- Mark McNamara resigned from the San Jose Police Department after an internal affairs investigation uncovered alarming text messages denigrating Black people. The messages appear to reference a 2022 officer-involved shooting that injured K’uan Green. The Law&Crime Network’s Jesse Weber sits down with former police sergeant Derrick Levasseur to discuss the response from SJPD and what it means for Green’s lawsuit against the city.

The other officers didn't come forward and report McNamara because they either feel thw same way he does and or, they are committed to honoring the "blue shield". The police are filled with officers like that. Its a deep rooted issue that i feel will nvr be fixed.

Once you are under investigation as a cop for excessive force you should not be allowed to resign nor be allowed to be hired at any other police department in the entire country ; that includes being a security officer.
Not until you are proven innocent, or until the case is dismissed.

One was retired. The other was an Active duty Officer in the department as well, who is on Administrative leave. And under investigation

One of the issues is that the judicial system continues to allow these guy’s resign opposed to firing them. Then freezing / STOPPING ALL benefits. They should made an example to prevent other people with the same prejudices from exhibiting such inappropriate behaviors.
The problem with cops like this is they're able to just go to another police department and get hired like nothing happened they need to stop them from being cops. There needs to be a national database at the very least and if a department happens to hire them with everything that was known and something happens or it's under the apartment and they're going to be in serious issues but the best bet is stop them from being police.

You’re absolutely correct the cops in my city I knew a lot of them not like as friends or anything but pretty much from school and what I see today they are punks don’t get me wrong there are alot of good cops I actually took the state police and police exam I was #1 in the city but I was asked a sketchy question about what I would do if I witnessed my partner stealing during a traffic stop and I immediately answered that I’m not losing my job for anyone
Needless to say I was denied the job because they said that because I was a combat veteran they couldn’t trust me with a gun driving around the city

Cops have to be investigated by outside agencies instead of Internal Affairs. Their unions are too powerful when they pay for political and judge campaigns.

Because the background checks don’t ask for thoughts only criminal charges and psych evaluation and education credentials. The psych test is easy to get pass when you lie.

I think police officers should undergo psych evaluations & lie detector tests annually, not just at hire, to continuously deem them fit and identify or prevent possible corruption.

These types should NOT be allowed to resign while under investigation and if they do, they are determined guilty and certification automatically revoked. Name goes into a national database that has to be checked upon hiring for law enforcement and security roles.

Hate crimes seam to normal for cops
AS a conceal carrier and a self-defense advocate, this case is sickening. Mr. Green was attacked, fended off two assailants, one armed, disarmed him and left the area as quickly and efficiently as possible without hurting or causing any more danger to the public. He ran straight to police, this should have been a blessing. But Instead, a coward engage him, told Mr. Green to drop the weapon, Mr Green comply and less than 3 seconds later was shot. This is not acceptable! In America, many people carry legal guns for self-defense. There is no excuse why law enforcement should shoot someone who IS COMPLYING WITH LAWFUL ORDERS. Mr. Green did not resist detainment. He was not given the opportunity to be detain while the officers conduct their investigation. This is poor, poor police work. I do not condone violence against police officers. But in a country where there are more firearms than people, Police officers have to do better.
