I think they are playing saint and greavsie this summer on itv4. Think it will be a series of shows made up of a compilation of the best bits from it's 7 yr run. Keep an eye out for them👍
Brilliant show & great days. Saint & Greavsie & Football Focus on a Saturday lunchtime (ideally seeing both shows in their entirety) then off to the match in plenty of time for 3pm. Magic. Funny the things you do with such regularity and routine back in the day without even batting an eyelid… yet you’d give absolutely anything now to relive just one more time. RIP Ian & Jimmy…. LEGENDS.
RIP Greavsie and Saint who also passed away earlier this year.🙁 And RIP Cloughie too, he looked very healthy at this stage. The drink took hold suddenly some years later - and we don't have the same tolerance to alcohol as we get older...
Bloody great watching this football, easily as much pace and skill that you see these days. Nowadays Englands top league has too many overseas players and it's changed the dynamic. Now, teams defend for 60 minutes and it's one big game of Attack vs Defence. Players are afraid to be anything other than boring because they will be castigated in the hysteria that ensues. Teams need to look at their training methods these days - seriously. If England could play a game on Wednesday without no International Break you get these days - and play with much more panache, speed and skill - with less injuries too than you get these days. Then something is seriously wrong in the modern game.
Rubbish. Players sprint far more now then they did then and cover 11km per game compared to 8km back then. Players are complete athletes these days, guys drank regularly back then.
The players of today have the luxury of spectacular pitches. Back then. Most was just like the local wreck. Football back then 10 times better in my opinion. Crowds atmosphere. Even the casual side of things .
Do agree with your point about 'Foreigners' tbh. Only because less 'Home Grown talent' don't get the chance to play/develop. Sure it's entertaining, but should be a limit. Also PITCHES nowadays have changed the Game & since the Prem' began it's more like a Fashion Show.... @@benitezsucks8625 = LOL! They still do "Drink" & they're not "more Athletic"! If anything the opposite! Earning LOTS of Money, luxurious lifestyleS & they play on Surfaces that look like a 'Fifa' Game...!
+Potsie Wall Nonsense. Corruption, hooliganism and racism was all rife during this period and before it. Just look at the suggested bungs of George Graham and Brian Clough that came to light later. Or Don Revie's renowned match fixing during the 70's (as confirmed by his own former players!). The only difference is nowadays much more money is involved and intense media perception is that players care less than then because of it. Let's not lie and pretend this was a white, clean sport in the 80's when dodgy transfer deals, backhanders and hooliganism was at its height!
You know what, you have a fair point there Chip. What I am talking about here is the loyalty factor. You'd never see the likes of Matt Le Tissier, Steve Bull or Jim Cannon etc at clubs nowadays. And clubs are to hasty to sack their bosses now. The team I support has sacked two decent managers in the space of 8 months when we were positioned 7th and 5th respectively.
Potsie Wall Yeah, I agree, when It comes to loyalty and fair treatment of both managers and fans (including the ticket price issue), that is something that has been lost by the current crop of businessmen and billionaire owners. I just hope that mentality hasn't drifted too far down the pyramid to grass roots football.
@Hannibal Barca Little mind? Clearly you either didn't bother to read or properly understand what I wrote. I actually never said things are better now than then. The point I made was that for the OP to say it was the days when 'morals were in football were still important' seemed to miss the fact this was an era of corruption, hooliganism and rampant racism so hardly all that 'moral'. Less hooliganism now, less racism, but clearly it still exists and clearly is still an issue. And there is a lot of corruption affecting various continents and even the FIFA scandal of previous administrations. I said the biggest difference is the fact there is more money in the game now which of course has created other problems both for grassroots football and also the perception that the richest footballers care less. 'Morals'/'morality' is such a vague concept anyway. I gave 'drinking, gambling, womanising, drug taking' as examples of things that some might label as not being 'moral' behaviour. I am not saying I have an issue with it, but traditionally they weren't seen as 'moral pursuits'. Ignoring those examples the fact this was an era rampant with corruption, hooliganism and racism can't be seen as all that 'moral'.
Classic. Saint is like the teacher where greavsie is like the class clown just saying whatever comes into his head. If only cloughie was around now to see the silly amount of football on tv. Mind some things never change with the managerial merry-go round and lack of stability
When football was football, no players moaned about being tired yet played more matches than the pampered twats do now, most played in all league, FA cup and league cup matches Golden Days of football. Thanks Saint & Greavsie 😎👍🏼
lol and David Icke has been right about everything he said. Who's laughing now, as the sheeple are practically cheering the stripping away of their freedom and the introduction of the NWO
@@scotireland3087 Guys nuttier than a squirrels turd. The only prophet he is interested in, is the Profit he makes from mugs like you buying his books and his stage shows. 👍

The goal celebrations were a lot gayer back in the 80's. Touching team mates arses after they scored 😯 and lying on top of team mates in the missionary position after they scored. 😯😯
Rip Saint Rip Jimmy absolutely brilliant show never been replaced total legends
Binge watching all old Saint & Greavsie this last few days. Wonderful memories especially Jimmy's lack of political correctness.

RIP Greavsie and Saint who also passed away earlier this year.🙁 And RIP Cloughie too, he looked very healthy at this stage. The drink took hold suddenly some years later - and we don't have the same tolerance to alcohol as we get older...

Saint and Greavsie's discussion about club loyalty and personnel stability.... you ain't seen nothing yet springs to mind.
Thanks for uploading these. Better times for the game.
Back in the days when morals in football were still important.

@Hannibal Barca To be fair I have re-edited a bit now to take some of those issues out and make it a bit clearer.

I forgot about that mercantile game. I went to villa park to watch that plenty of reds there!!
Imagine finding out you've been called up for an international match via Saint and Greavsie. Long gone of the days been uncontactable.
The Finns will be hard to beat as The Russians found out, brilliant off the hip comment.

To many bloody foreigners now ruined the English game
Ian rush the most unnatural looking football of all time
Yugoslavia. A lot of people died so that country got split up
