- In preparation for the Mobil 1 Tony Stewart/Lewis Hamilton seat swap event at Watkins Glen, Tony used iRacing sim software to prepare. The 3 Wide Life television crew was there to capture every exciting moment.
Tony now runs iRacing as a hobby. There's so many Tony sightings in iRacing.
sweet sweet sweet, have fun, go faaaasst, and no pain consequences!
I was standing on the hill outside the last turn that day with my brother. I’ll never forget that day!
For crying out loud at least get him a decent dam wheel to try.
I'm sure Tony Stewarts experience in an indy car helped him as well for sure getting into an F1 car, mind you an F1 is a few steps above an indy car but it's somewhat simular.
Do an oval
If you love racing and can afford it, I highly recommend iRacing!
I used iRacing for a number of months before I went to compete in the Skip Barber Karting Scholarship Shootout in 2010. It definitely helped me get a handle on the F2000 quickly.
I agree, I like it though because it's challenging. The only downfall in something like IRacing is the obvious: you don't have the seat of the pants feel like driving a real race car (duh). But, let's say you're going to Mid-Ohio to drive a skip barber car in real life, driving the track on IRacing will for sure help smooth over the learning curve.
j white you wont have it for any sim unless you buy a motion cockpit
nope, the downfall in something like iracing, is its racers.
To those that don't have iRacing here is my experience in sims. I started with Indy 500 on the old pcs in the late 80's. Went from that to Nascar Racing on the PC and yearly releases on the Xboxes. I settled in with Nascar Racing 2003 over the past 5 years.I upgraded my hardware to Logi G25 force feedback. FF is a must if u want to be competitive. I've rode in a stock car around Indy and drove one at Kentucky in the Gordon Racing school. Minus the seat in the pants feel, iRacing is the best. I'
iRacing is just that good ;D
They need to change that graphic from 2x champion to 3x champion
They need to advertise this on speed channel!
i play iracing and have gotten to my a licence i love the game and i have learned alot from racing it to my real life stuff
force feedback wheels gave me so much more fun learnin how to crash less
cause my foot was usually stuck sorta flat in my fave race sims
Mr. Stewart understands how to go fast in many types of vehicle, maybe force feedback is unnecessary
for such a fast brain hand eye sorta guy?
@giuliano170 You obviously dont follow NASCAR. He won the NASCAR championship this year. He also did it in 2002, and 2005
I'm surprised he got tired driving the sim, He must have been buggered after driving the F1 car. The F1 blokes are EXTREMELY fit!!
I bet they ran that McLaren with maxium downforce!
@FlyingBoxHead I agree. Maybe if they made it a smidge more affordable.
It looks like a very nice sim. Currently I don't own a FFB steering wheel, but I would consider buying one if the subscription was lower.
They do pay you up to $40 a year for racing. And $5/year for being a member. That's not bad either.
I like how regular Tony Stewart looks in the video. Looking at him, you probably wouldn't think he was a pro driver. Haha.
iRacing taught Stewart how to turn right! lol
Only joking, both are great drivers, interesting vid...
CP77 Tony is an IndyCar champion.
I've seen the swap ESPN coverage as well. Is there a behind the scenes with Lewis?
+Ryan Garris Really? You want try asking Montoya that again? If I remember correctly the last F-1 champ who really could drive a stock car was Mario Andretti. Both are difficult to do well in there own ways. F-1 you pretty much have what you have and you have to drive the car in the way the engineers set it up. You really don't win if F-1, you drive to not lose. The cars make the difference, but only if the driver is precise. Drivers screw up, there is no getting that back.
In stock-cars, the driver has to "carry" the car more often. Since they are really still low tech to keep the costs "relatively" affordable. Often the driver has to search for the line that is best for his car at that moment. Changes at pit stops, changes in the weather, means the driver may have to do some searching again. The driver needs to make the calculations himself, while he still trying to win the race. Fuel mixture is done with the right foot. Not a knob or dial. Could you really picture an F-1 driver shutting the car off in the turns to save fuel to hopefully not have to make that one more pit stop that would cost him the race. I didn't think so.
@MaRcIu27 Its alright, you wont need every car/track when you start, buy it as you go and decide what path you want to go down. It'll work in what way suits you.
We just gonna act like Lewis Hamilton isn’t in the video lol
Tony Stewarts voice sounds so similar with Owen Wilson.
Remember tony has raced in Indycar too so that helped
@DGelink lots of people do because the brake and gas are really close together.
joey logoano (NASCAR Driver) gets on iRacing often. maybe iracingtv should do a show about him :D
tony was really good in indy cars so i wonder how different f1 would be
I approve this video !
I tried Iracing but couldn't get out of the rookie class.
I sucked so I got out.
I love the Adidas kicks he has on
How much is it per month for a subscription?
Plz add bandoleros I would be so happy
Well I was just giving him a run down on who Tony Stewart is.
I'd get iRacing if you could just buy it and not have to worry about the monthly payments.
David, are you the guy that did the tutorials is NR2003?
Yes, younger me, he is.
they should release the game then still have another thing with online subscriptions and stuff
William Burgoon no and no this way no stupide forza players
Patrick Charette forza is actually a good game as a console sim racer
@giuliano170 You obviously have no idea who Tony Stewart is.
I guess you're actually right on that haha
The reason his faster then the testers is cause he can actually drive!! Unlike the shocking testers true story.
How about giving him a decent direct drive wheel and a Rift!
I could use those too. Thanks.
yeah but they had the car runnin tight ehhehehehe lol but he still good i don,t watch nascar that much but i like Tony Stewart
$100 for a year, and about the same as Xbo xlive wirh the current promo. Cars run $15 tracks around $11. You start with 6 of each. It is a service and u r paying to race with others who r trying to race as clean as possible unlike online racing anywhere else then or now. There is no cheating, your stats are tracked, and yeah there are wrecks with most being true accidents but thats racing. Hosted races, official races, time trials, practice, and testing. Again a simulation service and not a vid
What seat is Tony using?
Tony Stewart needs to adjust his FOV!
@DGelink I noticed that too!
Most people outside the USA haven't heard of any NASCAR drivers except maybe Dale Earnhardt
@MegaJB39 iRacing and NR2003 are nothing alike. The track models are more accurate in iRacing, the force feedback bumps in every track is in iRacing and not NR2003. The graphics are of course better, the scale is real on iRacing as opposed to the reduced scale of NR2003. The physics are better in iRacing than NR2003. Your not on ice on iRacing as most were on NR2003. You can save your car better (tire model/physics) in iRacing much better than in NR. You can rub in iRacing & not wreck unlikeNR.
at least tony didn't puke all over himself.
I had to give up otherwise I would've thrown myself from a cliff from being frustrated at being shit.
@FlyingBoxHead
You don't have to pay monthly... Buy a 2 years Subscription and have fun ;-)
OMG he brakes with the clutch pedal... :)
In the off chance you read this response to your 2011 comment, I also brake with the clutch pedal. The Logitech brake pedal requires so much force that it's preferable to use the clutch pedal instead.
Its a shame that iracing themselves dont know how to setup a monitor and FOV.
@MegaJB39 Waste of money? LOL! Smoking cigs is a waste of money. If you want the best racing sim available with the best service and some of the best and I might add safest drivers, iracing is the way to go.
Why is leading expensive
I mean iracing
+Nicolas Bradshaw You have to pay monthly and you have to pay about 5-14$ per car/track it's a very pricey hobby
+Nardor Not really. You don't pay monthly, if you're smart. You pay by the year, and take advantage of specials and participation credits. I think I pay about $15 a year at this point.
+Nardor Try racing a real car. Now that's EXPENSIVE.
DDS029 will be maybe a year or two from now :p
Another thing the steering wheels are way too expensive for what yopu get.My 90 dollar mouse lasts me for years and years.A steering wheel lasts a year if you're very lucky.
No matter how many times I practiced,I sucked. Sorry Iracing, for people that aren't dumb like me,it's a great sim.
nope, FFB is no need to get real fast
yes because its not a game! its a bad game, incredible simulator (:
Have you ever noticed Stewart always has a real stupid look on his face. It's like he shit his pants an hour ago and just figured it out.
what guy?
tony is gay
8:28
those eyes understand 200 mile per hour paint-rubbin death just right there next to you
the stupid lies in your statement
what are your capabilities?
DK get back to fixing the NTM and stop screwing around.
lol. More like $499.99
Trying to hand out his karma...
LOL more like $179
A g27😂😂
So that's why they shot up in value after/around this time....
Another thing the steering wheels are way too expensive for what yopu get.My 90 mouse lasts me for years and years.A steering wheel lasts a year if you're very lucky.
In know this comment is 9 years old & all, but it's roughly the same age as my Logitech G27...
THAT I STILL USE ON A REGULAR BASIS!
(Please know of what you speak before opening mouth/typing words.)
Lol I wonder how much they paid him to say this
We run into pro racers all the time on the sim. Nobody pays them to practice on it.
"pro racers" lol
Shane Van Gisbergen drives on iRacing.
Nothing, Rubens Barrichello is on iRacing a fair bit.
I saw Rubens last night :D
So ye, this truly was opposite ends of the spectrum On one side,
A Stock car and and a nice humble Tony Stewart
On the to other side
An F1 car and F1's biggest ever douche bag. Lewis Hamilton.
murderer
On one side, a super talented three times world champion who is a bit more active on social media so i guess that makes him a douchebag. On the other side a murdering psycho, with serious anger managment issues.
Pelopidas Zois you are an idiot if you think he murdered anybody. That kid committed suicide
bald
only 249.99!
I bought Iracing and the thing I have to pay to have all other cars and tracks? jesus sucks very limited unless youre rich.
this could have been acutally interesting. but turned out just vomit inducingly obnoxious...
scorpion stewart breaks back .poetic justice for killing a man
+Redkelly Re Lol it's you again!! The "scorpion" thing always cracks me up.
Greg Biffle scorpion stewart has broken his stinger
Lol!!
*sigh* Some people will never understand.
EMPiiRE™ that is why i would never race with the fat greasy scorpion stewRAT
two of the most famous drivers in the world???? who the fuck is tony stewart?
he is a 3 time nascar champion now retired, he owns a dirt track named Eldora, snd a racing team with 3 or 4 drivers
HOLY FAIL LMAO.. how has no one noticed the upside down rpm gauge? lmfao!
That's intentional; not a "fail." Rotating the tachometer would allow a driver to make a glance at the needle's angle, rather than having to read the numbers. This particular car's tach puts the redline at 9 o'clock.
It's a bit strange, I know, but it can be helpful when you're going 200MPH. :D
Anyway, I believe it's driver preference, and I assume the car that iRacing scanned just happened to have the flipped tachometer.
+Andy Vennaro Absolutely correct. But it not just the tach. In my race cars all of the gauges pointed straight up when every thing is in a normal range.
If you made I racing for the consoles you would make more money cause I know I would buy it
why on earth would you buy for shitty console? You have PC. I doubt they could even make it the same on PS3. Especially the physics and it's calculations that go in this game.
sermerlin1
Physics calculations are computationally inexpensive according to some staff posts I read on the forum. It's the graphics that require all the processing power, and a console like the PS4 could handle it very easily (most PS4 games look better than iRacing). Unless the time would be better spent refining things on the PC version, I see no reason why making a PS4 version would be a bad thing. Assuming of course a wheel and pedal set is being used, but that's already not the case with the PC version supporting game pads.
sonic_blue
Because the stand out thing iRacing has going for it is it's online structure and progression system. And the payment system vets out dumb kids and dude-bros like you get on console games, meaning you are racing against serious racers at a high level of competition. To make it a console game would be to take away the one thing iRacing has over all other sims
+Dilmonster It's not about making money, it's about the love of the sport. If you get a chance, do a little research, you would find some surprises about the history of the sim. It's direct lineage really dates back to the mid 90's.
+sonic_blue It's not what they want their product to be. You can build upon PC advancement, because those improvements are just better versions of parts in PC's now. Consoles change too often, and their equipment is proprietary. So you would always be coding for the lead-time in making the sim they want to work on each console. To put it on a console would "cheapen" it for it's intended target market.
Screw iRacing
"... best ever sim-motorsport software created."
Please, stop reading PR-scripts and OVER-doing self-ADV. Do what you do best and let other judge it (customers most of all). Sure you get new customers get hooked, but current subscribers will dissolve being upset of problems behind such "best ever sim-software" and PR-actions.
Bunch of promotional nonsense, iRacing is customer service has to be the worse... Do yourself a favor and go with RaceRoom experience...
Six years ago he still can’t drive
Randall Bair you’re an idiot
iRacing is the worst game ever.
no
Iracing is actually harder than driving a real car it's pretty overrated. There goal was to just make a car as hard to drive as possible and that will make it real. Well they achieved that,
wizzjo1nt5 😂😂😂😂
