I painted your red cardinal. I am going to paint this goldfinch after I watch this class again. To the rude one. Julia is giving all of us a lesson in watercolor for FREE. She is somone I respect and I enjoy her banter, her tallent, and her heart. Thank you Julia!

I appreciate all the art community does and offers us, without you all teaching us and sharing, my life would be far less fun.Thank you so much for this, I’m going to try this digitally, it’s so cute!
First, I love your little bird in the tree. Birds are my favorite and you made it look so easy. Second, part of why I enjoy your channel is hearing about your life. So thank you for that!
This came out so beautiful and I love the bird! You make me laugh when you critique yourself. It’s not at all bad. You inspire others. Thank you for this video.
What an obnoxious comment!!! Of course we are here for the banter!! Don’t listen to people who say mean things. I love your stories and your tutorials are very refreshing. Thank you!
I like your style of sharing your skills. I love your chatting as you paint, as it’s like we are hanging out painting together, with coffee. Be you, it’s refreshing and informative. ❤❤❤❤
Thanks so much, I appreciate the encouragement! It'd be nice to get all commenters that said something similar together for a paint and chat session haha
@@luciagarcia3787 I didn’t mean that as a disrespectful comment.I love and don’t mind listening to your stories. I meant I love listening to you as I watch your videos. Thank you so much. I’m enjoying them.
I love this painting. Adding all those twigs and berries make the painting so much alive. And I like the clusters of brown and pink in the background. Thanks for sharing. Another one I want to try!
I thought that was a nasty comment! I was appalled that anyone could be that rude while you are giving freely of your knowledge to help us become more accomplished. I love hearing about YTers’ lives and thoughts it makes for a more cozy, personal experience. I’ve never been to any craft/art lessons where students didn’t hear about their teacher’ personal lives. I enjoyed the gingerbread house story ALOT. And I love the picture of the finch. I’m going to try that one. It would make a great Christmas card. Give your baby a hug from me!
I absolutely love this! The little bird is so cute. I love the chatter, all the stories are so welcome. Tfs. I work in customer service and a customer said to me last week that I make a comment to everyone about something they are buying. Sometimes its about a product, sometimes a free service that we offer but she was right! Sometimes it's just mmm if they are buying something wonderful looking!
They're common here in the North East USA. What I didn't know is that gold finches stay here in the winter, but their feather's fade to brown ! In the spring they slowly turn yellow again. Fascinating, I think. 😊
I love your work and I love the bird! He is so CUTE!!!! I, also, love your chatting about your life. It feels like chatting with an old friend. Thank you for what you do. This painting is gorgeous.
Thank you for making this video. The most helpful part for me is watching you make mistakes and then solve them in real time. So useful! I always bash myself for making mistakes and I love how you show that mistakes are part of the process and that you can fix them as you go along. Much appreciated!
I loved this little painting and really enjoy listening to you while you paint. Enjoy that little one.....they grow up so fast. Mine is turning 58 soon!!!!
Love the snow detail! This is the first video of yours that I've watched. Really enjoy your presentation style, and hearing about your life. Thanks for the inspiration!
I really like how your painting came out, Julia. It's really pretty. The snow really added to the tiny branches. And I think your little bird came out great. Much better than what I would do!! LOL! Thanks for your tutorial and see you again.
I painted a faux brick wall behind my cook stove in my RV. I did it in distressed black, white, tan and grays. It came out beautiful and it was so much fun to do. I used acrylic paints to do it cheaply.
If I could do it you could most definitely do it! I am no pro by any means, just someone that loves the creative journey. The worst thing that could happen is you paint over it. lol
My thoughts. Love your bird, enjoy your chatting as that is life and art is supposed to be therapeutic. It’s unfortunate that some people are hurting and feel the need to be hateful. Don’t worry about them. Just keep being the beautiful soul you are. There is not another you in the world! Merry Christmas.
I loved hearing about your life stories. Keep it up. "They" can take control of their life and fast forward or turn their volume off. 🤣 You are right, those are a mean comments. Great painting. Keep being you!!
Julia, I always enjoy your tutorials. I’m sure with a little one you’re a tired mom and you’re still sharing and helping others learn. Thanks for all you do. 😊
Hi Julia ☺️ first of all I would like to say how much I enjoyed watching your tutorial, both the painting and your comments were such a joy. The painting turned out very pretty 🐦😍. Best of wishes to you and your family 😊🤗😘 By the way your story about the brick wall made me chuckle. Made me think of a renovation my husband and I did. We replaced a window in our party room outside with a big glass door and the brick wall paper got ripped off so to fix it all back up I painted bricks and no one noticed it 😅
Thank you! I love this little painting! And you did it so calmly carefully that I could follow and think I might be able to do something similar. I’ll give it a try!

"I don't have time to tape inspiration" lol lol I felt that to the core! Thank you! Beautiful work! You can paint that wall and use a big car wash sponge as a stencil, use the side of the soonge, to paint on the bricks...not hard at all
It was more complicated than that - we had to build a new wall basically in order to paste the back brick wall onto if that makes sense. Anyway it's luckily all finished now :)

You mean those cauliflower effects that can occur in watercolour? They happen, when you add wet paint or water with your brush to an area, which is damp, so an area which started to dry, but isn’t completely dry already. Then those cauliflowers occur. Everytime you add water to an area damp area. So the clue is to either paint wet- in -wet, and the painting has to be still wet then, or to wait, until the area is completely dry and add a layer on top of the dry area (wet-on-dry). In landscape painting it’s all about timing and being quick and keeping edges and areas one wants to work on wet. That’s, why a lot of landscape painters wet the whole area first (also it gives a more smooth wash) or spray from a spraybottle, to keep things wet.

Honestly I don't know - if any viewer knows the answer, I'd like to know too! Probably something to do with water distribution.
Its all about the wet in wet ratio and the thickness of the paint you put in the very wet layer.
