The reason why people stopped picking Carley over Doug is due to the fact that that Doug was actually modeled after a Telltale developer who’s name was also Doug. When this was revealed the fandom made a FB page and petitions called "Save Doug" dedicated to him since very few people saved him in the game. That’s what caused the switch in the ratio :)

Hey guys, I wanted to say thank you for all of the support on this video. The fact that 1000 views isn't that far off anymore is crazy, and we're almost at 100 subscribers as well, and it's all thanks to you guys. I also want to use this comment to let you guys know what the future holds. Right now I'm about a quarter of the way writing the script for a video on the second season of the walking dead. I believe that I'll be able to get it done by the 25th of June *HOPEFULLY* and I'm excited to get it out to you guys as soon as possible. After that video I am most likely going to do a video on The Last of Us like some people have suggested, so keep an eye out for that in the future. I'm also thinking of giving these videos some type of consistent name so they are all a part of a series. I'm thinking of making the titles "Why I love ________ | A Retrospective of _______". I know it's kind of basic but I think that it describes why I make these videos the best because I love the games that I'm talking about. Again, thank you for all of the support, and I'll see you again when the second video comes out.
One thing about Kenny helping Christa when Ben dies in the clocktower is that when Kenny is drinking in the attic when they're trapped, he offers some to Christa and he notices that she's hesitant and looks down at her stomach before drinking some. Kenny realized that she was pregnant and I think that's one of the reasons he went down to help save her, along with the fact it was his fault.
I’m really glad to hear someone else thinking of the plot as destiny when it comes to the impact of choices. Just finished playing the whole thing a couple weeks ago and this is a hell of a retrospective, new sub!
Fun fact Lee in episode 1 has a chance to call the Walkers zombies if you interact with the door in the pharmacy before getting the key he states that the keys on the zombie out on the street
This game was such a big part of my childhood, i absolutely like all of the The Walking Dead games by teltalle, i hope they end up getting the license again and make games about this univers. Great video btw.
I'm surprised you didnt mention the bitten woman glen, lee, and carly/doug come across in the hotel. I thought it was an important scene in the first episode considering it helped players form their perspective on the walkers and their morality
The next video has released! It's up on the channel right now so be sure to check it out if you get the opportunity. Edit: I just released a discord server that you can see on my community tab! Hope to see you there!
@@Notlazydontcare yeah I tried to stay pretty neutral and straightforward with the story section, but at the end of the day I'm kinda just saying what I like about the game from my playthroughs yknow? Like if I say Lee says something because his arm is cut off, it might not happen if he still has his arm. I probably could've done a bit better with it, but at the same time I dont even know all of the dialogue options that happen in the game lol. Thanks for watching!
The scene where Molly fights Lee and Clementine appears, she will either say ‘Lee..?’ In a low tone as if she expects Lee to kill her, this is if you showed no mercy on the characters in Episode 2 ex: Larry and all the St. John brothers. But if you showed mercy, she will shout ‘Lee!’ To stop him from killing Molly. Cool detail.
I got 44 minutes into the video before I realized that you only have 86 subscribers. That's such a tragedy, seriously. This video is great, your points are well-stated and I agree with all of them. Makes me want to revisit this game as the last time I played it was in 2014, but it left such a huge impact on me and I remember all of it. I'm glad that while you love this game, you're fair about it. It does have some things about it that aren't great, but overall it's a game I think everyone should play.
Absolutely replay it, it's worth it and you forget things that happened in it. I also recommend the rest of the series if you haven't played it as it's also really good (except for maybe a new frontier). I tried to be as fair as I could despite the huge bias I have towards the game, and yes while it does have some issues the pros heavily outweigh the cons, at least in my opinion. I'm glad you liked the video!
@@magmalecreme I've been thinking about replaying it since I watched this video, I just don't have the time currently, though I'm going on vacation soon so I'll have a good amount of time. I remember, I did play Season 2, and I remember thinking it was okay, I definitely enjoyed it and I remember it vividly, I also haven't played that one since 2014. I played the first 30 or so minutes of Season 3 and I just was out of it at that point, I can't remember exactly when it came out but I wasn't invested in the story anymore. I really outta go through all of them, I own them.
Carley's death scene is still the most shocking death scene I've ever scene. Carley was my favorite of the side characters and Lilly was a close second, so seeing her straight up murder Carley was so impactful to me when I first saw that scene (I was about 11 or 12 back then) It was so impactful to me It's still one of my most memorable scenes all these years later.
Hey all that have watched the video, just letting ya know that the definitive edition pack of the games is on sale for $25 right now so if you wanted to play the game, that's the best way to do it.
What I like about the ending for Lee is that depending on the choices you made (Ex: If you killed alot of people and also was a major dush bag) Clementine will actually either kill you or "spare" you.
Wow this was amazing, love your voice, your opinions, and the way you described everything definitely made the video more realistic. Thank you for this :), and also HOW ARE YOU UNDERRATED YOU NEED MORE SUBS 😭❤️
I never noticed the handcuffs metaphor! When you said Lee starts and ends the game in handcuffs, first as a murderer and then a redeemed hero I never realized that. That's a very good detail. I love this game so much
I commented before, but I see that from my end (and others as well) that this video got blessed by the algorithm (when I commented there was only about 100 views), so congrats! Also glad to see that the season 2 script is being made, can’t wait for that one 👍
Yeah dude you're an OG! It's crazy, when I started writing my script for the second video about a week ago, I wrote that the video just reached 600 views. It's approaching 4000 now which is just ridiculous. Thanks for coming back, you've been here since the start my man.
I really enjoyed this retrospective of season 1!! I sure hope to see retrospectives of all the other seasons soon!! Telltales Walking Dead franchise is definitely in my top 5 and Clems journey is one of the best gaming joureys of all time!
I don't know what it is about this game but it just feels so comforting to return to this game to meet the old lee, kenny and clementine again even after dozens of playthroughs and basically knowing all the lines word by word. Same goes for all the youtube content on the game, doesn't matter if I've watched ten different retrospective videos it's always as interesting.
I just replayed the first game a few days ago and I finished it today, although I knew what was gonna happen, I still cried when clem pulled the trigger, and Lee had his final breath
me being thanked for watching the whole video by de end also, me trying not to sob uncontrollably with the beautiful narrative about a Game I love so much
Amazing video on an amazing game. Honestly dude, this is a genuinely great retrospective on the game and the emotions the player might have felt on their first playthrough of the game. Hope you keep it up!
I’m currently replaying the whole series start to finish with a couple of my friends, and I absolutely love this game. Clem is my personal favorite and I think of her as like my own daughter. I wish telltale didn’t go out of business but this is honestly their best game imo. And this is coming from a typically FPS gamer. Let’s not forget the amazing music too! All my heart strings are tugged throughout, especially Clem and the salt lick! And the the call back with AJ 🥺😂❤️ “I don’t know”
@@magmalecreme Clementine is also like a daughter to me, even if she is fiction. I care about her and I will protect her no matter what. 16:01 Like you explained, making hard decisions is harder because of Clementine. Take the stealing food of the car moment for example. If Clementine wasn't there then stealing the stuff would've been the option. But with her there, I hesitated and held back because I didn't want to put bad things on her mind and for her to not trust me anymore. This game really makes you care about her like your own daughter.
A truly majestic and overall emotional rollercoaster, that this series brought to its fans, I'm so glad that Clementine made it out alive. Truly one of the best series to a video game that I have ever played in my life. And there are many others all around the world, whose hearts have been touched by this game, as well as TWD series as a whole. Thankyou Telltale Games and Skybound Games for completing the series. As well as the #StillNotBitten team.
Great video dude! If this is your first time goddamn you're a natural! As I've finished replaying the games for the 4th time not that long ago I still love to watch retrospectives and other people's opinions on the game! Keep the good work up!
I really liked this video, you talked about things some other videos didn't. I especially liked the illusion of choice bit. Would love your thoughts on season 2 someday!
Thanks so much! I tried to go extra in depth because people tend to just go over the big picture instead of really digging in, hence the length of the video lol.
I watched a playthrough of this game when I was definitely a bit young for it (11), but I don’t regret it at all. It was my first introduction to serious storytelling in gaming, and it totally shifted my perspective on the medium (and it was also the first video game to ever make me cry). It's my favorite game of all time for that reason.
I love this game so much, flaws and all. My friend actually bought me Clementine's hat for my birthday one year because I loved it so much. Season one is so iconic, and even as a stand alone, it's still great. This was tell tale at its best. (And I personally feel season 4 was a good finale) This was a great video. A good retrospective. I hope you take off.
Hard to believe this was your first video essay - you did a great job, and your editorial showed you were aware even then of the things to improve on. Wonderful stuff!
Great video brother, loved your retrospective on one of my favourite games. p.s: sometimes the music is louder than your voice just make sure to make your audio higher whenever you're talking in whatever editing software you're using.
Thanks man! Yeah I noticed that a couple of times, I was trying to keep it at a hearable volume because I think the music is great but I went a little overboard sometimes lol.
2:55 In particular "Armed with death" was such an emotional trip. 11:22 Hit the nail on the head with that one. I most certainly did. But I also found her skillset more valuable than Doug's and saved her for that reason as well. 22:15 My choice was instantaneous. A father should never have to do this to his son. Give me the gun, I will take care of this. 49:28 See? Armed with death. Death march. God that sequence is hype!
This was a wonderful retrospective! I'm definitely going to check out the rest of your catalogue, I grew up watching horror game playthroughs, so it's always fun to revisit videos reminding me of why I enjoyed them so much. Keep up the great work!!!!
Certainly one of the greatest games ever made.. I ended up buying it off the Google Play Store just a few years ago and I really was NOT expecting it to be so damn good. I've heard of it when it was first released but I honestly figured it would just be rather ho-hum.. the characters are so well written and yes, the music composition of "Clementine's Suite" can really get to you. I actually found myself sooo sad for Lee. I wanted him to survive but 🤷🏻♂️..his death is paramount to Clementine's own character arc and it all serves the story very well from part 1 to 4. Great video, by the way. ✨
this retrospective was amazing it felt much quicker than an hour i liked it so much i decided to subscribe hopefully you do more content ike this thanks for making this
Everyone has that one game that shapes who you are as a person. For me, that game is The Walking Dead. It's my 3rd favorite game of all time. I think the main reason I appreciate storytelling in video games as much as I do now is because of this game.
This is one of the greatest video games I have ever played. Lee is the GOAT and Clemmy is a close second pick for the title. I broke down into tears when Clem had a dream sequence with Lee in the fourth season because of the impact this game left on me. Damn.
Nothing will ever hurt me as much as this game I still cry years later whenever I see the last scene. Beautiful game. Also just found your channel you probably won’t see this but I hope you get more confidence I’m sorry that you’re apologizing when you have more bravery than tons of other people to even put something out there! May you find your rhythm and keep making things you like :)
fun fact: the messages from clems mom were the voice actors audition tapes to act for the game, the devs liked it that much that they used it for the game
genuinely, thank you for making this. this is my all time favourite videogame and youve helped me remember all the reasons why i love it. also the lip smacking wasnt that noticeable, this video is amazing.
i remember i watched this one youtuber who didnt put spoilers in the titles or thumbnails, not even a finale or anything, the ending shocked me not only because i didnt know what would happen next but because i fully believed that he cut the arm soon enough, now i see i was just in denial, i then showed this game to my mom since she was a big Walking Dead fan and told me that cutting the arm off was stupid since it was too late but she also cried after the ending. This has so far been the only game that made me cry or close to crying when i see the ending
I didn't know about that unique death animation with Lee on the back of the train with Zombie Boy killing them all. Had to have played through the game like 5-6 times minimum. Thanks for that!

@MagmaLeCreme especially the part about his little sister that really reminded me about my role as a big brother she isn't my kid but it's my job to protect and give her advice and comfort
i turned 18 in dec 2022 and i played the game when i was prop like 8 or 7 ( yes im the kid that can use the internet whenever i wanted) i legit grew up with clem. and i replayed the game now that im 18 and let me tell you my younger self never really saw and understood how much lee loved her until i played it back now. this game will forever be my top 1 no matter what. since its the game that shaped me and well all those young twd fans back in the day to who we are today
It is indeed a fire game that changed my life fr
Your amazing man keep up the great work, I would like to see more like this
@@BlueFire_7 thanks man! Working on it :)
Best part of the video is hearing when your voice changes because you truly love something about the game. Can't wait to see what this channel becomes
@@theunderground2968 lol there are certain parts where I get super hyped. Thanks for watching man

Yeah I wouldn't doubt that. I always wondering which characters in the game actually knew that christa was pregnant because the hints were so subtle
I’m really glad to hear someone else thinking of the plot as destiny when it comes to the impact of choices. Just finished playing the whole thing a couple weeks ago and this is a hell of a retrospective, new sub!
Thanks man! I'm glad you see it the same way
Fun fact Lee in episode 1 has a chance to call the Walkers zombies if you interact with the door in the pharmacy before getting the key he states that the keys on the zombie out on the street
Yeah I believe that's the only time anybody says zombie in the entire twd franchise
had a brief lapse in the 4th wall
This game was such a big part of my childhood, i absolutely like all of the The Walking Dead games by teltalle, i hope they end up getting the license again and make games about this univers.
Great video btw.
Thanks man! I do hope we can get some cool walking dead stuff in the future.
Make season 4 not season 3
@@ZuriFortnite lol maybe
@@Notlazydontcare yeah I tried to stay pretty neutral and straightforward with the story section, but at the end of the day I'm kinda just saying what I like about the game from my playthroughs yknow? Like if I say Lee says something because his arm is cut off, it might not happen if he still has his arm. I probably could've done a bit better with it, but at the same time I dont even know all of the dialogue options that happen in the game lol. Thanks for watching!
@@ZuriFortnite make both
The scene where Molly fights Lee and Clementine appears, she will either say ‘Lee..?’ In a low tone as if she expects Lee to kill her, this is if you showed no mercy on the characters in Episode 2 ex: Larry and all the St. John brothers. But if you showed mercy, she will shout ‘Lee!’ To stop him from killing Molly. Cool detail.
Oh yeah I heard about that, it's super cool
Wow! This was a fantastic retrospective. I really hope you make one for the other seasons! (Especially Season 2 and The Final Season)
I think im going to start writing the script for season 2 in a couple weeks, glad you liked it!
@@Gojirex if you haven't gotten to the final season, It's definitely worth sticking through the 3rd one to get to it.
i wish lee and clem had more time together but him dying was key to Clem’s epic character development so had to be done 😢
Ik right, so sad
You did a good job with this video. Thanks for making it.
Yep for sure, Lilly went far off the deep end.
Hey all that have watched the video, just letting ya know that the definitive edition pack of the games is on sale for $25 right now so if you wanted to play the game, that's the best way to do it.
^not anymore
What I like about the ending for Lee is that depending on the choices you made (Ex: If you killed alot of people and also was a major dush bag) Clementine will actually either kill you or "spare" you.
Yeah I believe she chooses if you stay silent instead of telling her to kill/spare you.

@@magmalecreme nah don't say you don't know what you are doing, You did great! and i love your voice too!
I never noticed the handcuffs metaphor! When you said Lee starts and ends the game in handcuffs, first as a murderer and then a redeemed hero I never realized that. That's a very good detail. I love this game so much
So many great details sprinkled throught the games!
Bro this is the first time i watch a 1 hour video to it's end without feeling bored for a second
i appreciate your efforts and your passion for it 🖤🖤
Thanks dude! I tried to be in depth while also being interesting, I appreciate the support!
Personally I think Lee's death without the arm is more the result of blood loss and exhaustion plus the possible gunshot the Stranger gives him.
True it may not even be the bite
I really enjoyed this retrospective of season 1!! I sure hope to see retrospectives of all the other seasons soon!! Telltales Walking Dead franchise is definitely in my top 5 and Clems journey is one of the best gaming joureys of all time!
I totally agree, I just finished finals so I'm going to start on the next season really soon. Thanks for watching man
I don't know what it is about this game but it just feels so comforting to return to this game to meet the old lee, kenny and clementine again even after dozens of playthroughs and basically knowing all the lines word by word.
Same goes for all the youtube content on the game, doesn't matter if I've watched ten different retrospective videos it's always as interesting.
Yeah it feels like thinking about a good memory
I just replayed the first game a few days ago and I finished it today, although I knew what was gonna happen, I still cried when clem pulled the trigger, and Lee had his final breath
;( I know right
Got to agree telltales season 1 just tanks all walking dead media in comparison except for the prison arc in the comics that was dark af
Can’t imagine the amount of Effort put into this video. These videos take an unbelievable amount of time. Bravo to you

also, me trying not to sob uncontrollably with the beautiful narrative about a Game I love so much
Thanks for watching to the end lol!
Amazing video on an amazing game. Honestly dude, this is a genuinely great retrospective on the game and the emotions the player might have felt on their first playthrough of the game. Hope you keep it up!
Thanks dude! I tried to give that feeling of playing through for the first time for the people that haven't played the game yet.
And the the call back with AJ 🥺😂❤️ “I don’t know”
Yeah the callbacks throughout the series are awesome
@@magmalecreme
Clementine is also like a daughter to me, even if she is fiction. I care about her and I will protect her no matter what.
16:01
Like you explained, making hard decisions is harder because of Clementine.
Take the stealing food of the car moment for example. If Clementine wasn't there then stealing the stuff would've been the option. But with her there, I hesitated and held back because I didn't want to put bad things on her mind and for her to not trust me anymore.
This game really makes you care about her like your own daughter.
Amazing video, finished whole series few days ago and just can't let it go. One of the best story games I’ve ever played🥲👍
Honestly. It definitely made me love story games. Thanks for watching!
Respect to everybody that was able to finish the game series!

Really amazing work man loved the video it really summed up my experience and that’s why it’s one of the best games I’ve ever played
It sure is, thank you so much man
I really liked this video, you talked about things some other videos didn't.
(And I personally feel season 4 was a good finale)
This was a great video. A good retrospective. I hope you take off.
Thanks so much, it truly is a great game series!
Hard to believe this was your first video essay - you did a great job, and your editorial showed you were aware even then of the things to improve on. Wonderful stuff!
The Ben sicko mode moment is underappreciated

I liked when Lee & Kenny were trying to find a boat & couldn't. It felt like Left 4 Dead with Bill trying to find a boat.
I'm so happy you mentioned berleezy, I was thinking about his play through during the video and then you brought him up! Well-done video :)
Yeah he does a great job of making jokes but also taking the game seriously
Certainly one of the greatest games ever made.. I ended up buying it off the Google Play Store just a few years ago and I really was NOT expecting it to be so damn good. I've heard of it when it was first released but I honestly figured it would just be rather ho-hum.. the characters are so well written and yes, the music composition of "Clementine's Suite" can really get to you. I actually found myself sooo sad for Lee. I wanted him to survive but 🤷🏻♂️..his death is paramount to Clementine's own character arc and it all serves the story very well from part 1 to 4.
Great video, by the way. ✨

Everyone has that one game that shapes who you are as a person. For me, that game is The Walking Dead. It's my 3rd favorite game of all time. I think the main reason I appreciate storytelling in video games as much as I do now is because of this game.
Awesome video!! You definitely deserve more views for the work you put into this

Learning how to edit, writing your scripts, that takes dedication and overall I didn’t notice the stuff you mentioned you did really good , editing looked super smooth the audio mix was great between the video and your voice and I think it flowed very well. May you find your rhythm and keep making things you like :)
I sometimes come back to this video because its so peaceful to watch and i agree with what he says.
fun fact: the messages from clems mom were the voice actors audition tapes to act for the game, the devs liked it that much that they used it for the game
