All, thanks for watching this one. I put so much work into this video, because if it's going to be my last about H6, I want it to be special. As for my cut...IF YOU OWN BOTH CUTS...feel free to send me a dm on Twitter or FB. I don't want to get in any legal trouble. Anyway, thanks for watching. Thorn rules!!

The Thorn mythology was a brilliant addition to the franchise, it raised new questions and mysteries and I believe added to the mystique of Michael Myers. The idea that Michael appears when the constellation of thorn appears… man, that’s just epic. This movie is underrated and the Thorn mythology is under appreciated.
H6 is my favourite Halloween movie.

@@valeriebreidenstein8362 Oh yeah, it is so underrated.
To my shame I haven’t seen the Producer’s Cut yet. I’ve got the Theatrical Cut and the Bobby Digital Hybrid Cut. The Hybrid Cut is my favourite version as of yet.
I will get the Producer’s Cut eventually. I don’t think it will top the hybrid cut for me though. Mainly, because the full ritual scene is a bit tacky (I watched it on UA-cam). Like, Wynn’s cape is going hard in the cheese department, which is cool, I’m down with that. But I would have handled the cult element in a more subtle way and toned down the Hammer Horror vibe the Producers Cut has. The Hybrid Cut gives you the best elements from both movies.
The fact that H6 has all these different cuts as well is awesome. Such a fun movie to be a fan of.

This movie has one of the scariest moments in all Halloween films, when the Mom is looking out the window and sees her son going into the Myer's house it's just soooo creepy because you know she has to go over there to try and save her son, but she also knows the danger. It's just so counter to normal horror movie cliches (where we see someone do something dumb for a dumb reason). Great review! I'd love to see your cut of the film!

The look & atmosphere is perfect for a Halloween movie & i liked Paul Rudd & i liked seeing the older veteran version of Sam Loomis & it's an exciting thrill ride in my opinion. It was always such a rare film to find on video bk in the day out of all the franchise, a true Cult film. Another great video with heart & depth

  • @Maple93Syrup
    @Maple93Syrup Рік тому +2

This was the very first movie that introduced me to the Halloween franchise and Michael Myers. I was maybe 8 or 9 years old. Watched it with my older cousin during the daytime and holy crap I felt so nauseous and absolutely terrified as soon as Myers appeared from the darkness to impale that woman on the wall. I was immediately disturbed and addicted! The music, the mask, the kills, the setting/mood/atmosphere was super impressive to me at the time.
Stoked for Halloween Ends next month!

I love and salute you sir. Halloween 6 is my favorite entry aside from part 2. I thought the mask was the closest we got to the original. In the theatrical. The thorn cult is meaningless but to me. That's a plus. Michael slaughters all of the thorn cult members to solidify that he isn't controlled by anyone. I appreciate the producer's cut for giving more scenes to Donald Pleasence. The man that was happy to play the character of Dr. Loomis until his death.

Wow you are the first person I've ever heard say something positive about this one. I remember, after I first binged the series, that "Curse of Michael Myers" came out among my top 3 favorites. Then I started questioning my own taste whenever I looked and saw that I was pretty alone in liking it. I actually liked it more than H20 which seems to be heresy. Definitely one of my favorite sequels and movies in general of all time. Gets waayy too much hate for what it is. Daniel Farrands only had good intentions and wanted to give Myers a reasonable backstory. This was the best Myers imo, with stunt guys: George P. Wilbur, A. Michael Lerner & Brad Hardin giving all their talents to the character, portraying him as a badass. Also one of the first and only times you ever see a very angry and power-walking (chase through the underground hospital) Shape. It never gets old. I at least wish they would've continued the story in comic-form or books, because I really wanted to see the rest of Danial Farrands' vision. Oh well, nice revisit/review!

I absolutely adore this movie, it was the first Halloween movie that I'd seen.
    It terrified me.
The gritty look to it suits it greatly, the chase scene all the way to the barn is my favorite chase scene in the franchise, the tweak of metal in the score really suits the look and overall tone to it.
As for Michael......my goodness, he's my favorite Michael, the mask, the way he walks, his mannerisms "kisses the air" perfect.
The surgery room kill is my favorite scene in the whole franchise, the lighting is out of this world.
You can see how tired Michael is of chasing Jamie for all these years, he makes sure there's no coming back for her.
I'm jealous bit happy for you that you got to see this in the theater.

Okay so after having recently revisited Halloween 6 after not having watched it for many years, I absolutely fell in love with the film; despite certain parts of the Curse Of Thorn storyline ruining the Michael Myers mystique for me. I totally agree with you about the portrayal of The Shape really making this film something special. And just like you said the atmosphere is also absolutely fantastic as are the kills and music. I too much prefer the theatrical edition of the film over the producers cut but your own cut of the film sounds pretty awesome Lee. This is a terrific revisited video...loved it!

Your third review of this movie... you really do love it. 😂
This movie has great lighting and atmosphere, acting, kills, an amazingly brutal Michael, great characters... technically, it is excellent. Regardless, the story is pretty bad in my eyes. I don’t like the idea that Michael is cursed, but I’d be okay with it if everything made sense. It doesn’t, though, and the plot is what keeps this from ranking it very high compared to some other sequels. I still enjoy watching it, though.

I think this is my favourite in the series, due to the potential it had and what could have followed (I personally saw Steven growing up into being Michael's anti heroic counterpart, wanting revenge on Michael and the cultists for what they did to Jamie).
My personal opinion is that both cuts have things that work and things that don't. For example, I like that Donald Plesance had more of a role in the Producers cut and the emphasis on the Strode family.
What I liked in the theatrical cut was how the curse ultimately played out like a Red Herring; it was nothing more than a theory that Tommy came up with but is never verified and it gives way to Michael being pure evil as usual (I came to this conclusion by seeing both cuts side by side and noticing all the specifics that made Michael out to be a puppet being ommited in the theatrical version).
I'd also say that Michael's evil is emphasized when he kills Jamie in the theatrical version, as he not only does it in a brutal fashion, but he does while mocking her previous attempt to reach out to him. Hell, in that version the cultists all turn out to be some kind of ruse while Wynn was just a guy fascinated by Michael's evil.

I came back to watch this again because I really enjoy your enthusiasm for Halloween 6 and I also wanted to make a comment about something you said which I completely agree with. And that is that the theatrical cut stands on its own apart from the others. That is definitely true and I think that’s a major factor in why there are two cuts of the film. The Producer’s Cut relies heavily on the previous films, with elements like the flashback of Jamie in Halloween 5 as well as some dialogue that references events in Halloween 5 in more detail. Also the music is very similar to the original, as you pointed out. In this respect, it can be argued that the Producer’s Cut is more of a proper follow-up than the theatrical cut.
However, I feel that the theatrical cut fulfills two roles very effectively. And that is being a proper sequel with just enough backstory while still being able to stand on its own. I think the forces behind the theatrical cut felt like the film would be too bogged down and tied to the last one for general audiences to be able to enjoy it.
This line of thinking makes perfect sense to me and I believe it is a huge reason why there are two cuts. We know they wanted to add some intensity and make it less cheesy but they also removed certain things that would tie it to the previous films. Like the number 6 in the title, the Jamie flashback scene, dialogue referencing past events that isn’t really necessary, and the score that resembles the first film. I really enjoy the music for the theatrical cut. It really gives it a nice 90s vibe, especially the song “And Fools Shine On,” which I love. It really fits the film well. Whoever decided to use that song had a stroke of genius. I can’t completely put my finger on it but for some reason it works perfectly in the film and also in the end credits. I wish this song were on the soundtrack. I own the expanded 2 CD soundtrack but I also just ordered the original 1995 CD release because I’ve heard it before and I really like how the music flows together. The 2 CD set is cool because it has everything but for some reason there’s something about the original condensed release that I like a lot. I think I’ll add “And Fools Shine On” to it to get the full experience. ;)
Anyway, back to the movie! I feel that changing the last 15 or so minutes was brilliant. The P-Cut ending is like a soap opera that greatly diminishes the film. If they still wanted to go in that direction with the reshoots, they should’ve given it a very dark, creepy, gothic look and had Myers massacring all the cult members before attacking Wynn. It would’ve still been bogged down by a lot of cult stuff but it would’ve been way more effective. As it stands, I’m perfectly happy with the theatrical ending and the lack of information we are given. I just assume Wynn was trying to harness evil by performing rituals and doing genetic experiments.
So all of these changes really help to make the theatrical cut of Halloween 6 its own entity. You could watch this film having only seen the first couple and it would make sense. Hell, I think someone could watch it without ever having seen any of the others and it would still make sense. We’re given just enough backstory to be able to figure out what’s going on without getting bogged down in the details. It’s still a great, creepy slasher film with awesome atmosphere. Anyway, didn’t mean to make such a long post. But I just really enjoy your videos and I share your love for this movie! :)

    Good video Lee! :D
I adore the H6 Producers Cut. The ending is a little lacklustre, but it does fit with the film as a whole well enough so I accept it in a way. The atmosphere is the best of all the Halloween films. This film has totally stood the test of time despite the madness of its production. I honestly love it more than the original. 4-6 are my favourites. I'd love them to continue from 6 but I don't think it will ever happen.
Also, I honestly wish Danielle Harris was in this film. She's criminally underrated by the people behind this franchise.
Edit: So cool you did your own cut btw. I do wish the Producers Cut's ending had more vamp like the theatrical. It's the one thing it's missing alongside Danielle. Want to also say I agree that JC Brandy really did a good job as an older Jamie.

I've always loved this movie, It will always have a special place in my heart.
What I love about this movie is one , the tone, It has such a dark and brutal atmosphere with great gore which leads into another great thing about this movie, the kills.
It had great and creative kills, Michael is just terrifying and brutal in this movie especially in the operating room scene.
I also really enjoyed the characters mainly Tommy , Dr Loomis, and Kara, I know most people don't like Kara, but in my opinion I think she was a enjoyable character.
I also love really dig the score , I love the electric guitar beat and eerie feeling it gives off.
Finally, I can not forget to talk about Myers, as I said before he is just absolutely brutal in this movie. George P Wilbur brought such a eerie vibe to his portrayal of Myers and I actually really love the mask.
This movie is my third favorite sequel and I agree it is the most underrated sequel in the franchise.
I'm am happy this movie does have fans.

I'm actually surprised that Halloween 6 never really produced any merchandise, especially at this point after 20-something years. I'd love a Curse of Thorn t-shirt, mug, etc. Give me a good shirt with a picture of A. Michael Lerner's Myers walking toward the camera like in the hospital-chase scene. I'd buy the shit outta that. This movie is so underrated and it only gets better with age.

I loved even as watching it as a little kid and still do. Yes, there is a couple of problems in the movie and it's not as good a few movie's in the series but I still enjoy the movie. Lee you so get this fucking movie. I love it. The theatrical blows the producer's cut away! what you said here are the things i have been trying to tell people. and they just don't get it. i will get them to watch your video and maybe they will understand.
Av been waiting for this cos this is such a great and interesting movie. I love this film for every reason you mentioned.
it never bothered me that JC Brandy played Jamie as much as i love Danielle Harris her character was only 8 or 9 years old in H5 so when you get to 15 years old you would look different. Her death scene in the barn still creeps me out watching it so god damn scary and the ending of that scene is well just brutal.
The film's atmosphere and mood is brilliant. The cinematography is amazing and Michael Myers in this film is so scary when i saw this when i was 12 for the first time it reminded me of the original a lot. Def the most brutal Michael Myers Lee i agree and only second to the original. i won't get into Chris Durand lol (i liked him). The kill scene with the nurse is my favourite in the whole franchise. the look on her face seeing what is about to happen just makes it even better lol. The score also fits perfectly with the tone and atmosphere. it's a great score.
And while am not a fan of thorn or what it represents i think the concept of the idea was good. you need a story and what Halloween 6 actually does is make you believe that Michael is influenced or controlled but he is actually not. The scene at the end where Michael is slaughtering Wynn and the rest of his thorn cult is not only epic but emphasises to the highest degree that you cannot control Michael Myers. it was simply a theory Wynn had. Like a different perspective of evil that Loomis got from him. You never hear Loomis talk about Michael and thorn he just talks about Michael like he always does in Halloween 6. And the producer;s cut does have good scenes like you say. When Loomis is talking about his stroke and also the scene at the beginning when Michael is about to chase Jamie and the gates open letting him out showing that he was held prisoner by Wynn.
love this film. Glad you can see it for what it truly is. you named every single thing i love about this freaking movie.

I actually never minded the exploration of the 'thorn' story line and the explanation
behind Micheal's madness. "Whenever it appears, he appears". lol
Micheal was truly the most brutal in Halloween 6. If you look at the kills across
the series, H6 has some of the most memorable in my opinion.
The electrocution of the stepfather in the basement comes to mind.
When he foams at the mouth and his head explodes, with the flashes
from the electrical current, like a strobe light showing Micheal's eyes behind his mask.
And also the hospital scene is brutal. Or the scene of Micheal slaying the boyfriend
and the showcase of his viciousness in slow-motion through the POV of the telescope.
Just... he was brutal in H6.
There was the Raining Red scene.. etc...
I was a fan of the electric-guitar Halloween theme which I believe only worked for this installment but it's very catchy and well done. I ended up buying the soundtrack.
I liked Micheal's walk in the film. As he moved forward intimidatingly with his fists
    clenched by his sides.
Pleasence's last Halloween film that he starred in.
There's also many flaws in the film too of course.
The casting of Jamie probably being the most controversial, but overall,
I think 6 is one of the more scarier Halloween sequels, maybe the scariest.

I'm so glad someone else really enjoys this movie besides me. For years when I was growing up, I never watched it for a couple reasons. The first is that, for some reason, they would skip over H6 when they would do any type of marathon on tv. It wasn't in the blockbuster near me. I had read reviews of it online and most of them bashed it as the worst Halloween ever made. So I finally bought it on ebay just so I could complete my collection and know how the Thorn story ended. What an under rated movie! Paul Rudd played a grown up kid with PTSD very well, and George Wilburn is second only to Nick Castle because of how quick they walk. You can really feel danger as he is pursuing people in those hallways in the 3rd act. He doesnt walk like a zombie and make it unrealistic that he always catches his prey. I actually enjoy both endings (producers and theatrical) but i wish they could've meshed the two. I wish they left it the same as the theatrical up until Loomis says goodbye to Tommy, but then show Loomis go back into the building and find "Myers" on the floor where Tommy had beaten him, only to unmask him and find out that Myers had gotten up and killed the man in black and swapped places. Then have him yell and cut to that long dark hallway with Myers in the coat to end the movie. I love that shot and wish they could've found a way to keep it in. Keep up the good work with your videos!
