    I don't know why anyone would want to use metal turntable platter mats, as they can damage your records if they get burs in them... you might as well place your records right on the platter...

    I love your upbeat style. It doesnt always have to be expensive. Also I don't like the term chifi. I've bought chinese hifi over 15 years now and its getting better and better. I even have a chinese FFYX TB25mk3 TT with 3 arms. And it's real high end at an affordable price. And several MC carts. Ditto.
    I just swapped opamps in the ZA3's and ... It almost rivals my 4.5k Gato amp.
    I also bought that copper platter (at $70!) and it's great for an old Philips tangential TT that has an incredibly crappy flimsy platter. I can't add much height in there because of the tonearm in the lid so it's a perfect solution. It is a bit rough though.

    guns! and a london calling t-short...sigh.
    I got a za3 earlier this year and honestly? I'm having a hard time finding something more "serious" that sounds better to me. My only real issue with it is the gain is just *way* too high for my small room. I have been noodling around trying to find a solution to that that doesn't change the signature of my system for the worse, with no luck so far. I have an inexpensive passive volume attenuator and it works, but I swear it sounds different in a way I can't quite put my finger on. I have actually been considering getting the xduoo as a preamp, just for the tube effect + resister driven volume control but so far haven't seen any reviews that cover the preamp functionality/sound quality :/ I'd LOVE to see you do a review of the xduoo + za3 together!!!!

    I love my TA66 streaming from WiiM pro into my Ifi zen signature + dac into the amp. Nice rich sound. It’s biggest drawback is high ohm headphones work well like my Senheiser HD660S 300 ohm work and sound great but my older Denon 38 ohm are nothing but static.

    I want to call everything and everyone from China “Funese”. 😆
    Anyway…got enjoying some FunFi in the last year, all these little boxes remind me of the bolts that come out of Frankensteins neck.
    Got the TA-66 on order, happy with the Fosi Audio MO4 sub amp I plugged in last week and looking at my first piece of FunFi the Douk Audio P1 that I have no complaints about but it’s kind of hemorrhaged off to the sidelines as my WiiM Pro Plus with two complimentary WiiM minis have taken the complexity of my sonic environment far out into the stratosphere of sonic Nirvana.

    When you show the 32V, 5A power supply with very little filter caps and not sure if it produces 300 watts, you should be sure that it does not! Sorry that so many either have little idea or refuse to be the ones to cross the marketing fluff.

    I absolutely agree that sound bars are garbage. An unknown amp, drivers etc? There is no justification for sound bars.
    For headphones I'm very happy with my Grado RS2X's. I don't doubt there are better headphones available, but these do what I need extremely well.

    Why add all that weight to your platter, those little drive motors were not designed to spin.

    • @UnitedStatesofAnalog
      @UnitedStatesofAnalog  3 місяці тому +1

      Fair question! Lots of people use record weights. I noticed the strobe was steady while playing. However, maybe it is putting undue stress. More investigation is definitely warranted.

    • @Jeep_on_audio
      @Jeep_on_audio 3 місяці тому

      For the motor some extra weight isn't an issue at all. Once it's spinning extra weight adds extra moment of inertia though. That makes the platter spin more constant. Which is always welcome.
      If you add a lot of extra weight it -might- be an issue for the spindle bearing though. That's why I prefer a spindle gripping 'smart' clamp rather than a dumb weight. Also, I put a little foam ring under the lp around the spindle so the clamp pushes the vinyl down better (it adds a little twist as it were). Works great.

    • @jdekong3945
      @jdekong3945 3 місяці тому

      Best thing to do is giving a helping hand at start up, once it’s spinning there is momentum the motor will be fine

      I agree. They make really good choices in picking stuff people like or need. But they don't always engineer things themselves. Often they just rebrand things. But they carry it to a greater audience.

  • @daleboylen6427

    So, the guy that knows NOTHING about audio (Randy aka cheapaudioman) is going "High end" and the guy that knows a bit about audio (Bob) is going all fun fi all the time. It's so 2024. How many "Fun fi" review channels does the world really need Bob? There have to be DOZENS already. They must pay well as even a former Abbey Road engineer is reviewing these crappy little amps. Find a different Niche.
    Randy will fail on a biblical scale if he tries to review high end gear.
    While the fun fi buyers and subs don't know or care much about audio, high end buyers are a different animal altogether.
    I"ll enjoy watching Randy fail, of course. Ever since he told me I was "Full of crap" it's been my calling to destroy him.
    I sold high end audio for 15 years. Managed the biggest audio chain in Colorado. I'd get engineers from Digital or HP in, and they'd ask "What's the negative feedback on this amplifier"? You had better know that spec, cause if you didn't or were wrong, they would walk out. They always asked for a spec sheet to see if you knew what the hell you were talking about. I always did. Randy? LOL.
    Randy's doomed if he tries high end. Totally, completely doomed.
    I'll relish the demise of the guy who doesn't even care about his own KIDS enough to strap them in his SUV at 75MPH.
    I'll criticize every word he utters wrong in any high end review. I won't be alone either.

      You’re probably one of those guys that demanded an appointment to come into your store. Maybe you’d look up if someone asked a question, or maybe you wouldn’t if you didn’t think the customer was worth your time. I sold hifi in the 70s. I knew plenty guys like you.

      Full of crap? Who knows. Full of bile and bitterness, that seems obvious. Isn't it exhausting being angry all the time? You clearly are suffering from a super high level of negative feedback yourself. Do you know the figures?

      @Jeep_on_audio 3 місяці тому

      I agree for the most part (not following Randy anymore). But you are wrong when it comes to Bob. It's about getting more young people into listening to music that sounds good.
      I'm all into Fun Fi, even though my system is true high end. But a lot of stuff from China is just really good and very underappreciated. And very suitable to get the young ones off their crappy earshattering earbuds and really enjoying music.

    Not much “fun" for the child labour working in slave like conditions there or the loss of jobs and revenue here but who cares if its cheap hey plus you will get a lot of free stuff spruking it. Winner Winner Chicken Dinner. If big names are making stuff there guess what you still dont need to buy it🙃
