This NEW $69 STREAMER Does MORE! Costs LESS! (Now On Sale!)
Thanks for sharing. Cool shop.
They use conicals on the budget tables, not only to keep the costs down, but also because the relatively simple, unsophisticated arms with their higher bearing friction do not work well with an elliptical. For one, these arms have no adjustments for the proper tracking force,or antiskate that ellipticals need to track the groove properly. And the tracking force on these arms also tend to be too high for ellipticals,as is this arm, with a 2.5 gram force is not recommendd for an elliptical-it would cause more wear on the groove wall, due to it's smaller "footprint".Sphericals do less damage in these arms, but are much more prone to "groove pinch",especially in the inner grooves. These kinds of players were intended to get people started at an affordable price, yet,in all honesty, they should be restricted to playing Disney kiddie records,or Taylor Swift albums--you know, ones you don't really care about. Not my Sheffield collectible Direct-to-Disc albums.
I jst finished watching your video "DON'T buy a turntable if you can't handle these 10 things''.Then,I jumped to this video, recommending this A-T unit. My comment here will cover both these vidos.I have been interested in audio reproduction for the last 58 years(since about 1965),and became serious in acquiring QUALITY equipment about 1973.My first was a Garrard SL95B,which I traded shortly afterward, for a Dual 1209 because it had MUCH better build quality,a better tonearm assembly, and the 4-POUND platter, and had more features.I paid the grand sum of $120,which was a LOT for me at that time, but I was VERY happy with it.I used that turntable for decades, making modifications to it,until I lost it in a move. But I was a fan of Duals for LIFE! Since that time,I have accumulated quite a number of Duals, the least expensive being a 1218 I bought for $4.95 at a thrift store(really!),another score being a Dual 701 for $75 which had one broken part(which I fixed). The most I have paid, was for another Dual 701 for $1000,and a 721,both fully reconditioned by Bill Neumann of FixMyDual. The 701 was(and STILL is) THE BEST production Turntable(AND the best DD)EVER built! And I am more fortunate than most,as I know HOW to repair, modify, and set up my own equipment,as well! I won't comment on the A-T LP70 unit here--I will just gloat as I play my reconditioned $4.95 Dual 1218 thrift-store special,or my $75 Top-of-the-line repaired 701--STILL running after 50 years!--with the Shure V15 Type III with Micro-Ridge stylus--while others have to pay $250 to get their entry-level model!😁
Oh--did I happen to mention, that the Shure V15IIIMR (not conical) that came FREE with my Dual, tracks up to 40 cm/sec. groove velocity at only ONE gram?
look like a crap store with old crap.......
Wow Bob !¡! Cassettes & LPz Gees ~ what a nostalgic place. The closest we had here in Boston was HMV - multiple floors of Records to be had in the 80's & 90's. Finally got my dream system a few years back centered on single ended directly heated triode gear via a local audio enthusiast group. That 'One Stop' Austin shop sure would-ah made things easier. Have a fantastic holiday and best wishes to you in the new year.
Wow. If I ever get a chance to visit, I would never leave that place.
I own two Teac 7" reel to reels but have always lusted after a 10". Although if I found one, I'd have to sell one or two of my six turntables to make room! Always enjoy your videos. Happy Hollardays!
Grew up with music on the HH Scott 222C tube amp. At a young age, 5-6 years old, fascinated by the glow of the tubes and the little red light on the front that glowed once the tubes had warmed up. That feeling hasn't left me yet.
Dig the Empire turntable unfortunately don’t think they’re available in Australia
You said there are no good options in the $200 dollar to $300 dollar range. The audio technica AT-LP120 is about $250 dollars, I’m why that is not a good option?
@@AaronRood-x1y No prob with that deck. The retail on that is $350. Looks like it's a smashing deal now. Go for it! Thanks!
Subbed. Lose the hat! From NH
@@judih.8754 Haven't you heard? I'm the Audiophile with a Hat! Seriously, thanks for the sub!
Nice work Bob. As a man of a certain age, I relate to all your videos. Old school hi fi e.g. turntables and tapes is like having a wood burning fireplace. Part of the fun & enjoyment is being hands on. You must tend to it, like you are part of the experience. Streaming is cool and convenient, but no substitute for the joy of vinyl.
@@SteveP-n7r I'm happy that you get it! I never lost the bug!
Hey, glad to see the hat back. I think it's a cool shtick for ya.
I enjoy a rakish trilby! Thanks!
I worked in several record stores in Portland, OR and one in Aberdeen, WA for, collectively, about 20 years, beginning in 1972.. In 1972, we sold LPs, 8 tracks and that newer format, cassettes. I miss the camaraderie of discussing music with my customers, suggesting artists they may not have heard before, and discovering the customers' tastes. The excitement of new release day, seeing all of those new releases every week. I miss the general atmosphere and, although not as comprehensively as streaming provides, the discovery of new artists, genres, and music. I miss those days and I'm so glad that i have all of those memories.
I hear ya. Those were the days!
We still got a place 3 of them, they're called Wooden Nickle , been around since the 70s!!
What part of the country!
Excellent information delivered in bad form by a pedantic snob.
Oh shit!!! Mazzys bloody everywhere now. 😉 I really enjoyed this 🤘
Wow, what an interesting place! I had just been looking at very vintage turntables, that Fairchild looks cool! I worked in a local record store in College during the change over to CDs, one of my favorite places to work ever! My diverse musical tastes today come from those years of learning so much from both other employees, the owner & customers!
Great video. This is a great way to see so many great stores.
I bought this and i initially liked it and the stock tubes sound ok so i bought a pair of Mullard reissues and Psvane Arts 12au7 from reputable sellers to try and well... both resulted in low volume + extreme channel imbalance issues that I could not resolve and yet the stock tubes work fine. Honestly disappointed and don't know what is causing the issue
Fantastic, thanks for taking us along! Surely my kind of place.
just got mine for $199 on amazon, very excited!
this was super helpful!
Great memories Bob. I miss Sam The Record Man and A&A Records on Yonge St in Toronto... and Vortex for the used stuff. Best of times. Hope you and the family have a fantastic Merry Christmas and a great and prosperous New Year.
@United States of Analog : ( great handle btw ) Thank you for sharing something personal from you, which I deem much more worthy spending my time on ( as compared to these mostly technical reviews and facts listings ). Have a blessed Holiday over there in the Texas region.
cool. thanks for the detour.

Thanks for the review. Here is the system I have in the "CART": RAW + Gremlin + Lokius. All that's missing is the right O/B headphones. Can anyone recommend something for around $400?
Might have bought one if it had balance control. Victoria B.C. Canada
Great video! Thank you.
Great Video Definitely something people should see before starting down the vinyl path.
Dust is everywhere around us even we don't see it. There are no dust free rooms in home. 90% of home dust comes from human hair and skin debris. Can't be avoided. Leaving record spinning without dust cover is a best way to get dirty record. Record clamps and weight are snake oil and mats are very close to that. Best investment is in stylus, or even full cartridge+stylus.
Lol. Thx! I had to subscribe!
They only made 1000 it’s a lot of hype because the only refined piece is a different set of ear pads.
everything wrong with this video, but we live in a present where the most complete ( -------- ) can talk like a teacher, and most the audience agrees. do yourself a favor, get rid of all that and build a mixng mastering recording home studio to add plugins, manipulate songs. learn proper speaker placement etc.
@@arcadepiano Happy Holidays! Thanks for your notes!
Watching, from Apex, North Carolina USA, FYI.
How are these a 2am volume?
Add 78 rpm. I have an inherited upright Victrola with plenty shellac records. Plus, I need it to be friendly for my wife to operate!
Red hat fucking followers got to go😊
Yep tip #1. WRONG AND WRONG. #2 gotta bee careful with the recommendation “Cheap” isolation feet #3 ok #4 ok #5 ok #6. ?????? WTH???
Maybe the fact that you have 6 tips means using records and a turntable is inherently inferior to…well, anything else. You’re hearing more distortion every time you play a record. It’s like fighting uphill and trying to get better and better shoes so you slip less.
Great video ! Keep the baseball lol
Wonderful lecture, and demonstration. Actually, I have up to 4 turntables, and I have, or am going to have up to three turntables connected to my main hi fi audio system downstairs.🎵🎶
So much sense here 👍 and very well presented.
