Since of your age i have a question. For starters right now i have klipsch everything in all my rooms with TVs and i have 5 Sono Moves splattered around the house to play our phones from when we are working on house or chores. I’m a contractor and I’m about to turn my garage into a home gym and i already have about 30,000 dollars in workout equipment so im going to make this gym look like a real cool gym. Here’s my question because we aren’t far off in age -I’ve always had a home gym and i always had 4-6 of the tall floor speakers we grew up with that had all the speakers and woofer in one box-i always loved the sound in my gyms and i like how the floor absorbs some of the sound. I dont have those speakers anymore and i have like 2-12inch powered Sony subwoofers and 2 infinity center channels speakers,1 Boston acoustic center channel speaker and 12 of those Bose double speaker cubes that i thought about putting in the gym but im not sure thats going to give me that old feel. I’m a rocker/metal listener especially when working out so the music is from the era of the speakers i like. So i thought about those portable JBL loudspeaker things that are portable for parties and karaoke ,etc and get 2 of them because they have good bass & i hear them in Vegas by all the street performers but im still not sure if thats what im looking for. What would be your choice being that you’ve been doing this along time and kind of know what I’m talking about. I need the bass and loud not so concerned with clarity on every little ting in a symbol. At somepoint I’ll be watching because after this i want to upgrade my main TV to the ultimate system but for now I’m having trouble figuring this one out and maybe i just stick with the Frankenstein setup up i explained i have laying around.

Anyone interested a Shure RXP3 cartridge is pretty sweet to. Pretty rich and balanced sounding.

One super cool thing I do with my AR XA turntable, if an album sounds a bit to bright I take off my acrylic mat and put a wool mat on instead. Sometimes that all it takes. I do this fairly often rather changing my EQ settings. You would be amazed how well this works at times. Running a beautiful Shure V15 III,,, 1970's chromed cartridge.

Was hoping this was a parametric EQ. I love those things! Parametric EQ's so much more useful. Can pull back a bad single freq instead of trying to make up for it with adjacent sliders. All good.

Don’t you find it needs an external DAC to match the sound? That is how I found with my Wiim Amp, regardless of what spec said, decent external DAC bypassing its own sounds much much better to me…$299 is right price before adding a DAC…

Has anyone used this with a TV? How did that go?

I'm still wondering how RoomPerfect compares to DIrac Live or Audyssey. It's supposed to be better but I wonder if you can really hear the difference with a Denon AV of say a 1000 dollars difference in price.

I'll tell ya this: I'd damn sure expect more and better for that price. I'm plenty happy with my Audio-Technica LP120XUSB, and that was $350. Is it "the perfect audiophile turntable?" No, but then, ask any audiophile what IS and you'll start World War III. I'd say for something that's trying to mimic an SL-1200 at less than a third the price, it's pretty close to being perfect for ME. At least when paired with a good external preamp (I don't like the sound of the one that's built-in; it's a bit too harsh for my ears). Seems to me that, with THIS unit, you're paying for the "cool" look and the big JBL logo on the front.

Looking forward to this being released and hearing reviews of it. I have never owned a streamer, but I’m considering adding one to my 2.1 rig now. It simply seems so convenient. I’m old (70’s), and I think the future of Hi Fi is here. No telling where it will go from here, but I’m sure it will be in the digital domain. Judging from my grandson’s habits & lifestyle, I believe he would have an all digital stereo system. 🎶

I have TA-66 arriving next week and I am looking forward to comparing w/ Darkvoice. I actually use my Darkvoice primarily as a pre-amp because it sounds so damn good - much better than another tube amp that I used to own at 2X the price. The magic must be the point to point design! Where else can we get point to point hardwired pre-amps without spending thousands of dollars !

I have just sent another email because I intend to visit my storage unit today to search for both the CD player I offered you and a GoPro Hero 8 Black I offered to NRV Outdoors. But he has responded to my emails but you never have, so I am not certain if I have made an error in my writing of your address or if you have chosen not to respond... I am going to my storage unit today, so please do respond to my email sent minutes ago so I know whether to bother searching for the CD player or not. The absolute absence of responses from you has appeared to be a clear sign I shouldn't bother as you appear not to be interested. A response to my email will at minimum indicate if I should or should not find the CD player. Thanks, David

I absolutely agree that sound bars are garbage. An unknown amp, drivers etc? There is no justification for sound bars. For headphones I'm very happy with my Grado RS2X's. I don't doubt there are better headphones available, but these do what I need extremely well.

Actually I am in the process of changing my whole system and so I am in that kind of dirty mental loop trying to listen to whatever I can 🙂...and of course making a decision is complicated, as usual. The Forte IV are an option indeed, among those I am looking at, considering my budget of course. And I am going to listen to them soon at a store here near to where I live. So I wanted to ask you, because of the emphasis on basses...which amplifier would better drive them? I am speaking of integrated ones (no tube), and what I am looking at right now is ROTEL RA 1572 MKII, Luxman L-505 UXII and HEGEL H190v. In your opinion, which one of these 3 would better drive the Forte IV? Have you had any chance to pair on of those? Suggestions? And more in general, what power range would you suggest to stay at with the amp, to better drive the Forte's? Hope my English still sounds (and reads) reasonable 🙂 Thanks, Mario

Come on unless you are implementing 2 x McIntosh MC901 Dual Mono Amplifier with differential hybrid tube and solid state outputs you are going to be severely disappointed. Try spending $40k just to get started.

Been trying to enjoy late night vinyl on headphones cause of my 3 young kids but I totally agree! Spent $600 on the Meze 99 and IFI headphone amp for it.

Old news. People have been using inexpensive cd/dvd players are transports for a looooong time. How about this: did you compare your $24 DVD player to a decent Sony or Yamaha DVD/cd player using both as transports only? Just wondering how good of a transport the Onn is.

I did my own capacitor upgrade but didn't use the Jupiter cap that they sell on ZU- the cap that was on the budget version was a super cheap Bennic. But, using my capacitor, I think it was a very good Mundorf, the tweeter came in WAY too bright . I had to put potentiometers on the back to tone it down, not knowing the resistance value I might need. ZU has probably vetted the proper high grade capacitor you would need and after my experience I would stay with what they offer. Also, the full range woofer cone is so stiff I would spring for the factory break-in to get more bass
