I have a pet theory that Kanami mixes herself low because she doesn't want those little "decorations" she throws in to overpower the vocals or other things going on (which was your point, I guess). They are there for color and atmosphere - they are not the main point. In the last phrases of her solo Kanami repeats the last note of the chord she's outlining. So cool. At about 2:15, the end of the first verse going into the chorus, MISA almost goes to a knee because every bassist knows getting lower physically really helps those bass notes project. By the time October gets here it will be just over THREE YEARS since they played in the States. I'm thinking there might be some pent-up energy.
I have to agree with you on mixes and the pent up energy,it's going to be amazing, but if you want to hear Kanami's guitar, get your hands on Shinkiba Studio Coast Tokyo 2017 serving,I've listened/ watched most and this is the very best sound I've heard, Awkward is amazing.
The best part of seeing them live is when they are right in front of you and you don't know who to look at: Misa constantly vibing on the bass, Akane smiling and making faces while playing insanely complex drum patterns, Kanami being a rockstar and then suddenly switching back to her usual meek personality in between songs, or Miku wokring hard to lay down rhythym and pumping up crowd whenever there is a break or solo. But somehow I always end up looking at Saiki because she just oozes charisma on the stage. Whether it's ittle interactions with each other and the crowd, making faces at each other or trying to make Akane laugh during songs, it's just constant smiles all around. Also when Miku does her little Magic Spell time spiel, try to watch the other girls because they are always fooling around or making fun of her behind her back lol. My personal favorite place to stand is center-left because I can feel every note from Misa's bass in my chest and it always surprises me how complex her bass lines are on a lot of songs because you can't hear everything she's playing on most of their recordings. And I know it's frowned upon by some people, but usually I wear noise-reducer earplugs because they are very, very loud up close and I want to hear everything clearly without blowing my ears out halfway through the show.
Can't help it, this old Aussie boy is bloody jealous 😂 That's a big part of my passion for this band - having fun - I have worked with and have seen many bands who look like their time on stage is the same as having a prostate examination. Viva the Maids 👍🎼🍻

I want to be up close, but worry that I won't get a full and clean mix of sound, but if I'm farther back I won't be able to see them as well. What are anyone's thoughts on that? OCTOBER! Man, it's so far away I did something I didn't think I'd ever do -- I bought the insurance for the ticket. I mean, the pandemic is still going, there's war in Europe, and who knows what else is gonna to happen in the interim. What, is it going to start raining parachute spiders next? Oh, wait, it is... What I didn't do is buy the VIP ticket when I had the chance, because I was in a panic to get ANY ticket I could for the small Boston show. I still wake up mad about it. But then I remember it's BAND-MAID, and I am happy I got a ticket at all. I wonder how much it would cost to be cryogenically frozen until October?

If he doesn't Miku will stop and point him out and ask "Are you okay? Are you tired? Do you need a rest?" As the Japanese phrase goes, "It can't be helped.'
Haruna's (Lead V, rhythm G. for Scandal + BFF to Akane) people should tell Akane's people to move the Band Maid concert venue from Belasco (LA) to House of Blues (Anaheim, OC, 27 mi. from LA), Po! Less restrictions and you can add 700 more Maidiacs to the venue + more parking at Disneyland. Scandal will be performing at HoB (Anaheim) in July (going, and the prelude to BM - Sac., LA, SD and Houston). 6 months 2 weeks 5 days 19 hours.
Ryan, you are gearing yourself for the Tour! Have a care or you will burn out before it even starts! I know the feeling as it is sometimes hard to forget them while working or being busy at daily chores. Many a time have I caught myself humming away one of their songs! Now, the best I can wish for you is that they put out a new album before he Tour! It will help you wait! Take good care of yourself (ves)! Best regards, Robert-Gilles
@@GaryHolloway-810 That's what I've been thinking. Do they wait to do another drop because they haven't been able to play UW in front of live fans... or introduce another 12 new songs and somehow work that into their 2022 tour setlist. So many blockbuster songs for "only" two hours! I don't think any other band (unless it's a multi-decades-long mega band) has that problem.
I decided to come at you with a totally different suggestion for a reaction for you. IMO, the reason that there are so many good rock bands in Japan is because of the existence of "light music clubs" in so many middle and high schools. In many schools, students are required to be a member of a club, and a lot of them will stick to that club throughout middle and high school. The light music club consists of people playing "band-like" instruments like guitars, drums, keyboard, bass, etc. The kids will form bands and practice/perform at school festivals and such. In Band-Maid, both Akane and Misa have talked about being in these clubs, and I think Kanami was, too, starting in high school. (Saiki hasn't mentioned her school club stuff that I can recall, and I believe Miku has said she was in a broadcast club, like doing radio kind of stuff.) The band I'd suggest is called Accent; I think they're a good example of one of these bands that started playing together really early, most likely due to influence of these clubs that promote this style of music. The band is a three-piece; guitar, bass, and drums. The three young ladies are Haru (age 15), Fumi (age 14), and Kanon (age 15). They've been posting covers on their UA-cam channel for several years; the channel was started in 2017. I'd suggest one of their original tracks, like Future, to show what these kids are already doing at this age. It's pure pop-rock (Silent Siren is their favorite band), but it's just awesome to see how polished they have managed to become before they even got into high school. (BTW in Future, they're all 11-12 years old.) For a more recent example of their skill growth, check out Sayonara wo Tsugeru with a guest singer/guitarist. That one was done a few months ago. (They also did a cover of Band-Maid's Don't You Tell Me a couple years ago.)
Reading some of the comments from people who have seen Band Maid previously, they all seem to be from small venues and people on the floor. Not sure of the size venue you will be seeing Band Maid and if it is all seating? You may have a balcony seat? Anyway the point I am trying to make is the wonderful intimacy of the small venues and the upfront touching the stage or a yard or two from it, may not be possible for people lucky enough to have a ticket to see Band Maid on this tour.
They are still relatively small. Bigger than the ones in these videos, but no seating. 2 venues got moved to larger capacity venues... which is good for them, but took one from 500 to 900 people. I was looking forward to a 500 cap venue!
When I waited with about 800 Maidiacs (near the front, of course), and then the Maid waltz started, it was pretty loud but not at the volume and fidelity I was hoping. After they quickly got situated on their rigs, turned their backs to their cheering fans, and Miku and Kanami held out their skirts in a respectful curtsy, the room went silent until... suddenly, the beginning wind down effect cuing Real Existence boomed in and the Maids blasted their intro power chord that shook the house at maximum db's announcing this was about to be an unbelievable musical experience from my Band of Maids! I can't wait for Oct. either, Ryan!
