I think it's a bit hidden because this single is the only version of it (that I know of). I guess things were worse in the pre-internet days, but at least now I can find it *somewhere*. :-)
The seemingly endless drumroll into and through the second chorus (then solo) of hide-and-seek is one of my favorite parts of any song ever. I think everything about how that was built up relative to the first chorus is just done perfectly. Sadly, there are no decent pro-shot videos of this. Not only is it not on any album, it's not even on the Glory single release playlist. The only way to find it on YT is via search. Truly, a hidden gem. I've seen Glory live a couple of times and, shocker, it's even better live. They played both Glory and Screaming at PointFest in St. Loius. Both great choices for a festival.
I agree about that build up to the drum roll, through the solo... Such a well-put-together bit of song. SO many rock songs, I can easily envision how they're composed: "The bass player hits these three notes in succession for 200 measures. The drummer does this 4/4 thing endlessly. The lead guitar repeats the hook/riff except for the solo... Etc." BUT Band-Maid songs are just so much more than that -- I feel submerged by the compositional magic whenever I'm listening.
Hide and Seek is one of my favorites. It’s complex, layered and constructed in a way where it’s always changing but it still comes off as a great rock song.
The Glory and Bubble singles were released simultaneously. Glory was the end theme for the 2nd season of the anime Yu-Gi-Oh! VRAINS, and Bubble was the theme for a tv show called Perfect Crime. They were sold separately or as a limited edition package deal that included 3 single song CDs that were not available otherwise, a studio version of Onset, an acoustic studio version of Anemone, and an acoustic studio version of Puzzle.
@@Chan_Fry The studio version of Onset was also included with a "white room" video as part of the bonus bluray/dvd from the Conqueror Limited Editions. The white room instrumental videos on the bonus discs have 5 versions. One of the band (minus Saiki), and 4 optional versions that focus on each member individually. The band version is uploaded on the youtube channel "Instrumental Maid", but that's not an official channel so probably not a good one to react to (but at least you can watch/hear it).
glory is ending theme song for the anime Yu-Gi-Oh VRAINS, which is about virtual reality games, thus in the MV, they are performing the song in virtual world through their VR-headsets.
I'm still hoping we get a good pro-shot version of hide-and-seek someday. I ended up putting the CD audio over the top of a fan cam so I have a video to watch with clear audio. Not sure why I like the song so much, but it's top third, at least, for me..
Maybe you're right! (Though, in the past, I've failed to find any "good" rock stations here... Classic rock is acceptable to me, except for the same ~100 songs on constant rotation for decades...)
Enjoyed your comments as usual, Chan. I've usually been ambivalent about "Glory" but I really like "Hide and Seek." There's something about the rhythm of it that I really like, like it's a bit syncopated and that really makes me want to keep listening to it. See you again soon, I hope.
I do like that they're both up-tempo, yet completely different songs with zero overlap. Both have been stuck in my head in the days since I recorded this. :-)
Hide and Seek is one of my favorite BM songs. I got to see them perform it at The Gramercy Theatre and The Mercury Lounge, NYC in 2019. I have a recording of Hide and Seek from The Mercury Lounge on my channel @wilmac1.
hide and seek is a glorious song ! :) what a rhythm section! an explosive second half - rolling drums, driving bass and hysterical (good sense) guitar solo - rock n roll perfection - and i do not understand why this is not a live staple - then again they do have another 130 songs to choose from. but most bands would kill to have a song half as good as this one.
Love the slightly spooky end to the Glory MV. What and who is VR and what and who is real? Also I ( Do I say this in every song) just love Miku's backing vocals. Hide and Seek always feels an experimental idea that probably led to other things and to other songs. One of those songs that can have a dozen plays each play throwing out things that you may have missed the first eleven times you heard it.
I'm surprised you picked up that many stations... Is it because your neighborhood is on the other side of the southern ridge, so you have line of site to Austin? I think I get about 15 total here in town, though I haven't done the exact test you have. :-) Not surprised at the number of religious stations or country music...
I feel Hide and Seek is kind of a hidden gem because I don't see many people talk about it.

あっ先に言われた😮The five maids still have many hidden gems. It's fun to search for them and dig them out.😃
When I see Band-Maid, I like, subscribe, and watch 🤘

Interesting info! I'd sure like it if those versions were available on Spotify (or YT for that matter), but I'll take what I can get. :-)

I don’t mind at all if you back up and want to listen to something again as long as it’s our favorite band. Thanks Chan, awesome as usual.

Cool! I didn't know that....interesting.
I did not know that either. Thx! 🕊️
Makes sense! Thanks.

lol, great intro, Chan! Pretty sure that dead-air frequency was the good rock station :) Great pair of songs, love 'em both!

I think that 2019 NYC video is one that I found while searching for a live version. Must've been a fun show! :-)
@@Chan_Fry it was great! Misa shared her whiskey with one of the fans and Miku came down off the stage and talked to us during the MC.
January 16 2019 was the most blessed day in the recent history.
It was a pretty good day, wasn't it? :-)
@@Chan_Fry yeah, 2 Band maid's singles in one day. I don't care what else happened in that day. but this is more than enough:)

I completely agree that most rock bands never achieve a song as good as "Hide-and-Seek", or if they do, they only have one. :-)

Yes, very thought-provoking ending to "Glory". Both of these have been rolling through my mind in the days since recording this. :-)
It's Band-Maid doing Band-Maid things!
Glory and Bubble were commissioned by different sponsors, so they had to release these songs as separate singles.
I think the legal/contractual end of the music business has to be my least favorite part. :-)
Glory was a tie in song with Yugioh. The VR was to also tie in the anime as well

It might be the south thing... But I think most days I don't pick up quite that many stations... Maybe the air was just more clear on that day. :-)
