Top tips, end off. Excellent to watch and you Sir are without doubt a character with the patter / banter and a total Plastering Professional approach, dam good to watch.
Hey Kirk great videos mate , I’ve been a general builder for the last 26 years and do my fair share of plastering but because I’m not doing it everyday I’m not the quickest and I can’t do wet angles to save my life , any chance of a good video on this .. 53 years old and still keen to learn . Cheers man keep up the good work .. Paul , North Devon .
Assume you have an internal trowl mate? If so run it in one motion, if leaving a mark wait until the second trowl so you won’t leave lines… push progressively harder keeping the internal wet. If you need to fill put the plaster at the tip of the internal place in the hole and run again
You are very skilled, I’ve done a bit of tape and joint, but I’m just looking how effortless you move the trowel and spread the multi finish to perfection you can see years of experience and craftsmanship keep up the good work
Yet again another great vid Kirk . I had a sagging problem few months ago on a curved ceiling fortunately I figured it out seeing you do it how you just did just shows me I did it rite 👌🏻
Love the way he says why would ya work like a crazy man doing 7am starts…. After he has the house paid off…😂 great videos and a top Man, Master Craftsman 💯
Hi Kirk watched quite few of your vids now I honestly say you are a top bloke & exceptionally skilled at your trade wish you was close to cleethorpes I would book you for couple of jobs because quality job done and great fella
Kirk.. not content with just training his apprentice to be a great plasterer but also wants his apprentice to be a top class documentary maker too for when his elbows have had enough! haha 😊
Loving your videos Kirk, tip of the day so you still have the energy to play with your son when you get home buy more of them adjustable hop-ups, I have the same ones as you they are great and don't squeak like the cheaper ones, I line them up the length of the room for longer rooms just add a scaffold board in between them, it saves all that up and down and because the hop ups are wide the plastering bucket fits on them so that saves more up and downs, and when trowling up you can trowel the full length of the room, if Kieiren is not busy on his phone sorting out his nightlife :) he might even move them forward and back in front of you, i have to move my own lol but as long as i have my radio and tea i am happy, keep smiling and making hard work look easy Kirk 🍺🍵
Hi Kirk, another great vid. Can you advise please. I have artex ceilings in my house which was built in 1983 ish. The ceilings themselves are in good nick and solid. I have been advised by a plasterer that all my downstairs ceilings need re-boarding before plastering to stop them from cracking when someone walks upstairs. Seems like BS to me?
Great videos. I have watched the majority of your videos which have helped me no end! I have a problem with a boarded ceiling which I skimmed during the hot weather 😢 with a window open It has crazed all over. Can I sbr and reskim on a cooler day? Could I
I find multi when it's old goes sorr of like perished and dead slippy .horrible to use when it's like that .do like it when it's got plenty of months left on the bag tho
'I've never met him, but i like him' that statement is a real truth when following other tradesmen/diyers work, i have had many moments of appreciating the consideration of the people preparing work for me, and you dont want to know the way i describe the people who leave a nightmare for me follow on from, LOL
Hi Kirk, i think they put to many chemicals with these presant day powder form plaster they do the same with febmix not the same as it used to be if its not broke leave it alone thats my motto
Hi looking for some help please. I plastered my bathroom ceiling today and the plaster dried out well to quick I couldn't keep up so in the end I gave up. Should I leave it to dry out before attemping again or can I try again tomorrow? Also will I need to SBR again if so? Thank you
kirk ive just come across a patch of limewash on stairwell wall what do you stabilise it with?? does that go with distemper aswel? i thought i had to sugar soap it scrape it then stabilize then sbr
Old school I’m the same with my son every thing clean when skimming hate back of trowels full shit makes it heavy 😂😂 to use and your walls will be better no fat marks 👍👍👍
How long have you had that carbon steel trowel looks well used budd, just bought one myself looking forward to using it All the best liam plasterer South Wales
Absolutely stunning work as always Kirk. A true master. Another new tip with the taking the plaster off the back corner of the hawk. Sorry I haven't been able to watch as many of your vids lately. Been so busy working on my garden outside of my job 😆 And the more skimming vids the merrier. I'll never complain about how many you make. Just wish I could lend you my GoPro and chest mount so you could record your point of view in 4K for true extreme close up of how it's done!
Not plastered for 15 years yours vids helping me out... awesome 👍🏽

Bs in the sense of them cracking from walking from above, but i always advise over boarding over artex, belt and braces
Great videos. I have watched the majority of your videos which have helped me no end!
I have a problem with a boarded ceiling which I skimmed during the hot weather 😢 with a window open
It has crazed all over.
Can I sbr and reskim on a cooler day?
Could I
As long as its well adhered then yes, give it a scrape first and see if it just scrapes off mate
@@Onthetrowel thanks and keep up the good work. 👍
Hey Kirk great vid, could you tell us what the stabilise solution you use to go over them lime washed walls would be, thanks m8

Fab video. Nice see Kieron doing some plastering 👍🏻😁. Does he get to fair bit or does he do more filming??
Both, he hates filming 🤣
🤣🤣🤣🤣
Great vids kirk...
how many times is ideal to flatten ceiling plaster??
I personally give it 2 coats and then trowel over it 4 tines
1st coat
2nd coat
Flattening trowel
Wet trowel #1
Wet trowel #2
Polish (no water)
Another top video where do you get your paddle brushes mate

Hi master have a good work.
Why ain't we getting any shorts uploaded Kirk enjoy them little videos mate we need more.
Had a nightmare recently with a customer trying to rip me off so head has been in kill mode. All sorted now though 🙂
Oh shit mate I had the same last year November only got the money of them 2 weeks ago I know you're pain
Always thought that the fiber tape could do with being abit wider than standard especially for when scrimming internal angles.
I always buy 100mm tape now, it's much nicer to use, and as you say, plenty of flange (love that word) on internal angles.
kirk ive just come across a patch of limewash on stairwell wall what do you stabilise it with?? does that go with distemper aswel? i thought i had to sugar soap it scrape it then stabilize then sbr
Stabilising solutmatw. You can get it fro screwfix pal
Lime wash is that known as distemper what stabiliser do u need to use
Great tip video pal . Love these.
Have you seen/heard about the shamfering tool for p/board?
Looks like a plane, I might try it out...
Hi I’ve got a ceiling which is the old lath and plaster and some has fell off how do I patch it up
Bonding or Plasterboard
GR8 vid as always Kirk! Can you recommend a good waterproofer for sand and cement render on an internal wall? Thankyou.
They will alm be fine but I personally buy cementone integral waterproofer.
@@Onthetrowel thanks so much.... Now go to bed! Lol!
Hi Kirk, why is it you prefer board Finnish?
Sets quicker
He literally explains why in the video
Kirk..a total novice I’m going have go at plastering a wall..multi finish or board finish..what would a master tradesman suggest best for me use?? 😁👍🏻
Multi mate
Cheers for that.
Also do you put Skrim on 1st then sbr after?? 👍🏻

Your neley as good as me at it pal
you have got so much to learn about plaster your only young another 20 years first before recommendation
U on a live tonight kirk?
I was no 1.😁
I seen/heard a lot of people in the trade using paper tape instead of mesh tape. Is there a specific reason you're not using paper tape?
Paper tape is old fashioned and for tape and jointing not skimming
Love it boys. Great work.
Should HAVE!!
So I got a plaster on site with me and I find myself telling him to take a little bit and go in neat 😂
