If I may, the word "content" derives it into ingredients. Immeasurable value within it teaches and touches the soul. Content is a word of analytical cold observation. A word used by countless ministers, and housewives of Washington Censorship.
It brings out the human in us, and appreciates and embraces the complexity of musics touch to the heart. Its more than the sum of its whole. Content is in a candy bar, this is nutrition for the soul. I love this film too.

As a 63 year old kid who loves this movie deep down... It was a nostalgic time wedged between being a hippie and being a disco dancer. My imaginary friends at 14 (1974) were Donny Osmond and Michael Jackson 😃. Patrick Fugit made this movie for me and deserves more credit for the job he did. I've followed his career to this day. Check out the Vampire movie he did. Low budget but pretty good. Wristcutters ☝. He's played next to impressive list of Mega stars for sure. Not sure what happened to Cameron Crowe. Lost the magic when he lost Nancy Wilson. I heard this story is on stage now. Love this movie

this movie is pretty much how it was back then. many people mock it, kate hudson aka penny lane stated the character was a wet weekend (because she was too young to understand the late 60s early 70s imo) but even though i was in london near carnaby street it was pretty much like that and music fans were just like people in the movie. an era that words cannot describe, you just had to experience the whole thing. magical and I'd go back this afternoon if i could. best year ? for me, 1973 !

"There's hope for you yet Russell".. When watching this scene and the ending it gives you the feel there is hope for all of them. Penny didn't want to hear from Russell and she felt that William deserved an apology even more than she did which arguably is true. William had his love of music given to him by his sisters records and lived out his dream of following a band he likes and writing about them in the hopes he could become a rock writer. The immaturity of the band nearly cost him this, especially in Russell who is the bands leader. But this scene is the atonement for the lie. Through his apology, maybe, at least you hope in the future of these characters that maybe he and William can have a friendship, and maybe even he can at least salvage a friendship with Penny. You definitely hope William and Penny would remain growing friends and perhaps more. But the most important thing about this scene is that you can always make the right choice. There is never a wrong time to do the right thing. Loved how they pulled it off. Definitely one of the most underrated movies.

"So Russell, what do you love about music? To begin with, everything."
Such a great line with so much meaning. Throughout the film the band talked about their fans but they used Penny and threw her away and ignored William except when he made them feel good about themselves.
By the end William had written them up as pompous asses and they realised they'd lost their way and had forgotten what they loved about music in the first place.
Seeing them go back to just loving what they were doing was such a nice ending.

I grew up in this time as a teenager. It was just normal at the time. Like today, it's just normal but teenagers will look back on this time today and everyone will say, oh wow, cool. I got high, drank cheep wine and drove around with my buddies in a beat up Volvo listening to Grateful Dead and others. Best times of my life before going off to college. We all turned out really well.

We just never realised at the time how good it was. Don't like the way current society is heading and worry for today's youth ... Yet I could be wrong ... Maybe, just maybe when the old guard falls they can take humanity back to a simpler more caring world ... Chi sa...

After seeing this movie a jillion times, I just noticed a continuity mistake.. At 2:14 in this scene, Russell turns the chair around and removes the clothes hanging over the back of it.. Next shot, no more than two seconds of movie time, they are magically back..

Talk about soundtracks...fuck...people today don't get it. I worked shit jobs for $3 an hour. That is what there was. And every week...drive the 40 minutes into Toledo OH...actually Oregon...to hit the mall. We had 2 record stores. Down the street...the head shop...that get this...sold used albums. I would spend $30 bucks easily. We would sit around...listen...get high...plan our weekends. Music...was everything.
