The political and health stuff is cool, too, but I LOVE history talks! 😍 I don't think I've heard so much about Henry V since high school. This is really fun to listen to.
About to listen to this but best compliment I can pay you, Chris, is that this diversion to a History episode is proof of how excellent this podcast is. I can't imagine another podcast that marries and covers so many varying political views, economic views, health topics, social topics, technology topics and now it seems, History! Your desire to just follow what you find interesting and speak with real curiosity with thought leaders in those topics, is what's made this so, so good. I never squirm at a topic or guest when I see it pop up on my feed - this podcast has taught me the value of appreciating differing opinions and perspectives, to help find my own.

Summer of Blood and the Knights Templar are good starting places with Jones. Then you can move chronologically through the Plantagenets, War of the Roses. He also has a doc series on UA-cam which is pretty good.

I'm voting for Alfred The Great as the best English King. He essentially united the various kingdoms into the beginnings of what we now call England. Absolute legend, and spawned some other legendary kings and leaders too.
The first king of england was athelstan (Alfred's grandson) and the last king of england was ironically a queen aka Anne between 1702 and 1707. Alfred resisted to the scandinavians more than he united the anglo saxons kingdoms (only Wessex and half of Mercia were still anglo saxons by the time he ruled). One French vote as well 🙋🏻♀️
It’s a long and messy history, takes a lifetime to learn
Our history is your history. America would be much stronger if you embraced your roots. It gives great strength to have a long history.
