    I'm 2 years into my diagnostic apprenticeship and definitely intermittent issues are the hardest. I hate touching stuff and the vehicle runs like new. I feel you in this video. 😒 Like my boss/sensei says though, you got to start with what you know is broken see what happens from there. One last note your son is doing a great job in the video editing. I swear the camera angles and edits looked like tv quality show edits. Especially like when you were talking to camera it looked very reality show-esque angles. Great job, keep up the good work! 😁👍

    I used to cut car radio OEM harnesses, and install car stereos with wire nuts, and spade connectors on our older family vehicles, as a high school kid!! I was obsessed with car audio back then. I would buy car audio equipment with my allowances; but I realize now, what an inexperienced Mr. Know-it-all hack that I was.

      perfect timing then! The only difference will be your 2016 model year, the module that controls the throttle body is built into the ECM, unlike this model (06) which is external to the ECM, but everything else is the same I believe.

    I replaced my throttle body sensor, temperature sensor, & purge sensors. I even replaced the connectors to the sensors, as well. Now, I still have these engine codes. The PO118 code went away, and came back. After replacing the sensors, do I need to start my van, and let the engine run, so the ECU can see that the sensors are good? I ask this, because I just turned the key, in the on position, without starting the engine.

    The intermittent pulsing on the O2 sensor heater is a current induced by the ECM to check the resistance of the heater. If the resistance is infinite, the ECM tries over and over again.

    • @ScannerDanner
      @ScannerDanner  4 роки тому

      If this was the case, with the test light acting as a good circuit, it should have stopped pulsing. I'm not sure that is what was going on here, but I could be wrong. Thanks!

    • @danielmusat597
      @danielmusat597 4 роки тому

      That is correct. On the other hand, the ECU expects a value in a certain range. The test lamp has a much higher resistance than a heating element of an O2 sensor. At least this is the way I would design such a circuit.

      Yeah its original from 2000 I was gonna throw a acdelco one on it and see what happens if not then I'll look at spots for wear in the wiring (probably where it goes over the valve cover) but hopefully just a new factory sensor will fix it right up it literally comes on, then 3-4 startups later gone.

    failing ECM is my guess before even watching past 2:10. lol
    EDIT: ahh separate module and module was spanked, they like to die internal to the ECM also. start, let idle, heat with heat gun(and stall/reduced power), let it cool/shock cool with water to restart.
    repeat process it will do it every time, many of the GM's did the same thing and I have a feeling there were many millions of TB's changed for no reason lol
