PARAGRAPH ONE OF CENSORED COMMENT> I started detecting in the 1970s with a huge heavy Whites detector. I`ve had two Bounty Hunter detectors and I always find great stuff with them. I was AMAZED when I saw a Bounty Hunter with target ID, something I didn`t know existed, in a Radio Shack in 1996. One day a couple of weeks after buying it I found three 14k gold rings at a swimming area on Toledo Bend Lake in just over 30 minutes. I found a gold earring that day too plus some old gold rim glasses and and a lot of coins and old watches.
Yes Bounty hunter has been around for sometime now. They are American made (El Paso, TX.) and have a 5 year warranty. Wow you did darn good with that ond Bounty Hunter congrats!

PARAGRAPH THREE OF CENSORED COMMENT> I think the Tracker 4 may be an even better machine, depth-wise, than the 202 and plan to get one to search an old party site nearby on a creek. I almost went ahead and got one the other day but needed a big battery for my solar setup in my camper trailer. Gonna get one of these eventually though.
The Tracker IV probably is a better over all detector. It's a tad deeper and the discrimination circuitry on the Tracker IV is top notch!.

Do the 9 volt batteries running parallel or in series
PARAGRAPH TWO OF CENSORED COMMENT> I wore that detector out but I found a lot of gold and silver and would often find 15 to 20 dollars in coins each time I searched the tourist areas and parks around the lake and nearby towns. I recently received a Pioneer 202 as a gift and found a very old worn silver half dollar in my sister`s yard.
The 202 is a good unit as well. A little different as it is more digital than the analog Tracker IV.
Does using rechargeable NiMH 9v batteries reduce performance?
Rechargeable batteries are a great money saving option. They will not harm nor decrease performance.

I'm a analog type of guy I'm 68 and looking for a hobby I'm confused about finding the right MD I like the tracker4 but I also like the gold digger

I'd go with the TK4 I think it is a better all-around detector and you can switch out coils as needed. The Gold Digger has a hardwired coil.
What is your personal favorite detector that you like to use over all others?
My personal favorite is the Tekentics T2
