As a Gen 1 owner I'm loving this.
Oh yea just got my gen 1 swap running so defiantly enjoyable
I definitely miss the morning peasant chat but having a video in the morning is just as good! Especially gen 1 content!
Morning 10x better especially on sundays!!
More ppl watch at night.
So gotta be on when the most ppl watch and I have a full day to enjoy instead of the morning being wasted.
@@YDBT4LIFE makes sense. I will be there tonight. I haven't missed a peasant chat since the very first one!!
Now THIS is content….. no where else do you see these test in real time. Thank you Alex you sir are the man.
Well people did this kind of stuff 10 years ago but now everyone acts like you gotta work on the latest model or it's irrelevant. Not so.
I got a 13 bone stock Mustang GT I bought new on January 12, 2013, currently has 24,834 miles on it. Lund tuned from AM handheld tuner in April 2015. Muffler delete by Pypes, stock cold air with K&N filter, staggered 18x9 with 255/40 Michelin 4s front, 18x10 285/40 Michelin 4s I run race tune w 93 premium pump gas. She's a Candy Red beast.
Basically similar to what i wanna do next. mines candy red too
What's your 0-60?
Seeing this datalog stuff and all the information is what really gets me sucked in. Loving this Gen 1 so far.
The technical videos are my favorite
I sold my 18 camaro for my 13gt about the time you sold the black car so I’m enjoying tf outta this having a gen 1
Love to see this stuff. Thank you!
Glad to have you back bro! Great video
Great content, Tio. Good to see ya back
Great content as always thanks for bringing us the knowledge!
Love these types of videos. Thanks Alex.
Loving this series Alex!
Thank you so much for doing these tests. I have learned so much from you.
Thank you for sharing Alex. ✌️
This is fantastic, informative and entertaining content as usual. Thanks Alex
Great Video glad you are back in a Gen 1
Great video! This is the kind of comparison we need on youtube!
Love videos like this! Can’t wait for more
This video is great. Looking forward to the rest of the build, and what difference the other mods will do.
I'm liking these videos! Very informative
The amount of gen 1 mustangs I seen running 13s I felt like a boss running 12.5 in my street tire stock 14 with lund tune. I know im not the fastest but being my first stick shift v8 car I was proud of it. Lund ftw! Love the content Alex
Great video! Love these comparisons. Super impressive gains bone stock!
Can’t wait till you get your hands on the LRX and review it. Love the gen 1 content!
Excellent content!!
Hell yeah! Love the S197 content 💪
Awesome content Alex 👍
Thanks!
Great video as always sir! I have never seen knock sensors that pissed off, now I see why Florida pump gas is really bad. Blows my mind that people see this and still tell themselves that 12 psi on Florida pump gas is a good idea lol
Simple mods on a bone stock Mustang....this is what made MM&FF so great in the late 80s and early 90s. Actual factual data, not "it feels like a BEAST..." forum fodder.
When I had a 14GT MT82, my best times stock were 12.92 @ 108 and 13.03@110, with like 1200 miles on it. Ford Racing Track Cal got it down to 12.76@112mph, Lund tune 12.62 @ 113mph in warmer temps. Brembo car with 3.73s, stock SQUID Pirellis...Michigan 93 is top notch fuel. Greg at the time remarked how there was absolutely no knock present on any log, even adding additional timing.
It’s all in the details. Thank you for the education. This is what makes this hobby fun to me. 3/10’s with tire spin. Impressive…
Awesome vid❤
I believe this approach is very helpful to people who are trying to understand the effects of various changes to a stock vehicle. I am particularly interested because I have a 2014 Mustang GT, Brembo package, and it's even the same color. Your advice regarding the street/strip tire sizes makes perfect sense. While there may be reasons that you would chose a different combination, the stock 19"x9" wheels and 255/40R19 tires (746 revs/mile) match up great with 18"x10" wheels and 285/40R18 tires (748 revs/mile). I chose Forgestar D5 wheels and M/T ET Street S/S tires and run the same tune settings for both the street and the track, even though I am changing them over at the track. My best ET, completely stock at Bradenton, was 13.11@107MPH in June of 2023. In November, running the drag radials (and lower DA) brought that ET down to 12.83@108MPH. Obviously, your car with the Lund tune and drag radials would run even better than that on a prepped surface.
Great video
I just recently purchased a 2019 Bullitt that is absolutely bone stock. My ngauge showed up to -6 knock (adding timing) on Shell 93 octane fuel at WOT. On the unknown fuel at purchase, 1/4th tank, it was adding up to +2 to +3 knock (pulling timing) at WOT.
Got my protein shake ready for this👌🏿
Great video hey bro can you talk more about the dragy device? Thanks
Gen 1 content!
👌👌 awesome stuff.
Love the content
This is great info
Good advice.
Fuel sensor will be a game changer, I will be dropping Boostane and the car will adjust, the heck the car will adjust to racing fuel too, game changer, now I have to wait for getting a tune until that system comes out
Nice gains
yea buddy!!
Thanks for the video Alex!! Literally all I want for my ‘13 6r80. Just wake it up a bit.
Whats done to yours?
@@sway329 in terms of the motor, CAI and flowmaster catback lol that’s it. I have a shitload of suspension mods mostly, paired with some 275s and 305s in the rear. I drive like a grandpa most of the time so I just want a ride with a good ass suspension in my honest preference. But I also want to wake up the coyote a bit so I’ve been looking for a tune for a while. Lund is def gonna be my go-to.
@@AnkerBanker123long tubes usually unlock 20-40hp
@@AnkerBanker123I’m debating going with pbd
So you want your car to blow up? 😂 Bad rep and knownfor that and I never see them competing or winning any events or have a 6.6 sec coyote idk if you need me to keep going LUND ftw!! @5.Yote_
6:41 - this is why I began renaming all my datalog files hahah. Especially when comparing different tweaks / situations
Good info al .
Fuel never seem's to be consistent in most states in the US and province's here in Canada
Really shows how significant fords improvement was over the last decade!
Great Video! Can you add an Air intake and do the same with the Lund tune? Would love to see if it even helps with the Gen1
Excellent content, even though I don’t have a 6r80 it was very well done. Wonder if a video could be done the same way with the 10r80.
Maybe a follower could provide a bone stock car for Alejandro?
Good street DR is a Nitto NT555R ll. Will even be decent in the rain there in Florida.
Orale holms I’m here for the algorithm keep at it
1st thing i did with my bone stock previous 2013 Coyote was LU47 injectors, Kooks LT headers, E85 tune, and pretty much full suspension.
Switched my tire from a 295/65/15 to a 275/60/15. Guess it's time to get the tune tweaked. Next purchase will be an LRX! Also looking forward to see how Alex sets up his catch can/breathers.
I didn’t know about the tire size effecting the tune. My lund tune is for 275/35/18 but I’ve switched between 255’s and now on a 245/50/18 in the rear.
Informative and to the point. Maybe a 555r2 tire helps out while the car is NA. That’s what I run on the Boss and it’s decent for street use.
How have you liked the rrr2 in the rain ?
I'm super paranoid
Alex, before you make physical changes, a run with 260gt in the tank would be good to see times on stock v tuned plus showing changes knock data.
Still rocking my 2014 GT that I purchased in 2016. It was lund tuned 1 month after I bought it. It's still lund tuned lol. Oh and you dropped 3 tenths even while spinning on that 1-2 shift.
I was 9 when the Gen 1 came out. These cars will be the fox body of my era! These cars are relatively light weight and basic bolt ons will surprise you. Get you a set of good rods and make up to 800 whp on E85. Badass!
You'll need pistons also as the pistons and rods are both hypereutectic. But yes, change the pistons, rods, and oil pump gears, and you'll be good for 800-1000+ wheel with good fuel! 👍😁
Alex thanks for the content, instead of a Nitto G2 look at the newer NT555RII tire...needs a little more heat than a MT SS but on my Lund tuned Boosted Gen/A10 their 0-60 was slightly better on virgin 2 lane, same exact size apples to apples yet they were damn good in rain...smoother and balanced easier ...even cheaper....great all around daily tire that last twice as long as the literal 30prs of SS radials I've purchased over the years...
SS like a clean and go, that newer Nitto likes a bit more heat...
Get Continental extreme contact sport, or Michelin pilot sport 4s. Best street tires out there. Super good in rain too
@elboss3023; I’ve run a set of both and they are good. I’m rolling Cooper Zeon RS-3’s and they work as well as continental and Michelin pilot sport 4. My setup is staggered on my 13 GT manual.
Michelin Ps4s 285/35/19s in the back should do great for a street car, super grippy
As always Alex, AWESOME video! As I previously commented before in other video posts you have done, I have a 2013 Mustang GT with the Track Pack bone stock engine. Unfortunately, I live in the Communist State of California and ANY modifications on the engine is a no no. But your 2013 Mustang GT videos make me live vicariously through you! KEEP ON ROCKING!
Move to a free state and enjoy being less of a subject and more of a citizen.
This makes me feel pretty damn good about my 14 manual and my driving ability...all I have done is a boss manifold (stock cold air), "free flowing" exhaust with stock headers, and a not lund tune(I know, I know, I got it done before I knew shit about the coyote tuning game) and I'm running a 12.59 @ 113 on the dragy on shit roads with shit tires.....with the stock clutch! Unfortunately on my last hit I finished off the 3rd gear syncro so now it grinds the 2/3 every time. Oh well, guess it's time for a rebuild and a clutch!
I've been playing around with my 3V mustang while I'm putting together what I need to Coyote swap it, and I've ran it 100% stock, with an 87 tune, and with a 93 tune. 87 tune was a slight improvement over stock, 93 was a much bigger improvement. It does chirp the tires now, and it didn't before. It was just interesting to experience the same things that Alex just experienced. A tune only DOES make a difference, even on a slow ass 3V.
I think the reason why people always do a tune + CAI is because the "bang for the buck" feel because you hit two birds with one stone, but unfortunately most CAIs really are a waste of money and the gains of tune only vs tune +CAI are really just a wash.
I run a 285/40/19 street tire which is 28".. same as my slicks.
What about next step of the new tires, completely burn the mixed gas and get a log with zero tire spin and as little knock as possible. The new tire might skew your current data and reducing knock might also skew the current stock tune data.
And you are THE ONLY person who ive seen do any kind of comparison between bone stock with factory tune and bone stock with a tune. I had this trouble when shopping for a cold air for the boss manifold swap(I couldn't find the stock boss intake tube anywhere at the time) I wanted to get the most out of the setup and nobody had an apples to apples comparison to prove it was the intake that made the gain and not the tune itself.
I can do that next
Stock tune except pmas MAF data then a performance tune with pmas MAF data
That would be greatly appreciated...might make me go ahead and buy a pmas!
This really shows the difference between Gen1 vs Gen 3 stock. About a 1/2 sec quicker for the Gen 3 cars.
What about on a Manuel do I need a retune for drag wheel set up
Looking at dropping a gen 1 with a 6r80 into a Fairmont. Need to get an intake and cams for it since it doesnt have either. What would be best for a gen 1 set up?
Very interesting comparison. I wonder what would the lund tune do to a 14' gt premium which run 4.6s 0-60 with already stock tuning?
245/45/19 front
275/40/19 rear
3.15 gears
K&N blackhawk cai (does nothing other than sucking a hot air from engine compartment)
2009 gt500 axlebacks
I have a fbo gen 2 in my 2012 gt. And have vmp 93 ans E85 tunes BUT the e85 tunes dont like restarts 😅
I can’t wait for Lund to bring in fuel sensors
Am I correct in assuming that a identical stick car would not see the performance improvements of an automatic?
I got a bama 93 tune back when I had a 2012 6r80 before I got mods 😂
R888 instead of DR’s when you go sticky tire for street use. Much better wet performance and almost as sticky for the strip.
My first step would be a cold air intake!
My draggy hasn’t charged from the day I bought it. I gotta leave it plugged in to use it
Hopefully you see this but is it possible to swap a coyote in a gen 2 / 1999 ford explorer
Do the same for gen2 bone stock, manual.
I’m curious to see what the cheapest tune on a bone stock manual looks like.
Automatic transmissions shifting is dramatically improved with a tune, I’m curious of motor performance only, manual if you can please
93 octane vs e85, impressions and a dyno please
Also SIA is awesome, very emotionally intelligent music
Hi Alex, what happens with tuned gen 3 Mustangs (whippled 10R80) in terms of roll racing 35-130mph on a tyre diameter not representing the street tyre tune diameter? Is it bad for the car in any way?
Back to school. Thank you sir 🤙 🇺🇸
A Lund tune only on a 6r80 gen 1 makes a BIG difference. I just had a 91 tune with cat deletes. Before the tune I tested with buddies g37 if beat him about 2 cars. After the tune alone was about a bus. No comparison
💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽
Get the Tunemaker file in there 😂
My boosted 6r80 doesn’t shift out of third until 128mph. 315 gears.
Would love to see a stock to lund tune only 60-130! If you can get a safe run in Mexico would love to see one ;) do you think tune only can get into the 11s 60-130?
Not sure. And I'd rather test 1/4 mile than 60-130
Is it worth getting a tune on a manual 3rd gen with a cold air and x-pipe?
How much would it cost for a tune like this if you have a tuner ?
I’ve got a 2012 auto with axle backs.
Just want to give it alittle more pep.
Does tyre size matter on a tune on a manual ?
lol you need to add Sia to your soundboard
255/40R19 is the stock size for Brembo equipped cars.
2.2k views in 3 hours. 🎉🎉
get Lund tune asap on G1

@Alejandro Flores is the tire speed calculation just as important for the manual on the gen 1's as well?
The only reason you need to match tire revs per mile for a manual car is for the speedometer. The computer doesn't tell the trans to shift in a manual car. You're hand and foot do! Lol
@Mateo5.0 this. Speedo is the only thing effected.
Algorithm bump
Hey Alex, how high can the gen 1 coyote rev reliably without issues?
I seen guys revving cj ones to 7800-8000 for years without issue back in the day.
