It fascinates me how someone can be obsessed with true crime and still be so forensically unaware!!
It baffles me....
Real life is messy. Even forensic analysts and detectives get caught.
I know!
Having an interest in something doesn't necessarily mean being good at it.
Because someone like this isn't obsessed with true crime the same way normal people are. They obsess about the wrong aspects of the crime for the wrong reasons. They're obsessed with the potential experience. They're obsessed with the perpetrators not the victims, with the act not the consequences, with what it would feel like and what emotions they might go through, with how they'll process their thoughts before, during, and after. They put themselves in the aggressor's shoes, not the victim's or family's or detective's....
"Normal" people obsessed with true crime are obsessed because we can't comprehend how people are capable of such things. We obsess because we want to learn things like recognizable patterns of behavior or societal impacts on the internal psyche. We want to try to understand how and why such evil and pain can exist. We want to grieve for victims with their loved ones... I think when you obsess with true crime for "normal" reasons, it's easier to pay attention to the logical and objective details of cases
She only said sorry because she got caught but the way she walked with the suitcase so happiliy was damn chilling.
@user-dw4cs4xv8y which is insulting to the people who are harmed by them.
Televised public apologies are very common in Korea. I lived there for over 11 years and you saw this frequently on Korean TV.
why does she walk like she got diabetes tho??? like her walk was so unusually wide and erratic
@@glamglam8347 yeah I thought this as well. Looked less like "happy" walking and more like she's got some sort of condition. I actually thought it looked a bit like she had a limp or hip injury.
@@glamglam8347That's how most asian girls walk.
The way she’s bouncing around with the suitcase is just disgusting. She absolutely terrifying.

I'm on the spectrum and extremely shy to the point of being called a quiet loner. I've been called a potential school shooter/ serial killer/ etc because of people like her. It's sad that cases like this happen and will perpetually feed into this bad reputation that harmless introverts like me are labeled with 😔
Those people don't seem to understand the huge variety of human psychologies and assume that everyone thinks like they do. Ignore them, you know better.
Yep, its crazy how it mirrors me when he describes her personality. Then the other half of the video plays.
Same. People say I'm very secretive even after working with them for 2 years when in fact, I just prefer solo activities like gym, gaming and reading.
So everytime those idiots make a foolish assumption of me being a creep/ future shooter, I simply admit it with a smile on my face lmao.
Who gives a flying fk what they think? They know jack sht about us introverts.
My partner got bullied a lot and called a "trenchcoat psycho" in school because he was always quiet and, well, wore a trenchcoat around. But the reality is hes a very sweet introvert whos on the low end of the spectrum, and has body dysmorphia. I wish people would just chill out on making assumptions.
As long as you are good person who doesnt harm anyone fuck what people think you are.
When I was younger, someone I went to school with murdered an old lady, he also gave the same motive 'wanted to know what it felt like to kill someone' it's chilling to know that there are people out there prepared to end lives for literally no reason whatsoever.
I mean, I've always wondered what it would be like. But I never would. Murder is the worst crime out there, closely followed by abusing animals/kids

this kind of thing should not be possible in todays ERA in which can find so many things to read and watch on the internet.
maybe she is the kind of person who even if she has all the freedom to do anything, they just don't know what they want or what to pursue until someone guide them. you know... the kind of people who are destined to be a worker for the rest of their life.

I live in Busan South Korea and to say we were all shocked. Every news station and every UA-cam suggestion was a news report about this for a more than a week. Being an English tutor made it more nerve wracking. I appreciate the taxi driver so much in this situation and I hope he is rewarded in some way.
Living there, what do you think will be the sentence?... Life or Death?... I live in Singapore and here it could be Death. Thanks
@@cats.addict6457 @Cats.Addict A native Korean here, and it is pretty much a public consensus that this girl is to be sentenced with life imprisonment or death penalty. Yet, so far judges and LEOs here have long been known for not carrying out already-sentenced death penalty on criminals (yes judges do sentence capital punishment but haven't officially executed any for more than a decade due to severe protests regarding protecting criminals' human rights and blah blah), so I think she too will be caged up in women's jail and spend the rest of her life in prison.
@@treatingmyselfright Thank you very much for your clear feedback... take care
The taxi driver should be rewarded AND compensated as this traumatic event meant he left the job. And it happened when he was at work. He's at risk of psychological injury from this.
The taxi driver was unable to work due to trauma. I hope he is doing fine and realizes what a true hero he is

I’m glad you said that being interested in this genre doesn’t make us weird. These channels have definitely made me more aware of my surroundings and people I have limited contact with. This case is so bizarre and truly sad. There was no motive. Just a lonely girl who wanted to hurt someone to see how it felt. You can tell by pictures of her, she feels nothing. Like she’s totally checked out and unalive inside. Prayers to the victims family.
Lonely by choice, I like watching for the psychological aspect.
As someone who watches true crime... This does make us morbid and weird... Not to mention that there is a subsection of true crime fans who are legitimate pick me's obsessed with serial killers. The same rules of people who write love letters to serial killers.
That said, most of us are sane and decent human beings. But we're still weirdly morbid. I would never completely trust anyone who loves true crime. There's too many variables to unpack there. Don't get it twisted lol.
..."just a lonely girl who wanted to hurt someone to see how it felt....." This is why I don't believe her "apology" AT ALL. She KNEW what she was doing and planned the whole thing out. She's not sorry one bit. It's a good thing they caught her, because she would have killed again, 100%. She reminds me Deniro in the film "Taxi Driver", a loner and intelligent nut who cleverly planed out his crimes. It's true, looks can be deceiving.
Pretty much
I watch Investigation discovery and just see how deranged people can be, hell me my mother and uncles would watch ID sometimes at night and day!
True crime watchers arent weird but i agree too; i have to be more of my surroundings

Living there, what do you think will be the sentence?... Life or Death?... I live in Singapore and here it could be Death. Thanks
Guess it’s not as safe as people thought. Always watch your surroundings and be aware no matter if you are in safe country or not.

@@answerman9933 Likewise and it happens on so many cases so it will be interesting to find out how these broke psychopaths get the funds to commit their horrendous dispicable acts.
An obsession with true crime doesn't turn you into a psychopath. BUT if you are a psychopath, you might find an inspiration to murder in anything: from video games to your own imagination.
Which is something a lot of people dont seem to understand
True. I think most people are just curious and fascinated by abnormal human behavior (i.e. murder) and what drives people to do such things. It doesn't make you a bad person, but a curious and hopefully more empathetic one.
6/16/23...I guess this poor girl 👧 😕 was just lonely + too "curious" for her own good....
SAD but the world 🌎 seems to be getting more crazy 🤪 every day.
THANKS for such a great 👍 story as well as so recent.
Exactly, you can be the sweetest most great human being and still be interested in true crime because it’s interesting to learn about stuff and knowing what happens in the world. But if you’re a psycho, or sociopath that’s not high functioning in the society, you might be inspired and triggered to commit crimes like that
Agreed. I love true crime but not a pshyco lol You would have to already have the means and traits of one to pull this off, or even want to. Normal people don't just go murdering people in that case.
That jaunty little walk is more chilling than any crazy-eyed stare I've ever seen.
Full on psychopath
i was talking about her walk in another persons comments. like why tf does ole girl walk like she got diabetes
consider, also, the fact that this woman is _not even five feet tall._ as far as that taxi driver knew, he probably thought she WAS a child, and i can't imagine how shocked he must have been to learn that his horrible encounter had been with an adult in disguise all along. imagine watching what appears to be a kid skip off into the woods with a suitcase leaking blood.

Thanks for covering this case. This is still being investigated in Korea and so I'm sure we'll learn more but I've heard that the poor taxi driver noticed the blood on his hand after getting into his car to leave. That detail haunts me. I hope he gets the help he needs with PTSD and all.
Yes, when Adrian said that the taxi driver quit his job, I immediately felt sorry for how this horror must have affected him. PTSD for certain, but that IS treatable and I can say that from personal experience.
@@gtw4546 I hope you are doing better
@@hanuels3811 Much better now, thank you!
PTSD for getting blood on his hand? Lol. People these days over use that word.
@@Cuyt24first of all, ptsd is a trauma response that can happen to anyone for ANY reason. everyone’s brains work differently and some people are more or less likely to develop ptsd, depending on their genetics, upbringing and other factors. there are people who went through wars and horrific abuse and still have never developed ptsd, while there are many people who experienced things that most people wouldn’t consider particularly traumatizing and yet they have ptsd from those events. the “severity” of the trauma doesn’t make anyone’s ptsd more or less valid. it’s best to not assume and to have empathy for everyone. second of all, the trauma of that taxi driver seems quite severe. it’s not just about the blood on his hands. it’s about witnessing someone’s murder. it’s about the intense feeling of being unsafe that obviously lead to him quiting his job. i doubt that anyone would quit their job like this if it wasn’t for an obvious reason like a trauma. again, it’s best to not judge.

@@GoReachPastElevation and some people are truffle pigs for insults. You being a hypersensitive crybaby isn't my problem.
Being alone is not the same as being lonely. Some are loners because they don't want any social interaction.
Some of people are extremely sensitive to social interactions. It can drain you of energy and is overstimulating to the nervous system. Some people recharge in the company of others. Some people need quiet time alone to recharge. Definitely... being alone doesn't necessarily mean lonely.
I'm pretty much alone because I think my physical disability scares people away. Because of that I don't try to be sociable anymore leading to loneliness.
Some are alone because other people spot them as obnoxious or psychopaths.

I became my mom’s full-time caregiver six years ago. When she was first hospitalized, I happened to stumble upon Forensic Files on satellite radio. I would listen to it on the drive to and from the hospital. It was interesting on an academic level and took my mind off of the tough situation I was in. It also helped me to remember that I am fortunate because I am safe and loved. As we learn on these shows, not everyone can say that.
As much as I like true crime shows now, I would never hurt anyone. I spend my life doing just the opposite: helping someone who is ill. I don’t think watching true crime can change a persons moral compass. This girl had a broken one. I don’t know if there’s even a way to fix that.
Props to the taxi driver for reporting this sick individual to authorities immeaditly! Just goes to show really, if you suspect anything dogy about anything, its always a safe bet to phone and report. It might be nothing, or it could be something as drastic this situation the taxi driver found himself in. He not only helped police, he also helped the poor victims family in getting closure.

Yeah, I'm a true crime fan and I'm the type of person who will bring something back to the store if I accidentally walked out without paying for it! I love your videos because they focus so much on the victims in a way that most other true crime shows do not. So many people focus on the killers and give them the spotlight which has encouraged more people to seek that kind of sick fame.
The fact that such people exist in this world gives me chills

That's not the case at all. Ted Bundy was the opposite! He was very sociable, rather popular in school and afterwards, did well in sports and had an active social life, including dating women.
What was the "turn"? I think it was when his girlfriend (maybe fiancee?) broke up with him. That rejection seemed to set the wheels in motion.
Crime writer Ann Rule actually met Bundy, knew him personally, before shr became a crime writer (she was in the police back then) and well before Bundy's crimes came to light. Rule found Bundy to be pleasant, likable, considerate - he might have even saved a few lives, as he and Rule were volunteers at a suicide hotline center. Bundy could appear charming, thoughtful and caring, likable and easy to talk to etc.
@@SY-ok2dq
Ted Bundy told a lot of legends about himself that lots of people seemed to believe in turn. I suppose because of his charisma.
He has said himself that he possessed a mask, a veneer that he could adopt at will to blend in and get people to like him. I’m no psychologist but I know people are capable of going “chameleon” with their personalities and can truly transform then into the opposite of their true selves. This, according to himself, is what Bundy was capable of.
I also have experience with this because, I chameleon myself too. However, I have no ulterior motive in doing so. Just getting through life and being left alone.
You like the French?🤢🤢 maybe no serial killer, but clinically insane
Most frightening part of this is how there was nothing that the victim could have done better to protect herself. It is reasonable to expect a young girl in uniform is coming for the lessons you have arranged. So you really can not tell you are dealing with, ever!

I feel so bad for grandfather who blames himself for this individuals psychopathy. It is well agreed upon in psychiatry that the basis of personality occurs before age seven. Even the first two years of lack of hugging and affection as an infant and toddler can be to blame for sociopathic tendencies (lack of empathy). Plus she’s a woman, and statistically across the globe, women get shorter prison sentences regardless of the crime
She would probably get 5 years in the uk

I live in south korea, ive heard of cases of mothers who killed their kids getting 2 years coz they "had a history of depression" but people who got caught with drugs getting way longer. The sentencing here is a mess and they are way too lenient 😟
That is such a wild case. I like how the law protects the identities of victims and also could potentially provide ability for offenders to be rehabilitated and have a life after jail time. But also that they will disclose identities of those who they feel could be a danger to public. I was thinking as the video progressed how if Jeong hadn't been caught this could have continued into a serial.

Parents owe a huge responsibility to the children they bring into the world. They need to much better with the child’s upbringing because it’s obvious it stems deeply from her childhood. We all need to do better as a society to reduce the rate of criminals being formed. The church needs to do better as well, preaching about the love of Jesus that has the changing power to bring love into the world and reduce crime overall. This is just both unfortunate and sad. There is nothing wrong with being "very lonely". It doesn't lead someone to murder others. Our society has emphasis on having at least moderate amounts of friends in order to be accepted into society. Some people just don't like company of other people. I mean, being a loner wasn't a motivation to kill someone, right?

Another intriguing episode of coffeehouse crime! Now I am a true crime junkie as well, and I would never condone killing someone. In this case, it amazes me when someone who is so obsessed with murder could be so stupid about leaving evidence. I mean, come on! Taking a taxi?? 😂🥴🙄
Hii, can you please talk about the thabo bester and dr nandipha case from South Africa?? Love your videos❤
Thanks for doing this case. You continue to research your cases so thoroughly!
I always love when your videos pop up on my messages! Nice driving listen!
Hope she never gets let out. I consider myself a loner, i just prefer my own company. I have very little friends except for my close family who are everything to me and I enjoy watching true crime (of course) but to plan a crime and commit it you have to be very evil. I think it makes it worse if media label her as a weirdo loner. There are a lot of loners and most are happy well adjusted people. I feel terrible for the victim and her family.
True. I’m just like u but I’m happy with my little circle.
There's a big difference between an introvert who enjoys their own company and doesn't like to attend parties, and a quiet girl who doesn't respond appropriately to human communication (many are given the label of autism). You underestimate people's ability to differentiate between the two types of people. Introverts are quite common in our society. But people like Jeong are seen as "creepy" and people tend to stay away from them, as they do not give good vibes. You know the type. The ones who do not seem to show emotion, and have been always like that from young or from birth. Even though they must be lonely, they make no effort to socialize or make friends. Stop behaving as if introverts are being victimized by society or by the public when these crimes happen and the media reports on the perpetrators. There are many types of serial killers/psychopaths - extroverts and introverts. Your claims of being victimized by the media because you're an introvert is as ridiculous as an extravert claiming the same when the story of an extravert psychopathic serial killer comes out.
I myself am an introvert, although for some reason, people have told me I am an extravert after they meet me, and am surprised to see I call myself an introvert. I guess I prefer my own company most of the time and have been very shy as a child, but when out at parties, I try and make an effort to socialize (although I get bored quickly doing so).
I'm the same age and born the same year as her.. makes you really wonder that there's people out there who is crazy enough to take a life..
Poor grandfather tho, I have sympathy for him..
I was raised by my grandparents and of course not all the time they could be present especially on an age where you're suppose to start standing on your own feet.
I've had compassion burnout which led me to depression and isolation. Only difference is, I had good support and that one loving friend to keep me out from those sad times.
I'm still a true crime fanatic but I don't have such obsessive thoughts, to think about such things is truly horrendous. Crazy world we live in these days :(
What an awesome episode! Thank you, Adrien for sharing your wonderful perspective and giving respect for the victims.
Love your narration and channel! Always look forward to seeing your videos!
Your videos always arrive when I need them most. As a master's student, I have to force myself to relax. Believe it or not, these crime vids do just that. Great timing Adrian!
Yet another well made and truly professional video.
Your work is excellent Adrian, the compassion and respect you convey is truly commendable.
Congratulations on the channel growth and the reward for your diligent work.
Isn't it strange how that Psychopath test seems to fit so many politicians.....
I love your content and your perfect delivery 🙏the legend of you needs to be put out there ❤️
thank you andrian for giving us a interesting videos god bless you ❤️
I wish she would’ve use that curiosity to maybe be part of the police force as a detective or something instead of going down on this really dark path it’s awful
As someone who has family in Korea and is currently on vacation there.. I saw this girl on the news like all the time. I had no idea who she was until now, so thank you for this information.
this channel and that chapter are by far my fave british true crime channels!!!
Thank you for these informative and lesson learning episodes! Been watching you for a while now! Congrats and two thumbs up!🎉
It's a very sad case
I thank you Adrian for all your hard work,I have learnt so much about my safety and about reading people with bad vibes...
My condolences to the family of the victim, may she rest in peace.
Hi Adrian thanks again and wow this one was sad...to murder a stranger because she wanted to know what it's like to kill...speechless...I feel so sad for her grandparent's who raised her and felt like they needed to apologise...her parent's however should have been in charge (though sometimes not having your parent's in your life can be a bonus)...I sure hope she gets life for what she did...she was almost skipping along the sidewalk with that suitcase (that made me feel sick she has no remorse)...and that taxi driver was very brave I'm glad he phoned the police straight away...sleep time but I needed to watch this before shutting my phone off 💜🇦🇺
Thank you, Adrian; just what I need with my morning coffee.
The lack of insight and lack of respect for life is very scary.
Hey coffeehouse crime you make some pretty great videos about this kind of stuff, and I end up learning about crimes I've never even heard of until I stumbled onto your channel a few months ago. I also enjoy listening to your videos in the background while I'm gaming out on the Xbox, I have my timmies coffee and keep up the great work on your videos looking forward to the next one 😊
R.I.P Gian, my heart goes out to your family.
I think she needs to be kept away from people, i really feel for her grandfather.
I'm 61, true crime is not a new thing. Cop shows etc have always been popular. My mum brought a magazine back in the day, i think it was called "True detective" she hid it in hid room, my sisters and I would sneak in and read them just the same, they were more graphic and real than anything today. I do like you channel, i started watching you when you covered a neighbours case from Perth Australia and have been hooked ever since. Cheers
True Detective brings back memories 😂
Your channel and that chapter are my all time favourites!! You're both so informative and compassionate 😊😊
As always, top notch presentation. Glad to see how your channel has grown.
Another solid video and presented smooth without bias.
Thanks for the always entertaining channel.
I watched ever since the very beginning when your channel just started even showing my friend the Eliot Roger video which is our favorite, I am proud of you for coming so far and happy to be a OG FAN❤
Hello from Namibia
I love all the info you give at the beginning of your video's (as well as the coffee info). It's not the usual crime in places like South Korea. Like Japan, some of these Asian countries rarely have such crimes, it tends to be a western type crime. I know of many in Australia. It was in the media not long ago. A guy killed a Mother and little daughter and put them in suit cases and dumped them on different highways. By the time they were found decomposition had made identification hard but within a few years of trying to get the public's help, they solved the case! I don't know if you have done this case but, if not, it's a good one to google. Namaste, Michelle
Appreciate the Glasgow shoutout Adrian ❤🏴 amazing video as always man
Always love ur side notes qnd final thoughts be good and stay safe❤
