DSLR is definitely crisper, but the 360 oneX is by far more portable. Guess it depends on the type of photos you are going for. Both have pros and cons. Crisper photo, but that setup is far more extravagant. Or sacrifice a bit of quality for versatility? Overall a great comparison. For my videos and photos, compact versatility wins out.

I just got the Insta360 1-inch 360 and i wonder if now, almost 4 years later, the quality wouldn't actually be much closer to the mirrorless camera which requires a lot of time and patience to shoot with!?

Still not at the same level even with careful post-processing work; the dynamic range of a DSLR/mirrorless sensor will always be better than the smaller ones used in 360 cameras, as are proper 35mm-style fisheye lenses. But things ARE getting much better in the one-shot 360 camera world.

Ben there is a big difference between the quality of the Theta V and the DSLR. If the images are to be viewed on mobile devices then it doesn't matter which camera you use. The Theta allows for fast photos and processing on a mobile device. The DSLR images need to be processed on a desktop or laptop computer but the quality will be superior. Its all down to what you want to do with the images.
Your last shoot not bad but that sky - all white and overburn? I dont know if your new toy have ability to shoot in raw but if yest then try this - iso50, EV-3, edit in photoshop for lightness and darkness correction and then stitch it. I guarantee you - much better result.

I traveled in 2015, I had at the moment theta m15 and I got the selfie stick from the top of the eiffel tower, it seems that now we can't enter with the selfie stick any more? I wanted to take that selfie again with theta V.
Ben could you please clarify the question of compatibility One X with iPad Air? App Store marks it as compatible, but on insta360 web-site low end is iPad(2018)
I disagree- when you see the resolution of Peter’s shots in full quality (check them out at the link in the description) the resolution is extremely impressive and they look very professional. For social media though of course it doesn’t matter as much 👍

Hey Ben! For a first ever 360 cam, would the one x be good? i have a note 9 and 256gb sd card and for summer and experiances i think 360 would be awesome but im not sure of the overcapture picture quality and dunno about color correction, love your vids, cheersss
@@maximusjunior13 technically it should work if they have the same speed class but hard to say for sure, maybe Ben will test this :) for first 360 camera insta360 X will be more preferred even if comparing to gopro fusion (I have one). Insta360 shots are much detailed but for getting attractive vivid colors you must do some post processing, insta360 also has HDR mode (must have for 360 cams) and standard tripod mount so you can use any tripod. So if you are interested if gopro worths buying right now the answer is no, it doesn't, so just go for insta360 X for sure 👍
What happens with Manfrotto monopod? I had bought one monopod Bushman but the monopod became tilted.. I had to ask the refund. Now I just have bought the monopod Manfrotto that you used to use.
Relatively new subscriber and have a fairly technical question. SD cards are limited or hardware such as the rylo limiting the total record time to around 4:36 segments. Which I believe means the mobile workflow for anything beyond that time frame means you have to take it to desktop to stitch the segments together. Is there another option or is that the way it is? Or does the insta360 One X handle that differently natively?

The idea seems so silly to me, as you would think of comparing a 360 camera that brings a small sensor against a DSLR camera that its sensor is much larger.
Both have their pros and cons. If you want a fast result for social media, then a point-and-shoot 360 camera is your best option. If you want the best dynamic range, much higher resolution, and more control over the end result, then a DLSR is the only way to go. 🤩/Peter
I quit using my DSLR for ANY sort of photography not only because of the bulk but also because of the sickening workflow Not to mention it's a pain passing through security.... LoL

Hi Kris, yes unfortunately that’s a flaw of the Rylo.. you’ll probably have to go to desktop to edit them together
