    This video was exceedingly helpful. I'm using a Canon 5D Mk IV, 12mm fisheye, and a pano head for my higher end jobs, but most realtors don't want to pay for that level of quality, so most of my tours are done with an Insta360 OneX. Your tips on how to squeeze the maximum quality out of this consumer level 360 cam were amazingly helpful. Thank you for posting. [I smashed the subscribe button.]

      Well, I’m afraid it would be a little bit lower resolution than needed. (But it depends on your projects)

      Yes, this time I tried to focus on shooting, and playing around with 360 photos to bring them closer to a DSLR look. In post-production you need Photoshop in both cases, so it's also an additional fee.
      For stitching I still use Kolor Autopano, which is hard to be priced now, as you cannot buy it. But I will make a tutorial about stitching, because it's an interesting method for those who have never seen such things. 😀

      HDR option seems to be interesting, and I will check it out. I use and really love it in 360 videos. After figuring out all the downsides and issues, recently I shoot most of the daylight outdoor scenes with HDR video setting with One X.

    thanks a lot! This is super helpful and informative, I have been researching about this for a while and your videos are really comprehensive! I just bought a INSTA 360 one R a month ago, looking to kickstart my career for this, but apparently, the resolution is not high enough, I actually have a Fujifilm XE3 mirrorless camera, would that work as well? Thanks

    • @GabaVR
      @GabaVR  4 роки тому +2

      Actually, mirrorless cameras are even better for virtual tour photography than the traditional DSLR-s. First, shooting virtual tours, you will take a lot of exposures with your camera. On the other hand, in certain cases cropped sensor cameras are better for this purpose.
      Make sure you pick up a proper lens, and I think it will be fine.
      If I'm right, this Fujifilm camera has an APS-C sensor, so an 8mm lens will be good for you.

    • @GabaVR

      I stitch the 360 photos with the stitching software of the camera. Depending in the camera, it can be the Insta360 Studio, Theta or MiSphere app. And then I blend the equirectangular images together if needed (you know, when I shoot with a 90 degrees turn to avoid the soft area around the stitch lines)

    Depends on the job, the clients expectations and end user. If the client just wants to photograph say property then especially here in the UK, most agents photograph with a phone or cheap compact camera, just take a look at any estate agents website, badly framed, poor quality etc. Then a half decent 360 consumer camera will suffice, but if say a corporation, museum or retail shop etc., then DSLR all the way, the end user expects to see high quality images as the images will be looked at and scrutinized for some time.

    • @GabaVR
      @GabaVR  3 роки тому

      I agree. That's why I tried to highlight some techniques to improve the quality of consumer cameras, because with a little extra work we 🙂can improve the image quality even if we shoot with a consumer 360 camera. You know, just to maximize the potential of our tools.

    By the way nice video but the only problem is matterport don't support DSLR or mirrorless camera at this moment so they only support 360 cameras. And the other truth is a lot of companies they want something with just fine don't need to be the most sharp image.

    You rock!!! I love your channel. You make beautiful tutorials. I have an Insta One X and an Insta Pro 1 and my nightmare is always the noise. I tried to shoot in M mode, in raw, in Jpeg.... but the noise is always there. Is there a trick to remove it? Or need I to move to dslr world?

    • @GabaVR
      @GabaVR  4 роки тому +1

      Thank you! 😊
      Yes, I also struggle with noise in these images. The only solution I found is working in Camera raw or Lightroom to reduce noise - but unfortunately sometimes it affects the details, too. So there's a fine line where it's really usable. The best solution I found for real estate and virtual tour photography is using a DSLR. And for creative photography or 360 videography I keep on using 360 cameras.

      Gaba_VR yes I do have a stitching software , I meant sometimes I need to take 400 pics a Week so taking those pic and post production could be time consuming and off course those pic would have high memory so the tour could time to upload can you please post a video showing how to set up dslr for taking 360 pics thank you

    • @GabaVR
      @GabaVR  4 роки тому +2

      Sure. You can see some basics even in this video. The most important part of it is setting up the nodal point perfectly, so a stitching software like Kolopr Autopano or PTGui can stitch them almost totally automatically, without having to fix stitching issues. You just make sure that you horizon line is correct, and set up the middle point of your panorama, and you can render it.
      Of course, due to the big file sizes, it takes a little bit more time to upload, depending on your internet speed... but after all it's not so much longer as expected first :)

    Hi, Gaba very nice tutorials. It is possible to help me whit some questions ….. which is the best lens for my Nikon Z 6 to take 360 virtual tours Samyang 12mm f/2.8 or Irix 11mm f/4 or TTArtisan 11mm f/2.8 ....?I have a multi-angle pano head Rolley and Nodal Ninja 6 and the software PtGui.

    • @GabaVR
      @GabaVR  3 роки тому +1

      Hi,
      I have good experience with Samyang, so I would prefere that one instead of TTArtisan 11mm f/2.8. Irix is in a little bit higher price range, so it depends on your pocket. But I think the Samyang 12mm is great choice to start 360 photography business. But keep in mind, that it's a full manual lens, so you have to take care of setting up aperture and focus manually each and every time it's needed. So if you don't feel familiar with it, maybe it's worth buying Irix. It doesn't matter it's an f/4 lens, because in practice you wouldn't shoot with f/2.8 anyway 🙂

Your opinion on this because you are a veteran on 360 photography what is the best lens to buy now, I want to give the best quality Samyang 12 mm f2.8 and Irix 11mm f/4 it is the same prices only one is fisheye (Samyang) and the anther is not (Irix).

    • @GabaVR
      @GabaVR  3 роки тому

      I use a Samyang 8mm, which is a full manual lens.
      But as you can see in the next episode of my mini-series about panorama photography, I use it with f11 or higher aperture, so basically, focusing is not an issue.
      With fisheye lenses, almost everything will be in focus even at f3,8, but during virtual tour photography you don't really have to worry about focusing. During shooting I set the distance somewhere between 1,5 meters and infinity.
      I always keep ISO at 100, so practically the only parameter I play around with is the shutter speed, depending on the light conditions.

    Hi from Slovenia 👍. If am I right are we almost neighbours 😆.
    I'm shooting vr360 photos around from 2008 I think.
    For serious projetcts I shot with dslr and fisheye lens, tripod, panohead....
    Few years back I bought Xiaomi miijia 360, and this year Gppro Max. These cams are very friendly for family traveling in quick shots, you can't wear all of equipment on vacations with family.
    For videos are these cams also cool and also for timelapses 360. Gopro has good quality of photo and video but lack of some other functinality. Xiaomi has good app and functions and raw photos. but still not so quality as dslr. But for quick and cheap projects are xiaomi and gopro good cameras.
    I do vr360 also with drone. from 70m, 100m high is as one nodal point and rotate him, and gimbal up, down. with 25 photos I get panoramas belov the drone, as with one lens on Max. For clear sky I go on the wide fields and shoot with gopro max and then stiched with drone photo in photoshop manualy. (last photo on my FB)
    and this is test vr tour over our fields and river Mura
    www.bencak.com/temp/Pomurje_test/index.html
    sky is streched from line of horizont pixels on those photos. but in simple way cut sky from other photos made from dslr or vr cams and you get perfect air panos.
    Nice greetings from Murska Sobota (Mura Szombat 😀)

      Aerial photography is really cool, and it’s a really great idea how you can edit them in Photoshop. 👏👏
      Even more I love the idea of this aerial virtual tour. It could be a kind of “Street View” for pilots. 🙂But it would be very interesting even for me, too, to fly through a path in the air in 360 like this. Great idea 🙌

      @@GabaVR Gaba_VR Thanks. Yes, its great, but papirology, laws, registering drone, every fly coordinates send to CAA and so on....for flying over cities and villages you need more, the driving licence for drone by CAA.
      I have 3 batteries and in 'one shot' i make 6 panos with them.
      And unfortantly then you must go home to charge. 2 hour and more charge per batt ... I'll make air vr tour around and along the river with hot spots to the ground to touristics points and then back to the air... this is huge project, huge about time you spend for shooting and traveling to the spots you get in the air with drone. when I had 10 batteries would be much more faster... 😀 👍

    In conclusion, the problem is to compare the low effort required by a 360 camera vs a better photo quality of DSLRs? In your opinion it is better to create a virtual tour faster or with a better quality?

    • @GabaVR
      @GabaVR  Рік тому

      Absolutely, it's time and effort VS speed...
      But I think there can be a third option. I tested a camera (but haven't published the full review video about it yet) called Trisio Lite 2.
      I made a video about it, how we can create a creative photo effect with it: ua-cam.com/video/9M2cgzujTys/v-deo.html
      The point is that I found that camera very cool for virtual tour photography. It combines the speed and ease of use of compact cameras with the basic idea of shooting with a rotating camera, and in terms of quality it's really close to the DSLR, and it shoots in-camera HDR.
      So if you are thinking about a handy solution, maybe Trisio can be a great tool. It can do nothing but 360 virtual tour photography (no video, no handheld photos, etc..., only great photos specially for virtual tours).

    • @89canale
