Hello, I have a question related to 360 photos. I own insta360 1 inch and I keep taking good quality images and post the in Google as 360 photo. What confused me is the post quality is not that good, although there are other 360 photos posted in Google with outstanding quality. Do you know what is the issue...
Hi mate good video, I'm new to 360 cameras and just bought a insta 360 x3 and looking to buy a good stick, what one do you recommend? A 3m would be ideal
Telesin have a version 3 out now of their 3m stick and it’s the best low budget 3m selfie stick at around £50 - otherwise it’s Insta360’s which cost over £100 - insta is the best one I’d say but buy them from Amazon and you can easily return them if you’re not happy.
Have you had any issues with the sun burning a line in the sensor while recording timelapse's or just recording for long lengths of time, like a solar eclipse?
No I haven’t heard of that or experienced it myself but if you put this question on the Insta360 facebook community page you’ll have a better chance of some responses and experiences/feedback 👍
@@EatSleep360 appreciate it. I asked insta360 customer support and they said they hadn’t heard of it. I need a scientific explanation now of how that works.
can you elaborate more on the resolution myth. If I used the desktop app for exporting/editing my videos, what's the highest resolution that I can get?
In studio you can export reframed at 3840 x 2160 in ProRes or in h265 at 125 mbps. This is an upscaled 4k but it’s the best quality you can get and better than a phone export.
Hi Rich . Thx for sharing your expertise. I think your input will clarify clearly some points to some...😉Personaly I have a Gopro 11 and an Insta360 X3...I didn't try compare them...for me this is a different approach to do pics and vids...that's it🙃 these two action cameras are complementary...😉
Thanks for your comment - yes these camera’s definitely complement each other. The shooting and editing styles are different as you say and people just need to understand this.
I think you are spot on with pretty much everything you say there. I say that as a bit of an image quality snob, my main camera in a Sony A7S3, and I have good audio, gimbal, and other accessories to ensure I get great footage. But I took the 360 x3 and my Sony rig to a climbing gym the other day and whilst the image quality from the Sony was vastly better, the much more interesting footage came from the 360, my brother had one as well and he has been running clips through the phone app and for what they are, they're great. I'm going to say the £500 360 cams took an easy win over my 10 times more expensive mirrorless setup! They are a lot of fun. The one real issue is resolution, but it is filming everything all at once, on little sensors in a relatively cheap camera. In time, those sensors will improve, and we will have 8K or 16K sensors with better low light capability and dynamic range, but I think it's pretty impressive where we are, especially for the price point!
Thanks for the comment - yeah I’m sure the tech is already there for bigger sensors and higher resolution but I think they’re probably holding back because processing it would be a nightmare on most mobiles. The x3 is such a fun camera to use and the images are great on mobile.
with my go pro max it cuts up videos into 8 minute segments to help in case of crash or failure, but over a 3 hour podcast its ridicules to to sit and hand reframe each segment. does the new Insta 360 model do this? if so is there a way to reframe one part and apply that to the rest of the clips segments? and how long are the cut up segments of the video?
It’s a good idea to protect footage but annoying for long takes - shame you can’t adjust it in the menu. The X3 and all insta cameras break it into 30 min chunks but you lose 10 seconds or more in between segments. No you’d have to reframe each segment.
@Eat Sleep 360 hey thanks for the response. I rather deal with 30 min segments than 8 min ones lol I can't wait to get my own X3 been slowly moving away from go pro and I use to be a big fan boy. The 9 over heated on my and with the hard reset having to remove the battery and my set up each time was a deal breaker. On to insta 360!
It actually took me a while to get what the attraction to "Reframe" videos is. As far as I was concerned..I bought this for 360 degree videos..why would I want to flatten them back out to 2D videos? But now I make teasers for some of my videos, and reframe them to do so..
I believe from my research that the X3 has 2 x 5.7K sensors, one for each side. This also explains why it gobbles up storage space on the SD Card. Up until acquiring this I had 128GB cards. Now one needs to weigh possible loss of video against storage space requirements. This coming weekend will be a test. 16+ hour road trip with camera plugged into power supply (unless there is some rain). The limitation becomes the SD Card. Against that a a number of SD Cards and a WD Wi-Fi HDD, that alone downloads SD Card contents.
Wow that’s a lot of footage - you can use 1TB cards but they cost a fortune and it’s a lot of risk in one card. I use 128 cards but I only shoot for short periods.
I edit on my phone just by pinching in and out and turning to the direction I want with my finger and tapping key frame on the time line. I find the spinning around with phone in hand is a great concept but quickly feels like drinking to much grog .
There is ONE major problem. People must be aware it is NOT possible to import video from X3 into an Ipad via cable or direct from the SD card via Quick reader. That absolutely sucks. The only way is by wifi and it flattens the camera battery. Therefore if you want to edit on the run, it has to be on the iPhone or laptop. Apple has done it again, and a quick reader is an expensive CON job. From my observation, there has been no clever dude anywhere who has solved this issue.
It makes no sense that they can’t allow the camera to connect using any usbc cable - I agree the quick reader is well over priced for what it is. Maybe post this on their facebook community page and tag them - they might have an explanation or work around
I think it is surprisingly decent. You can easily spend multiples more on high end mics than the cost of the camera if you wanted, and even then, you still would be wanting to get the mic close to the source of your audio for best quality.

@@MartWilliams yes you’re right, as close as possible and ideally no wind
what we need is a legit sensor in one of these cameras for low light and not insta360s bs false advertising for low light in times square.
If your intent is to communicate that "360 cameras are not gimmicks," you might not want to make a thumbnail that says "360 cameras are gimmicks." 🙄

360 cameras suck. Sick of seeing them in videos.
