@@Stoikpilled If you really are reckless enough to challenge him, I recommend using a +26 Ladle, paired with Darkmoon Blade - a pyromancy spell you get from Gwynevere after completing her questline. I used this set up and got him to 96%hp on my best attempt.

I'm amazed that FromSoftware had the balls to put their hardest boss yet in a tutorial. Still, this has to be my FAVORITE FromSoft boss ever. Just look at his moveset! Just amazing... Bosses like Artorias and Gael walked so Rick could run. Sadly, this video doesn't show his transition into his second phase, when he turns into "Rick, God of Soldiers". That cutscene gives me chills every time...

0:45 only an expert could kite his infamous Cave-Thrust Dance like that. It's clear you've spent hours perfecting this run with something as brilliant as that!
He dodged his Heaven-Hell strike, it's amazing how he can still hit him after that. Because the boss leaves no room for failure. One mistake and you get sliced to pieces.
@@TrainingMacro Without armor, you will die 5 seconds after getting reviving from the oneshot, as his hits stack even in death. It's pretty annoying waiting for that extra 5 seconds, considering how many attempts you'd need to even get close to 2nd Phase.
It's incredible how the seemingly additional rolls is just you dodging his invisible followup slashes. You're already closer to beating him than I will ever be. Keep up the good work.
Insane dodge at 7:12:34, I thought his Godslayer Atom Split was undodgeable, but you got it with those 30 frame-perfect rolls. And just wow, what a perfect counter to his Big Grobler Giga Nuke at 13:57:48. Insane plays and great work until that slip-up at 23:49:13 that cost you the fight.
Yea, that moment at 23:49:13 was a real shame… he did so well up until that point aswell! You can really tell this guy spent a lot of attempts mastering Rick’s moveset. almost got him into his second fase too, just goes to show how one slip up can cost you everything with this boss.
For those confused, the reason you can't see these parts of the video is due to game progression. You're not allowed to know anything about Soldier of God's later phases until you've successfully gotten all endings on a RL1 character in ng+7 and beyond. If that sounds nonsensical, remember, he's a soldier of God. That makes him an Archangel, so yes, he can easily control reality beyond Susan Wakawaka's control.
After installing 20 different mods, some of which increased my damage up into the millions, and about 2 weeks of atempts, I finaly made it to his third phase. The second I entered the third phase he said "I am god, soldier of rick, and i shall teach you true pain". He then created fake discord chats of me talking to minors and sent them to the authorities causing my arest
Truly, no one showcases the incredible might and abilities of a boss with the same caliber of unique flare that you manage to with every upload. Absolutely brilliant. Bravo.
@@asdf_asdf948 Right, any body buff will overwrite the last just like any two buffs of the same type. However buffs in the "Stackable" category can be stacked on top of eachother and alongside other buffs. These include Sacred Order, Erdtree's Blessing & other Erdtree-based buffs.
@@xaechireon there can only be 1 of each buff type applied at a time EXCEPT special buffs. - Weapon(greases/ashes/incants) - Body(Incants/Aromatics sans uplifting/Meats sans Turtle neck) - Aura(Golden Vow/Shared Order/Commander's Standard/Uplifting aromatic dmg buff portion) - Regen(all hp regen sources) - Special Buffs are the Uplifting aromatic 1 Hit barrier/Starlight/Pickled Turtle Neck/Soft Cotton/Assassin's Approach/Jellyfish shield/Endure. Everything else is pretty self explanatory besides Vyke's[Weapon/Body] and Uplifting Aromatic[Aura/Special] being two separate buffs, and can be partially overwritten.
@@Heowolf Don't forget that the regen talisman does stack with a regen buff since they are in fact two different icons likewise the physic regen is a separate buff though most physic buffs stack with normal buffs the only exception being the roll i-frames one does not stack but instead overrides the talisman. Also all stamina regen sources stack (braggart, green turtle, turtle neck, turtle shield, physic)
The amount of bloodstain each signify the countless lives that have been slaughtered; this daring Tarnished also met the same fate. Truly represents the Dark Souls genre.

The godrick soldier boss is by far the greatest boss fromsoft has ever created. I have beaten every fromsoft game and experienced every boss fight the series had to offer. But when i saw the godrick soldier for the first time i knew i was in for something special. Every attack of his was fast and precise, when i would dodge he would counter, when i would counter he would dodge. It was like we were doing a tightly rehearsed dance of combat, i had not felt such enjoyment and exilleration from a boss since i fought the nameless king in dark souls 3. after many hours and hundreds of deaths i knew i was getting close to beating him. His health was getting down to the half way mark and i was certain i would best him at any moment, that was until he shifted into his 2nd form. Tears of joy ran down my face as he did his new downward slash move, i narrowly dodged it. Sweat dripped from my furled brow and between every bated breath i clenched the controller tightly, every respawn at the stake of marika felt like it would be my last until finally at long last i had gotten him down to his last sliver of health. But i had hit a wall, no matter what i did i was unable to break through his defenses, i felt hopeless and lost, is this it? Is this as far as im going to get? Have i reached my limit? I was about to put down the controller and turn the console off until i remembered what the great strategist Sun Tzu had said "In war, the general receives his commands from the sovereign, collects his army and concentrates his forces." With that mantra fresh in my mind i was able to push past his defenses and deliver the finishing blow. As the godrick soldier disappeared i curled up and cried. I cried not just for my victory but for the loss of a powerful enemy that pushed me to my utmost limits, and in the end after almost 7500 deaths i had become a better person. That is why i got a tattoo of the godrick soldier on my left arm, now every time i look at it ill remember that day, the day i became more than what i thought was possible. The day that i pushed even further beyond.
I heard Miyazaki say that he wants his next game to be literally impossible to beat, so you'll have to fight Soldier of Godrick, Mist Noble, Pinwheel, The Phalanx, & Covetous Demon simulaniously. *EDIT:* simulaniously
The story implications of this boss are insane. It's almost as if it is meant to represent what you may become as Elden Lord. The boss' attacks are so fluid and hard hitting, perfectly representing the culmination of hundreds of years as a hardened warrior. Truly an artistic masterpiece
The design for this boss was incredible. My favorite part is when he said “it’s Soldier of Godrickin’ time” and then he Soldier of Godricked all over the tarnished

This is the greatest achievement on this channel. This man actually died to Soldier of Godrick. I believe this is a world first. No one has ever succeeded at such a monumental task. The amount of skill, preparation, and understanding of the game required to die to this boss is beyond imagination. Ongbal truly is the greatest From Software player in the world. Praise the sun.

His themed fights are my favorite because they're so obviously choreographed. He learns the bosses so well, he can bait almost any attack he wants and counter it in a flashy, cinematic way. It's beautiful.

I remember when I saw you walk around the Waterfowl Dance, I thought, "A little more practice and he might be ready." Guess I was wrong. Soldier of Godrick remains undefeated.

Man almost reached Rick's second phase (oops, spoilers). Taking away over 50% of his HP is commendable, truly. I barely noticed he has an attack animation on the "three" sword combo, I had to see Zullie's video in which she slowed the footage down 200%. Ongbal is one of the few I can see defeating Rick in less than a year at least.
Everytime you came this close to getting hit my heart stopped. Eventually he had enough of a mere mortal's nonsense and did a full map AOE 100% hit swing that even the greatest OngBal cannot withstand. The shockwave was so fast and it must have been invisible to the naked eye. Well played, Rick, soldier of god.
Truly a awe inspiring moment when he entered his 3rd phase and said “It’s Godrickin time.” And proceeded to Godrick all over the arena, truly the fight of all time.
Why didn't you showed how afterwards the game closes and uninstalls itself? It really is the hardest boss they ever made and you need to wait for the full game installation everytime to try him again. What where they thinking?!
I woke up today tired from a long night of work, and having doubts about the future. I haven’t had an easy life, and stuck in a dead end job with no promotion in sight I’ve started to feel hopeless about my lot in life moving forward. I was just about to once again sink into my own thoughts of inadequacy and hopelessness when I saw this video in my recommended feed. We’ve all seen Ongbal doing his best to defeat every boss in Elden Ring, even showcasing his immense talent by doing certain bosses without armor or taking any damage. Sure, some of them were less impressive due to how easy the bosses were (Melania and Elden Beast to name a few), but still he marched on in his quest for success. Still, despite his tenacity, I always thought his journey to become the true Elden Lord was hopeless. While some of the easier bosses might’ve been bested by Ongbal, I saw the elephant in the room that all Elden Ring “pros” refused to address. Scattered in The Lands Between are eldritch horrors and creatures that defy imagination and strike fear in all who are foolish enough to face them; however, the true horror has always been Soldier of Godrick. I remember on my first play through the sheer incredulity I felt coming across such a monstrous figure. With his towering 6’ frame, and that lustrous armor glistening despite the darkness of the cave he crawls out of, truly this boss broke the mold. I’ve seen the best players of the game too scared to post their run-ins with this behemoth, as they all cowered from his difficulty. I’d truly given up hope on anybody beating this monstrous boss, and laughed as the supposed pros tried to hide their inability to defeat Soldier of Godrick by posting videos of flashy boss fights without taking damage. Just like my job I thought there was no way to reach true success, a blade hanging above their necks they could never truly escape, as this insurmountable mountain of a man defended the title of true Elden Lord for years to come. I’d given up hope entirely until watching this video. Despite Ongbal being felled in the end, I was beyond shocked that somebody could fight Soldier of Godrick to such a close match. True, he still had 20% of his health left, but for the first time I saw the insurmountable obstacle cracking under Ongbal’s relentless pursuit towards success. Despite the insurmountable challenge, Ongbal never has given up; fighting in the shadows while others have cowered away, I can’t begin to imagine how many hours he has spent being ruthlessly torn apart and spit back out by Soldier of Godrick, only to stand right back up and challenge him again. Perhaps this boss, this last stalwart champion will forever remain undefeated. We are humans after all, struggling in life to run from our inevitable demise. But Ongbal has shown me that he’s never given up hope. Ongbal has stared into the abyss, and when the abyss stared back, remained unfaltering in his endless battle against fate. Soldier of Godrick may not be defeated in my lifetime, and perhaps not my children’s either. I’m sure Ongbal himself has probably accepted that he may be defeated in the end as well, but he marches on regardless, firm in his resolve. And I find myself wanting to do the same. Despite the endless monotony of my job, despite the inability I still see in finding my place in this vast world, I’ve found a new resolve to never give up in the face of failure. Perhaps I’ll be defeated by life as well, perhaps I’ll never get that promotion or find a higher meaning to my life, but at least I’ll have tried. Never give up and continue marching on. You may never accomplish your end goal, but through your failures you will at the very least have overcome your past self and improve beyond the self imposed limits you were chained by. And who knows, just like the Soldier of Godrick might one day be felled, perhaps you too can succeed against impossible odds.
Soldier of godrick is like soloing a raid boss... This is the closest I've seen anyone get to beating him, and that's only because you lucked out on rng
all jokes aside, if ever mods come around to make a hard knight of gothric mod i do wonder how it will be, 10M health, gazillion new projectile attacks he summon automatically, billion random sword movements he learned from elsewhere and use with his claymore something like the Malenia omnislash, riding a horse with hyperarmor and summons new one once the original one dies, or all of the above.
Nah, better if mods just create an AI for him, where he is able to parry properly, jump around and do move set of the black knife assassin's on top of that do spirit summons of banished knights
Kudos to you for working up the courage to fight such a feared boss in the game. It's also crazy how you almost got through his 1st phase out of 100! Most people couldn't even get half way through phase 1 so that's really impressive!
It's only fitting for Soldier of Godrick to be such a difficult boss. Lesser bosses give you pithy "remembrances" and "runes" - if you can defeat the Soldier, you earn Strength. The tutorial exists to instruct the player, and the Soldier's lesson is "give up". Edit: sorry, I didn't mean to suggest I have personally defeated Soldier of Godrick. My knowledge of the boss reward is something I learned from dataminers.

After installing 20 different mods, some of which increased my damage up into the millions, and about 2 weeks of atempts, I finaly made it to his third phase. The second I entered the third phase he said "I am god, soldier of rick, and i shall teach you true pain". He then created fake discord chats of me talking to minors and sent them to the authorities causing my arest
Truly, no one showcases the incredible might and abilities of a boss with the same caliber of unique flare that you manage to with every upload. Absolutely brilliant. Bravo.
The funniest thing to me in these soldier of godrick vids is that you can see the food buffs just overwriting each other on every use lol

@@asdf_asdf948 Right, any body buff will overwrite the last just like any two buffs of the same type. However buffs in the "Stackable" category can be stacked on top of eachother and alongside other buffs. These include Sacred Order, Erdtree's Blessing & other Erdtree-based buffs.

- Weapon(greases/ashes/incants)
- Body(Incants/Aromatics sans uplifting/Meats sans Turtle neck)
- Aura(Golden Vow/Shared Order/Commander's Standard/Uplifting aromatic dmg buff portion)
- Regen(all hp regen sources)
- Special Buffs are the Uplifting aromatic 1 Hit barrier/Starlight/Pickled Turtle Neck/Soft Cotton/Assassin's Approach/Jellyfish shield/Endure.
Everything else is pretty self explanatory besides Vyke's[Weapon/Body] and Uplifting Aromatic[Aura/Special] being two separate buffs, and can be partially overwritten.
@@Heowolf Don't forget that the regen talisman does stack with a regen buff since they are in fact two different icons likewise the physic regen is a separate buff though most physic buffs stack with normal buffs the only exception being the roll i-frames one does not stack but instead overrides the talisman. Also all stamina regen sources stack (braggart, green turtle, turtle neck, turtle shield, physic)

The godrick soldier boss is by far the greatest boss fromsoft has ever created. I have beaten every fromsoft game and experienced every boss fight the series had to offer. But when i saw the godrick soldier for the first time i knew i was in for something special. Every attack of his was fast and precise, when i would dodge he would counter, when i would counter he would dodge. It was like we were doing a tightly rehearsed dance of combat, i had not felt such enjoyment and exilleration from a boss since i fought the nameless king in dark souls 3. after many hours and hundreds of deaths i knew i was getting close to beating him. His health was getting down to the half way mark and i was certain i would best him at any moment, that was until he shifted into his 2nd form. Tears of joy ran down my face as he did his new downward slash move, i narrowly dodged it. Sweat dripped from my furled brow and between every bated breath i clenched the controller tightly, every respawn at the stake of marika felt like it would be my last until finally at long last i had gotten him down to his last sliver of health. But i had hit a wall, no matter what i did i was unable to break through his defenses, i felt hopeless and lost, is this it? Is this as far as im going to get? Have i reached my limit? I was about to put down the controller and turn the console off until i remembered what the great strategist Sun Tzu had said "In war, the general receives his commands from the sovereign, collects his army and concentrates his forces." With that mantra fresh in my mind i was able to push past his defenses and deliver the finishing blow. As the godrick soldier disappeared i curled up and cried. I cried not just for my victory but for the loss of a powerful enemy that pushed me to my utmost limits, and in the end after almost 7500 deaths i had become a better person. That is why i got a tattoo of the godrick soldier on my left arm, now every time i look at it ill remember that day, the day i became more than what i thought was possible. The day that i pushed even further beyond.

The story implications of this boss are insane. It's almost as if it is meant to represent what you may become as Elden Lord. The boss' attacks are so fluid and hard hitting, perfectly representing the culmination of hundreds of years as a hardened warrior. Truly an artistic masterpiece
I loved when his helmet was knocked off and he said "Now I fight as Rick, SOLDIER OF GOD!" and powered up with the Rune of Death.
The design for this boss was incredible. My favorite part is when he said “it’s Soldier of Godrickin’ time” and then he Soldier of Godricked all over the tarnished

This is the greatest achievement on this channel. This man actually died to Soldier of Godrick. I believe this is a world first. No one has ever succeeded at such a monumental task. The amount of skill, preparation, and understanding of the game required to die to this boss is beyond imagination. Ongbal truly is the greatest From Software player in the world. Praise the sun.

His themed fights are my favorite because they're so obviously choreographed. He learns the bosses so well, he can bait almost any attack he wants and counter it in a flashy, cinematic way. It's beautiful.

Damn… that’s actually the closest Ive seen someone get to beating SoG. GG man. Damn also that Phase 2 cutscene? The one part with the sword?! So cool
Man almost reached Rick's second phase (oops, spoilers). Taking away over 50% of his HP is commendable, truly. I barely noticed he has an attack animation on the "three" sword combo, I had to see Zullie's video in which she slowed the footage down 200%. Ongbal is one of the few I can see defeating Rick in less than a year at least.
Everytime you came this close to getting hit my heart stopped. Eventually he had enough of a mere mortal's nonsense and did a full map AOE 100% hit swing that even the greatest OngBal cannot withstand.
The shockwave was so fast and it must have been invisible to the naked eye.

I woke up today tired from a long night of work, and having doubts about the future. I haven’t had an easy life, and stuck in a dead end job with no promotion in sight I’ve started to feel hopeless about my lot in life moving forward.
I was just about to once again sink into my own thoughts of inadequacy and hopelessness when I saw this video in my recommended feed. We’ve all seen Ongbal doing his best to defeat every boss in Elden Ring, even showcasing his immense talent by doing certain bosses without armor or taking any damage. Sure, some of them were less impressive due to how easy the bosses were (Melania and Elden Beast to name a few), but still he marched on in his quest for success.
Still, despite his tenacity, I always thought his journey to become the true Elden Lord was hopeless. While some of the easier bosses might’ve been bested by Ongbal, I saw the elephant in the room that all Elden Ring “pros” refused to address. Scattered in The Lands Between are eldritch horrors and creatures that defy imagination and strike fear in all who are foolish enough to face them; however, the true horror has always been Soldier of Godrick. I remember on my first play through the sheer incredulity I felt coming across such a monstrous figure. With his towering 6’ frame, and that lustrous armor glistening despite the darkness of the cave he crawls out of, truly this boss broke the mold. I’ve seen the best players of the game too scared to post their run-ins with this behemoth, as they all cowered from his difficulty.
I’d truly given up hope on anybody beating this monstrous boss, and laughed as the supposed pros tried to hide their inability to defeat Soldier of Godrick by posting videos of flashy boss fights without taking damage. Just like my job I thought there was no way to reach true success, a blade hanging above their necks they could never truly escape, as this insurmountable mountain of a man defended the title of true Elden Lord for years to come.
I’d given up hope entirely until watching this video. Despite Ongbal being felled in the end, I was beyond shocked that somebody could fight Soldier of Godrick to such a close match. True, he still had 20% of his health left, but for the first time I saw the insurmountable obstacle cracking under Ongbal’s relentless pursuit towards success. Despite the insurmountable challenge, Ongbal never has given up; fighting in the shadows while others have cowered away, I can’t begin to imagine how many hours he has spent being ruthlessly torn apart and spit back out by Soldier of Godrick, only to stand right back up and challenge him again.
Perhaps this boss, this last stalwart champion will forever remain undefeated. We are humans after all, struggling in life to run from our inevitable demise. But Ongbal has shown me that he’s never given up hope. Ongbal has stared into the abyss, and when the abyss stared back, remained unfaltering in his endless battle against fate. Soldier of Godrick may not be defeated in my lifetime, and perhaps not my children’s either. I’m sure Ongbal himself has probably accepted that he may be defeated in the end as well, but he marches on regardless, firm in his resolve. And I find myself wanting to do the same. Despite the endless monotony of my job, despite the inability I still see in finding my place in this vast world, I’ve found a new resolve to never give up in the face of failure. Perhaps I’ll be defeated by life as well, perhaps I’ll never get that promotion or find a higher meaning to my life, but at least I’ll have tried.
Never give up and continue marching on. You may never accomplish your end goal, but through your failures you will at the very least have overcome your past self and improve beyond the self imposed limits you were chained by. And who knows, just like the Soldier of Godrick might one day be felled, perhaps you too can succeed against impossible odds.
Soldier of godrick is like soloing a raid boss... This is the closest I've seen anyone get to beating him, and that's only because you lucked out on rng

all jokes aside, if ever mods come around to make a hard knight of gothric mod i do wonder how it will be, 10M health, gazillion new projectile attacks he summon automatically, billion random sword movements he learned from elsewhere and use with his claymore something like the Malenia omnislash, riding a horse with hyperarmor and summons new one once the original one dies, or all of the above.
Nah, better if mods just create an AI for him, where he is able to parry properly, jump around and do move set of the black knife assassin's on top of that do spirit summons of banished knights

It's only fitting for Soldier of Godrick to be such a difficult boss. Lesser bosses give you pithy "remembrances" and "runes" - if you can defeat the Soldier, you earn Strength.
The tutorial exists to instruct the player, and the Soldier's lesson is "give up".
Edit: sorry, I didn't mean to suggest I have personally defeated Soldier of Godrick. My knowledge of the boss reward is something I learned from dataminers.
