Lovely Video clip! Sorry for chiming in, I would appreciate your opinion. Have you ever tried - Chiveard Sweet Feedback Framework (search on google)? It is an awesome exclusive guide for how to text and get an amazing response from women without the hard work. Ive heard some decent things about it and my friend after many years got great success with it.
Thanks for the inspiring content. I am an ethnic Chinese Malaysian and even I feel very sad for MR Lee's passing. My extended family find their success in Singapore after they left Malaysia and my dad had a liver transplant in Singapore in 2002. Without the transplant he would not have lived past 50. Doctors in Malaysia did not have the expertise nor the equipment to carry out a life transplant then. And yes ,ironically, the doctor who performed the transplant is a Malaysian originally from Selangor. Even as a Malaysian, I feel more love and admiration for Singapore than my very own birth country. It is my deepest hope Singapore will continue to be a first world country and rise to the very top in SEA .
Oh so I wish we had this type of temparament here in Trinidad and Tobago with the People in politics. I still have Hope that we can try to achieve this. The Corruption for the last 50years or so is unbelievable.
I'm from South Korea. I studied in Singapore years ago, when I was in Primary School. Great nation, amazing place. I miss Singapore very much, and would love to visit again. People who criticise Mr. Lee Kuan Yew for being "authoritarian" have most likely never experienced how safe, clean and prosperous Singapore is. In Singapore, you can literally walk home at night from the tuition centre and it's completely fine. You wouldn't be able to do that in Europe or America. Mr. Lee Kuan Yew knew what was best for his nation, and wasn't swayed by Western ideals in the slightest. I respect him very much.
Nor in Albania too, this country wants a leader just like Lee Kuan Yew, because the criminals are governing this country since 1991. The only solution for Albania is a state like Singapore, because the criminals must be punished strictly and not be governed this country.
@@Abcd-gj1fu Same here...leadership is of vital importance to a country! Look at the US, UK and the so called 5-eye countries. We Singaporean are really blessed to have had Mr Lee as our pioneer PM and thus had build a solid foundation for Singapore.
"So when the graduate man does not want to marry a graduate woman, I tell him he’s a fool, stupid. You marry a non-graduate, you’re going to have problems, some children bright, some not bright."
@■ You must be joking. In the end it's the results. Look at the Philippines. If Marcos is anything near Lee do you think they need to export maids to survive.
When he says " Whoever governs Singapore, must have that iron in him...." It gives hell of a goosebumps and a strong kick of adrenaline...! Great Leader!
When he almost broke down emotionally, it goes to show how genuine he is, how much it meant to him, how close the subject is close to his heart. He truely love Singapore.
I missed him. He served his country and countrymen selflessly. Great determination, great intellect and shrewdness, great mind. Utmost respect for him.
The only leader, at whose funeral, I sobbed like a child. And so did the sky, as it was pouring hard during his funeral procession. And I'm not even a Singaporean. That's his impact. Lots & lots of love from Tamilnadu..!!
You sobbed and you said so did the sky as it was pouring. Superstitious people often thinks that a downpour from the sky is a blessing. Heavy rains would caused disruptions & conveniences to any events. I would like to think that a heavy downpour during an event is a punishment from heaven rather than a blessing.
@@VigneshKaushik In my opinion, a heavy downpour is a sign of God’s wrath. In the days of Noel, God pours down the rain for 40 days and 40 nights to destroy the world because of a sinful world. LKY had indeed done a great service to Singapore but at the expense of many who were being persecuted and imprisoned without trial. And some of those were his buddies and people who have supported, helped him to become the PM of Singapore. If you sobbed like a child during his funeral, you need to learn more about this idol of yours.
I'm Singaporean & Mr. Lee's words resonated back then & even now. He's a pragmatist who's the welfare of Singapore. I still recall my parents were fearful when SG got kicked out from Malaysia. My grandparents and parents strongly believed in LKY's vision. We succeeded and I'm grateful for all the past founding ministers for building Singapore up. I never forget that SG is always a tiny nation asked we must never rest on our laurels.
I can't believe it's been 4 years since his passing. I've listened to many of his speeches, some even from decades ago, and yet they are still very much relevant in today's terms. His foresight, and the manner and depth of his thinking was second to none.
In 1975 the company I worked for (Leblond Machine tool ) opened a plant in Singapore. I was asked to go to Singapore and train the people to build lathes. I could see that Singapore was destined for great things. The average age of the kids that I trained was about 18 years of age and very eager to learn. I lived in Singapore for 4 years and felt blessed to be able to work with the people their. It makes me fell good inside to know that I had a part in Singapore's great success. God Bless Singapore!!!
thank you for your kind words. yes we all have to work hard. and mr lee was the one who taught us nobody owes us a living. we work hard and proud of what singapore has become.
I m a Singaporean and I m proud of my founding father the great visionary Mr Lee kuan yew.thx evan for doing this.greatest leader that have ever lived.proud to be a Singaporean
I'm from Singapore and this is a pleasent surprise. The man was very instrumental in building the foundations to lead Singapore from a backwater fishing port to a key economic player in Asia . Our country is forever grateful to him.
Thank YOU so much for this meaningful video. Being a Singaporean, promoting singapore as a hub to grow from in business, it is very wonderful to see someone make such effect to do research and do this video. Thank you. Do join us in our 'shining red dot' book & show coming up. :-D
I WholeHeartedly Agree with you, Azeeza. I, too, was Pleasantly Surprised. Evan Carmichael knows What He He Is Doing. Looking Forward to More Good Content from Him.
When he became emotional in the midst of speech, makes me grateful that Singapore is lucky to have Mr Rajaratnam, Mr Goh Keng Swee and all the pioneer leaders who steered this tiny red dot through the choppy seas.
I veiwed lee kuan yew as best head of state ever..in history.. When he died ,i was in my office in India,I got aware about the demise from google news ..i still remember I was deeply sadden by the news whole day. I wish indian leadership can learn pragmatism and logics from him.
This man is defintely my personal hero to the core! He speaks his mind wisely and fearlessly. Speaking not from an average mind kinda of a person. He did the right thing for Singapore making her being able to rise above the other nations in Southeast Asia. The memory of the upright in the sense of knowing what is right and proper despite endless and perpetual oppositions from many corners, is always a blessing! The late Lee Kuan Yew fully and truly embraced and fit that description and icon!
he was asked in an interview' what does it take to be a good leader' He replied' you have to have a genuine desire and committment to help your people' SO true. Only a genuine leader would say this ..someone committed to doing his country proud. No one would have told SIA pilots off at the time...He did. No one would have told George Bush Snr or Clinton to back off regd the MIchael fay case..He did. yOU GOTTA re spect that ...he was a brilliant man with extremely gifted foresight into the future. I think he knew. I believe the law is too soft on foreigners who commit crime here just to bring in more ..
Agreed, I think it is important to be understanding and tolerant of foreigners while balancing with the fact that the citizens always take precedence over them. It would not make sense that foreigners get off easily from errors that citizens would have to pay for. It should be after all a shared responsibility and consensus that foreigners understand and follow our cultures and laws and in return the country does its best to give them a good experience.
Thank you for making this video. I am a Singaporean who still misses him until today. Whenever I travel abroad, people who know Singapore will praise our country for being clean and safe. This kind of result takes a whole lifetime of commitment, full determination and self-dedication to achieve. Not only that, he had given us a bigger stage to believe in ourselves to achieve something that we could never have imagined.
So many comments from the proud Singaporeans, But let me tell you all, he is loved all over the world and definitely an example not for the country leaders but for ordinary citizens as well
Not really, he was called a dictator and an authoritarian by the western countries and foreign press because he refused to buy the western definition of liberty wholesale.
Thank you for the video, Evan. I am a proud Singaporean and all of us and our future generations owe much to him. It was his clear vision, his selfless passion that was our country, his integrity without corruption, that elevated this little island to a first world country. His words, filled with so much passion and fire, stir so much pride in me. When you see a man so strong cried in front of the camera, you know he truly loved his country. The grandfather of our nation. Thank you, Mr Lee.
A man of extraordinary intellect and great foresight who devoted his entire life building Singapore. We are immensely grateful to him for all that he had done for Singapore!
We owe everything to Mr Lee Kuan Yew. Without him, I won’t even have the luxury to go out for a plate of char kuay teow. Thank you Mr LKY for all the things you’ve done for us. It’s beyond any words.
without him we wont have the kind of medical services we have, clean water to drink from our taps, safe to come home at 11 or midnight , have clean homes and streets, ...etc. i watch one of his videos very often. it spells out everyting from scratch there. mr lee goes down to the nitty gritty to learn and put policies in place. he himself said he likes to go to the root of the problem...he doesnt like to sit across the table and talk ....and he said makeno mistake. 'i am not a one man show. its impossible to run a country on a one man show...
I’m a Singaporean and have been living in the US for the past 22 years - nothing compares to the economic stability and safety we have in Singapore. We take many things for granted that I realize even after all these years wen I return to visit my families. The sense of pride I have to be born in Singapore even after living away for all this time. We could have ended up like our neighboring countries if not for LKY and his unwavering vision he had for a country that is literally hard to see on the world map. I still have goosebumps each time I land in Singapore and a heavy heart when I leave. Definitely planing to retire back home - Singapore will always be my home ❤️
@@imccc so true. If Malaysia government would tell Malaysia Airlines to reduce cost and improve or I will do it myself. Malaysia Airlines will be better, Malaysia will be BETTER, instead we will to borrow money now from China, controlled by debt, our currency keep dropping, people are suffering, talented people leaving Malaysia, and unstable political situation and the worst performance in Malaysia since the year 1998. "Whoever governs Singapore must have that iron in him, or give it up! This is not a game of cards, this is your life and mine. I have spent a whole lifetime building this! And as long as I'm charge nobody's gonna knock it down!" Amazing man. One of the greatest leaders of our time. Very goal oriented and passionate! He knew what he needed to do to make Singapore succeed and he stayed focused. We have come so far and such a short time ... Simply put - Singapore would not be where she is now if it wasn't for this man. Kudos, Evan, on seeing that. Have you visited Singapore?
Casusbellio65, You are correct 100%. LKY is/was the greatest national leader in the world so far as I am concerned, He brought Singapore from a shabby British Colony into the financial wonderland it is today. Schoollng education heights, the economy, and the moulding of several nations who live peaceably were other achievements. I have lived and worked there over many years from 1956 thru to the 80's and I go back to Singapore every two years only to find it has advanced even further thanks to LKY their nations would be far more successful than they ever hope to be under the present governments which are shady, shabby and only think of themselves.
but it seems now our present govt is selling singapore off to the highest bidder. anybody with money come here...thres corruption and dont say there isnt. right up to the highest levels as been proven in news reports and elsewhre online.
he said' this is my country, my home, You will step over me over my dead body' I remember that when foreigners try to push their weight around on us singaporeans. !
I am Syrian, and i wish if we have someone like Lee Kuan Yew! Syria is really in need of a brilliant strong leader like him especially now !! I red about Kuan incredible plans to transform Singapore! He is a dream for any nation ! Good luck for Singaporean people and i wish you all the best ! I hope one day we can learn from you and be friends.
LKY and Mahathir fight for 2020 back in the era of Asean tigers era. now it is undeniably LKY has won. and i am living 10-15 years behind singapore, in Malaysia. :)
I've had the pleasure of visiting Singapore on two occasions. My wife was brought up in Singapore, her father was the dockyard superintendent, I only have admiration for your country and Lee Kuan Yew. I'm from a smaller country than your own, Scotland, how I wish we had a leader like LKY here in the UK.
From the time Mr Lee Kuan Yew first became the Prime Minister of Singapore, the Western world and the liberal media have always been very critical of him and of the political system in Singapore. They poured scorn on his ideas, they criticized the way he governed, they called him a dictator, they doubted the validity of the election results. When he passed away, Singaporeans turned out in droves to mourn. The way that Singaporeans mourned for him confirmed that when Lee Kuan Yew led his party to decisive victory election after election, the results were not fluke. The entire Singapore was solidly behind him!
thats because he did what he said he would do and made a fantastic change in our lives.for the better ..now we are sinking down the greasy pole to destruction without him at the helm
Mr. Lee Kuan Yew transformed Singapore into a FIRST WORLD COUNTRY in a short period of time. To me, he is the Greatest Stateman Singapore will ever have.
Not really man !!!! His eldest son Lee Hsien Loong is a 🤑🤑🤑🤑🤑🤑🤑 and greedy Political leader. Lee Kuan Yew formed PAP and his eldest son took all apart and consumed high $$$$ in tax payers deductions and leaving all high and dry. Please check out Lee Kuan Yew's story before sending out flattering words and comments 👌👌👌👌 Thank you.
I am eternally grateful that Singapore had Mr LKY as our first Prime Minister. Whenever I see the mess going on in other countries, I think of Mr Lee. How grateful I am to him for building up a corruption free Singapore. I still miss Mr Lee...
I am born in the 60s, growing up in kampong running around bare footed, and now living in a spacious condominium. I benefited a lot from my country system. My partner and I shouted so loud his name when his hearse drive through, thanking him for his contributions to Singapore.
I fully agree on the success he had made on this nation , but the billion dollar question is where do we sail when he is not at helm and long gone? Continue blindly with the second set of crew or getting new crew ?
Very inspirational because Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew made Singapore a great model for other countries to follow.I find him stern but sensitive, a disciplinarian with affection , tough but caring. He is a brilliant man and yet I do not find him to be arrogant at all!He is a superlative human being, showcasing what fragile human being's best version can be.Now this is a leader we can really look up to,emulate and respect with all we've got!
I miss you, our respectable Founding Father of Singapore! You spent your whole life building up Singapore and now we're enjoying the fruits of your labour. I salute you, Mr Lee! 🇸🇬🇸🇬🇸🇬
THANK you for this video. He's one of the Best leaders of all time. My country Trinidad and Tobago is Natural resource rich like Nigeria and Guyana and Venezuela next door. For years we've been talking of the Singapore model, because Its not natural resource rich, but He DEVELOPED the Most Important Resource, the PEOPLE, THE HUMAN RESOURCE.
Sorry, he wasn't the economist nor have a very good idea. It's his team members like Dr. Goh Keng Swee who was the architect and economist. LKY failed miserably when he instituted the "Two Is Enough" policy which failed badly due to his lack of econometric understanding and was abolished but was too late to turn the tide.
@@stng4857 Talking nonsense. 2 is enough is the right policy then. You speak as if life in Singapore would develop like it is now if parents start having 7-8 children. It won't.
I am from Algeria. .. working a hotel manager in the UK .. I had a privilege meeting with this great man when he was staying in the hotel ( Taplow house hotel ) .... I had a long conversation with him it was on the 2011 he said to me if I had a country like algeria I will not struggle lot to build a strongest economy in the world and the whole African nations they will follow.... the problem in your country said the consitensency ( lack of change, lack of deviation). in the wrong path for so long .... when I heard about his death sadned me a lot the people of Singapore they should be grateful to this man .
We are indeed eternally grateful to our grandpapa of Singapore. He made this country. Of cos with the help of his team of ppl but without him, Singapore is probably nothing.
"Follow the rainbow is my favorite. That´s about following the heart fearlessly, nourishing the adventurous spirit, njoying life and success to the max. All that good stuff ;) "
I grew Up in Singapore and now i live in Germany and wenn i am older i want to Go Back Lee Kuan yew is one of the Greatest Leaders in the world He Made Singapore to one of the Greatest countrys in the world Out of nothing He is the reason why i will Work hard in school to one day Comeback to this great country thank you Lee Kuan yew and every singaporean to build this great country Out of nothing
I have read his books, seen his videos and with each viewing and reading, my admiration grows more and more. As dues my frustration for not having one, not one single leader of his calibre here in India. His address at that editors' meeting in 88, his verbal whipping of that upstart know-all Tim Sebastian, his interviews at the Istana... Direct, frank, honest, transparent. Asia in particular is much the poorer for his absence. Mr Lee, please take a rebirth in India at least once🙏🏻
@@johnchua1087 He's a way greater figure than Lee Kuan Yew. He contribution like giving women's rights are way ahead of himself and he's done much more to the world than Lee Kuan Yew. In his time he had done great things that even western nations had not touched. He successfully secularised a deeply religious state which i doubt even Lee Kuan yew could achieve. Lee Kuan Yew done great things, but Kemal Attaturk is way more than that. And not to forget his contribution in WW1. Battle of Gallipoli. Kemal Attaturk is better remembered by the world too!
@@davidcorrenberg2782 In that aspects, what had he done for the native Indians of USA? What has he done for the blacks and racism in USA? Woman rights are only for USA and it does not catch in other parts of the world even till today. Sorry, I do not remember this guy but I do remember what Confucius and many others more important figures like Churchill, Einstein but never an activist like you mentioned. I will always remember what Lee Kuan Yew did to help change China and to debunk that economies only succeed with democracy. You do not have to convince me and neither am I trying to convince you. The thing is what I believe how Singapore is a success and of the key thing I believe is any illegal immigrants never enter Singapore to cause troubles. This is what other countries should follow.
1. This is not a game of card it's your life and mine. This shows Mr Lee Kuan Yew's commitment to building a successful Singapore. 2.You must give people hope, hope of improving their conditions. This shows how much he cared for his people regardless you are a Singapore citizen and foreigners who stay and work in Singapore. Our first prime minister was a firm man who I deeply respect and he was a loving husband. Evan, I welcome you and your family to visit Singapore for a leisure trip. Thank you for making this clip.
I like this video and it shows that a leader is responsible for the lives of his country. That was a WOW moment for me and the tears of a man who cares about his country.
Singapore, the only successful example of multi-cultural society in our world... head-and-shoulder above all else, so much so that the ethnic Chinese feel lucky to be born in Singapore, ethnic Malay feel lucky to be born in Singapore and ethnic Indian feel lucky to be born in Singapore.....LKY, my hero. The Muslims mixed with the main stream Chinese...
Yeah like what happened in little India riot... Please let's be honest, xenophobia is common in Singapore people are just scared to do it online because it can be tracked. that's why you guys have an advertisement where a sg Chinese stays in an Indian household and vice versa.aro and rentals indicates "no Indians".... But again not all around 70% only perhaps
@@southerngirl0085 you cannot blame the ethnic Chinese for being discriminating. Ethnic Chinese are practical and all they want is to have tenants who will pay promptly and give less problems. Unlike Muslims for example who mostly would only rent out their homes to their own kind due to religious reasons, the ethnic Chinese normally would not be selective as long as you meet the criteria above. However, from decades of experiences and sharing of information, the ethnic Chinese knows from unwritten statistics that the other races have higher tendency of absconding without pay or make damages to the house. I have witnessed this through my own mother although another property was paid fairly on time. Even Malay bosses told me frankly how difficult it is to do business with their race and others unlike the Chinese who pays promptly without overdue debts. This is not to say that there are all black sheeps in a particular race and not all sheeps are white among the Chinese. But the fact is, the frequency of incidents will accumulate over time and account for people's perception.
@@southerngirl0085 there is a huge difference between Singaporean Indians who grow up in Singapore and India Indian who live in Singapore who are only in Singapore for a few years to work and brings the India culture with them. Singaporean Indians mix freely and understand respect. Besides that, they understand the common courtesy of Singapore culture. It isn't racism it is common respect and understanding
yeah living in HDB flat.. no car.. smaller house.. living in the most expensive city in the world.. good luck.. in Malaysia even the lowest B40 can own landed house and car.. let alone T20 those than earn RM15,000 can own condo(in KL) and BMW.. if outside city.. can even own 2 stores house. Mean while in SG.. those that even with $7k SGD still stuck in small HDB and taking MRT everyday
singaporean must give credit to Mr LKY, he has dedicated his whole life for the well being of singaporean, yes he might be strict, iron fist, no nonsense man, but than , if not for his tough stand, singapore will not be as marvellous as today. just like teaching a child, good discipline. when the child grows up, he will be a excellent young man. which every father wants.
Legacy ? Which or what legacy - what across the globe ? Don't anyhow say. It's not so. Recognition is probably what you had meant. Recognition is blessing & praise being bestow by others...not to be claimed by the individual, understand? ... Ah wang does not sell cucumber & praise his cucumber. Praise and compliments can only be given by others.... .... Surely, LKY had been receiving much Recognition & Praises from some worldwide highly esteemed persons.
Holy s**t! What an awesome, patriotic, loyal, passionate leader! I wish all our politicians loved their own countries and their own people this much! Rest easy LKY, you did amazing things, and that is why your amazing beautiful country is loved by so many around the world now. Your success is now your nations success, and an example to all of us. Massive love and respect from NZ.
@Legolas鸟王爷 it's called the politics of envy ... we envy you for your natural providence, you envy us for our success without any ... its the persistent quarrel between loving neighbours. Love you to bits!
When he came to sri lanka (ceylon those days) my country in 1960 he said "i hope i can make Singapore like Ceylon".... look where is sri lanka look where is Singapore now shows the magnitude of the man and influx of corrupt politicians in sri lanka.... Mr. Lee is hands down one of the greatest political leaders in the world ever!
jessie james hmm, I’m a Singaporean (I believe you said you’re a Singaporean too?) and you are very rude to make that statement. Please study history and respect others before you make any statement. Sri Lanka is an important country for Europe in two very important commodities during that time - rubber and tea. In 1950 during the Korean War. Sri Lanka enjoyed a booming economy due it the price in rubber. In 1957 Sri Lanka enjoyed another boom due to its price in tea. Sri Lanka was very beautiful and prosperous in 1950s. It’s an important trading center for Europe for its rubber and tea that they could not live without. So yes, at that time our PM Lee was hopping Singapore could be as prosperous like Sri Lanka.
As a Singaporean I do respect Mr Lee Kwan Yew & I wont forget him till my time come to leave this World, bcos of him Singapore is Excellent Popular Wonderfull Country in this World.
Current SIngaporean leaders have also become corrupt now. Singapore is the only place you will see people to the age of 80 still working everywhere to earn close to a $1000, with possibly a fifth of that spent on transport alone. The leading party's explanation? The elderly would have lost their dignity if they did not work and instead received help from the government. The government has clearly lost their way in the fact that they are fighting to monopolise money from the poor for themselves instead. This is borderline slavery. Current Lee Hsien Loong (LKY's son) has only provided plastic arguments and plans at every general election and has not delivered, yet he still wins because all media is pro-PAP (his party). The large proportion of elderly population and the foreign workers they bring in will always vote for them, the elderly only watch heavily pro-pap mainstream media and the foreign workers are grateful for their good lives here. However, his party in fact now, a bunch of clowns which is summed up in the speech by Heng Swee Kiat, a high ranking member of the party and also the deputy prime minister, "For our East Coast Residents, we also have a plan" (search it up on UA-cam), and still speaking despite the fact that his time is up, delivering a speech that any one could do better in within minutes. Even his follow up only stated that he has a "together we care at east coast plan", not even explaining what he aimed to do at all, casting doubts that he had no plan at all. Because of that, only I feel that Singapore has now reached a tipping point and that the leadership must and should be changed asap.
The success of singapore prove all liberal leftist in the west are moron. Lee kuan yu was swore enemy leftist socialist idea.no wonder a lot of liberal press despite him
Bernie keep mention denmark and sweden as a socialist model,(thet r not socialist)before that cuba and venezuela.and before that soviet.how come bernie sander refuse to cite singapore as a model?cuz singapore was not socialist country.

I am a Malaysian and I have so much respect for Mr Lee; he's truly an international statesman, one with a great vision for his beloved Singapore, and put his vision into reality with sincerity and immense intelligence, and a great team of like minded cabinet fully supported by well trained civil services...the list of his achievements is great and long, all well documented, and need not be repeated here. He is indeed my hero! Would Malaysia ever have such a leader? I think not in a thousand year!!
@@cheenangng4050 You really think so? With the benefit of hindsight, we were doomed to fail after Tunku's and Razak's watch; all PMs after them were either incompetent or nefarious or corrupt amongst whom we have a kleptocrate. The worst was the 22 years under the mamak who held his dark selfish objective close to his heart. We had no chance at all, at all levels when race and religion were the playcards of the politicians along with the inferiority complex of the need for Malay Supremacy. Think about it! And the ethnic parties (MCA, MIC, Gerakan etc..) were just as bad, and never take care of their community interests but only to enrich themselves. No, we never had the chance at all.
Singapore is so blessed to have Mr Lee Kuan Yew as the Leader! Till today after his passing, he will always be with me and my family, and generations to come.....
We miss LKY even he had passed on. He know how to motivate and put the best man on the job to build Singapore. He did not want yes men in his government. He wants men who debate with him for better solutions on solving national issues and problems. This are things we really miss !
"If you wanna hire great people and have them stay working for you, you have to let them make a lot of decisions and you have to be run by ideas not hierarchy. The best ideas have to win, otherwise good people don't stay."
You've outdone yourself again, Evan! I love this video. LKY is one of the greatest men of his times, and this video has captured him well. Thanks for sharing it!
Great and humbling to see our late former leader being embraced by the world. Missed him alot. Really alot. If he had been there for the world than just SG, the world would really become a much better place. His passion lives on.
LKY is the epitome of Opened-mindedness. With his level of pragmatism, he was never swayed by his emotions. His form of emotions were just flavours added onto his convictions. A true leader.
I deeply admire the founding father of Singapore, Mr. Lee Kuan Yew. The challenges he has overcomed for the people of Singapore, shows just how much he loved his country and the people to have a good, prosperous life. The 10th rule of success of Mr. Yew-- Dedicate your life to something great-- sums up the rest of the rules. He has dedicated his whole life in building Singapore for what it is now--a very progressive first world country in Southeast Asia, second to Japan.
I’m from malaysia 🇲🇾 and I must say that we don’t have to go far to see the difference … I love my country malaysia and like so many of my fellow Malaysians, we honour and respect Mr.Lee Kuan Yew for his resoluteness, steadfastness, focus and commitment towards building Singapore 🇸🇬 who were at one time a part of us … It’s not hard to find the difference which made singapore what they are and Malaysians what we are in terms of progress & achieving global standards, it all comes down to one singular word, M E R I T O C R A C Y … & LKY was determined to make sure that philosophy will realize his vision of the nation that Singapore 🇸🇬 would become … One man and his resolute vision … As millions around the world, We honour you Mr. Lee Kuan Yew … We know you too, like all human beings are not perfect, we make the wrong decisions many times but you made the difference … 🇲🇾🇸🇬
So true! No one can claim to be perfect. Only hindsight can reveal the true worth of a person and his/her achievements once he/she has passed on - the legacy that's left behind. As a decent human being, we honor and pay tribute to a person's goodness and virtues, and disregard his/her imperfections, if the former outweighs the latter. This is what decency is all about! If one keeps digging up imaginary dirt and throwing mud at a deceased person, that person is worse than an ingrate beast and not worth wasting your breath nor energy on him! He will get his just rewards from God (whoever he believes in) in due time!
Thank you. For all this great sharing of love and respect to a great superb selfless leader very rare to find. Thank you sir LKY. I work also in Singapore for almost three years. I came I saw and live in Singapore for almost 3 years, it's worth living and from there I established my home and family in the province..Thank You Very Much and also to the people of Singapore and Malaysia whom I mingled and work with. Thank You Lord God Almighty Father in Jesus name, Amen...
Mr. Lee Kuan Yew is one of irreplaceably greatest man deep in my heart. I set him as my life time role model not because of his decent educational background, neither because he is an authentic Chinese descendant. But because of he is a real patriot, even though how deeply desperate reaction when he was informed Singapore was kicked out by Malaysia. Then he used his wisdom and determination to thrives on that a piece of poorly abandoned place. He never gave his fellow citizens the British democracy and freedom, I mean never ever! However, instead of all political hypocrisies, he gave back them his promise which won the prosperous in their domestic economic development and respecting for Singapore from worldwide. He created a miracle on that previous poorly desperate place. He used his governance as the responsibility. He made the ethnic equality happen which the US is still pursuing by dozens of goofy bills.
Some days ago, I started watching Lee Kuan Yew's speeches on UA-cam. And I couldn't stop. Even now I'm watching him one video after another. I must have watched that video clip a hundred times with the words "Whoever governs Singapore, must have that iron in him, or give it up......as long as I'm in charge, nobody is going to knock it down." No wonder Charlie Munger has two busts at home, one is Benjamin Franklin, and the other is Lee Kuan Yew, and the only contemporary is Lee Kuan Yew.

The only solution for Albania is a state like Singapore, because the criminals must be punished strictly and not be governed this country.
but now is different.
Actually Chinese majority societies are all pretty safe. Same in Taiwan, HK, China. Next maybe Japan, Korea. But not the whites and blacks societies.

Mean while in SG.. those that even with $7k SGD still stuck in small HDB and taking MRT everyday

singaporean must give credit to Mr LKY, he has dedicated his whole life for the well being of singaporean, yes he might be strict, iron fist, no nonsense man, but than , if not for his tough stand,
singapore will not be as marvellous as today. just like teaching a child, good discipline. when the child grows up, he will be a excellent young man.
which every father wants.

Singapore is very very lucky to have such an intelligent and determined person as the first PM.

When he came to sri lanka (ceylon those days) my country in 1960 he said "i hope i can make Singapore like Ceylon".... look where is sri lanka look where is Singapore now shows the magnitude of the man and influx of corrupt politicians in sri lanka.... Mr. Lee is hands down one of the greatest political leaders in the world ever!

what did he mean by that? what part of ceylon did he want to emulate? the tourism? thanks for your feedback.
jessie james hmm, I’m a Singaporean (I believe you said you’re a Singaporean too?) and you are very rude to make that statement.

To be fair, Malaysia had the chance 58 years ago

I love my country malaysia and like so many of my fellow Malaysians, we honour and respect Mr.Lee Kuan Yew for his resoluteness, steadfastness, focus and commitment towards building Singapore 🇸🇬 who were at one time a part of us …
It’s not hard to find the difference which made singapore what they are and Malaysians what we are in terms of progress & achieving global standards, it all comes down to one singular word,
M E R I T O C R A C Y …
& LKY was determined to make sure that philosophy will realize his vision of the nation that Singapore 🇸🇬 would become …
One man and his resolute vision …
As millions around the world, We honour you Mr. Lee Kuan Yew …
We know you too, like all human beings are not perfect, we make the wrong decisions many times but you made the difference …

It is not just meritocracy. There is also corruption. When corruption is readily accepted and everyone is doing it. There will not be progress.
Thank you. For all this great sharing of love and respect to a great superb selfless leader very rare to find. Thank you sir LKY. I work also in Singapore for almost three years.
