- 7 Austrian Accents - 1 Sentence
#austria #learngerman #accent
Welcome to the Austrian German Tutorial. In this Tutorial I'd like to present seven Austrian Accents. Of course, there are many more accents and dialects in Austria. They might change from valley to valley or even from village to village. This should just be a quick overview and insight into some accents, so here we go...
The learning goal of this video is to get to know seven common Austrian Accents with the help of just one sentence. I chose the sentence "Yes, that's clear, isn't it?" which is "Das ist klar, oder?" in Standard German.
Let's start with Upper Austria, Oberösterreich.
Steiermark is how Arnold Schwarzenegger speaks.
He comes from there
My godfather speak a slightly different version of tirolese accent. His father was born near Innsbruck and his mom was half sudetenlander, half moravian and spoke both austrian and sudetenlander german.
I think "goi" or "göi" would have been a better fit for Upper Austria when it comes to the word "oder". Similarly also the other dialects, e.g. "gell" or "gall" for Carinthia. I think "oder" sounds a little bit artificial, with the exceptions of Vorarlberg and Tyrol (and maybe Vienna depending on the age of the speaker).
If you don't use dictionaries for translation, but actual native speakers, you should try to not give them a German sentence to translate, as thereby their brain automatically blends out many native words in favour of German ones. E.g. if you ask someone in Eastern Austrian what "Straßenbahn" is in their dialect, they would probably answer you "Stråßnbaun", even though "Bim" is more common. Instead show them a picture, or an English sentence, maybe even a gap text. This reduces the influence of the question itself.
I know the best way to do it: you ask them "was ist das?" like you're running a typical German class in an English school. Then you ask them "was ist dein lieblingsfach?".
Burgenland is obviously the Scotts of Austria
Tirol are the Scousers I guess
Austria is the Scotland of the Germanic area 😂
Nope the southern irish.. cork .. they even look alike 😊
Btw the accents are ok but not really good.. tuat ma laad😉
Grüße an Niederösterreich und Salzburg
In Salzburg klingt es genau gleich wie in Oberösterreich, zumindest, so, wie ich es sagen würd, eh kloa! 😅 danke fürs Video 🙏🏻
Bitte mehr davon :D herrlich
Hahaha sau geil! Weiter so
7 accents in Austria Wow, many accents to a small country. Bro with south Tirol isn't a part of Austria but its remains on Italy?
Yes, exactly.
@@austriangermantutorial4008 homie bro, the austrian german is the one of sons from bavarian german , austrian german and swiss german are brothers? they have origin in bavarían german?
@@austriangermantutorial4008 Why south Tirol dont came back to Austria again??
@@SinilkMudilaSama Well, Austro-Bavarian (the language spoken in most of Austria and southern Bavaria) and Alemannic, to which Swiss German belongs, are both very closely related. Old Alemannic and Old Bavarian were still nearly identical, which is the reason we sometimes speak of an Alemannic-Bavarian group.
@@SinilkMudilaSamabecause is italy
Am vorarlberischen musst noch etwas üben. Da gibt es kein „is“ sondern nur „isch“ oder „ischt“! 😉
still learning :-) ua-cam.com/video/ZJDlulWnDII/v-deo.html
Bro the Austrian german have origins in wich kind of german in medieval and ancient on bavarian accents on Germany or in other accent that we foreigners don't know?
Voralberg/Swabian; Tirol& Salzburg/Bavaria and Slavic germanized or vice-versa! And Slovenian, Slovak, Hungarian and Czech!
Saltzburg?
Voralberg sounds Scottish and Burgenland sounds Irish lol
Und,,,,wo sich windet Land Salzburg?
Ich habe die 7 Akzente ausgesucht, da sie sich stärker unterscheiden im Vergleich zu Salzburg.
Apparently There's a Place called Rachau... my name is Rachau 😂
Where is Nieder Österreich?
I just focused on 7 accents because the differences are clearer. The dialect of Niederösterreich is similar to the Viennese dialect, but changes if the person lives near Upper Austria or Styria.
@@austriangermantutorial4008 ok, I understand
@@austriangermantutorial4008Yeah, true!
I live in the southwest of Niederösterreich and people have mistaken me for being Upper Austrian or Styrian 😅
"Jo des is eh kloa, a nied"is kärnten
Kärnten hat auch mehrere Dialekte, aber üblicherweise wird es "nit" oder "neta" ausgesprochen, wobei "neta" eigentlich nur im Raum Wolfsberg eventuell noch Görtschitztal.
Some Deutsch in Österreich is the drunk Englismen that speak Deutsch 😂😂
Also...Kärnten hat überhaupt gar nicht gepasst. Aber goa nit! Das Problem bei die restlichen Österreicher ist (ausgenommen Stmk), dass die das å oft gar nicht so betonen können, wie es im Kärntnerischen nötig ist.
only the south of styria speaks like that, majority is completely different imo - we actually make fun of ppl from the south if they talk like that :D
😂😂😂😂
I feel offended
You butchered the Vorarlberger accent…
