I just bought the Shokz opencomm and love it. Previously I had the Aftershokz for a couple years and it just recently died on me lower I do have to agree wearing it in a noisy environment does have its drawbacks but for me it is only a small inconvenience.
I completely agree with everything you said. Great review. I drive a truck for a living and these are practically useless at highway speeds but I still use them when I go into a business. It's not an audiophiles dream headset but it's perfectly acceptable for any voice oriented communication. The blueparrott is perfect for a truck, the audio in and out is as close to perfect as it gets. People on the other end have no idea I'm in a moving truck. My issue is going into a business with it on my head. I look like a fast food worker that forgot they had the headset on. That's where the Shokz headset shines. It's open ear construction allows me to hear the people I'm talking with in person and since my ears aren't plugged with an earbud they seem more confident that I'm actually listening to them. In this setting the outgoing call quality is perfectly acceptable too.
Regarding your gripe with the clunky mute function with this headset, it seems the newly released OpenComm 2 UC has a dedicated mute button on the mic itself. Seems super useful! Are you are of this yet?
I am typically aware of shokz hardware … certainly spent some time looking at the site today. The mute function will be welcomed - though wish I could sync the mute function with Teams as well… with any luck more ‘certifications’ will come
The hardest thing to find out, from any other video on UA-cam, was how far of a distance these OpenComm headset's could perform away from the connected device, whether it be the USB dongle, or the Bluetooth. Up until this point in time, I was concerned the dongle added more range, and I paid an extra 100 bucks for no reason, going from the OpenRun. I'm soo glad the bluetooth has an increased range. I have to leave my phone in a window to get decent signal. -Country-
The mic on this headset is my absolute favourite, as it somehow manages to suppress unwanted noise without digital distortion (a plague of many modern headsets). My main gripe is that I can't find a windscreen (or foam) to fit snuggly over the mic for use in windy environments. The windscreen from an old Etymotic headset fits perfectly but it is fraying and I've found nothing new since then. If you know of a suitable windscreen please share!
I LOVE my OpenComm headset. Noise cancellation feature in excellent, very light and very user-friendly. However, I'm on my third set because for some reason the boom doesn't work as well after 9 to 10 months. My fellow co-workers will tell me that I sound far away. Does anybody know why this happens?

Still waiting for the OpenComm2 which was teased this March - but unfortunatly there still is no offical release date...
Didn’t know it was even teased … interesting 🤔
It is available now on their website
Couldn't make a better review ! thanks

That has never happened to me … strange. The only time I’ve heard comments is when I’ve forgotten to put my boom arm down
How do u think open comm 2 would go in a motorbike helmet with noise reduction boom mic ?
does the dongle solve the TEAMS beeping-on-mute problem?
No
Version 2 that just came out does from what I hear
@@neverenoughtech It's been widely reported it does. Not when muting on the device, but muting from Teams when connected to Teams.
Can you review the Sony Float Run?
Certainly a possibility
Uc100 sounded a lot better in that comparison
