Honestly that’s a very valid opinion. As great as it is seeing the devs showcase more of what they’ve been working on, the fact that it took this long to get there was a little disappointing. I just hope that the FNF devs are gonna be more up front in the future.

Atm, yeah. But it's not necessarily a bad thing. People don't have to try and compete with FNF and can just do their own thing, which means a very nice ammount of freedom
You can still watch TV, go outside, read a book, ask for a refund...Um, no refund. That game is free. Uh, this is not a game! It has nothing to do with a game.
I hate to admit that FNF is the first and only kickerstarter project i backed, but now i kinda regret it. Backed it for a t-shirt and barely getting any information of what's going on. Now I know the feeling of backing something up to either being disappointed or feeling scammed out of my money.
When the Kickstarter began, I was in my freshmen year of high school. I have since graduated, been employed, and payed my first year of taxes before this game has came out, let alone gotten a proper update.
2 things they need to do: 1 - Make the update blogs MONTHLY if they can't be bothered to keep us in the loop weekly (especially with the useless venting that no one asked for). 2 - Be more honest about some of the production. Specifically instead of just continuously saying 'the T-shirts will be here soon' over and over again, just be honest and explain WHY the T-shirts have been delayed a lot.
They’re just irresponsible people who bit off far more than they could chew. I’m GENUINELY expecting this project to end up being cancelled and for refunds to be issued (if you’re lucky. For all we know, could just say they did it lmao)
@@stickerzz Counterpoint, he tried making the entire game on his own with spaghetti code and would blame the community for his procrastinating. "Thousands of emails a day" already said enough, the FNF Team definitely should've talked about the development however I agree.
I feel like there's a point where they should have just subcontracted another company to do the bulk of the game development. There's hundreds of extremely skilled, passionate developers from companies that could help and they still haven't used any of them!! My god - delegate your tasks, FNF team!! There's no excuse for this level of mismanagement with how much money they have...
They way the handled their kickstarter has actually taught me some valuable lessons about how to do a kickstarter if I ever do one someday. 1.) Do updates often, even if they don’t have any content just say,”Hey, nothing much to report. Just wanted to show we’re here” 2.) Updates are not a twitter, don’t use them just for shitposts or venting 3.) Hire a manager, or teach your team some management skills themselves
With as much money as they made they could have payed someone else to make the game and still pocket a nice profit. Stuff like this just gives kickstarter a bad name and makes it harder for legitimate developers to get funding.
@@Jerold_Howard its not a solution because a vompletely different team wouldnt capture their essence for the game and what made fnf be fnf in the first place.

2:23 hi, I used to do webdev and this... surprises me. I know the devs behind this game are big open source fans (I know that because the game itself was open source for a long time, afaik still is, and the final build probably will be at some point), but it does surprise me that they decided to reinvent the wheel and make their own blogging platform rather than just... fork one of the many existing ones. or easier, rely on the intrastructure they already have (such as Kickstarter itself). It balloons the scope of the whole project and its budget, and it makes me feel that these guys do not have their priorities straight.
theyll do anything to delay making the game. trying to start a blog? dedicate the time and money to make a custom one. fans want progress? have the lead artist doodle on a live stream for hours a week and claim its "development streams". people are talking about a mod more than the main game? have the developers shadow-run an account that wastes time each day tweeting about and inciting drama in the community to break apart mod teams.
I have a bit of sympathy for them- not in how they handled it, it's genuinely awful. But for how they are unable to show anything, look back to week 7, ugh got modded in before it got put into the game, the whole leaked Darnell week was modded in, each and every erect remix is modded in. They can't show off any art, music, gameplay, etc or else people will trace, extend, etc. But just going silent isn't the way to go about it, having teasers that don't show ingame assets but just giving ideas on what they're working on, or even telling us what they're working on would be great!
Yeah that's pretty messed up. Every time they do release a sneak peek of anything, people will "leak" it or make it their own just to spoil it for the devs. I kind of understand it in that aspect.
Thank you for keeping us updated, I am a backer since 2021 and I receive more info about the game from you rather than them, saw your previous one last year as well, see you in 2025 guys!
@@StafkiGTN I’m gonna wait until the full game releases to see if it’s gonna happen, I still have pretty low expectations for this game. Just because an update comes out, doesn’t mean my opinion changes.
love your non-otamatone content so much man, certain channels are like eating junk food (in a good way) and just absolutely hit the spot, and yours is one of them
Honestly, the most damning thing about the entire full game situation is that in the time between Week 7 or so and now, fans managed to not only do a new engine that vastly improves the OG one (aka not janky as hell/doesn't implode doing double or triple arrow presses), but also do enough "weeks" worth of content to fill up the Full Ass Game-sized roster the devs said they'd do several time over by now, begin actual multiplayer work and do more fancy/unique mechanics for songs than the actual devs likely would ever do. And fans have even been expanding on a story here and there that goes well beyond the newgrounds-tier original story of "lol boy wants to clap girl's cheeks and rock star dad doesn't want that". And now I'm starting to wonder if that one "joke" tweet years back of Ninjamuffin spending the entirety of the kickstarter money on booze/ect. wasn't actually a joke and all of this has just been stalling/delaying the inevitable once everyone realizes they'd been had the whole time.
Plus the fact that the devs are always just like "Ghost tapping is for wimps well never add it" yet EVERY MOD EVER MADE has Ghost tapping as an option so it's obvious the community WANTS it!
Modding is much easier than buiding an actual game. Not to mention that the best mods out there took 1.5+ years to be made. Not to mention that the devs also made a new engine from scratch, and just by looking at the new chart editor, its looking much better than psych or any other fan engine. No mod today will have the quality of the base game when the update comes lmao
I believe it wasn't intentional for them to leave everyone on read, but the scope of the project development must've proven to be more than they could handle for a small dev team. They're ambitious to a fault. But I do hope this game still crawls its way out of the development hell it's gotten itself into. Especially because while I haven't been too inversed into FNF like I was a few years ago, the community could use some much needed fresh content as I think they're slowly going insane. All they've been doing is Sonic and Mario exe parodies, like SO MANY OF THEM, and not a single other/original character has been seen like it was during the start of FNF popularity.
Devs don't care for commentary channels, he's made vids on them before and they didn't budge. We are most likely getting real close to the update release, and we'll be seeing more stuff soon.
It's really bad that there's people still waiting on their physical rewards. But I'd mostly blame that on the manufacturers if their working with another company that's making them. I've always had this gut feeling that the reason why they haven't showed any game play updates or screenshots of the game is because of modders/tracers making mods of it. But even with that, it would be nice to have consistent updates of the games progress. Even if it's just small bits, it's better than being put on silent mode.
Tbh at this point they should just bite the bullet and release some screenshots, yes people will trace over it but it's better than letting the game become forgotten
Yeah at this point there's so little information about what we can really expect or anything at all they should have the decency to show off even scraps of screenshots.
Yeah, iirc Ninjamuffin did a stream of him making the assets for Week 8 and about a week later there were sprite packs that had essentially the same assets

they recently stated a few things, like the reason they don't show much atm. I think its mainly due to modders tracing/stealing the assets and putting them in other mods

I haven’t played the official game in a while, I've mostly played mods like Hazy River, Cliff Clash, and of course Indie Cross. I think the biggest issue with the FNF crew is that they have never faced a project of this magnitude and fully have no clue how to be responsible adults and managers in this situation. I understand not being able to keep up with weekly updates by yourself, but the least you can do is delegate some of those updates to your other employees to get them out more frequently. As Sully said, one of the most informational updates we got was not from Cam, but from Eric, Cam's "weird coder". I don’t think Cam was anywhere near prepared for a project like this, and I feel as if they need someone better to manage their game. Not that Cam should he ousted completely, but that he should never have been managing all of this in the first place. Please, get someone who actually *knows* what they're doing, and learn from them. At least don’t leave your fans in the dark for this long, guys. We are the ones who gave you your money and popularity. The least you can do is tell us how things are going, and give us realistic expectations, not tell us posters should be shipping in a month when they haven’t even passed development yet. Please, for the sake of everyone here, get it together and be responsible adults and game devs. You promised updates, so we expect *real* updates.
updates post be like "Ight imma give yall a snippet of game progress.... *proceeds to yap about everything that happened from 2021 to 2024 except the game*
Im pretty sure the reason we dont get any showcase is that it gets traced and gets modded, devs doesnt like that and they dont give anything at all anymore, and now people are complaining
THANK YOU!! I'm sick of people ignoring this fact because it is the reason we ain't getting any updates anymore. Like it puts pressure on the FNF devs to make the actual game better than the recreation, which some people make pretty accurate to what they originally planned. So instead of trying to go against that they just keep silent and cook in peace so that way people don't have any expectation of what the game is gonna have or be like.
I feel like, with every month/semester/year, The Walten Files' tweet about development hell becomes more and more valid. Like, I'm not asking the game to be finished quick. But no updates to the base game, the fact it's still Newgrounds exclusive, etc. People will vindicate posts that were satirized and mocked.
Just a heads-up, my Kickstarter comment at 8:19 was in reference to NinjaMuffin99's questionable social media conduct at the time, not the lack of Kickstarter updates lmao. I find “update” posts like that from devs insanely irresponsible. Even if you are in touch with your community or whatever, you should still retain a sense of professionalism when posting official news updates.
At this point FNF is a game made by the fans and not the actual devs behind FNF because any relevance this game still has today is 110% because of its community and what's even better is that we don't need to sink thousands or even millions of real life money for any FNF mod that gets released. I agree with that sentiment. They haven't been doing *nothing*, game development leaks clearly show progress is being made (The week 8 cutscene, darnell sprites, pico dancing lol), but not giving updates to the people who funded you is very unprofessional. I feel like part of this is because of the community though. In my experience FNF fans have a bad habit of recreating sprites frame-by-frame 2 seconds after they're released, but even still, it's simply no excuse
I remember backing the T-shirt tier with the CD add on. Hearing how you got the CD and there being no updates on anything has been really sad and frustrating. I wonder when I will get the CD then, hope they deliver regardless.
at the same time OMORI’s dev team were almost just as uncommunicative with their progress, so from the perspective of a backer waiting for the game, it makes no difference whether they were working on the game or not. That’s not to say OMORI was bad by any means, its one of my personal favorite games and I think the developers put a lot of effort into it. However it cannot be denied that they fucked up big time with the development communication, and this is something that I believe the FNF developers are facing as well
I think it'd help massively if they just apolagise and admit that they've overextended themselves. That still wouldn't make what they did good, but that would at least ease people's minds a little bit.
or maybe you shouldnt expect them to make that big of a game in less than 3 years, you mfs are putting pressure on them by being pissed about it taking long, like did yall never wait for omori to come out? Its not that they put a high expectation on themselves, its that yall complaining are putting an high expectation on them to make a game super fast, and update us. They dont have to give us weekly blogs about the game at all, they have no obligation to. And if youd look at the blog yourself youd see that this guy is just blowing everything out of proportion, yes sometimes they bullshit about the game, but the claim that there is little about the games development is comepletly false. The newest blog post from 3/12 is almost all about the development about the chart editor. This youtuber is like all the other people complaining, hes just all salty about the game not coming out when he wants, and he is exageratting these claims. The only thing that is actually bad is the excessive halts on the shipping of the kickstarter items, yet you shouldnt expect game devs to be good manufacturers and shippers.

@@royearle1673 yes, i understand that but your making it out like they arent saying anything at all, what you are demanding from them is a constant reassurance that the game is being made, there is a montly progress report because it basically is montly, they post some around every month and maybe a couple days more. their latest hiatus from when it took them 3 months to post an update is when they started working on charting, the one that was posted at 2/23 after those 3 long months, talked about them working on the charting, and one of the parts of it was frustration, because its a bit of a challenge for them to make a custom song charter, you shouldnt get mad at them for taking a break on making you guys feel better about the game being made, because they took a minute to actually work on the game, they said the charting was one of the most important steps, so they are allowed to take that 3 month hiatus and you shouldnt be mad about it. Plus you literally get what you get no complaints, because there wasnt even supposed to be updates about it available to the public, the updates were supposed to be exclusive to the backers only, so asking for all these new blog posts is a little spoiled because your lucky you even get any.

people are saying "this video aged bad" but this video was already moldy by the time this video came out. people were already getting their posters and shirts by the time this video came out.
The last time they showed a sneak peek of their game, fans took the sneak peek and turned it into a fanmade week within days. THAT is why they stopped showing sneak peeks, the community itself ruined any chances of it. My boyfriend and I both financially supported the kickstarter and we are happily waiting. When we saw just how desperate the community was for more content that they were willing to turn whatever we had of the game into a new fanmade week, I knew they were going to cut back HARD on showing off the game itself. The community should not be surprised that they get so little now in terms of updates, and that whenever there is an update it's just an art still here and there, or non-game updates such as chart editors or excel sheets showing off people who have been paid so far for their work.
One thing to note as well that the dude who wrote the chart editor blog post mentioned is that there are full on NDAs involved, meaning that a vast majority of what's being worked on, the team legally cannot share or make mention of lol.
I get not showing sneek peaks with this community, but atleast tell us some stuff like "The devloppement is going well!" instead of random stuff and venting lol
That still doesn’t excuse the fact that the people who backed it still haven’t gotten most of what they payed for. Also, at the very least the team could say something like “development is goin well” or “don’t worry we’re still workin on the game” or even “stop bothering us and we’ll work on the game”. This game better be the best thing anyones ever played if they’re gonna justify this train wreck
There are plenty of ways they could do that without getting a fanmade week that will be accurate to the real thing. For example they could show a glimpse of a new character, or show a background with no song. Not much but it's still teasers and at least some validation they're still working. And as for songs they could post short clips rather than the full songs. That way any fan made week won't actually by like the one that releases. No one is saying they have to show all the new characters and their full songs. Just glimpses and teasers
Man, I recently made a Kickstarter account to support Rivals 2 and the contrast in openness and just how everything is handled is crazy. The Rivals of Aether team have done an amazing job so far.
Geometry dash is different. it’s not like it was being worked on for 7 whole years and it actually added stuff. FNF took 6 months for everything yet now we can’t get a single update of anything for 2 going on 3 years.
@@fattyflabs4323 i honestly know nothing about geometry dash. I honestly think that the game is pretty horrible and hard. so I kinda just said that because well there’s like no way you can actually justify the fact that’s it’s been 3 years and nothing has been added and I just like to argue with people. also from what I know geometry dash didn’t promise people physically products that they never got. Also yes I’ll admit I’m wrong, I’m a horrible person not a heathen.
but then again, it’s a weird situation that there was even so much fan content to begin with considering the game wasn’t even out yet, so we can’t expect the creators to bring us constant updates like a Fortnite season
I might eat my words hard in the future, but I think we might be a little harsh towards the team. As a team who never really had experience working on something as big (or more specifically- hyped and anticipated) before, it makes sense why they'd struggle keeping things orderly for kickstarter backers and updates. Im not saying its a good thing, but I dont think the guys are being malicious, and I dont think its fair to compare them to the mod community. The mod community is huge and filled with extremely passionate people. Some who might even have more experience in certain regards than the main FNF team, we dont know everyones history or what they do behind closed doors, nor do we need to. The FNF team is trying to keep us updated, trying to give out the rewards, and trying to finish the game. It might be slow, it might be a rough process, but I dont think we're being fair to the team.
My friend actually has helped with the game specifically with a soundtrack and a bunch of art. Very proud of him as it's well deserved as he’s super talented. For him it took a while to finish stuff but he did and so thats really all I know. I know that FNF isn't doing great with updates and what not but I can say I am at least really happy for my friend as its been a pretty great experience for him. Im gonna literally play it just because he’s gonna be in it lol.
At least team cherry is professional and has actually posted trailers. Based on how ninja muffin acts, he seems really complainy and unprofessional which doesn’t really seem like a good working habit. At least silksong isn’t backed by a kickstarter, meaning there isn’t anybody being lied to or screwed over.
I kind of knew when I gave them money that they were going to take a very long time to make this game. I don't think they quite realized how much random business stuff you have to do to make a game like this. Through it all, though, I still think that the game will come out in 1 or two years. Maybe 3. Making games takes a long time. My biggest complaint is just the lack of updates. Makes me feel like they just took the money and left. I don't think they did, but that's how it feels when they aren't doing what they said that they would.
I mean the moment they gave the community the chance to mod the game and do their own stuff, the game kinda got killed since they would have to add something original that isn't based on a mod made by a fan.
I really hope this ends up like another OMOCAT situation where we get little to no updates about the game for years but end up getting an amazing game at the end.

2 things they need to do:
1 - Make the update blogs MONTHLY if they can't be bothered to keep us in the loop weekly (especially with the useless venting that no one asked for).
2 - Be more honest about some of the production. Specifically instead of just continuously saying 'the T-shirts will be here soon' over and over again, just be honest and explain WHY the T-shirts have been delayed a lot.

@@TheMarioBBB I mean, the way the blog site is structured, even i could throw it together in a couple hours and i haven't touched HTML in years.
Oh my god. I'm convinced the devs saw this video and said "Nuh uh" 😭
i SWEAR, they saw this and they were like : "oh f-ck we cant be lazy sh-t"
Well I guess they had enough of staying silent

love your non-otamatone content so much man, certain channels are like eating junk food (in a good way) and just absolutely hit the spot, and yours is one of them
Honestly, the most damning thing about the entire full game situation is that in the time between Week 7 or so and now, fans managed to not only do a new engine that vastly improves the OG one (aka not janky as hell/doesn't implode doing double or triple arrow presses), but also do enough "weeks" worth of content to fill up the Full Ass Game-sized roster the devs said they'd do several time over by now, begin actual multiplayer work and do more fancy/unique mechanics for songs than the actual devs likely would ever do. And fans have even been expanding on a story here and there that goes well beyond the newgrounds-tier original story of "lol boy wants to clap girl's cheeks and rock star dad doesn't want that".
And now I'm starting to wonder if that one "joke" tweet years back of Ninjamuffin spending the entirety of the kickstarter money on booze/ect. wasn't actually a joke and all of this has just been stalling/delaying the inevitable once everyone realizes they'd been had the whole time.
for real, mods like marios madness, indie cross, trollge files, etc are 100x better than base fnf.
Plus the fact that the devs are always just like "Ghost tapping is for wimps well never add it" yet EVERY MOD EVER MADE has Ghost tapping as an option so it's obvious the community WANTS it!
@@PhoenixFox5577 As someone who hasn't been following FNF in the slightest for years, what is ghost tapping?
Modding is much easier than buiding an actual game. Not to mention that the best mods out there took 1.5+ years to be made.
There are plenty of original character mods they just dont get nearly as popular.

But even with that, it would be nice to have consistent updates of the games progress. Even if it's just small bits, it's better than being put on silent mode.

At least don’t leave your fans in the dark for this long, guys. We are the ones who gave you your money and popularity. The only thing that is actually bad is the excessive halts on the shipping of the kickstarter items, yet you shouldnt expect game devs to be good manufacturers and shippers.
@@joshuabarqueesimeth4530 correct, it's wrong of People to demand a game be made in such a short amount of time. But when your kickstarter made a total of two million dollars, at least some updates on what's happening would be appreciated. That way, the backers know their money is being spent well and that the developers didn't Just take the money and ran.
Even if said update is just some minor things, a monthly progress report would suffice.
Again, I agree it's unreasonable to demand a game be made in 3 years by indie devs, that's absurd. But with 2 million bucks riding on this, some sort of communication would be nice.
Edit: I'm not one of the People who backed it anyway so I'm not sure what the hell you mean with "you mfs".
Plus you literally get what you get no complaints, because there wasnt even supposed to be updates about it available to the public, the updates were supposed to be exclusive to the backers only, so asking for all these new blog posts is a little spoiled because your lucky you even get any.
not a fnf nerd at all but moreso an objective outsider and seeing people go “wahhh the mods do more for the game than the actual devs” or whatever is so… disheartening? and i cant imagine how that feels for the actual devs of the game itself.
Can you imagine how if feels to spend money and not getting what you were promised. Imagine supporting a game that is honestly dead
@@BEM-production_snot getting what you were promised? They were promised the game and the backer rewards. The Kickstarter rewards have been sent to backers, and the game is being worked on.
@@fattyflabs4323 bro didn’t watch the video
@@BEM-production_sMy previous comment got deleted for some reason so I'll post it again. The video is terrible and incredibly misleading. We've gotten many updates just not many blog posts.

-Talk about stuff not even related to the game
-Almost zero content known after 3 years, other than a new chart system.

-Blog posts actually related to game progress even introducing new characters.

@@ChaoticFrenziedStarTHEY SPENT IT ON CRACK FOR ARTISTIC REASONS🗣️🗣️🗣️
With all due respect wasn't the sneak peak a bunch of tankman shit
well, it seems the crack ran out. CUZ THEY DID SOME WORKKKKKKK WOOOOO
Man, I recently made a Kickstarter account to support Rivals 2 and the contrast in openness and just how everything is handled is crazy. The Rivals of Aether team have done an amazing job so far.
my point is, if Geometry Dash 2.2 had taken 7 years to make, then i'll allow FNF to take 7 years aswell.
7 years does seem like the length it will take lol
Geometry dash is different. it’s not like it was being worked on for 7 whole years and it actually added stuff. FNF took 6 months for everything yet now we can’t get a single update of anything for 2 going on 3 years.
Actually I probably shouldn’t have said that, I know absolutely nothing about geometry dash, these were honestly assumptions and the wiki
@@BEM-production_s "it’s not like it was being worked on for 7 whole years and it actually added stuff." That's actually what happened though.
They recently just created an official account on Twitter

My friend actually has helped with the game specifically with a soundtrack and a bunch of art. Very proud of him as it's well deserved as he’s super talented. For him it took a while to finish stuff but he did and so thats really all I know. I know that FNF isn't doing great with updates and what not but I can say I am at least really happy for my friend as its been a pretty great experience for him. Im gonna literally play it just because he’s gonna be in it lol.
well you were right lmao
we got more news
They could just be pulling a team cherry and developing the game with no news
which is pretty much what they've been doing tbh
That is extremely accurate
how do people not understand this
At least team cherry is professional and has actually posted trailers. Based on how ninja muffin acts, he seems really complainy and unprofessional which doesn’t really seem like a good working habit. At least silksong isn’t backed by a kickstarter, meaning there isn’t anybody being lied to or screwed over.

the funny thing is in the fnf intro section with the random texts, they roasted Geometry Dash in one of the texts..

@@battery_aciddone of the completion texts is: “easier than fnf”
4:09 that’s literally how i talk in discord, but hearing it in a full four paragraphs hurts.
I was actually thinking about funding the project back then.
Thank god I did not.
how about now, instead of listening to some random YTuber
