Well, as they say, from rock bottom you can only go up. Good that the fnf team is at least actively working on the game and not just doing nothing, at least.
The main takeaway I have learned from this: don't ever do physical rewards that aren't copies of the games or cd soundtracks for backer rewards unless I'm already familiar with manufacturing
Yea, I randomly received my OST rewards about 6 months ago, but I never received my poster, shirt, or pins. Also, the "Kickstarter exclusive vinyl" has been available on Amazon since 2022. Very dumb
what's worse, they started selling the extra copies they made of that ""Kickstarter Exclusive"" before they had finished shipping out all of the actual Kickstarter's copies, meaning if you ordered when made available rather than on Kickstarter, it would've arrived sooner, and if it was damaged in transit and they had sold out, there would be no way to get a replacement
theres no way the devs have negative comunnication skills by accident i think they procrastinate way too much and/or dont take the project/communication as seriously as they should they should have put the game on steam by now, just the demo they already have, and update it as it goes
@@JorMoxthat’s no excuse for how they’ve been dealing with these issues though, this is coming from a person with ADHD as-well. 1:51 YOOOOO I finally made it into the video lol. By the way my shipping address is 100% correct. The main issue is still a HUGE lack of communication over the years. Had I known the pins weren’t going to be made or even exported to the US for at least 2 to 3 years - I wouldn’t have been as vocal about it. Maybe if they didn’t spend all that time making “cool websites” they don’t update along with a backer portal that doesn’t work properly - this entire situation would’ve been avoided. The game will be well on its way to being done in the year 2030 lol.
I’d say 2028 or 2027, this game is incredibly hard to just mod. Making an entire game on top of a base engine is going to take a while. I do agree they need to stop bullshitting sometimes and stick to giving feedback on their main page
I'd say "The FNF community forgives Sully" but I don't wanna make that call quick considering how ruthless they can be. And this is coming from somebody who is a fan of FNF and also is frequently active in said community.
Man, the more info I get about the kickstarter rewards, the more I’m split between being sad and happy that I didn’t pledge any money. I Funkin love this game and its modding community, but even I am getting pretty mad about their transparency and communication. Like, dang bro..is it that hard to log on to say “we’re still working on your rewards!” at least?
I’m surprised that you didn’t mention how because of the fact that playable characters have expanded to become much more ambitious than they were when they were initially revealed.. phantom Arcade on his livestream revealed that the 5 people who pledged $5000 to have their OC be a playable character will not be getting the same treatment as the other playable characters… (tbh I’m kinda glad you didn’t)
To be fair, what was promised before was that the playable characters would be skins, and with the ways things have changed with development, the playable characters like Pico and such are a wholy new thing. PA did say that those people are still getting some special treatment, and will most likely still get the unique skins (and probably result screens too), so realistically, they're getting exactly what they paid for back in that kickstarter still. Nothing really changed in terms of what they're getting.
@@metalandmagic1424 maybe what they’re doing (might be a bit of a stretch but screw it) is maybe giving the OC’s their own weeks where for only in said weeks will you be playing as those OCs kinda like the Weekends except unlike the the OCs.. pico is playable for all of the weekends and not just the one week
So instead of me thinking, I'll be getting an exclusive t shirt from backing them. I could have just saved my money and got the t shirt without backing them... Got it.. well I never gotten an email about my shirt to pick style and size I might as well buy it out right and count it loss then..
I will say in reaponse to the 2 mill it was probably spent on the people that are guest artists for the game and the team, considering how communication works, Yeah PR manager would've worked if they got one, but instead it is every single person who works on the game playing PR (meaning the accounts for the devs also are active on teasing or talking about stuff sometimes) for not just backers, but the fans who may not have backed the game. So I think since the updates to the Kickstarter have stopped they probably won't update them that often until they finish updating the Demo to the game. I wish the same issues could be addressed soon, but that's probably not gonna happen.
From my knowledge a large amount of info is given from PhantomArcade's dev streams and if I recall correctly I believe it was stated that asset-wise for the main game they're around 50% of the way, and the demo's updates are mostly just to tide the community over while they work behind the scenes on the main game
I got ordered a weekend 1 poster (the one with Darnell and Pico and Nene in the subway) wayyy back in September or October last year? and it's January, I had to pester Needlejuice on twitter about it and I think a lot of it is Needlejuice is very small in fulfilling orders, and the Funkin' team is going through them for bare minimum a lot if not everything, they said they have 2 people packing and shipping orders, so some of it definitely is delays on Needlejuice's part (not to excuse anything but add further context)
We need more channels like you that can be neutral when needed. Twitter accounts like Funkin' Discussion or other channels on UA-cam that just say only positive things and jokes about the FNF Developer Team are cool and all, but they instantly start hating on someone like you when you point out an inconsistency, or even a lie on the FNF Dev teams Kick-Starter. To see a pretty large FNF Twitter account be rude to you just because you pointed out a Kickstarter lie was actually kind of annoying, because you were just trying to see them succeed.
I haven't even gotten my t-shirt survey since last I checked last fall, but this video reminded me I should check in and see if I have anything new Edit: Yep, I've still yet to get my survey for my tier. No art book, no t-shirt survey. The credits attribution and digital copy of the game are of course not out yet.
with the origins of this game adding pico fits very well now we just need Hank J. Wimbleton or tricky the clown & tankman for the og newgrounds experience
I mean, I don't mind having positive updates too. You can talk about FNF however much you want to honestly. Im honestly not that annoyed by lack of communication on the game itself, I grew up with newgrounds so im used to that, but the issues with backer items does suck. That said, it does sound like thats more on needlejuice than the FNF team when it comes to delivery issues. Personally I got my vinyl with zero issue, and I imagine thats the case for a majority of the backers as theres not a massive torrent of comments like that.
I backed this project and it’s the only one I’ve ever backed. I honestly gave up on updates as I had emailed them multiple times and didn’t get a response. I pledged 35 dollars for the enamel pin and digital content.
I was a backer for this. Thanks for the video! Glad I found this! I got my OST combo meal after contacting Needlejuice. Incredibly kind and helpful people, btw! Still nice to see game updates! I'm hoping to see more progress, and it's good to see someone giving coverage!
It’s been awhile so I forget what they sound like, but it could totally be an instrumental of one of the original songs Sully has made on this channel.
All they would have to do is have the devs set aside one hour to write their monthly progress and use chat GPT to write it all down to a coherent update post for the Kickstarter.
While I am disappointed in how god awfully the Kickstarter was treated, I know, just KNOW, this game will 100% be a success. There's no denying it. The community sucks, sure, the treatment of the backers sucks/sucked, sure, but the product they're working on is very clearly made of passion, and we NEED more projects made of passion. One comment that genuinely makes me mad in the KS comments was some guy saying that the modders could've finished the playable Pico faster. Which like, no? The modders wouldn't be able to replicate the charm, get people like fucking LOTUS JUICE on their team, and they wouldn't be able to replicate PhantomArcade's style, Kawaisprite's music, and Evilsk8r's charm on a 100%. I know I'm fanboying right now, but like, come on, let's NOT compare amateurs making content THEY WANT to produce HOWEVER THEY WANT TO PRODUCE, to professionals making a game on a 2mil dollar budget however they want to produce it. Hell, FNF with 60+ weeks, around 1800+ songs (with erects and playable characters), and animated cutscenes will be a LONG game, of course it'll take longer. While the communication needed to be better, OMORI had the same issue, and in the end it was a masterpiece. So will FNF be! Thank you for your criticisms man! Really like the content you produce! EDIT: 11:22 Last time we heard anything about this, PhantomArcade confirmed that for the Vslice specifically, 60% of the art and music is done. And they're just piecing what they've made overtime
@@GoatOfTheMountain No, V-Slice is the demo we keep receiving updates for, Base Game was all the content before Kickstarter Goals were reached, as in this is what is planned to be made first before making the extra weeks added thanks to the kickstarter.
The modders have replicated the charm. You are right that they wouldn't have the same budget. Damn shame. The modders should have jumped the gun and made their own games.
@@jerm70 Mods have their own charm and that's good enough for me. It's personal taste, but I find the base game music way more relaxing and flowable than mod music. I RARELY ever see mods nowadays and think "I wish this was official," I did that mostly in 2021 but sadly a lot of the mods from that era are outdated. So imo mods are a standalone thing, their OWN thing with their own charm, while the game itself is also its own thing with its own charm
I wholeheartedly believe that the only reason the game updated at all is because of your previous vid, so by all means please keep the fire under their @sses
as someone who has put an ungodly amount of time into FNF, has essentially mastered the game and listening to the eoundtrack non-stop, i gotta say you've been totally on the mark with all your videos. i love FNF, and i never backed the kickstarter so im not losing out, but people who did are being treated unfairly and deserve better treatment
i want to clarify something since i saw it mentioned: the fnf devs also have a bluesky account, in which they've been more active than on their twitter (you're morally allowed to deadname twitter) edit, since i thought i should clarify: yeah they absolutely do shitpost but it's the funny kind of shitposting
I still don't understand why the team won't just release the base game which is APPARENTLY done and then release the kickstarter added weeks over time. It makes absolutely no sense.
@@witherslayer-7315 Phantom arcade has gone on record and said 60% of the full game is done. Well some comments said "base game" which I doubt because that's AWFUL productivity in that case ,what the hell have they been doing if that's true. If he did say full game as MOST of the comments say he did, then that's more content than the original base game would have taken up as the stretch goals more than doubled the size of the game.
@absolutezerochill2700 The base game statement is the correct one. But I think you're extremely incorrect in saying that it's bad productivity, even when looking at other games....Like extremely, knowing how complex game development actually Is Especially since we don't have an exact idea of just how much content Base game is actually meant to have when compared to the full game. What we do know about the development of base game is that even though that 60% amount of content is finished, it is a different story actually Implemting that content into the game, hence why PA has decided to release all of that content in parts instead of all at once.
@witherslayer-7315 I'm sorry, but it's been nearly 4 years and 2.2 million dollars. To have the content of ~12 weeks done out of 45 is just awful. At this rate the game will literally come out in the 2030s. Yeah, game development is hard, but it's a lot less hard with a 2d game with no environments beyond 2 backgrounds per week or gameplay beyond "press button at this time." Which is obviously made worse in comparison to the modding community. Maybe I have a skewed perspectives because one of my favorite games of all time, which was 3d in an open world that has more content than the full FNF game will, came out in 18 months.
@absolutezerochill2700 I think you may have a misunderstanding of what the content is? Base game is not only supposed to have "2 backgrounds per week"?? All future weeks and weekends are meant to have an animated story of the same quality as weekend 1 (and PA said that only the full have will have this for the old weeks) which quite literally requires environments and a lot of time to animate (saying this as a animator myself) It did not take them 4 years to make Weekend 1. It was finished and supposed to come out 2 years ago, but only got delayed due to leaks and the devs deciding it would be better to make more content that they could release on a schedule instead (which is what they are doing right now.) Base game is also meant to have many more playable characters, which, again, is a LOT of work. 60% could be a whole ass movie for all we know. The statement Is vague enough that it's pretty unreasonable to assume they haven't been productive since there's simply no way to actually know exactly how much they have been doing. Even with mods, the vast majority of really high quality and huge ones take 2+ years to make, to the point where you have many people who know nothing about the development complaining about how long the mod is taking to come out (although it's a lot less acceptable of people to act this way towards modders since they will usually be playing it for free and they don't have millions, but I digress. ) That's why it's probably best to actually wait until the devs release the all of content they have been making over the past 4 years and THEN judge if it's bad productivity, since according to them, they have a lot more content that needs to be polished and implemented into the game as future updates.
I feel like overall the Funkin' Team is definitely doing better than they were. I actually was a bit disappointed with the Pico update. Not because of the content but because of the lack there of. For years and years it was nothing but silence and barely any communication. Meanwhile when you looked at any of the Twitter accounts, they were going from event to event, traveling all over the place, and it looked like the money was not being spent towards the game we funded. And when the update finally came out, I actually have a video where I literally couldn't play the new week. The game was so riddled with bugs that the game would consistently crash all the time. And when I got it to work, it just caused more issues later on. First impressions was terrible.

@smartpug967 Also, it's literally $20 cheaper than the reward tier
Same here…maybe I need to contact them?
@@starpumpkinxo I've tried a few different ways, no replies :/
@@epicyes3096 darn well hopefully both of our stuff comes in soon? I wasted part of my money for that 🥲
theres no way the devs have negative comunnication skills by accident
i think they procrastinate way too much and/or dont take the project/communication as seriously as they should
they should have put the game on steam by now, just the demo they already have, and update it as it goes
I think there’s a lack of internal communication amongst the dev team
i mean, people are people. as a goober with adhd myself, i can confirm that i procrastinate to hell and back
@@JorMoxthat’s no excuse for how they’ve been dealing with these issues though, this is coming from a person with ADHD as-well. It was their decision to start the kickstarter and if they weren’t prepared to handle a task so big they shouldn’t have asked for peoples money, still good that they’ve addressed some stuff though.
Yep I can back up what you've said from previous reputable experiences myself! They also never wanted to adress the officially announced (in 2021) KickStarter exclusive Girlfriend shirt design which you can easily find online and the source Twitter post for, of which never released and literally everyone seems to skip over for some reason.. which is odd. I'm just saying these guys have plainly made eyebrow raising decisions which the community can only beat by [fairly] chastising/criticizing 'em for their nonsense. Remember you have a voice and a right to complain.
@@ZillaYT. i mean, they probably weren't expecting to get so much money, let alone cross their intial goal in under an HOUR. but yeah, your point stoll does stand (not that i'm the most credible anyways lol)
Sully you need to start uploading more fnf cause every time you do it updates 😭
I'd say "The FNF community forgives Sully" but I don't wanna make that call quick considering how ruthless they can be.
And this is coming from somebody who is a fan of FNF and also is frequently active in said community.
Nah we are not mad with him 😊
@@ursapolargalacticayou not being mad won’t stop the mob that’s out for blood 🗿
I recently got my physical OST pack in the mail, so now I’m just waiting for the full game to release. No complaints from me!
We gonna get 10 playable characters
The devs are so funked 💀
Well, was it ever promised those characters would have their own remixes?
@@squiddu i guess they Will have some remixes Just like pico has, but not for all songs
Sully please keep doing this yearly update video. I backed the game and keep forgetting about it
Lmao mood I just did the name in credits and full game key tier but I still forget about it most of the time ^^’

So instead of me thinking, I'll be getting an exclusive t shirt from backing them. I could have just saved my money and got the t shirt without backing them... Got it.. well I never gotten an email about my shirt to pick style and size I might as well buy it out right and count it loss then..
9:30 "Hey, my son is still looking for his shirt and his game, what's going on" 💀💀💀💀
11:30 phantom arcade said about 60% of the full game was done on stream like a year ago. It sucks not much else has been spoken about.
then why doesn't he just release the base game and have the added kickstarter weeks stream out
I just realized because of this video I still haven't gotten my cd, vinyl and cassette
AND MY PIN
When the game will release, I'd like to see you cover the full "journey" behind it from the beginning!
Even if basegame is slow progress, at least the community has brought us the peak that is Garn47.
From my knowledge a large amount of info is given from PhantomArcade's dev streams and if I recall correctly I believe it was stated that asset-wise for the main game they're around 50% of the way, and the demo's updates are mostly just to tide the community over while they work behind the scenes on the main game
oh, sully posted, get ready for the fnf update !!!!
I got ordered a weekend 1 poster (the one with Darnell and Pico and Nene in the subway) wayyy back in September or October last year? and it's January, I had to pester Needlejuice on twitter about it and I think a lot of it is Needlejuice is very small in fulfilling orders, and the Funkin' team is going through them for bare minimum a lot if not everything, they said they have 2 people packing and shipping orders, so some of it definitely is delays on Needlejuice's part (not to excuse anything but add further context)
theres constant shipping delays even with public orders, it's just less talked about because it's not covered in videos like these.
Was waiting for this since last year
the full game (without extra DLC) is about 60% done btw.
Awesome that this video was my notification that I should've got my shirt, pin and poster by now 💀
I love how you play as Pico in the weekend, he's my favorite out of the characters in the game.
I haven't even gotten my t-shirt survey since last I checked last fall, but this video reminded me I should check in and see if I have anything new
Edit: Yep, I've still yet to get my survey for my tier. No art book, no t-shirt survey. The credits attribution and digital copy of the game are of course not out yet.
Its always gonna be an amazing day when sully posts tbh (youre great man)
Don't drop your fight because in angry community of children called you names. Stand your ground, you're doing a good thing
with the origins of this game adding pico fits very well now we just need Hank J. Wimbleton or tricky the clown & tankman for the og newgrounds experience
Don't let the update make you forget what happened, even if the update is good, they need to do better
I'm hoping to see more progress, and it's good to see someone giving coverage!
im so tboi rotted i thought that was lazy mattman in your background😭
2:35 I got a ad right here 😂
Me too 😭
what's the song you use in the outro? I think that's a original but still i haven't heard more than a 20 second snippet of it
It’s been awhile so I forget what they sound like, but it could totally be an instrumental of one of the original songs Sully has made on this channel.
It was originally the song he wrote for when he was sponsored by Atlas VPN. Since then the instrumental has become his outro theme.
I'm still salty about how long they took to add a damn offset setting to the game LOL
Curious about something. What are your opinions on FNF content creators?
I’m asking this as an FNF content creator.
I got my Friday night funkin makeship plushies and they’re great :)
God forbid this man becomes a Hollow Knight/Silk Song fan
They really need a PR manager or atleast communicate better because damn they are kinda bad at this
All they would have to do is have the devs set aside one hour to write their monthly progress and use chat GPT to write it all down to a coherent update post for the Kickstarter.
Tony Zaret made a gr8 vid on this too
Can we have a update on the bot cave??
I've always enjoyed seeing one of these for the past few years
Finally! Thanks for making this!
the apology video intro was wild 😂
Base Game not V-Slice, Base Game is all content planned before kickstarter goals were reached.
@monkeyb0is4276 Aren't they the same thing?
Both are meant to be content pre-full game's release
So imo mods are a standalone thing, their OWN thing with their own charm, while the game itself is also its own thing with its own charm
been waiting for this video for days maybe weeks now
Im still waiting for It 😔
I wholeheartedly believe that the only reason the game updated at all is because of your previous vid, so by all means please keep the fire under their @sses
I'm glad you're taking accountability lol (btw you're great I'm not mad I just thought it was funny)
I honestly forgot about this game and thought it was just never gonna happen this is cool to see lol
Finally he makes a video about it
as someone who has put an ungodly amount of time into FNF, has essentially mastered the game and listening to the eoundtrack non-stop, i gotta say you've been totally on the mark with all your videos. i love FNF, and i never backed the kickstarter so im not losing out, but people who did are being treated unfairly and deserve better treatment
The title should be what happened to my animatronics
I got the vinyl sometime last year. I completely forgot this game existed. It's probably the most disappointing kickstater I backed since Mighty No.9
Who else is still waiting on their pins?
the fact the weakend 1 was posted in Tom Fulp Birthday
i want to clarify something since i saw it mentioned: the fnf devs also have a bluesky account, in which they've been more active than on their twitter (you're morally allowed to deadname twitter)
edit, since i thought i should clarify: yeah they absolutely do shitpost but it's the funny kind of shitposting
0:56 WHAT MODE

Its 2025 bro 💔
Nice to hear the team is doing the shit they promised, albeit extremely slowly
I still don't understand why the team won't just release the base game which is APPARENTLY done and then release the kickstarter added weeks over time.
It makes absolutely no sense.
They never said the base game is done, btw.
But I think you're extremely incorrect in saying that it's bad productivity, even when looking at other games....Like extremely, knowing how complex game development actually
Is
Especially since we don't have an exact idea of just how much content Base game is actually meant to have when compared to the full game.
All future weeks and weekends are meant to have an animated story of the same quality as weekend 1 (and PA said that only the full have will have this for the old weeks) which quite literally requires environments and a lot of time to animate (saying this as a animator myself)
It did not take them 4 years to make Weekend 1.
Even with mods, the vast majority of really high quality and huge ones take 2+ years to make, to the point where you have many people who know nothing about the development complaining about how long the mod is taking to come out (although it's a lot less acceptable of people to act this way towards modders since they will usually be playing it for free and they don't have millions, but I digress. )
That's why it's probably best to actually wait until the devs release the all of content they have been making over the past 4 years and THEN judge if it's bad productivity, since according to them, they have a lot more content that needs to be polished and implemented into the game as future updates.
Let me see what the creator of FNF is up to- apparently his main priority is starting a blunt rotation. We're doomed-
YAY YOU DID

They finally figured out what to do with their money, instead of buying it on drugs 💀
