i just got the 2019 Honda Pilot for a steal and its the best car ive ever driven the cool features look great like lane assit, i freaked out when it moved my wheel, i thought the car was broken. i come from a 2007 car with alignment issues im grateful this suv has apple car play and a heated steering wheel
Thank you very much for the review. Like you I'm interested in the LX because of the lack of unnecessary (to me) fancy features and I also prefer manual HVAC controls. You review is detailed and informative. Question - you do have the option of turning off those auto-sensing controls (lane keep assist, auto cruise, etc), correct?
When you open the rear tail gate on the LX, does the vehicle have to be off and you have to press the key fob button to u lock it? Trying to determine if this is normal or a malfunction. The tailgate cannot be opened when the vehicle is on and you must use the fob to unlock the tailgate in order for it to open.
Thanks for posting this, it was very helpful. It is a bit annoying when all of the mainstream auto reviewers review essentially the same vehicle, usually the top of the line Elite. This was very eye-opening regarding some of the minor details Honda omits on the base model (like a temperature readout, or the mirror for the back of the cabin - I got a chuckle out of that!). It would be great if you could do the same kind of review on the EX (non-L version) AWD Pilot. Thanks again.
Great video, the average joe is looking for good reliable transportation sans all the electronic doodads which only serves to inflate The price of the vehicle. The LX will transport you from point A to B just as good as their TOTL ELITE model but, for a modest price!
Good video on a base model that is usually not reviewed. I bought a 2016 Pilot Touring for my wife 3 years ago and I am completely satisfied with it after 25K miles. Either I'm lucky or it's negative "groupthink" that is responsible for bad reviews on the 9 speed trans and the pushbutton shifter. Both are excellent in my opinion. The only thing about your review that is misleading is that someone can purchase an LX with AWD for $29k. The MSRP with destination fee is $34,395 before taxes. The only way Honda is discounting $5400 on a 2019 no-mileage LX is if they made up for it on your CRV trade-in.
Hi Rick J, I am glad you enjoy the pilot. With 25,000 miles have you ever had to have the carbon buildup removed from the intake valves? Thank you for your time and take care.
I haven't had any problems with my Pilot but I will be on the lookout for the carbon buildup that you mentioned. It's my wife's vehicle but I drive it occasionally and I nail the throttle sometimes, so maybe that "blows out the carbon". The specs show a 1/4 mile time of 14.7 seconds. Through the years I have owned muscle cars (GTO, Vette, Z-28) and the Pilot would give them a good run.
@@JackofAllMasterofNone I saw $5K discount on Pilots at my local Honda dealership but I assumed that was for 2018 Touring and Elite. You got a great deal on a new 2019 LX
It will stop you completely yes. It doesn't like doing that though and will tell you to brake, etc. but I have had it stop me in city traffic trying it out. Worked on the Pilot and our old 2017 CRV
Sold my 2008 CRV and upgraded to 2019 Pilot LX just a few days ago. Got mine for $27k with all additional fees it came out to be exactly $29k. Not bad. I’m loving it.
Macky Mac yes. My husband called about 3 dealerships and negotiated over the phone explaining that we were interested in purchasing the Pilot LX in white. It’s best to do this so you don’t waist their time nor yours. Surly enough one came back and said $the best he can do is 30,100 walk out price. Another came back said 29,415 then a guy in the same office came back and said 29,300 and my husband said leave it at 29k even and we will go by today and purchase it. They came back and said yes. This took approximately about 3 days. Showing that we’re interested in the Pilot but we’re not desperate. Also Sept-Dec are the best months to purchase because they’re bring in new inventory so they need to get them 2019 cars out ASAP.
Love the LX. I don't want to have to go thru the stereo screen for every little thing, and I don't want 22" wheels. The 18's still have some sidewall to absorb potholes and bumps. I wish they would offer a moonroof alacarte though, for say, $7-800-.
When we bought it, with the incentives Honda had at the time, it was just the price. No negotiating needed. Often with Honda's when buying an almost new, used vehicle the new ones are actually a better price. Obviously if you get one that is more than a few years old with a little more mileage, then you can save some money. They really hold their value though.
Thank you for this review I learned some things for my pilot only thing I’m curious about is I have the same model as you but I’m curious about the back up camera ... is it suppose to make a beep sound? Mine currently doesn’t previous suv I’ve had do
I love the LX, because I hate the moonroof/sunroof, and also with the EX I'm paying for extra crap I don't use or need The only thing I don't like about the LX is the round knock-outs for the fog lights that you don't need anyway, as The projectors wash them out, (I took a EX for a test drive with fog lights) but it makes it really look like I cheaped out, Honda has a set for $400.00, I don't think so I'm looking for a aftermarket set, just to have some lights in there, I really hate the look of those knock-outs What I'm doing to simplify things and to save running wiring and a switch into the passenger compartment, as the EX fog light switch is in the blinker arm I'm just going tap these into the low beam wire right above them, so when I turn on the low beams the fog lights will come on, free light switch, lol Thanks for doing a review on a entry level working man's vehicle Great review
Great Review! Except I wish u would have shown the the 3rd row with the seats up. Then it would have been a perfect review! Lol. Anyway, is there decent room back there?
Informative review but your use of the lane keeping assist (with your hands off the steering wheel) does not set a good example for other drivers. This is not intended to be used in this way, as it does not have more features that would make it a safe self-driving mode, such as pedestrian and cyclist avoidance. Thank you for your review but please keep your hands on the steering wheel of this vehicle at all times.
Relax. This was a demonstration of the vehicles capabilities and I clearly stated you have to keep your hands on the wheel or it will start flashing a warning. Additionally, it will stop steering itself and force you to do it.
This SUV makes a horrible noise in (right back wheel) in uneven pavement. Honda says that this is normal. Regret this purchase. Doesn't worth the price.
I agree that the rear suspension sounds kind of harsh in an off-road environment. This was my one complaint after driving it for a while. It's not horrible but it almost sounds like how a worn-out suspension would sound. I'm wondering if aftermarket struts would solve the issue?
Thank you. As you said, most reviews are of the top line models that I don't want. This really helped.

I did the EXACT same trade today. I traded my 2017 CR-V for the Pilot LX (also in White Diamond). I needed a larger tow capacity.
Thanks to your video, I traded in my problematic Dodge for a 2019 Honda Pilot Lx. Everything you need and nothing you don’t want IMO.
I hope you love it. We love our new Pilot
The lx doesn’t have heated side mirrors....
randall bollinger nope 👎🏼
Great review best I have seen. Just bought a 2019 Pilot EX and it’s a great SUV
Very informative. Thank you. I haven't review of the LX until now
Thank you for the video ,
Thank you for making a video on the 2019 Pilot LX. Other videos are mostly doing it on higher trim.
Thank you for watching

Yes. Thanks a lot. Very informative video. My wife just got our LX model today. Which rear view mirror is that?
Traded in my 17 Accord Sport for a 19 2wd lx Pilot in white. Led low beams in the lx model vs last years halogen headlights. Love Hondas!

You got good pricing at $29000, how did you do that? I am looking for a used lx 2019, and can not seem to find a price under $30k. Help.

You could probably order the part from Honda from an EX model

I’ll def look into That thank you so much
How is your pilot so far? No issues? Engine, transmission. and you got it for under $30k?

No. It doesn't have the backup radar sensors.
Great review. Thanks for showing this trim level. How sticky are those cloth seats?
Not sticky
FYI - you cannot add a heated steering wheel to an LX level. You can add to EX or higher. Per Pearson Honda.

I'm old, I don't need doodads. If I get a 2019 Pilot I would want to find an AWD White LX just like yours. (And your price!)
Less stuff to break and become obsolete as well!

If you are a small person its decent. Big people will have cramped leg room.

They are OEM Honda floor mats. Bought them on eBay
Where is the outside temperature gauge on the 2019 LX Honda pilot?
It's doesn't have one
Yeah I found the answer after I had posted. 🤦♀️ but thank you for answering my question. 😁
The Lx is fine it’s just that ugly screen. That’s why I like the Ex more cause it has a bit more features
Can i install fog lights on this pilot ??
Yes. The plastic covers in the bumper where they go can be removed. As far as wiring goes, im not sure what all is involved
Thank you
