It’s too bad the Temple of Doom set got cancelled, it looked pretty cool. Hope we do get more sets soon, and hopefully get this cancelled set released someday.

The fact that both the Lego and Hasbro cancelled product was Mola Ram tells me it's not just a coincidence. I agree that Disney likely got cold feet too late, which is why we have seen leaks for both the figure and the set.
I disagree with Lego retaliating by not continuing Indiana Jones. Lego Star Wars makes too much money for Lego to play games with Disney in my opinion. I also think thats why Lego isn't giving a reason, they don't want to throw Disney under the bus.
I really hope a factory stolen Mola Ram figure/ lego set gets leaked one day, I'd love to see both in HD
I believe the only remaining copies of the set could only have been acquired by higher ups. And if anyone does have one they could be in a lot of trouble, hence why it hasn't been shown off.
I heard a few of the Indy voodoo dolls pieces were sold on eBay by a Czech factory worker. Only allegedly though.
@@youwerethere I saw that too, along with a couple of misprints of the same piece. It used the microfig mold. Not sure if it was ever validated
Hoping for a Shanghai Chase remake if they gonna cancel 77014 as one of the ToD set.
(Edit: The inclusion of Short Round's car and Lao Che's car and maybe some side builds. Also gives us new figures which would be Lao Che and Kao Kan)

I don't think I'm the only one whose opinion of Disney would skyrocket if they released anything Temple of Doom related. That would be the first thing they've done in a long looooong time that shows that they care about and respect the properties they've mindlessly consumed. Too bad they're not smart enough to see that.

I could see, Lego doing a small set based on the trek to the Palace from TOD, with Indy, Short Round, and a Willie Scott. Now that I think about it, given that they did minifig packs for Star Wars they just might do it with Indiana Jones, and I could see them putting the versions of Indy, Short Round, and Willie from the set into one of them.
If I’m being honest they could just make it an online exclusive or Lego store exclusive to avoid backlash and avoid protective parents saying it’s too inappropriate

LEGO is a modern wimp company. I'm gonna harken back to when they changed Jabba's palace because people complained about it supporting slavery. like the temple of doom, it's jabba the hutt, who is a criminal in the movie.

Sad, I feel as if the sets sold well. On Amazon, where they tell you how many sets sold recently, Lego Indiana Jones was on par with a lot of the Star Wars sets.
It's crazy that the '08-'09 LIJ run did so much, and that was (holy crap) 17 years ago. I mean, you had all sorts of "German" (you know what I mean) sets, Russian sets, and then the chinese/Indian sets, and all very authentically made, at least in accordance with the movies.
Man I wish I wasn't such a dumb kid, I'd have kept my sets in one piece.
I had to recently reassemble my own sets like the Venice chase and Temple of Doom. If Disney hadn't put in these restrictions I'm sure the line would be thriving. I still have a little hope, but it's all up to Lego and Disney to work it out.
Same here. I still have Race for the Stolen Treasure in one piece, I found an unopened Cairo Ambush set at Comic-con for a steep price, and I guess if I cared to look, I could reassemble my other sets, but I have too much to deal with already. Maybe in the future.
@HenryWaltonStudios knowing how things are these days, and how Disney is treating older properties, I definitely wouldn't hold my breath.

I wish we could've gotten the Temple of Doom set. So Nazi villains are ok but an Indian cult isn't? As a result of people being potentially offended over a Lego set, we've lost a potentially amazing theme.
I was planning on collecting all the new Indiana jones sets since I missed out on the old sets, but now I may just get all the originals and the one remaining new set I don't have. And if this is true and Disney can't figure it out then lego should just reboot adventures and call it a day.
Don't get me wrong I love the old sets but the three remakes are vastly superior to the originals. I'd still pick them up, also they will be cheaper lol

@HenritheHorse that's an absolutely ridiculous statement. Literally 2/3 of the remakes have the same amount of stickers as the original (lost tomb and golden idol). The only reason the plane chase has more is because the old model was straight up studs and no smooth plates lmao. If you're gonna stay stuff negative at least don't lie
@@thegreatpiginthesky3904listen, the remakes are exactly that- just remakes. I thought about picking up the lost idol since I had the original as a kid but it's mostly only because of that reason. The original line of sets was so much more varied, a lot of play features really felt Adventures-esque, and the minifigs (especially indy) are just so much more soulful imo. Don't get me wrong though, the three sets we did get look great.
@knexplayer well yeah there is less to cover now because a lot of the stuff was done. I also think lego was afraid to do a full theme so they just decided to do the most iconic scenes. I will agree with you on the new indy only in regards to the face print, everything else is better on the new one especially the hat.
I’m still fairly sad we won’t get those great figures from temple of doom. They still have a fair amount of content they can do. I especially really want Dial of Destiny stuff. It just feels weird to have 5 Indiana Jones films with 4 actually getting Lego sets.

@@NCC1371 it was alright. I have a lot of complaints but I would like minifigures or sets from it. Nothing too extreme, just something to at least give Lego stuff for all 5 films. In fact, I wouldn’t mind a Lego Indiana Jones 3 game with the 5 films. Maybe not to the scale of the Skywalker saga, but just a new Lego Indiana Jones game

ToD has always been considered culturally insensitive, it's definitely not a "now" thing. I love that movie, but the way it appropriates real life terms and concepts and turns them into somewhat racist caricatures is something.
I personally can’t speak for the Indian community but as a German I always find the „portraying someone of a certain heritage as evil also attacks the whole culture / country“ viewpoint absolutely misguided.
In the movie, not the villagers, but specifically the cult is portrayed as evil, like N4z1s are in the other movies and have been in real history. They never represent the country or people as a whole and everyone with a brain can make the distinction. That’s why I don’t feel attacked in the slightest when German soldiers or villains are shown in movies.
PS: Regarding the „it’s because of all the whiney snowflakes“ comments, I almost never see someone defending Disney‘s decisions here. No need to chase ghosts, Disney „solving issues“ where weren’t any to begin with is the problem.

I usually think the whole “woke” outrage is generally overblown, but honestly I can’t see any other reason why Disney would prohibit Thugees/Cairo swordsmen than because they’re scared of “cultural insensitivity”, which is obvious nonsense. Sure Temple of Doom isn’t the most culturally sensitive film but it’s not like the set came with the dining room and “chilled a’monkey brainzzz…” or any child slave figures… I guess this is what they call “performative wokeism” that all the companies are into these days.
I was glad that you seem pissed that they didn’t tell LEGO not to make the set in advance, which is what the real issue is, instead of just ripping on Disney for finding TOD racist (which is what so many “nerds” on the internet would do). If LEGO is ending the theme out of defiance, it’s because of Disney wasting their money and not because they hate cancel culture or whatever. Still hoping we get more sets at some point in 2023, it was crappy of Disney not to tell them in advance not to make the set but a boycott isn’t gonna change their mind unless they stop making Disney sets in general.

LEGO et al,are contractually obligated to follow the demands of the owners of the IP. LEGO is not going to risk losing their rights to sell and market Star Wars, Disney, Marvel, etc. so if a Disney says we don’t want to promote scenes or characters from a movie featuring child slavery, then that’s their call as the owners of the IP.
It is as if fans forgot that Dinsey IPs have been their most succesful. LEGO's not gonna bite the hand that feeds them and they themselves have always had their own policies on what not to sell, it would be pretty hypocritical of them to bitch about the IP holder not wanting their toys to display somewhat racist caricatures and scenes of child slavery.
Disney can go screw itself.

Honestly yeah Indiana Jones' depiction of native/foreign people aged pretty horribly so for this I kinda understand but honestly considering major antagonists of the series are Nazis I don't see how you can do Indiana Jones toys without just doing it and seeing the reception first.
Disney should learn that creatively you have absolutely nothing to gain if you don't take a risk, so really if any companies have created merchandise they should just release it and see how it does or how it's received before actually taking actions like this.

It may be a rumor, but it sounds true. Disney sucks. They churn out all this garbage in their content, and yet they don't let LEGO release this. Sounds like modern Disney to me.

I have heard, however, that Iger and the current board of directors may be fired soon. In that case, I might be inclined to care. Many fans said good riddance when Kennedy fired Gina Carano.
