- New Line Cinema and Renaissance Pictures present a return to the iconic horror franchise, “Evil Dead Rise,” from writer/director Lee Cronin (“The Hole in the Ground”). The movie stars Lily Sullivan (“I Met a Girl,” “Barkskins”), Alyssa Sutherland (“The Mist,” “Vikings”), Morgan Davies (“Storm Boy,” “The End”), Gabrielle Echols (“Reminiscence”) and introducing Nell Fisher (“Northspur”).
Moving the action out of the woods and into the city, “Evil Dead Rise” tells a twisted tale of two estranged sisters, played by Sutherland and Sullivan, whose reunion is cut short by the rise of flesh-possessing demons, thrusting them into a primal battle for survival as they face the most nightmarish version of family imaginable.
“Evil Dead Rise” is produced by Rob Tapert (“Ash vs Evil Dead,” “Don’t Breathe”) and executive produced by series creator and horror icon Sam Raimi and cult legend and “Ash” himself, Bruce Campbell, along with John Keville, Macdara Kelleher, Richard Brener, Dave Neustadter, Romel Adam and Victoria Palmieri.
Cronin is joined behind the camera by director of photography Dave Garbett (“Z for Zachariah,” “Underworld: Rise of the Lycans”), production designer Nick Bassett (“Guns Akimbo,” “Sweet Tooth”), editor Bryan Shaw (“Ash vs Evil Dead,” “Spartacus”) and costume designer Sarah Voon (“Chasing Great,” “Inside”), with a score by Stephen McKeon (“The Hole in the Ground,” “Primeval”).
A New Line Cinema / Renaissance Pictures presentation of a Pacific Renaissance and Wild Atlantic Pictures production, “Evil Dead Rise” will be distributed worldwide by Warner Bros. Pictures and is set to open in theaters in North America on April 21, 2023 and internationally beginning 19 April 2023.
Im glad this is going to theaters instead of straight to streaming. This looks like a certified horror classic

It looks extremely generic. Creaky bodies contorting in weird ways, the contacts lens, over produced voices to seem demonic. There have been so many movies in the last 15 years that looks like this this.

Screw the theater. Everything should be released to streaming. Much rather watch something in the comfort of my home, with the ability to pause, reverse, and use subtitles, than in in a filthy building with a bunch of noisy, illness-spreading people.

Finally an actual horror movie that looks good. Being a cinema release makes it even better.

I love the creepy voice in 1:31 that says “all you can do is run” this part stuck with me idk I just love creepy voices from possessed characters in horror movies. So excited for this movie!

Bruce Campbell said the first Evil Dead movie (You know, the very first one with ash) was supposed to downright demonically scary, but the leaders of the current studio knew nobody would see it because of the mostly Christian population (even loosely christian ones) who would never want to see it. So it had to be changed to something less super serious. Which is why The first Evil Dead doesnt match the tone of 2 and 3 which are more slapstick. The Exorcist isn;t a good example of "Downright Demonic" like these movies are so don't bring it up.

@@larryb4598 pretty sure the font and tone made it abundantly obvious that this is more tied to the FANTASTIC remake from Fede Alvarez, and it’s executive produced by sam raimi AND Bruce Campbell. Evil Dead has been my favorite franchise since I learned about horror and everything that has been tied to it is great. Evil Dead 2 was LITERALLY a remake/sequel of the first film so this is absolutely on brand for this franchise, and it’s a good refresh

What are u 20? The last one was a flat out insult to the franchise! It wasn't funny at all. The originals are spoofs! Comedies! Bruce's bravado caries the entire first 3 movies. Last one was just a horror flick riding the name and theme of a established fan base.
@@dormantmenace The original Evil Dead was not trying to be a spoof or funny. It was a legitimate shot at horror and a great one at that considering the budget.
In the remake/reboot/sequel (Evil Dead 2), they decided to roll with Bruce's B movie style and make it more of a comedy spoof which continued into army of darkness and later the series ash vs evil dead.
The modern Evil Dead reboot was made to go in the lines of the ORIGINAL Evil Dead movie. A true Horror.

Except for it's nothing like the Evil Dead we love... This looks like another generic horror movie. Evil Dead is a horror comedy that has never taken itself seriously.

I know Bruce Campbell said he wouldn't play Ash anymore because of physical issues. But it would be great to see him as a wise old man who guides the heroes in the fight against evil, there is no need for him to fight, just guide and help

I must say I'd like to make a special thanks to Ari Aster for what he did for horror with Hereditary. I feel glimpses of it in this in all the best ways

This has a new director attached, and from what we see, he seems to have done pretty good job, but I still wish Fede did a sequel to the remake.

The Evil Dead 2014 is my favorite horror movie. It was the only one to beat Insidious 1 for me. But this trailer was perfectly done i think. It gave no spoilers, just teases of what to expect from the movie. Watching this gave me chills and i’m hoping this is a good horror movie because lately…most have been meh. Super excited!

Well dipshit, no real spoilers but the children in AvED were mostly background players/deadite fodder who had no plot armor whatsoever. Like one kid gets thrown into a fan and some others get sucked into hell basically. The show is mostly funny though and never plays these deaths too seriously.

I love Evil Dead and this looks phenomenal but I have a feeling this one will be the most tragic and hard-hitting considering that this is a mother, her children and their aunt and not just a random group of friends.
No kidding, it was psychologically devastating enough in the last movie with a possessed sister tormenting her brother. Can you imagine the absolute horror of what a possessed mother might say and do to their children in this?

I normally don’t like gruesome horror movies like this but I saw the one in 2013 and oddly became obsessed!! I never seen the 80s one but I’m so happy for the new one!!! Might have to go to the theater for this one

I always liked the Deadites from Evil Dead 2. Although that movie was headed towards an over the top, goofy horror, the pupil-less monsters were terrifying!

this trailer somehow gives us some hints of the plot, i legit thought the movie is going to take place in the cabin by watching previous trailer, and now its actually in the apartment. The disaster showed in the cabin i think its like from flashbacks or story telling from previous survivor of the book wielder(?)

Specifically the 2013 addition, the classic will always be loved… But the 2013 film absolutely traumatized me at the time, even the trailer was just up seemingly aggressive. I’m hoping that this has the same spiteful philosophy.

It’s not a sequel to any Evil Dead, it is it’s own thing as said by Sam Raimi, Bruce Campbell, and Rob Tapert. It does seem they are heading the horror anthology way but they will not be connected. So from now on, we may see many Evil Dead stories that are not connected or in same universe. Maybe, it sounds that way to me from what Rob, Sam, and Bruce have said

Would be great if Bruce didn’t age and we could have Ash because he’s essential to the story and is the best thing about the Evil Dead but even then, I believe theirs better ways to go about it without Ash. They just went the way 2013 did but not connect it which is stupid. They could just say it’s connected, and not give an explanation and I’d be okay. But no, it’s not even connected. Theirs a lot of fans lately, old and new, but especially new, that are making up things. Head canon is really annoying. There is a definite timeline, Ash Vs Evil Dead made it clear that all three Evil Dead films with Ash are canon. And those who like 2013 because it’s dark really haven’t seen the show. The show gets real dark here and then, and the kills, they are as gore as possible. Either way, at end of the day, this is what we’re going to get
