When I was in Thailand and my friend, a local and a former Muay Thai boxer, brought me to a gym to for some lessons and I asked him to strike me. He told me I needed a pad and I insisted not to but he ended up getting a pad for me to hold and just one kick knocked me off my feet. So I got up, asked him to do it without the pad and he said "your ribs will break" and he gave me some strikes at 30-50% and I was bruised for a week. We got some food with some other fighters that evening and I'll never forget when I asked what would happen if Buakaw striked me and my friend translated and they all laughed and my friend replied "you'd die!" and I asked what if he striked them? and they all laughed and my friend said "you die....we die....we all die" lol

Buakaw os more fearless, fear maker, destroing right low kicks and an amazing left cross punch. Saenchi is more like a performer, he does put quite a show, and in the end, all is friendly

He may not be as popular as Ronaldo or LeBron, but this guy puts in twice as much work both physically and mentally. Muay Thai training regiments are brutal and the vast majority of people wouldn’t last a day working out at these guys’ level. These fighters might as well be from another planet with the way they are disciplined and the amount of work they put into their craft.

Buakaw's secret is his patience. He keeps the perfect distance. He waits for his opponent to strike first, then he counters. His counters are deadly. That's how he lands most of his devastating blows. When his opponent's attack, that's when they are the most vulnerable and open, and that is when he lands his kicks and punches. He also almost never kicks straight when he aims for the head, he swings it upwards then down to bypass the arm that blocks the face. He also distracts the opponent with yaps while he twists his body sideways and delivers the unexpected kicks. He also trains to deliver extremely strong left sided kicks to weaken the opponent's dominant side.
And yeah I agree with the comments the Japanese judges definitely pissed him off because in 2006 he played more aggressively to prove a point.

In Thailand the crowds chanting along every kick is fuckin insane, it creates the unreal vibes when every single individual in the building gets engaged with fight like that

True! I grew up running around my neighborhood hearing men cheering MuayThai on TV at my uncle’s house. They cheer and chanting every hit. So every Sunday men are gather there and women at temple..just like in the US I guess. Lol

Buakaw also embarked on an acting career, starring in 2010's Yamada: The Samurai of Ayothaya. Good movie.

This man is incredible is strength to just break someone down within a few hits is really remarkable. Seeing his opponents basically give up within a few mins is wild. Those hits hurt them 100%
