@@PedalScience I respectfully disagree :) Sound is in the fingers. Tone is in the gear. If Jeff Beck was given a cheap, ratty amp and guitar, his playing would be still phenomenal and probably he would be sounding better than anyone else... But his tone would be subpar. And there's a reason why Rough N Ready does not sound like Wired or Guitar Shop: his tone changed due to recording and gear changes.
I prefer Beck on hardtails actually, I think it reins him in a bit cause sometimes I feel he got a bit carried away with the whammy, and he's equally expressive here.
Mark Childers ............ Everyone ......... Yes , check out Roy Buchanan , amazing ,...............really ahead , really experimental , Got there first ,
Jeff manipulates the guitar like no other, combined with this emotionally charged melody, it's the most beautiful sounds I've ever heard come out of a guitar.
Holy cow this is freaking insane! Jeff's tone and playing here are AMAZING! I saw a performance of this song wjth Eric Clapton and it looked to be from the 90s or 2000s and they played so well! Jeff had his whammy bar though and did not do quite as much of the mind bending playing that you can hear here . I'm not sayign technical playing is better. This version is incredibly emotional to me and it speaks to my heart ❤. Thank you for this, it's priceless ! Edit : I had to come back to say Jeff you're so inspiring and thank you for the incredible music . This performance is truly special. Ii want to
How good was jeff no one will sound like jeff again one off so much control the guitarist guitarist rip jeff sad loss always be remembered by millions 🙏
It Just so happens as I played that just the other mornibg still Amazed and blown away after 30 years of listening and the Alchemist of guitar for millions is now a mythical figure..I’ll promise he’s on to new and interesting places and sounds where his spirit went..He was and now truly Is other worldly …No one can ever replace Jeff Beck

Beautiful. Beck is great on any guitar, but this one is always best when played on a Telecaster, even if he did record it on his Tele-Gib. A Stratocaster, Les Paul - fantastic pillar guitars for the sonic territory that they own, but that goes the other way too; they will also never quite get right what Telecasters own - that unique steely, stinging, raw, lively dynamic bite and spank that comes from a classic Telecaster bridge/bridge pickup...something central to the tone of Roy Buchanan, and who this song is dedicated to.
Sounds so good on the Tele! Not to complain, because I have no right to tell Jeff friggin' Beck how to play his guitar, but I preferred him playing Teles and Les Pauls to the Strat, he tends to use the whammy as a crutch. I think he sounds more expressive, and more genuine, without a whammy. Ok, getting off my soapbox now...
I haven't really noticed any difference in feeling. Sure it sounds different, but he still sounds like he likes to play the song with or without a wammy
+Weird Old Uncle Kenny He tends to save the telecaster for Rockabilly, like he did on stage with Clapton at Crossroads 2010. The whammy's not a crutch, it's an integrated part of the instrument, and Beck plays it exactly like that. It's his trademark.
+Weird Old Uncle Kenny I totally agree. that's why the the les paul tribute at the iridium club is so good.he plays a les paul,gretsch,gibson,duo-jet and afew others.he only uses strat on sleepwalk and apache which it is perfect for.would love to see him in concert where he doesn't play strat at all.
That son of a pitch can make it talk. There is no one better
Thanks Jeff for picking up the tele instead of the strat for this song
yeah i mean wtf..i think its not possible
why?
Thought I wanted a strat... remembered its all in the fingers!!

My favorite guitar ballad. Jeff Beck was one of the most natural and expressive musicians of all time.
Absolutely Scott.
My thoughts also
Awesome version on a Telecaster, no whammy bar and still utterly astounding.
So many great rock songs are played using a Telecaster.
I prefer Beck on hardtails actually, I think it reins him in a bit cause sometimes I feel he got a bit carried away with the whammy, and he's equally expressive here.
Volume control.
No trem bar, no excuses, just superb playing...
RIP Jeff. I will listen to your music til my own dying days.
R.I.P. Jeff, a Legendary musician.
Tele’s don’t get the credit for being as versatile as they are. That said, I challenge ANYONE to make one sing like that!
One of a kind. There will never be another like him. RIP Jeff
Everyone at Japan is sad🇯🇵,日本でも皆,悲しんでいるよ、 Not to forget.絶対忘れないよ…ありがとうJeff ❤️
That 1953 Telecaster has incredible tone.
even on a tele he can come up with the wildest sounds. this is too good

I think this is the best I've ever heard him play it.
yeah probably but it's hard to put a "tag" on genius

crying like a baby. If I could only do one thing in my life, it would be to play a song so beautifully.
It’s a tribute to Roy Buchanan. And he played a Tele. The volume swells are great on one. It’s a fantastic tribute!
Yep. Starting around 2:18. First time I ever heard this and wondered "who am I listening too?"
If I could play the guitar in a slightly similar way, I could rest in peace. Wherever Jeff is, he will make it a better place.❤
..This one is dedicated to Roy Buchanan.. The incredible Roy Buchanan.
I need to learn how he makes it sing like that
I love Roy Buchanan too

One of the GOAT! Miss you every day Jeff.
24 people dislike this? why? they think he is a showoff? what? they don't like his guitar all beat up? WHAT???
Best version of the song I guess.
maybe secret policeman's other ball.also a tele.
From sadness to anger to quiet introspection.
This is amazing, so expressively virtuosic, and emotive. So good ..
The Grand Master of them all. So hard to believe he's left us. Fair voyages, Jeff.

Weird Old Uncle Kenny Absolutely! I can't stand all that SLAP-BOINGGGG crap that he does all the time on a Strat.
I agree with you. I wish he'd play the old Tele-Gib Seymour gave him. The Strat and the wang bar gets under my skin after a while.
