That is more than a luxury ride, it's a feeling of pride that you feel inside. Because it's a special feel in an Oldsmobile. What a beautiful ride there. Always loved full size wagons.
Me too!, great reference too
I bought a Light Beechwood Custom Cruiser wagon on 1/12/13, like driving a bank vault! Needs a headliner, and has 157,285 or so miles. This white one is superb!
Goddamn that's my childhood right there. All of us Grade 1'ers piling in the back, on the way to school in our cold Canadian winter. Rear end struggling for grip in the slush. Us being warned to stop fighting in the back.
What an awesome, awesome car.
We immigrated to Canada (Alberta) from England in 1998. The first car I bought was a 1988 Olds Custom Cruiser. God I miss that car! I would love to have another one, one day.
I danced a jig of glee when you pushed the button to release the back sheet.
The chrome trim button wast there! Just like mine.
This. Week I bought back my 1988 Custom Criuser EXACTLY like this one, only with the burgundy interior.
I bought her in 2007, sold her in 2013 then bought her back from a Craigslist ad one week ago today! And for some unknown reason I saved that broken( but intended to fix one day) button in my junk drawer as well as the many extra cigarette lighters that were customer for this car! I’m totally DYING as I type this!
Such an Awesome video.....
I have an 87 Like this one.Wonderful Car ! Great to see this one.Try to adopt and preserve it. Gotta Love it !
This is great American car. I had this back in from '96 to '99 exactly same body and seat color, was in US. Myself Japanese but like American old-time cars. It just beautiful shape are, not able to see recently cars. I wish own this car again in future.
These were great, reliable cars that ran good with minimal problems. Very reliable cars.
Other than the hail damage, that is a nice looking car. I love mine. Definitely a keeper.
WoW, What a Beautiful Land Yacht ! My Main car has been undergoing some restoration for years in my buddy's shop for the last 3 years, thank god for him. That one is a Classic Oldsmobile 1987 Custom Cruiser 8 Pass wagon just like this one.Hope to have her back soon.Just had Head Gaskets. I am an ex GM Employee, and I only Drive AMERICAN IRON.These were real Automobiles,Not the Garbage of today. For me,that's my Mini SUV ! I don't like the new stuff,If I did I'd be paying Collision and Theft ins
Smoother ride than any of today's suv's.
When I was a baby my parents owned a custom Cruiser almost identical to this. My friends thought it was cool because it looked just like the one the family drove in the movie Poltergeist. Actually Poltergeist 2. Even though they used very similar olds custom cruisers the second one used the facelifted version and of course in the older film they used one pre-1982.
Ah yes a 307 Custom Cruiser. I've got a 1988 with less than 50,000 miles. I wish it had cornering lamps and the fender lamp monitors and both power seats. Nice to see there are others out there like this model. All it needs now is a 350 or 403 engine for up hill get and go...
Have a look at mine... I might just sell it for the right money as it's stored in California and I'm in London. Look forward to your comments too. Cheers
This makes a great camper vehicle for two people!
I hope to see something like it at a classic car show someday.
Very nice. I have a 1988 white / woodgrain / grey interior. Almost 350,000 miles. Good cars. Plans for a 403 Olds and a TH 400. Liked the Louie Armstorng on the radio as well.
i love custom cruiser wagons they are badass!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks! Always good to here from other wagon owners.
That's awesome! Always good to hear from another wagon owner, they really are great cars.
Thanks for making this. I'm about to check one of these out and possibly buy it. Looks good!
Very nice ride, gotta love these big cruisers.
Thanks! That is great that you bought a wagon!
i saw one of those in my town, just cleaner paint job. nice rims and a nice exhaust set up. gotta say it was pretty damn sexy.
@sarstoon Thanks! It's always good to hear from other wagon owners!
Nice car, seems very well equipped. I've got the same kit on my 89 Electra Wagon. Awesome cruising car! Nice video too!
Very nice wagon! You don't see many wagons on the road today which is pretty sad.
1989 Oldsmobile Custom Cruiser Station Wagon.
That's a sharp wagon.
Thank you very much!
Very nice; old station wagons always get 'looks' from everyone on the road. My '83 Caprice got the attention of the movie studio, "21'st Century Fox". They ended up buying it from me for to be used in the movie, "Independence Day 2 - Resurgence". It's out there via the search, "1983 Chevrolet Caprice Classic Station Wagon". I spent about $15,000 restoring it to the point where the studio noticed it, and just had to have it.
Wow, you really did an excellent job of showing every detail of that car. I'm glad you got so into it. I owned the same exact car. Mine was light saddle brown with the wood paneling and the same exact interior but Brown. Mine was garage kept and mint condition throughout.
In 2000, I bought a Grand Cherokee and gave the car to my Aunt. She had it for many years and kept it in excellent condition but when she died I believe my cousin sold it to her mechanic. great car, I wish I had it back today.
One nice looking Old's s/w, especially considering the milage. I had an identical one ,bought in 1996. Only difference was beige color interior w/ mogahide leather - like vinyl) seats. The 302 c.i. V - 8 was a great engine that moved that large vehicle. Sokd it at 200,000 miles.

Wow. I think mine was 5.7 liter 4 bbl???
I grew up and learned to drive on our 1976 Pontiac grand safari in 1977 and drove it to a local college for 4 years.
Love gm wahons..
It was loaded with every available option including rally wheels and cornering lamps and interior courtesy lights.. cream with wood and electric disappearing tailgate
3 seats but all faced forward.
Today I own a mint 76 Caprice Estate.
Maroin. Red interior and 3 seat and pwr tailgate.
My pride and joy.
Never sees rain.
The grand safari had a 455 4 barrel but this caprice estate only has a 400 4barrel but it is fast and peppy
It is completely new or rebuilt under the hood.
Thanks for you're response Buddy!
Happy labor day Man!
very beautiful car...please take care of it
@fennjones1 You have a very nice wagon, it is in really great shape. I wish this one didn't have as many miles as it did but it is still a very strong running car. It also has the towing package so it can tow 5,000 pounds and it will never over heat. The man I got it from used to tow his race car, which is how it got most of its miles. I really love cars like this that some people just tend to forget about. Thanks for your comment and I too am glad to see another station wagon like this one!
Wow that's interesting, I'm always glad to learn something new
These really are classics, and I will take a station wagon over and suv any day
Thanks!
@RetroVintageItems27 Yes, it is factory, but it is in very good shape, the sound is really clear
@MikeGuy993 I've actually had two of these and loved them but when my '91 Cruiser was totaled I couldn't find another. Even the rusty ones are getting hard to come by in my area. I've only seen one this nice in a long time and the guy wasn't interested in selling it and I couldn't find any Delta 88s either. If you're going to get rear ended this is a great car for it. I drove away and the other car got towed on a flatbed.
I always thought the Olds 307 would last longer than the 305 Chevy but the Chevy was easier to alter for more power. The old flat cam Olds 307s were still running and going with 300,000 miles on original equipment and back then that was pushing it for the 305. Anything past 250,000 on the Chevy until they went to roller cams. I think they both went to roller cam and lifters in 86/87 and if someone has done maintenance and kept the ring lands clean and bottom end tight they'll last longer than most people wanted to have them. I mean probably had a timing set but I usually check it when I do the water pump.
Actually when I was at my local auto wreckers a few weeks ago they had a 1951 Chrysler imperial in the front lot for sale and it had electric windows. And I think Ford had Electric windows on some of their high end cars too in the 50's such as the 1956-1957 Lincoln mark 2.
I own it now, it is a great car!
@MikeGuy993 Power windows have been around alot longer then the early 70's. I have a 1963 Buick Riviera and it has power windows, power vent windows and power seats. Power windows have been around since about the late 1940's.
I guess I was just thinking about electrically powered. I know that the older power windows were run hydraulically like at least in the early fifties, that's what powers my neighbors 1953 Cadillac series sixty two convertable. I think they then they realized they were dangerous because of how powerful they were. Thanks for the information, I didn't know they had power windows back in '63!
307 Olds engine. Very nice car bud!
I just found an 89 famiy truckster that I might buy for me and my dogs to enjoy but am worried the 307 will be slow..I don't drive fast but do want to have power taking off and also if I get dual exhaust I want it to sound good..this would look really good with a black on black paint effect although don't know if I would want to paint those spoke hubcaps or get some aftermarket wheels to paint a gloss black...I cant believe that for the first time in my life I am thinking about buying a station wagon!.ha ha!..thanks for the video
nice
I liked the dash better on Olds than Chevy. IT WAS A LOT EASIER TO PUT IN A DIFFERENT STEREO IN OLDS. I KNOW. i had 3 Caprice Classics and 4 Olds Delta 88 Brougham..2 were actually Olds 98 Regency Brougham. I actually had a third Olds 98 but I used it as a parts car.
My father had one just like that long tine ago when I was kid. I loved the car. He parked it bc of gas was so much for the car. Then junked it. Sadly...
Power windows have been around a long time, power windows have been around since at least early 1970's I believe
@PianoShapedObject Yeah they are very strong cars. And believe it or not I was driving it the other week and saw another one exactly like it. It is a shame that a lot of these cars have been mistreated and taken to derbies. Thanks for the comment and subscribe if you like, I am going to start making more videos of it soon!
How sad is it that I drive a Lincoln and I'm drooling over a station wagon?
I'm looking to buy either a 1978 or 1979 Olds Custom Cruiser with the 5.7 diesel V8 (RPO LF9) and the THM350 automatic.
@PianoShapedObject There are all sorts of good cars out there!
This is a classic car that you just don't see anymore. This car is in great shape and in my opinion, is America's original family car. Thanks for watching and please tell me your opinion! ( and I meant 307 Olds engine)
I wannttttt this car!!!!!
Not to long ago I bought a 1985 delta 88 check it out.....Driving my Delta 88.
Thanks for the comment, I can get just about any job done with this car is, no matter what the task!
Is it just me or do others think Louie Armstrong sounded right on that?
@MikeGuy993 At least one of my past Cruisers ended up as a derby car. It doesn't bother me, I knew the car was done for so if it was going to end up cubed anyway better to be stripped for parts and go out with a bunch of huge bangs than just whimper while being squashed. One last blaze of glory. Wagons that are still good are different because then its just a waste and lack of appreciation.
Real american car
@TheZach543 No it does not, and I'm not sure if that was available for the time or not
I think they were optional even in the 50s on some cars.
huoww!! Congratulations my friend!
I love Olds'mobile and the Custom Cruiser is my favorite! I'm Brazilian, unluckily here never see this car! I hope that in my traveling for USA in 2012, I can see this classic. I agree with you " is America's original family car" Misses the 80's and 90's....
Do you have Facebook? Add me (Lucio Cozin) or Luthi!
Bye
I want it lol
Grantland brought me here
Is that a factory radio? Looks new but I'm more a 1950's - 1970's car guy...
Retro
that thing is in too good of shape. are you sure it has 240k and not 24k it's so clean under the hood & even the rubber bumper inserts are still in tact. no wear on the driver's seat. I think those old odometers only go up to 99k & they roll over back to all zeros. that thing is loaded I hope its still around. thanks for the upload.
Believe it or not that really is the mileage! The original owner took incredible care of it, the trans has been rebuilt twice along with some top end work to the motor.
Tyrn tyour BASS controls to the max. Sounds better that way.

I Didnt know Those year or model had an electric window. i thought it was around 1995+ when electric windows appeared.. im not a car person so dont bash me...
early 1970 were better they had the 455 4bbl lots more power and the clamshell back door up until 77. i had a 1975 one but no third seat though
