Great video REM, bummer on the half eaten avocado but great harvest of your other avocados. You have a really nice food forest with avocados and black berries. I think you used to have a blood orange tree as well. Those darn UFOs. Great video once again!
Your food forest has way more stuff, congrats. Thanks for watching!
Sorry to hear about your stolen fruit. Man it makes me so mad when that happens. Well, if makes you feel any better I caught another squirrel today in my squirrelinator. Another one down. I have caught about 9 so far. Crazy. Your trees are looking good. I have noticed more fruit drop this year on the varieties that flowered earlier. Probably due to the colder weather. I hope you and your family are well. Take care
Wow, 9, I have not caught one yet. A lot of gophers but now squirls. All good, thanks for watching!
What is a squirrelinator?
Good for you to harvest the remaining avocados. They look excellent. I should have done that with my GEM and Carmen. It’s a little bit maddening but we learn. Thanks for sharing your experience.
The battle is real, good thing I've already tasted the Esther. Thanks for watching as always
Nice looking Esther avocados. How is their taste and ability to peal from the flesh? I’ve never tasted one but an anxious to. So nanny of the non-Hass, are harder to find to taste. I’ve maybe tasted 8-10 different varieties but anxious for many more. Very good looking grove and land you have there. Keep all these great posts coming.
Didn't know you wanted to try one, I could have save a couple for you...next time. Thanks for watching!
Hey REM - Bummer about that big avo getting eaten. It really is a balancing act between the forces of nature (UFO's, birds, insects, weeds, weather, etc.), and trying to maintain your orchard and garden. The critters and birds will take their share, but as your trees get larger and produce more, the impact they will have becomes proportionately less. Your video has made me decide to start setting my traps. Last season I caught 11 squirrels which helped reduce my fruit loss, but not entirely. FYI -my JB is doing well and is upright!! Thanks Much!!
I'm glad the JB is on its way to making you fruit! I think you'll like it. Unfortunately I don't have much JB fruit this year but it's all good. Thanks for watching!
What kind of traps? Is there a picture somewhere? Good job catching all those!
@@ocnealocneal6549 I use Have A Heart traps and then release the critters on a dirt fire road about 2 miles away up in the local hills
When we get together for some bud wood. I can bring the UFO eliminator.
.22 caliber pellet rifle will take care of those critters… it worked for me 😎
It's time, I haven't been lucky enough to get one yet. Thanks for watching!
REM, same thing happened to me recently so trap was set at base of tree and next day big fat possum trapped. Dunked in horse trough and and vultures had a nice afternoon meal. Have a heart traps of different sizes loaded with cat food and avocado gets the possums. Oatmeal for the squirrels. Skunks are by catch and that gets fun
Hey Pat, what do you do for skunks to prevent them from spraying you?
@@AvocadoTalk once in trap approach slowly holding up
A big bed sheet between you and cage. Gently sing and talk to skunk as you approach and then slowly lower and drop the sheet over trap. Then carefully lift and submerge into horse trough. I usually don’t get any spray at all. Occasionally they release a little but it’s not an issue. Vultures have no issue with smell
@@SVmathfarmer haha 😂😂, I didn't know singing was part of the equation. 😂😂
@@AvocadoTalk it works🎼🦨🦨🦨🎼
Wow, what a loss me & my son remember seeing that one.
I was totally saving it, I was curious to see how much it was going weigh. All good, more to come. Thanks for watching!
I live about 15 min away from you. I have a huge avocado tree, not sure what variety, but this year I don't see any fruit buds coming in. I saw a lot of the flowers fall off, and I'm concerned that none got pollinated. Has this ever happened to you or someone you know? That an entire year goes without fruit?
If it's a really big tree and you got flowers, you should have some fruit set. Hang in there. It's been a weird year so far. Thanks for watching!
@@AvocadoTalk thanks! I hope so... I'm new to this area and new to having an avocado tree. I have lots to learn.
It's time to UNITE AND FIGHT BACK!! LOL! They sell large old style rat traps at the home depot, really cheap. You should buy a dozen and set several around each tree. Probably won't kill them but will definitely scare the crap out of them.
They are getting fat, it's time. Thanks for watching!
I've caught about 6 squirrels and 3 possums so far this spring. I don't mind the possums as much. The squirrels got to go
You are doing better than me, just 1 each so far. Haven't seen a squirrel in a while, probably because I don't have any avocados ready.
Did you plant all that nettle around the avocado tree?
Volunteer mint, going to be hard to get rid of but I like mint so it's all good. Thanks for watching!
0:26 Although Gary Gragg would still eat that...
Now that is funny!! I totally agree that Mr. Gragg would devour the remains of that avo
@@neurocognitive o man he is brave. @avo7bproject the question is would you eat it?
Would you eat it? 😂. Thanks for watching!
@@AvocadoTalk I think I would pass on that one. It looks pretty thrashed.
On second thought, it does look like you could eat the tip of the avo and cut off anything south of the tip.
Unidentified Furry Objects 🤷🏿♂️ 🤷🏿♂️ 🤷🏿♂️
Most times UFOs this time identified.
oh no.
It's all good, hope your avocados are doing good. Thanks for watching!
