With Christian Bale, it should be noted that he got super fit for American Psycho, lost weight for Reign of Fire, got back up to normal weight and muscle mass for Equilibrium, dropped to an alarmingly low weight for The Machinist, bulked back up in a serious way for Batman Begins, thinned down for Rescue Dawn, then got back into fighting fit condition for The Dark Knight, lost a good chunk of the mass and weight for The Fighter, and then got back into shape for The Dark Knight Returns. This is all over a span of 12 years that he dropped and gained back his weight over an over to different degrees in both directions.
Dustin Hoffman once said he didn't sleep for 2 days to look the part in a scene from " Marathon Man " (1975) and one of his co-stars Sir.Lawrence Olivier asked him " Why would you do that ? " Hoffman responded " To look the part " and Olivier's response was " Why...can't you act ? ". Lol , priceless. Hoffman said, that was the biggest lesson in acting of his whole career.
And then you have actors like Gary Oldman, actors that just show up and do the work without becoming loony tunes because, as he says : "It's just a job, really."
There's a story about the filming of "Marathon Man", where Dustin Hoffman's character is on the run from government agents trying to kill him. He'd stayed up all night, etc., etc., etc., so he could be disheveled for filming. Costar Laurence Olivier asked him what the deal was, and Hoffman explained "the method", to which Olivier is reputed to have said, "Why not do what I do? It's called 'acting'".
You should watch the documentary. It's amazing the lengths he went to in preparation for that role, and there's a lot of commentary from his co-stars on what it was like working with him (mostly a nightmare)

The dude literally starved himself, cuts off any connections with his family, and almost gone insane from the mental stress during the last couple scenes when Szpilman was surviving in the ghetto. Dude, First of all, Razzie means nothing.. is just about comedy. They give it to talented actors only of humor purposes. It's not serious at all. Secondly, he is the only thing good in the movie . The movie is awful.. badly paced, bad scripted but I think Kutcher stands out with his performance.

Wow! No mention of Heath Ledger, may he rest in peace, and his dying dedication in his role as the Joker in The Dark Knight that ended up costing his own life?
I love that when Dustin Hoffman was on the set of Marathon Man is stayed up for two days. When he finished the scene Sir Laurence Olivier (who hated Method acting) leaned over Hoffman (who he also didn't like) and said, "next time kid, try acting".
The Jim Carrey- Andy Kaufman story may have been a little creepy but it shows true dedication. Crazy how Jim referred to himself playing Andy as “Andy” many years later. 😳
Leonardo DiCaprio with his role in the Aviator! He played the OCD symptoms so well, that some persisted after the filming, and he had to go on therapy for a few months afterwards to get rid of them. OCD can be a devastating condition, so he probably went through some serious suffering.
Ashton Kutcher sounds like Kelso in all of those clips. I've never heard Steve's Jobs' yell, I've heard him talk and I really don't think Kutcher did a good job at all.
Wow its almost as if Ashton Kutcher is the actor who plays Kelso. yeah obviously youve never heard steve jobs yell, why would you ever get that interaction with him
Christopher Carr and Tash, The video is about method acting and how it transformed the actor's acting abilities. I know Kutcher played Kelso. But if his method acting paid off, he'd sound like Jobs, not Kelso. And of course he's yelled. The only reason I said I haven't heard him yell, is to show I have no basis for comparing Kutcher's yelling scene to anything Jobs has done. But I have scene Jobs in interviews, and the comparison I can make between the scenes with Kutcher speaking and Jobs speaking, I just don't think they sound alike. Get it?
Ashton stands alone in this amazing list. I think instead of method acting with Kutcher they mistakenly found talentless acting. He really showed his stuff.

What about James Spader in his first starring role Jack's Back in 1988. Director, Rowdy Herrington said that during the hanging scene, he allowed himself actually be hanged, but not just that. He dragged across the floor by a rope around his neck and hanged in the the air with the chair dropped on the floor. We they cut the scene, Spader actually wasn't breathing and had to be rushed to EMS. Now, that's some serious acting there.

I like a lot of Jim Carrey movies but when I saw the Jim and Andy Documentary I lost a lot of respect for him because he wasn't channeling anything, he was a jerk! Andy Kaufman and Jerry Lawlor were friends and Jim Carrey acted like an A Hole to Jerry, so he wasn't channeling anything! Oh wait, they are all female actors. Their method acting doesn't count. Carry on good sirs.
Charlize Theron in Mad Max?
Not sure on the method part of that lol.
And I dont think she became a serial killer "monster" either
Not sure that Hillary Swank got a dick either. Dressing in boys clothes isnt method acting. Lol.
OMG>>>>>>MERYL was so amazing in that role (Sophie's )that to this day my reaction is the same. I could not watch the entire movie and resorted to leaving the theater in tears and I still try to watch this movie every 3 months or so and my reaction is the same. I can only view 15 minutes of the movie at a time and I still cry like a baby. Thanks for reminding everyone about SOPHIE'S Choice.
That's not method acting, that's real acting, dummy. And actresses get all the attention and accolade, not men.
No, women are smart enough not to be dangerous and crazy about their method acting. As a woman, I wouldn't want to be on this list.
Also i heard during the filming of There Will Be Blood, daniel day-lewis went around drinking everyone's milkshake
Much respect towards Adrian Brody! I am watching peaky blinders atm and his role of Lucas changaretta is amazing
I do love method actors like Daniel Day Lewis but I'm certain that they're all a little crazy.
Men: ah Im just going to diet to shoot this 6 month film.
Women: Ive been on 6 different diets for 8 months. I started off at 195 ....I'm not 231 🤣🤣🤣🤣 🤦🏾♀️
Can we dance in the ocean?
Yes offcourse you can, thats what it's there for
Dude I'm seeing you everywhere now
You forgot one name. everyone forgot one name.
And that person really is very close to everyone's heart.
THAT'S HEATH LEDGER.
Good to know that about the Pianist actor. That was one of the best movie that I've seen.
The studio was brilliant in hiding that material because Jim Carrey came looking like an A Hole!
Heath Ledger deserved a mention
Ashton isn't an actor, he's Ashton.
hE IS KELSO!!!
Adrien Brody is my favorite actor. He is painfully underrated and I wish he got the attention he deserves. He seems like such a chill/nice dude.
@@LelandPlayTime I know right? It's one of my favorite movies. It ruined me (in a good way)
He disconnected his cell phone?! Omg, such sacrifice. Such dedication.
