- The global version of the Xiaomi 14 is on its way, but I was able to get the Chinese version 2 months ago and I've been daily driving it ever since. While the Xiaomi 14 isn't perfect, this is the best camera experience I've had on a phone so far. Check out the video to hear my full thoughts!

What are your thoughts on the Xiaomi 14? 🤔
having the 13 since april, this new one fixes every lack 🎉
Glad I made my purchase. For me, it's got the best phone body, and the cameras are really good, almost at par with the iPhone 15 Pros cameras I would say.
Looks like excellent compact flagship phone with medieval USB2 finally updated to something modern.
Especially camera muscle is second only to absolutely highest end phones and pretty much kicks other compact flagships to curb putting Galaxy S24 into shame. (and there's no Exynos quality lottery)
But Xiaomi needs to get global release out with proper frequency band support.
Can you share this wallpaper plz
Not bad very compact, but the vapor issues it's a big problem!
This phone is undeniably beautiful af
I clicked a random video because I wanted to see a good review before I buy the phone.
I am impressed by the video quality and content. Subbing :)
Wow thank you so much 🥲
Really like and enjoyed your video and how you reviewed the phone 💯
Very good review. I remember notifications being hit or miss with the Redmi 7 Pro
Your UA-cam reviews have been incredibly helpful in guiding my decision on which phone to purchase. I appreciate the effort you put into creating such valuable content. Keep up the excellent work!
Thank you so much for watching and for the kind words !!
Hi, now that the global version is out, what your experiences in the softwarrle optimization? Has it improved?
One thing that is a huge issue is the external mic quality. They don't disable the over the top noise and voice cancellation algorithms if you attach a wireless or wired mic which leads to super overprocessed sounding audio.
I reported this issue to Xiaomi and made a ticket. Hopefully they are able to fix it.
As for the rest of HyperOS I think it is quite good. Jitters and refreshrate dip downs I did not experience. Did you set your refresh rate to high or left it to default? Default might cause this as it automatically regulates the refresh rate down.
I didn't notice that issue 🤔 I will definitely test that out myself.
As for the refresh rate, the variable default mode on other competing phones doesn't dip in refresh rate as the Xiaomi 14 does for UA-cam, which is why it was very noticeable to me. For the most part, it's totally fine and doesn't do that for 99% of apps!
👏🏼 great work buddy!
Thanks so much, Mark! Been loving your videos since your very first TechnoBuffalo videos :)
Great Review! Only thing making me not pull the trigger is the battery Management making smartwatches not sync automatically. Had the problem with My Poco f3
every shot i take with that 3.2 cam is so satisfying, especially macro shots. great background blur and it just looks already edited. 50mp on all cams is insane, so is the color accuracy on the ultrawide. amazing purchase for around 800 euros for me
Awesome content keep it up as always new subscribers brother
Thank you so much for watching!
Hi, I have just bought my Xiaomi 14 and I want to ask your opinion. In your day to day camera settings, for photography, do you turn on your HDR or off? What about AI camera option, do you set it on or off?
Hey there.
Just got this phone and i am quite happy with.
Once it will be released globally, will I be able to install the Global Rom that will arrive in Europe?
Thanks 😉
Just waiting for your pixel 8 or 8 pro review . Godbless !
I love the display size and its resolution
thanks for review
Thank you for watching;!

Nice video, but what is with main camera, lens become foggy?
Xiaomi is the closest you'll get to an iOS experience on an Android phone, love it.
Lol😂
That's not a good thing. 💀
@@BojanTomicwhen you see how obsessed people are in making their phone look like ios, it makes sense. Personally, the fact that MIUI copies ios so much was one of a couple of reasons to change to a custom rom, like why can't xiaomi have their own style like other brands?
@@BojanTomicIt is, because its iOS but in Android. Thats literally my Dream
Means crappiest Android experience.
How are the dynamic range and highlight retention in 50MP mode? Same as 12MP or worse?
great phone. i hate the fact that this has taken so long to be release for global users....xiaomi doesn't take us seriously, what a shame
🤞
I think they sell well in China. 1.5 billion target people is enough for sale numbers of a phone company.
Still waiting for this phone, but samsung s24 has a good launch offer. Don't know if i can wait for the xiaomi to come.
I m waiting for global launch❤️
im waiting for it to released in global markets, damn, what took them soo long. i want that phone
🤞
im scared with the price
Wait 1 year, just bought Xiaomi 13 used for 4 months in my country for 450 euro @@PedroHenrique-hv4sj
it's been rumored that it won't be released globally, but still hoping. I'm patiently waiting for the global version hahah
@@urbano.urbano the pro version yea. because they will release ultra in global then the lower version (14) not the middle (pro)
It is the best phone on the market.
Thanks for the video! I have one question, is there some problems with Chinese ROM using it outside of china? I mean maybe some google features or sth else?
Yeah there are some issues: non-China smartwatches not pairing, Android Auto not working, Google One backup not working. But outside of that, everything else works!
@@hoyoungwon Thank you so much for you reply, I haven't found any video about Chinese ROM experience on youtube, for some reason
Sir, which is the best for camera dept both image and video quality between xiaomi 14 @ iphone 15? Btw thank u ❤
i love my Xiaomi 14 ❤
Genshin Impact benchmark can be higher since there is content that would really put a demanding stress of the processors. It's mainly choosing characters that have abilities with a lot of particle effects (Venti, Ganyu, Kazuha, and etc.) use all there bursts at the same time and see if the fps drops below the normal threshold. This would of course require investment in actually getting those characters.
The pictures made me really excited. I shouted "HEY, IT'S KOREA!" 😂
Hahaha yeaaa
Where do you get the screen lock & wallpaper??
Can we switch from uw lens to w while recording?
I see so many reviews complaining about the slippery glossy glass back.. How is the matte black version? Still slippery?
I was using a Xiaomi 13T Pro before upgrading to the Samsung Galaxy S24+. For me, Xiaomi is now right up there with Samsung when it comes to hardware and software. And there are things that I think Xiaomi did better. I'm now contemplating trading my S24+ for the Xiaomi 14 because I'm not really comfortable with the 6.7-inch screen. I feel like 6.4 is the perfect screen size for me. I also miss the superfast charge of Xiaomi.
i'm also deciding between the two, but i'm interested what things xiaomi did better than samsung
Could i purchase the Chinese/Asian market phone phone & use in the UK?
which wallpaper setup is that ? & the transition from lock screen to home screen too 😍😍
You can find the wallpaper on the Backdrops app! Search up Altitude Cruise in the app :)
How about the zoom? Does it pixelize? & does it shake when you're getting a video while running or walking? Thank you.
Not overly impressed with the zoom at all, upgraded from a Huawei p30 pro that's 4 years old and rather tired! Unfortunately it doesn't feel much of an upgrade in the camera department 😢
I love xiaomi 14
Does the dual sim variant support esim? I mean can it take 2 nano sims and an esim?
Is there any issues with Google apps on the Chinese rom . Or should i wait for global rom
No issues on the google apps, boss. 🎉
Hello!
I have a question: how much does the Mi Music app drain the battery and how much does it heat it up?
I'm currently using a Mi 9 and Mi Music eats up the battery, sometimes up to 30-40% in 1.5-2 hours of listening music.
Obviously it's not the phone's fault, but something went wrong in the app development. I personally have been experiencing this bug since last December.
Has anyone else experienced this?
Or does anyone know a solution?
does it support Dolby vision content in netflix being a chinese variant?
i love my XIAOMI 14 ❤ 😍
Same ♥️
Are the still shots in vibrant or authentic mode?
Watching from my Xiaomi 14
How's the swiping, it's smooth with no sharp edges? It's why I'm not sure if I should go for a flat screen, the poco F5 is flat but feels edgy on the sides when swiping compared with my Mi11.
But also heard the 14 pro feels it's got sharp edges even though it got a curved screen. So the normal 14 feels smooth when swiping?
just done testing mi 14 ..yeah you right bout the edges is pretty sharp when scrolling between left n right
I just watched this review and I kinda regret not getting this 😅 The image is just surreal for a phone.
Can you please do a comparison between this and the 13 pro (if you have it)
For the record, the globally released phones are much more expensive than the Chinese version, so the price of $560 isn't representative. For example, the Xiaomi 13 cost £850 in the UK. The Pro cost £1100. They are not too expensive for flagships, but the support of Pixels, iPhones and Samsung devices is superior.
Yeah, I've noticed the markup for Xiaomi in Europe can be pretty crazy 😭. Still, you can find Xiaomi phones for their starting prices in many other parts of the world. Plus, the Chinese versions of Xiaomi phones are often available through AliExpress with Google services enabled!
@@hoyoungwon That is true re importing, but I have had some bad experiences with that and vowed to never do its again. Especially as in the UK we get far better consumer rights including a two year warranty. My P7P FP scanner recently broke and it was over a year old and fixed free. If that was the Xiaomi, it would cost up to £250!
The Xiaomi 13 is €700,- in NL/eu. Why is it so expensive in the uk?
Launched at 99000 NPR in Nepal (£590). Think it's my next phone
I don't think that is a problem with the HyperOs in youtube animations, I'm sure that the app can run only at 60hz even if you have 120hz.
Hello sir
Can you please tell me how to set round circle fingerprint theme
How many android and security update does this phone get?
I live in the UK. This is better than Samsung galaxy s24 so I'm waiting to buy the global release
Same here, though not excluding S23.
S24 definitely has superb OS support, but endurance with smaller battery is question mark especially with Exynos and in camera department there's no competition to Xiaomi 14.
In fact would have to go to Galaxy Ultra level models to get more camera muscle.
@@tuunaes only thing stopping me from buying the s23 and s24 is slow charging. Otherwise they are the best phones in the world
@@LightSaber12345 Super fast charging isn't exactly good for battery's health and endurance over time. Especially if you do stressing to lithium chemisty even normally charges to 100%.
So such feature should be used only when really necessary.
But it's not yet known, if Exynos is good in power effiency, or if S24 is another bait and switch product with review phones differing significantly from what most of the world gets.
My current phone Galaxy S8 has sucky standby endurance even with power saving on, unless I limit it to 3G/2G networks. Previous SnapDragon chipset based phone didn't need disabling 4G network and still had clearly better standby endurance.
I'm waiting to see the price of this xiaomi 14 before deciding. I'm tempted by the s24 but £800 for 128gb and slow charging is changing my mind
@@44Hogarth if you pre-order, you get the 256GB for the same price as the 128GB right now until 30th January. Also if you're a student or under 26, you also get 512GB for the same price and 15% off too.
How's the ads situation? Also pretty sure the UA-cam thing is just Xiaomi 14 is a Chinese unit and not optimised for global release and thus also not optimised for Google apps. Maybe global release will fair better.
And now I've realised Hyper OS uses Google's versions of app switching. Personally, the app switching on MIUI is my favourite. Much more apps shown and swipe down instead of sides.
The only "ads" I got were occasional Chinese notifications from the Themes or GetApps stores. But you're able to disable those.
Just to let to you know that it can be changes in setting between one you prefer switching many apps like MIUI or slides
You said $560 but can't find it for that price. Also does the chiness rom have issue with the reception and antenna?
That's the starting price in China!
For the network issues, that really depends on your carrier and local coverage. But I have no issues with LTE or calling/texting in Korea.
Appreciate the detail review. Found it really helpful. Would you suggest waiting for the global version to come?@@hoyoungwon
알리에서 주문하셨나요?
I have a question.
I am about to buy a phone, and Xiaomi 14 might launch soon in Nepal. So I was wondering which to buy, Xiaomi 13 pro or 14(not pro)??
14 no doubt!
Hey thanks for the fantastic review! A plus for it being filmed in Korea haha. Your video was super helpful, probably the most informative one out there thst i could find. Bravo, sir.
P.s - how does volte work in Korea? Decent?
Thank you so much for the kind words! :D
And yes, VoLTE works perfectly using KT!
@@hoyoungwon thanks a lot! Much respect.
Hi! Can someone please tell me which phone should I get between a Xioami 14 ( Standard ) and a Xioami Redmi Note 13 Pro 5G, I'm very confused about these two and I want to make a good choice soon.
If it helps with anything, I want a phone for medium gaming and daily use like social media + to listen to music.
dude, xiaomi 14 is flagship ( high tier ) while the redmi note is the budget series ( middle tier ) , get the xiaomi it's better quality without doubt
Btw. I know it might be not so cold in your region but did you ever ended up with a foggy lense when going outside in the cold from a warm place? I have this annoying issue with many Xiaomi phones but not so much with others where I think it might be a quality control issue.
Actually it gets very cold here in Seoul 😂 (sometimes -20 to -25 C). But no, haven't had that issue from my end!
@lltechview did you experience it with the regular 14?
@@mhsc 14, 14 Pro, 13 Pro, 13 Ultra.
@@lltechview have you been able to fix it? Is the fog just temporarily?
I believe that was an issue strictly with 13T/13T Pro.
Is that lockscreen clock default option for the the OS? 7:09
Yep! It's included as one of the defaults.
Thank you for the very good review. But I have to disagree about the lags and stutters. Xiaomi has had this problem for a long time. I had the Xiaomi 13 and even there, switching between and exiting (fullscreen) apps was not smooth, even though the SD8Gen2 has endless performance. It is definitely due to the MIUI or HyperOS. I also don't accept the fact that HyperOS is version 1.0. As always, it's just a skin of the basic Android system. That's a great pity, because it significantly disrupts the user experience and that's why I switched to another manufacturer.
What about the SOT?
Does anyone have problems with camera fogging (going from warm to cold or vice versa)? I'm also interested in the battery life (if someone uses 2 SIM cards, a little playing games, a little photography, using it for surfing the Internet and social networks / applications, while the mobile Internet is turned on non-stop)?
Is the camera better then them from the xiaomi 13 pro?
How about here in Philippines possible to have a Xiaomi 14 cuz I wanna to buy that phone thanks Keep safe
I have the pro model. It's hard to find cases and quality screen protector.
5:22 front camera is so good that it makes moon clearer and closer.
i almost believed it lol
Could you compare it with Pixel 8 please
What camera did you use while recording sir?
Sony ZV-1
If you tried it as your daily driver, what do you say about the delayed/non existent notifications for messages, etc?
You will have to adjust settings on individual apps for notifications.
@@mamamia601 lol such a hassle doing that one by one.
Is the camera better the Galaxy S24+?
So 4K 30fps is the limit on this thing? When other higher end phones are doing 4K 60fps & 8K 30fps? I was doing 4K 30fps in 2016 on my HTC.
It does record in 4k 60 and also 8k 24
@@Cilikekko1 Sorry, my mistake, someone told me it was basically the same as the Poco X6 pro, I just looked up the specs & you're right.
@@FactsBeFacts How would a flagship be the same as one of the cheapest mid range phones ?
@@cmgm6027 Quite easily, here's a good example, the brand new Nubia Z60 Ultra which is competition to the S24 Plus & Ultra has the exact same camera as the 2 year old £240 Honor 70.
Hi @hoyoungwon whats is this purple wallpaper called? Need to put it on my wallpaper on Xiaomi 11
Hi , in Xiaomi 14 with normal using like browsing and social media apps is the phone get worm? , what about the battery life screen on time for social media apps with wifi ?
I think I buy the pro.
It's xiaomi, bugs will never leave. If you can deal with their annoying bugs, just go for it
Iphone 15 or xiaomi 14 , im stuck between these two !! Can anyone help me 😢
I was thinking to buy it but I saw a lot of people says that cameras getting fog between lens and lens cover. Have you experienced this?
that was my same question. i saw so many reviews and everyone said only good things,so i decided to buy it,and guess what, first issue, foggy lens, which sucks big time, now i don't know what to do,as no one talks about it ((((
Never? Not on my model 🤔
@@hoyoungwon what do you mean never? You also have Xiaomi 14 and no issues with foggy lens?
I'm replying to OP. I never had the foggy lens issue on my unit
@@hoyoungwon Scenario is that... When you go out from warm place to outside under 10 Celcius and if you take 4K 60fps video for a few minutes, lens getting fog. Whats the difference between the chinese version is global version?
a combination of bloatware and apps that wont work (because restricted on CN version). also the chinese version only carries english and chinese as language options which isnt that big of a problem. the apps not working will make it a bad experience tho...
@@lennart14Also, the missing LTE bands can make reception outside of urban areas worse, depending on your mobile provider. Especially in Europe, where B20 is very commonly used (but not supported in CN versions).
It's a great phone... However what are the differences between a Chinese version of the phone versus the global version of the phone. Your review has made me interested in the phone.
Actually really not that much! It's mostly a difference in cellular bands for local network compatibility and a more toned down version of HyperOS with a few features missing. The biggest noticeable difference would be that the global version comes with Google services enabled, while the Chinese version just needs to manually enable them in the settings.
There is no Google timeline history and android auto in china version
@@LevisLefevre This ☝️ too. Also, some incompatibility with global versions of wearables like smartwatches
I was considering purchasing the Chinese variant of this phone. You can unlock the bootloader (although Xiaomi have made it a little more tricky with the 14 Series) and then flash it with a Global ROM.
This then gives you all the benefits of a regular Global version of the phone. So Android Auto, Banking apps etc. all work as expected.
However, the Chinese version of these phones lack LTE Band 20 which here in the UK, is kind of vital for 4G data connection.
So unfortunately, I'm giving this a miss and waiting it out for the global release.
Xiaomi are really missing a trick by not launching globally from the get go!
@@JamiePaulSmithTV i heard from some people that this will brick the phone. everyone on the xiaomi forums tells people with this question to not do it because it will mess up your device.

I personally own the phone only thing i dislike is the cheap buttons and the 24fps low light video record mode while the S24 gets at least 30fps

6:29 bro, I advise you to check refresh rate settings completely, before saying other apps don't support 120hz, well there is a option named custom refresh rate literally in my Xiaomi's POCO F5 in $256 and sure that it is there too 😂
I never said those apps don't support 120Hz. I was just saying that's what the experience is like out of the box with variable refresh rate mode on.
@@hoyoungwon I think UA-cam is also not available by default in Chinese varient 😁, btw turn on Advanced textures for more flagship aesthetics experience
Samsung S23 or Xiaomi 14(Global)? I can't decide...
Both have their advantages.
S23 is little lighter and slightly smaller/especially slimmer by not having big camera bumb and as Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 based has good endurance for Samsung in every country.
Xiaomi has better cameras with bigger pixel binning sensors for ultra wide and tele, higher resolution screen, 256GB storage as base level with 12GB RAM option at next step, bigger battery with fast charging modes (though high charging current with fast rising temperature is battery wear risk if used lot) and latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset.
Notebookcheck got some very impressive runtime numbers for imported Chinese version beating even bigger battery&smaller lower res screen Xperia 5 V in fixed workloads.
I'm considering mostly them for upgrade from Galaxy S8, whose Exynos chipset has sucktastic 1% per hour draw for doing nothing except maintaining standby network connection unless disabling 4G network.
S24 doen't look that tempting with Exynos chipset downgrading call time 20% from S23 and likely also hitting standby endurance.
The S23 is a fantastic phone overall, but the camera is pretty disappointing. If you enjoy photography, the Xiaomi 14 is a clear winner.
@@0valle0 Well, compared to my S8 those should be still far better, but Xiaomi 14's cameras certainly make them feel average.
Xiaomi's global release should be in two weeks.
