The super battle droids are just such a good looking mold. I hope when we get them in the droid battle pack, they fix the clip breaking issue but nothing else!
Out of all of these the 2013 is the best imo, while it would definitely be changed a few ways today it's the best and most accurate representation in playscale that LEGO has released so far
Completely agree with what he said that if they made the newest one the same size as the previous versions and designed it with more and better features it would’ve been way better than it is maybe even the best release. Instead it’s as good as the 2002 overall at best in my opinion it’s sadly the worst one released as the ranking score also shows in the video.
I don’t understand why the helmet holes on the new troopers is such a big deal. Nearly every other variation of clone troopers/Mandalorian helmets have holes and it doesn’t seem to be a problem with them…
It is purely the implementation. All the other ones don't stick out. I honestly wouldn't have half the issue with them if they just removed where they are supposed to go. It is really jarring seeing where they are where they're supposed to be. IMO the ultimate middle ground is removing the real location so it is easier to overlook.
Telling Lego that they are bad would just be a limiting imaginations and if you’re going to make an army out of hundreds, why would you care about the difference of a millimeter

Also even though not in-universe accurate it has such great creative play features. The ship can drop off its underside as a base and act as sort of a drop ship. Its great! 🙂
I had the 2013 gunship, I got it for Christmas and I absolutely loved it. Or wait another 5-10 years until Lego releases another one, who knows. So fxcking frustrating
I’m buying a custom one. Check out the brick vault and rich boy jhae ones they’re so much better than the junk version Lego gave us this year. Of course you can order the parts gradually too if you can’t afford them all right away. The 2013 one is very nice but custom ones are definitely comparable and much cheaper plus you get the option to go with a different version than the regular color scheme.
At least ur being real with urself. I’ve seen so many people blindly like the coruscant gunship because they were unable to get any of the previous gunships. It’s a shame because all Lego needed to do was slightly update the 2013 model and put the coruscant guard scheme on it. Would’ve been an amazing set.
2002 was my favorite lego set as a kid. Was the crown jewel of my childhood collection. I can't argue it being better than the 2013 set, but Lego doesn't really give us sets like this anymore, because of battle packs and stuff. 2002 will always hold a special place in my heart.
After the newest AT-TE I had high hopes for the Coruscant gunship but it pretty much failed for me in every way. As an owner of multiples of the previous version the fact that this was so far from compatible means I have already started buying parts to Mod the 2 I plan to buy to match the scale and features of the others.
Completely agree I was excited for the newest one when I heard they’d finally be releasing another one and then I was thoroughly disappointed. So much so I’m not going to bother getting it and I’ll just be getting a custom one online instead which will be the first time ever that I’ll be doing that. I was 14 at the time when the 2013 released and reluctantly chose Jabbas sail barge instead. Had I known at the time that the gunship would be stupidly expensive after retirement I would’ve chosen it and got the barge later but oh well.
2002 gunship was the first lego SW set i got as a kid. It was my gateway drug. Loved it, and I still have it, but unfortunately the stickers are cracking and peeling off. Such a great set tho.
I think all are cool in their own way, I only have the newest version, but at some point, I'd like to get the 2013 set or the first set, something about those OG clones
10 years ago for my 10th birthday I chose the 2013 Gunship over the AT-TE set that came out at the time. I really wanted both. So when it came to Xmas and I asked for the AT-TE I was upset to hear it was already out of production (I was young and wasn’t informed on Lego and when exactly they released new waves and stuff) (now that I’m thinking about it it might’ve been the Gunship for that years Xmas and the at-te for my birthday the next year) 10 years later I’m so glad I chose the Gunship. It’s the best looking, and best overall Gunship. In addition to Lego releasing a basically identical AT-TE to the 2013 one. And now I can finally have both. I was so happy the AT-TE had the same cockpit build as I thought that was perfect with the older one. I remember staying up late while on holiday to order it online the day of its release and annoyed at slow lodge Wi-Fi
@MandRproductions LEGO should've had this idea in mind. While I prefer the idea of a printed kama, they still half-assed it. For the thin sliver of a print, what they should have done is keep the cloth and that print. The thin print would be something to fall back on if the cloth is either lost or ruined.
The only thing that imo could be improved on the 2013 model is to hide the handle better or make it white and to better cover the technic going through the middle or make it white as well. Then youd have the perfect playset thats an amazing display piece as well
I luv mixing bad-guys, especially when colors match across trademarks, so Blue Mandelorians are Cobra, but this just Screams CRIMSON GUARD. If Lego hadn't been so crappy with the Advent Calendar Fox & ONLY TWO MORE TROOPS I'd get this, but as is, it's insulting.
2013 will always be my favorite, but one thing you have to give props to lego for is releasing a clone wars era Padme and Palpatine in the most recent iteration. Before this, I'm fairly certain you hsd to either get the venator playscale or Palpatine's arrest for a Palpatine figure, and Padme only came in the Malevolence set. The two shock troopers are really decent in my opinion, helmet holes being a moot point because it's lego. My biggest issue with minifigures in the most recent one is that Fox is supposed to be Thorn in the episodes from which it's featured. Despite this, I plan on getting the 2023 gunship for it's minifigures and for the tons of red pieces and republic Insignias that can be used for tons of Mocs. It's not a set that should be bought for accuracy, however it has a ton of value for getting moc bricks and minifigures for other clone wars era builds.
If lego were to make more Republic Gunship models in thr next few years. Would you prefer them to recolour the courascant guard gunship for consistency. Or would you rather a new, larger model with more details for another $20 (total $160)
You forgot to mention that the 2002 model can seperate the top and become a carrier gunship while dropping the base and troop carrier as it's own mobile base. That makes it the best play-wise to me. It's 2 sets in 1 in that way.
@@MandRproductions Yep. You showed it in your own review at 17:45. That's where I knew it from. ua-cam.com/video/FpwxiGt-kyk/v-deo.htmlsi=x7EEB2S8y-c4PeZI
Well if you actually saw the clone wars, then you would know that the clone wars version of the gunship doesn’t have that arch area, so that “cut out a piece of the gunship” is actually inaccurate. Also that isn’t just the Jyn Erso face, it’s also the Jane face from Marvel, who is played by the same person, at least the live action one. And there are helmet holes on the phase one helmets, use your eyes. True the helmet holes are above where they “should be” but clone visors never attached to those nubs, they attached further up on the helmet. The helmet holes are fine, Padme is fine. Stop complaining.
Lego and hasbro are very similar to me. Both generate more and more money every year and disappoint even more each year whilst increasing the prices drastically. It’s very sad

You put a ton of thought and perspective into this vid. I have 2 of the new ones but thats about it now i think. Wish i could get some of the 2013 ones at a decent price.
My head-canon for the CG gunship is that it's a more compact gunship and is used primarily as just transporting basic/not as important/smaller things. So that gives it purpose, in my opinion. I took the stud shooters off of it because that wasn't helping its design. However, the 2013 gunship is definitely the most accurate and best gunship out of the four, awesome set in general.
I fondly remember my 2008 gunship having 2 of the same bright red pieces for the wings, so one wing looked correct and the other looked like garbage because it was backwards. I guess they didn't do a check on quality control that day
I hate how much Lego relies on stickers instead of printed bricks these days. I recently bought the new Jurassic World T-Rex skull and the plaque on it is a sticker! CMON
I remember having a poster of the 2002 lego republic gunship. And just yesterday I made my young me's dream come true by getting the 2023 gunship. Even though it has less play features I can always make modifications to it and give it more play features.
I agree with everything you said except about the bubble gun on the Coruscant Guard gunship, because the coruscant guard gunship doesn't have bubble guns to sit in
I took a poll the other day where I asked every person on earth if they knew that M&R doesn’t like the helmet holes and amazingly every single person on planet earth knows, can we please be done now?😭 He could make a video about a death star poly bag from 2006 and he’d still find a way to bring them up, like, “I think the choice to use a sand blue piece for the dish was a bad choice, ALMOST AS BAD AS THE HELMET WARTS ON CLONES TODAY!!!”
I would have personally liked it if they had just done the 2023 gunship as a regular Minifigure scale model, only because It could’ve been nice for fans who don’t own the 2013 or 2008 Model. As nowadays those sets are worth a fortune, not just sealed but also used. If they were to ever make a regular gunship Lego could’ve done the same as what they did for the most recent AT-TE, which is: include maybe four or three regular phase one clone troopers, two clone pilots and maybe some B1 battle droid’s along with one Droideka
While I was watching this video, I had the idea that you could put up a picture of the real gunship from the side view and then compare the Lego gunships’ sideviews to it. That way we could really see the proportions. Also you mention that the 2023 gs does not have separable doors and that is a minus for accuracy (which is correct), but you don’t say anything about the 2003 gs’s front being able to open up and its hinges can be seen from the sides, which in my opinion are much larger inaccuracies. I think you were too harsh on the 2023 model, just look at the 2003 one. It is much less appealing than the 2023 model. It is more blocky, more studs are showing, inaccurate colors and primitive minifigures (which at the time were good, but today they look plain bad). So I would have ranked the 2023 gunship no lower than 3rd place and the 2003 gunship would definately be in the 4th place.
You forgot the splitting play feature for the 2002 Model. You can split the top section from the bottom. That makes it look like The LAAT/c. The Flying Transporter for the AT-TE. I loved that playing when i was an Kid.
But I think for different designs for the newer one is that we don't have a lot of features but it's in red. And there's been only really if you count the one Coruscant guard in the Battle pack. There's only 4 sets with Coruscant guards
I still really like the courosant gaurd gunship cuz it's my only one lol, I really live the design at the front and how sturdy it is. And the color scheme is amazing.
Ranking is fair, but what if you didn’t have a chance to get the 2013 model and you’ve wanted to get one for a while, do you think it holds up to what it should be, just comparing it to itself?
I knew I had bought one of the 2013 gunships at some point but I thought I had lost it before I got to build it. But I found it. Not only that, it was completely unopened. I feel like I struck gold.
I'm getting the 2023 gunship just because it's directly in my favorite color, and the added details look slick, like a lot of people here in terms of display I think the 2023 takes the cake, with second place being 2013 and so on (that and I do not feel like spending more then 200-300$ for a 2013 version or a MOC version)
I know the majority went for the 2013 version, and while I don't like TCW and I absolutely loathe the face prints on the 2008 version, as far as the build is concerned (which is what matters most to me), I would still take the 2008 over the 2013. I don't intend to buy ANY of these, though. The only Gunship I could see myself ever buying would be one that came in a colour scheme I love like black & purple or black & red. No idea if there's even any such colour scheme on the cartoons, though 😅
I don’t know why the mic doesn’t sound as good as it did on iMovie… 🙃
Doesn't matter. Fire vid anyway. 🔥🔥
Eh, sounds fine to me.

Still as good as a vid as normal
Maybe Mike didn’t like the vid idea.
The super battle droids are just such a good looking mold. I hope when we get them in the droid battle pack, they fix the clip breaking issue but nothing else!
Same, I don’t wanna get mismatched B2s.
I hope they make them shorter. Super Battle Droids are not supposed to be 8ft tall, they're only slightly taller than a person
Only other change I want is a printed red dot on the chest.
I just want better droid bending limbs

Personally, I think the 2002 Gunship has the best playability, as that front section would have been really fun to play with as a kid.
A very inaccurate feature of course but very creative and unique.
As a former kid back in 2002, the front section was def awesome to play with! I still have the Gunship set, it’s somewhere in my storage boxes 😂
Yeah, I think that would’ve been fun too it’s just without a handle it could break easily while playing with

It’s a shame because all Lego needed to do was slightly update the 2013 model and put the coruscant guard scheme on it. Would’ve been an amazing set.
Okay sheep
2002 was my favorite lego set as a kid. Was the crown jewel of my childhood collection. I can't argue it being better than the 2013 set, but Lego doesn't really give us sets like this anymore, because of battle packs and stuff. 2002 will always hold a special place in my heart.
I love the play set comparison. The features are sometimes so ramdom. :)
Not anymore :(
@@MandRproductionsUnfortunately, they aren't
I can see why all the others are great but the 2013 one always holds a place in my heart. It was the first “big Lego set” I got.
Was my first big Lego set as well. Still got it on display
My personal favourite is the 2013 but the 2023 gunship was my first so I really like that one as well
I'm glad you finally did a comparison of the gunships, I was waiting for it! Awesome video 👍
Cool and all but wheres the microfighter and battlepack version comparison at???
"moot point" is the phrase, not "mute point".
love the reviews - highlight of my week 😅🎉
That thumbnail was sharp as hell.
@@thatoscarguy9965 Thars why I am so happy I chose the 2013 AT TE and gunship over the rancor pit and jabbas sail barge
the CG gunship is so unimaginative compared to the 2008 there’s so much less going on it’s quite lifeless actually
2002 gunship was the first lego SW set i got as a kid. It was my gateway drug.
Loved it, and I still have it, but unfortunately the stickers are cracking and peeling off. Such a great set tho.
Askmandr: How come you wanted the holes for The phase 2 clones but now you hate them?
I asked for pizza and then the pizza came burnt and soggy.
I've been looking forward to this
And I've been procrastinating lol
@@MandRproductions Don't worry the video quality is really good
I really love the 2013 gunship it’s so accurate and BEAUTIFUL
I have the 2002 one and am contemplating selling it. But its pretty well used.... I might sell it but hold onto the figs.
Great vid, keep up the good work
I think all are cool in their own way, I only have the newest version, but at some point, I'd like to get the 2013 set or the first set, something about those OG clones
10 years ago for my 10th birthday I chose the 2013 Gunship over the AT-TE set that came out at the time. I really wanted both. So when it came to Xmas and I asked for the AT-TE I was upset to hear it was already out of production (I was young and wasn’t informed on Lego and when exactly they released new waves and stuff) (now that I’m thinking about it it might’ve been the Gunship for that years Xmas and the at-te for my birthday the next year)
10 years later I’m so glad I chose the Gunship.
Hot take but I like the no waist capes because it is easier to move the clones legs also helmet holes don’t look that bad.
Just don’t put them on when building.
@MandRproductions LEGO should've had this idea in mind. While I prefer the idea of a printed kama, they still half-assed it.
For the thin sliver of a print, what they should have done is keep the cloth and that print. The thin print would be something to fall back on if the cloth is either lost or ruined.
GUNSHIP AHOY!!!!!!
Overall a good video and I mostly agree but I feel like it is to subjective with to much nostalgia talking.
The only thing that imo could be improved on the 2013 model is to hide the handle better or make it white and to better cover the technic going through the middle or make it white as well. Then youd have the perfect playset thats an amazing display piece as well
the helmet holes are for customisation the whole point of Lego is to make things and customise them your way
They literally ruin the helmet profile
kinda makes sense
For me, I have so much nostalgia for the 2008 Gunship, it’ll always be the best one for me
I got the 2002 because my uncle gave it to me and it hurts that he didn't mention the capability of saperating the transpotrt section from the rest.
Unpopular opinion: people are too harsh on the new 2023 gunship
that’s a popular opinion tho
@mastercreas5774 it's still trash and small
If a private company can make better figs and sets, then Lego has no room to defend, or point to make.
agreed
True
Love your videos ! Keep it up
Hey ryan, will you ever build the secret lego melovalance (hope i spelled that correctly) set from the quest of r2-d2 game?
If lego were to make more Republic Gunship models in thr next few years. Would you prefer them to recolour the courascant guard gunship for consistency. Or would you rather a new, larger model with more details for another $20 (total $160)
Battle of umbara model, with actual floodlights?
I have 2 Gunship 2013 (and UCS Gunship )
Think, this version the best play model in Lego now )
You forgot to mention that the 2002 model can seperate the top and become a carrier gunship while dropping the base and troop carrier as it's own mobile base.
That makes it the best play-wise to me. It's 2 sets in 1 in that way.
It can?
@@MandRproductions Yep. You showed it in your own review at 17:45. That's where I knew it from.

I love that side sticker on the 2008! soooooo cool with the bombs etc
Hol up, am I the only one who thinks commander thorn would've been a great choice for the newest gunship?
Imagine a 200 dollar gunship that included the droid ships in that scene too, plus alotta commando droids.
Thumbnail goes hard. 2013 is peak, just built one recently 🙌
Thank you my guy Piercyn worked hard on that one!
You can fit in weapons and some supplies in the 2023 gunship

It’s ridiculous how many bootlickers say we shouldn’t have any issue with how much Lego’s been cheaping out recently
Same type of peeps that prolly believe both political parties are not in this together, and aren’t trying to subvert trick and manipulate us. And government good.

I just love the extra details in plo koon’s gunship. Heat features and paint jobs!
You put a ton of thought and perspective into this vid. I have 2 of the new ones but thats about it now i think. Wish i could get some of the 2013 ones at a decent price.
I rarely see em under 200 let alone 250
My head-canon for the CG gunship is that it's a more compact gunship and is used primarily as just transporting basic/not as important/smaller things. So that gives it purpose, in my opinion. I took the stud shooters off of it because that wasn't helping its design.
However, the 2013 gunship is definitely the most accurate and best gunship out of the four, awesome set in general.
I agree, but I changed mine up to have some of those features, and they’re just small adjustments that add a lot to the coruscant gunship
the 2013 Gunship was my second favorite set I owned as a kid - my favorite being the millenium falcon I have
What a video! Great video & content keep it up!🔥🤙
I fondly remember my 2008 gunship having 2 of the same bright red pieces for the wings, so one wing looked correct and the other looked like garbage because it was backwards. I guess they didn't do a check on quality control that day
I hate how much Lego relies on stickers instead of printed bricks these days. I recently bought the new Jurassic World T-Rex skull and the plaque on it is a sticker! CMON
On the in universe coruscaunt gunship there actually isn’t a spot for clones to fit in on the wings
I remember having a poster of the 2002 lego republic gunship. And just yesterday I made my young me's dream come true by getting the 2023 gunship. Even though it has less play features I can always make modifications to it and give it more play features.
I agree with everything you said except about the bubble gun on the Coruscant Guard gunship, because the coruscant guard gunship doesn't have bubble guns to sit in
My brother got the 2013 one from my grandparents
I took a poll the other day where I asked every person on earth if they knew that M&R doesn’t like the helmet holes and amazingly every single person on planet earth knows, can we please be done now?😭 He could make a video about a death star poly bag from 2006 and he’d still find a way to bring them up, like,
“I think the choice to use a sand blue piece for the dish was a bad choice, ALMOST AS BAD AS THE HELMET WARTS ON CLONES TODAY!!!”
As long as Lego keeps putting them in sets that don’t need them I have to talk about them.
I would have personally liked it if they had just done the 2023 gunship as a regular Minifigure scale model, only because It could’ve been nice for fans who don’t own the 2013 or 2008
Model.
The Lego Star Wars designers need to stop watching empire strikes back. They take the Yoda quote “size matters not” too seriously
You forgot the splitting play feature for the 2002 Model. You can split the top section from the bottom. That makes it look like The LAAT/c. The Flying Transporter for the AT-TE. I loved that playing when i was an Kid.
Amazing thumbnail ryan!
The 2008 gunship is missing the dark red stripe on the top windscreen. Just fyi!
Guess mine didn’t come w the sticker when I bought it but I’ll get one thank you!
Ranking is fair, but what if you didn’t have a chance to get the 2013 model and you’ve wanted to get one for a while, do you think it holds up to what it should be, just comparing it to itself?
I miss having alternative builds on the back of the box.
I knew I had bought one of the 2013 gunships at some point but I thought I had lost it before I got to build it. But I found it. Not only that, it was completely unopened. I feel like I struck gold.
I waited for this video
I'm getting the 2023 gunship just because it's directly in my favorite color, and the added details look slick, like a lot of people here in terms of display I think the 2023 takes the cake, with second place being 2013 and so on (that and I do not feel like spending more then 200-300$ for a 2013 version or a MOC version)
Peak thumbnail 🔥🔥🔥
"If it's just a kid's toy, where are the play features?" Bro cooked
First two are the best!! :) ...great video
