    No other developer does a better job of creating tutorials that cover everything you need. Well worth watching and taking notes. **Tip: At 20:36, where the Ghost Track option for chords is demonstrated, you have to click past the numbers 1-16, and then you can select either Local or Global to show the notes from the chord track, and you might need to adjust the contrast settings to see the notes better - for that, long press Menu, and then try changing High Contrast and Invert Colors options if needed.

      Thanks Ed, I really should have pointed that out!!

    Thank you, Paul, for your innovations ic. midi and tonepackets, etc. The most difficult part in Helium for me now is the combination 'Chord - Cluster - Controlers Only' in (Global and Local) Chord Tracks; these are all combined in one properties-window, while they're 3 semi-different 'things' and it's not clear how they are interacting with each other. It would be much clearer for me if you made a seperate Controller Track (only Local?) with it's own properties-window, and that you combine Chords and Clusters as one editable Chord Track (every Cluster can be analysed as chord...). Hope this makes sense. Thank you very much again for your great work.

      It's not as difficult as it looks. Because the chord track is the root of a song contruction I thought it would be nice for these building blocks to also control pattern switching in DigiStix and other apps. Since we usually switch drum patterns on a chord change, the chord definition dialog was a perfect place to add these. It wasn't intended to carry normal CC controllers, that can be done elsewhere.

    Lil’ gem of function this Helium is. Thanks for this, plugged a few holes for sure. If we discover any presumable bugs, what is our course of action?

    Hey Paul,
    Could Helium detect chords drawn in? That would be a cool feature that would make it easy.
    Also another idea would be to have it draw chords based on the chord type selected. Like Major, Minor, Dorian, etc etc

      It you enable the ghost track, you can specify it render the actual notes in the edit area. If you have a chord that is not part of the library we supply you can draw your own as a MIDI cluster.

    Thanks for doing this Paul, while I don’t have Helium myself, it’s really good to see developers doing this, so many apps change from the original version thus making initial tutorials quite unhelpful

    Hey Paul
    Will you be adding scale highlights?

    • @PaultheMusicMan
      @PaultheMusicMan  3 місяці тому +1

      If you LONG press on the Time Sig button you can turn on scale highlighting.

    If you'd combine Helium and multitrack recorder, you would basically have an equivalent to cubasis 😮. A question; can each port have up to 16 different midi channels?

    • @PaultheMusicMan
      @PaultheMusicMan  3 місяці тому

      Yes it can, you can choose the port and channel by long pressing the Track button.

    Hi Paul, I'm encountering an issue with the chord track in AUM.
    The problem occurs when I set a loop point, especially while recording. The first chord played often sounds off, as if it's playing the wrong notes or too many notes simultaneously. Once this issue starts, it persists until I remove the loop point.
    Here are a few observations:
    - The issue arises regardless of whether the chord is set to cluster, chord, or controllers.
    - Occasionally, the chord will trigger the MIDI instrument for a track other than track 1.
    - The position of the loop point doesn't seem to influence the issue.
    Aside from this, I'm really impressed with the app and I appreciate these tutorials!

      What host are you running Helium under and what instrument are you triggering? Are you sending Notes or Tone Packets? Ensure the chord track is set to ON and not 1/4, 1/8 or 1/16 or you will have issues with looping. Also long press the MENU button and ensure Adv Timing is enabled and that your DAW's Buffer Size is 256 (ideal) or 512.

    • @Drvortext
      @Drvortext Місяць тому +1

      I have it running in AUM with buffer size 256 and the instrument is Pianoteq. I’m sending notes, Adv timing is on and chord track is set to on. I’ve got track 1 on solo and can see it playing extra notes on the Pianoteq keys. Seems to happen more often past the first 4 bars. Once it happens, it continues to play the incorrect set of notes, even if I move or delete the chord.
      Should I record a video?

      @@Drvortext If you can please send me a video link to info at 4pockets dot com. if you can let me know the make and model of your device and the iOS version it will help, and let me see the chord track settings as you never confirmed the most important thing, the chord track anticipation setting. It's always hard tracking these things down so the more you can give me the better. Also is AUM the one driving the MIDI clock?

    Each track automatically plays on the corresponding Midi channel? Track 1 on 1, Track 2 on 2, etc. ? Or where do I set the Midi channel for a track?

    • @PaultheMusicMan
      @PaultheMusicMan  2 місяці тому +1

      I cover this in both MasterClass videos. Pressing the Track button allows you to select a track, long pressing the Track button allows you to set the output port and channel for the track.

      @@PaultheMusicMan Thanks for the direct reply, highly appreciated! Really great idea to create this to live inside AUM, bought it a couple of days ago and will use it as a sketchpad when practicing and improvising, and then I can simply export the midi into my MPC or DAW! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
