    That is some difference in the oil over 3yrs and not with everyday use. Good to keep on top of these things and prevent wear to the (expensive) gearbox internals/ancillaries. A top tutorial with excellent camera work as usual. 👍

      Wow, for reals, dude. Exactly what I thought. I need to do that service on mines asap. Lets get wrenching!

      I was really surprised how bad it looked. It’s been about 4 years but I’ve not done a huge amount of Km’s in that time. I guess the SMG brutally quick shifts takes it’s toll on the oil, it definitely looked worn out

    Any tips for preventative maintenance on a recently purchased 2009 e63 M6? The car has 53K kilometres with clean OM maintenance? I am only doing a battery swap and thermostat (error cane up on scanner)

    I had to replace all the hardware holding my undertrays on my M5 due to corrosion, it still shocks me that high end cars like these still had corners cut.
    Even your exhaust bolts are like new.
    Maybe i need a better climate also.
    A trick i use when flushing the smg fluid is to let the waste settle in a long container (the sedement goes to the bottom, pour the fluid into another container so you only get the cleaner fluid and then use this to flush the smg again, you will be shocked how much still comes out black, you can repeat this a few times untill the fluid comes out clean then use the new bought fluid.
    keep up the great videos tho and thanks for making them.

    Great video! I have asked my BMW service advisor a few times about changing out the SMG oil and he recommends strongly to just leave it alone. Normally they are very happy to take my money so it's pretty weird that they don't want to do that job. Anyone know why they are sticking to the "lifetime fill" idea? 2010 car with ~50K miles

    • @MTechGuy
      @MTechGuy  8 місяців тому +1

      There was no official service interval like diff & SMG gear oil. A good service advisor should be able to accomodate something like this though. It would be welcomed at our local dealer. The technicians have the info on what’s required, it’s basically part of the likes of a pump replacement anyhow. Just tell them you want the system depressurised/drained/refilled/bled and the level topped off as required and you’ll pay them for the time & CHF11S fluid

    Why didn't you replace the oil pan with filter? Please explain to me because I want to service the gearbox on my Bmw M6

    • @MTechGuy
      @MTechGuy  19 днів тому +1

      There is no oil pan or filter, it’s essentially a manual gearbox

    Hello. How are you? Can you please help me about this issue: my M5 car key does not work with the buttons; the car can be started with the key and there is no message on the dashboard about low battery. I did some research and it could be the fuse on the glove compartment or the unit that receives the signal. Is there any provable cause of this malfunction? Thank you for your help and time?

    • @MTechGuy
      @MTechGuy  9 місяців тому

      Most likely the key battery has died-

    Hi could you tell me is there a difference in gear oil & transmission fluid for the m5 e60 thanks.

    • @MTechGuy
      @MTechGuy  6 місяців тому

      The SMG III takes gear oil in the gearbox, and hydraulic fluid in the hydraulic reservoir. I’ve put videos out previously on both procedures

    • @MTechGuy

      It caught me by surprise how worn out the oil looked. It’s been about 4 years since I last changed it, and I’ve not done a huge amount of Km’s in that time
