I disagree [SPOILERS BELOW] Sephy lead Cloud down a rabbit hole on purpose to use him and his party for the Black Materia, while also killing Aeris so she couldn't use the White Materia. Sephy did want Cloud's help in summoning Jenova, but it wasn't a "dear, can i have some sugar" kinda ordeal, but it was violent and unpredictable. I literally just finished the game recently, so events are still fresh in my mind.
Since Vincent and Sephiroth share coding in the original game, you can use an editor to put Sephiroth in your party, save your game, change Sephiroth back to Vincent, reload the save, and Vincent will have the Masamune handgun. Masamune handgun won't have the mug glitch, but it makes Vincent's mug animation extremely satisfying.
People on 4chan still argue with me to this day but I still feel there is strong, strong evidence in the original game that ties into 7R that suggests that Sephiroth originally died in the NIbelheim incident and that throughout the events of FFVII and AC it's Jenova pulling the strings on everything.
He did technically die in Nibelheim. Square already confirmed that within the Ultimania. He could still interact with and control “Sephiroth clones” from the lifestream, however, as he didn’t allow himself to assimilate to/with the lifestream and still lives within the planet (while he essentially resurrects and enhances his body using the lifestream within the Northern Crater) Whenever it’s a time you fight a piece of Jenova, it’s her body part instinctively taking on Sephiroth’s image, will, memories, etc. Her remnants are robotically acting upon his will, as she was defeated by the Cetra and is no longer living like she was 2000 years ago. Anytime it has to do with the black cloaked figures (also known as “Sephiroth clones”), it’s Sephiroth himself hijacking their bodies to act his will upon the events of the story. However, his true physical form/body is always within the Northern Crater throughout the entirety of the game. But even then, you could say Sephiroth is “infected” by Jenova. It is why his insanity continues to drive him in the original after he learned of his true origins. In Remake, it has clearly been shown within the Japanese language that Sephiroth this time is not infected by Jenova’s virus or influence. If you’ve never heard the terms, look up “Wastashi Sephiroth vs Ore Sephiroth”. Super interesting. All this information can be found within the Ultimania Omega. English speakers like myself had to go through the grueling process of placing its content through translation programs to get this information 💀 But it was worth it 👌🏼
@@miki49 Thing is while I understand the Ultimania is regarded and all that there is no official English translation as you said so there is bound to be some wiggle room as to what is going on with the whole Sephiroth deal. I do not buy into the idea that he is still in control of his own body or is even doing anything FROM the Lifestream. If anything, due to his genetics from I believe having an Ancient as a mother but not being a "pure blood Cetra" like Aerith is, the lifestream does not consume his consciousness, but he does not have power over it like Aerith does. I certainly believe that Jenova still is in complete and utter control no matter what. Whenever individuals cite Sephiroth's "willpower" and that he is in control seem to forget that it only took him a WEEK to lose his shit and murder an entire village because of "Mother". I do remember that they have stated that the Lifestream itself purges or "rejects" all of Jenova's cells which is why in the Remake, (spoilers) At the end where Cloud is facing down Sephiroth again I firmly believe that is Sephiroth's consciousness riding the lifestream and may play a pivotal part in defeating Jenova once and for all as he knows he was manipulated and used by it to try and destroy the planet until Cloud killed him in Nibelheim.
@@codynoth4183 The translation says what it says while I even cross referenced crucial parts regarding Sephiroth and Jenova specifically to a Japanese fluent friend of mine. There is no wiggle room, and it doesn’t matter to me what you “buy”. There’re people out there who still believe the earth is flat, or that the sun revolves around the earth. I could care less. But I will still spread the accurate information. If you haven’t ever heard of “Ore Sephiroth vs. Watashi Sephiroth”, I suggest you look it up. Simply put, it’s a difference in Japanese pronouns that separates the Sephiroth who is fully in control of his faculties (Ore- before he learned his origins) and the Sephiroth who, after becoming mentally vulnerable when having a difficult time accepting his origins, finally became susceptible to the Jenova cells he was carrying (Watashi Sephiroth). They then began to infect him as he cracked, no different to Cloud and his breaks. The Jenova cells within Cloud made him mirror a false personality, Zack’s personality, due to his own personal lack of self esteem and personal failure. With Sephiroth, the Jenova cells within him made him continue to mirror his false (more like misunderstood) existence because he had no other guide to follow but Jenova’s, as Gast mistakingly believes Jenova to be a Cetra. She is not. And Sephiroth respected Gast’s words way more than he did Hojo’s, so he continued to believe he was an Ancient who was wronged when that is flat out incorrect. In both cases, they “mirror” these falsities because that is how the power of Jenova acts when within humans in this world. It creates deception through false realities and half truths (something Sephiroth himself embraces when deceiving Cloud, and the player, in the original). Jenova is no longer living like she once was and, even when she was 2000 years ago, was never able to “pull any strings”. The fact that her existence in FF7 is different than it was 2000 years ago is clearly stated by Nojima himself, the original writer, within the Ultimania. That’s a fact, perfectly irrefutable by the man who wrote this fiction and created the rules of this unique world (accompanied by a party of great developers as well of course). What Jenova used to do was shapeshift to the likes of the Cetra’s past loved ones, deceive them to close proximity, and infect them into monsters. She was never able to “puppet” them. It’s only Sephiroth who can hijack bodies for control, as he is something Jenova isn’t, a human who inherited Jenova’s abilities. Also, they’re called “Sephiroth clones” for a reason. He takes them over. Page 212 of the Ultimania Omega actually shows which sightings are Sephiroth and which are “Jenova”. In the case of Sephiroth sightings, again as I’ve already stated, it’s not Sephiroth’s real body (that’s within the Northern Crater), but him hijacking the bodies of those with Jenova cells who have been mentally broken, and are susceptible to that control that Sephiroth could only have because he was bred from birth with Jenova cells. He is essentially her heir and can use what he inherited as a human. Anytime you see “Jenova” in FF7, it’s her body parts instinctively taking Sephiroth’s form, memories, will, etc. to do what she was created and programmed to do, and mimicking Sephiroth is a great means to reaching that goal of hers. She no longer exists as sentient as she used to, the same way the Cetra don’t exist the same way they used to, but still exist. She is alien-matter and has shown that she doesn’t completely die, but she no longer exists like she did and with the power/freedom she did 2000 years ago. The most influence she can have is acting side by side with Sephiroth, as he is already believing her to be his cheated mother. Jenova wouldn’t even need to “pull any strings” at this point if Sephiroth already believes she’s his mother that he’s wanting to avenge and take back the planet for. Her cells clearly changed him once he became susceptible when he couldn’t accept his beginnings, giving him headaches and mental breaks in the Nibelheim Shinra mansion akin to the headaches and mental breaks Cloud exhibited after he was tested on. It’s all there clearly laid out. Also, what’s your point about him taking a week to go crazy? What’s that have to do with anything regarding his willpower keeping him from assimilating to the lifestream? You’re mixing two completely unrelated things up, two things that happened at different times and at different locations. Also, it’s Nojima who clearly states it’s Sephiroth’s will that keeps him from assimilating to the lifestream, not just “individuals who cite” it (again, one of the main men who made all the rules in this universe). His will keeping him in the lifestream after he died in Nibelheim has nothing to do with his getting infected by Jenova within the Shinra mansion. Going crazy is a sickness, just like Jenova cells invading the body is a sickness. You can’t “will” yourself to not get sick, whether it’s sickness of insanity or a fever. Lastly just a small point, but Sehiroth is not the only one who can choose to not assimilate fully to the lifestream. It has nothing to do with him having Jenova cells, as all SOLDIERS have Jenova cells and can go back to the lifestream just fine. Anyone who can be called a “lost soul” or “ghost” in our world can be seen as the same, one who didn’t allow themselves to fully succumb to the afterlife. Whether you believe in that or not (I personally don’t), I’m just using that as a metaphor to explain that other’s within this world, not just Sephiroth, could choose to not assimilate to the lifestream and willfully fight against that assimilation. You can find that information in Nojima’s “On the way to a smile” book.
@@codynoth4183 While I agree with most of your final paragraph, it cannot be denied that Sephiroth was normal before he spent a week reading Gast’s findings within the Shinra mansion and only lost himself after that point. The Jenova cells in him were completely dormant before that point. And I had to give you all that information about Sephiroth and Jenova to articulate the nuance of their nature. It’s not simply “she’s controlling him like a puppet and he has no control over his actions”. It’s something much larger that has to do with how Jenova cells affect those within this world and how Sephiroth was so intimately tied to Jenova, being born of her from the ground up, so much so to the point that he inherited her nature. They’re partners at best. You fight both of them at the end after all, where he is the final boss even after she’s defeated.
I still want to fully believe that Vincent is sephiroths father. The time line with the both of them seems to fit too perfectly and I can see the mad scientist not wanting to waste his time and used Vincents's cells to make sephiroth.
You left out that Sephiroth is 6 foot 1 in the original FFVII (according to the game's manual), but in Remake his character model is taller than Barret, making him at least 6'6" - 6'7". That's quite a big height upgrade. I'm only 6'1, wish I could be six inches taller!
@@theredangel8 Darth Vader is about 6'8" with his helmet, so you're absolutely right. 6'1" may be tall in Japan, but in the West it's average for a guy. Sephiroth is a genetically engineered superhuman so it stands to reason he would be super tall. Other superhumans such as Master Chief from the Halo series and Kratos from God of War stand close to 7 foot, so Sephiroth would actually look small in their company!.
in the late 90's i didn't play video games('i was too young' said my parents), i didn't own a Playstation, i couldn't speak English, i was going from kindergarten to primary school, i didn't know anything about RPG's or Final Fantasy (none of my friends or family played it), didn't know the meaning of those words, BUT i DID KNOW of the guy with the long silver hair and the super long sword, that's how you know something is iconic (like Mickey Mouse or Batman)
Sepheroth is a true hero! Those who claim otherwise are spreading fake news! We will not submit to intimidation or violence but work together for peace and prosperity. That is how civilized people change the world!
Back in the 90's I got FF7 in launch. The first time I played the game I somehow had the impression that Sephiroth died in the flashback scene and it was always Jenova pulling the strings, took Sephiroth 's form to manipulate Cloud and she simply used his body that was awakened in Disk 2...
God I hope he's actually playable in Rebirth. And on another note, I think FF7R's battle system would play really well in a multiplayer class-based system (Not like FF15s where you had to deal with weapon switching mechanics).
Fun little Sephiroth/Superman connection. My daughter was not much older than 2 when she pointed to Superman in a book and asked if that was Sephiroth lol. No, they didn't look a lot a like lol but it was an alphabet book, so she got the letter right...and I told her she was close because Seph has always been MY Superman.
15:14 Ok I'm definitely sure Sephiroth's hell gate move is different because I remember vividly it was one of the specially timed moves where he would jump high in the air and lunge down similar to how he got Aerith. Of course there's also a possibility that they're both different variations of the same move.
If memory serves it was a four move combo, a hilt strike, then a move to get behind them, then a move to jump and then to strike. It was both a pain and not quite worth the difficulty in terms of damage, as I remember.
Ah! So there WAS connection between Sephirot in the raids and the Sephiroth of 7, and onward. That's cool! I'd noticed the name, of course, but when I asked friends about it, no one was sure what was up, and no one seemed to find anything when they looked around. So - minor mystery answered!! Great video!

In terms of voice actors... wouldn't it be amusing if, in the future, Lance Bass voices Superman at some point so he can retroactively be added in the Sephiroth/Superman club? :P
The George Newbern one was a fun trivia I had heard about as well as his depiction of Nooj, a character that in hindsight is mostly an edgelord used to show some aspects of how war twists a person. And I remember reading abotu Tyler Hoechlin as Sephiroth's VA, his depiction of Superman in S&L is especially good. Sephiroth also has the added benefit of having the most character development for any FF final boss, save maybe Kefka. Every other final boss for the FF series just kinda shows up, usually in the final act (or close to it).

8. In dissidia and kingdom hearts and other appearances I don't think Sephiroths goal is purely evil. As much as it is cause trauma to cloud or even teach cloud. He almost acts less as an antagonist and more of teacher which is why I think it will be revealed later he was still good and manipulated by jenova
I always thought Erghize came before FF7 and also helped to raise the profile of the game. Didn't know it happened after...and had Zack! That was definitely something I never knew, thank you! But it's been confirmed that when Sephiroth entered the Lifestream, he became so powerful to the point where Jenova couldn't control him... in fact, he managed to mind control HER which is why she's constantly going along with his plans. Jenova just wanted to destroy all life, Sephiroth planned to merge with the Lifestream, make himself into a god and then search the cosmos for even more planets to absorb. Also, if Jenova was in control then why would she sacrifice her own body just before the fight with Sephiroth... ALSO also, how would Sephiroth concoct the plan in Advent Children to revive himself using the Jenova cells and a semi-clone of himself if Jenova was in control the whole time? This theory really just makes no sense.
Never knew there was a tekken like fighting game that has some of the FF7 characters and I like how voicing sephiroth must also be or voice superman haha
To think, it took a series of Supermen( of all nationalities) to breath life into Sephiroths chilling voice! Just adds to the awesomeness factor to our One Winged Angel!
...The fact that ppl were so freaking obsessed with whether or not Sephiroth had nipples or not...kinda depresses me... I dunno It just... seemed like such a weird thing to wonder about.... Welp, at least we know that the answer was yes?
I of course knew all these 🤭. Also fun fact, Jenova and Sephiroth are very much best on Christian religion/mythology. God and Jesus. It's not something surprising as one would notice in a lot of japanese culture we seem to big fans of using Christianity bc I guess we think it's cool! You definitely see it in a lot of anime and video games
I cannot find quotes for these online (maybe because I don’t know Japanese and cannot search Japanese pages), but 2 facts (or pseudo facts) I heard: 1) Sephiroth, although not at full power and using Kadaj as a host, was much stronger in ACC than in FF7. 2) Sephiroth uses his sword with his left hand, since he’s a lefty. But if Sephiroth wants to be serious, like in ACC, he will use his sword with his right hand. Any help with these? (Hopefully you have legitimate sources!)

He could still interact with and control “Sephiroth clones” from the lifestream, however, as he didn’t allow himself to assimilate to/with the lifestream and still lives within the planet (while he essentially resurrects and enhances his body using the lifestream within the Northern Crater)
Whenever it’s a time you fight a piece of Jenova, it’s her body part instinctively taking on Sephiroth’s image, will, memories, etc.
I do remember that they have stated that the Lifestream itself purges or "rejects" all of Jenova's cells which is why in the Remake, (spoilers)
At the end where Cloud is facing down Sephiroth again I firmly believe that is Sephiroth's consciousness riding the lifestream and may play a pivotal part in defeating Jenova once and for all as he knows he was manipulated and used by it to try and destroy the planet until Cloud killed him in Nibelheim.
The Superman and Sephiroth thing makes a couple of jokes I’ve heard over the years make a lot more sense.
I still want to fully believe that Vincent is sephiroths father. The time line with the both of them seems to fit too perfectly and I can see the mad scientist not wanting to waste his time and used Vincents's cells to make sephiroth.
I always like thinking about that possibility myself. The OG FFVII doesn’t technically give us “proof”, only Hojo’s word (whatever that’s worth)
You left out that Sephiroth is 6 foot 1 in the original FFVII (according to the game's manual), but in Remake his character model is taller than Barret, making him at least 6'6" - 6'7".
That's quite a big height upgrade. I'm only 6'1, wish I could be six inches taller!
I think that height is suitable for an antagonist, definitely an intimidating stature 6'6"-7"
THankyou for your support

Me: This ought to be good.
FFU: Sephiroth's NIPPLES!
Me: Um.
Love that you included the Superman connection. I didn't know it extended to Japanese actors.
He did technically die in Nibelheim. He could still interact with and control “Sephiroth clones” from the lifestream, however.
God I hope he's actually playable in Rebirth. And on another note, I think FF7R's battle system would play really well in a multiplayer class-based system (Not like FF15s where you had to deal with weapon switching mechanics).
isn’t that what the First Soldier game is? I think it’s a mobile game but I don’t know for sure.
And here I wanted to know about his hair care routine 😏
Don't worry, we've got you covered: ua-cam.com/video/FQco-FgvaKY/v-deo.html
Huh, so I wonder when we can expect to see Henry Cavil voice Sephiroth.
You know he'd be down too
After seeing him play Geralt (The Witcher), I can definitely imagine him voicing Sephy.
The "does Sephiroth have nipples" question definitely seems like something started by Sephiroth fangirls
If he does, are they human nipples or does he have that Jenova eye boob thing that everyone is raving about? I'm asking for scientific reasons.
Seeing as the Masamune is like an ultimate weapon, think Sephiroth had to go on a big side quest to get it?
Ehrgeiz is awesome. I was in the official tournament back in 99.
Superman is my favorite hero and sephiroth my favorite FF villain, never even thought of how they've shared voice actors.
Iirc in dissidia, he is the one who realized or remember the previous cycle of the conflict because he killed himself instead being defeated. Hence when the villains n heroes are revived back for the next cycle, he's been trying to tell Cloud abt the conflict but Cloud rejected him.
I'm still so upset George was recast
Rick and George got the roles of Zack and Sephiroth BECAUSE of X-2.
Sephiroth's VA is the biggest downgrade since FFT to FFTA.

Weird obscure fact: The only other person to wield Sephiroth's Masamune was Tifa
A super obscure fact is that he prefers his friends to call him sephdawg.
I was gonna put my ~Thank You~ that I always put, don't want people thinking I'm a bot so with that explanation out the way. Thank You!.
I just got my Play Arts Kai 12in Sephiroth figure today. Good timing!
Riddle me this, riddle me that. If the Masamune is strong for a fact, why can't Sephy use it off the bat? He always uses magic instead of the sword when you encounter him.
Wow that superman connection is really kool
In terms of voice actors... wouldn't it be amusing if, in the future, Lance Bass voices Superman at some point so he can retroactively be added in the Sephiroth/Superman club? :P
As much as I'd like to hate that idea, I say we make it happen.
Did not know about Toshiyuki Morikawa's dubbing of Lego Movie Superman, but I haven't seen the English version either
I didn't know Superman was Sephiroth
My favorite part if Jaws is when we find out we've been following JAWS mother the whole time!
Sephiroth also has the added benefit of having the most character development for any FF final boss, save maybe Kefka. Every other final boss for the FF series just kinda shows up, usually in the final act (or close to it).
A game plauing as Sephiroth could be amazing.

Legacy of Kain: Soul Reiver.
Legend of Zelda
It could be a good RPG and/or Horror game...
Kind of hard to make a challenging game when you're playing as the guy who one hits dragons.
@@Randomguy-sn1yz Fair enough. But he didn't start that way. He was a legendary SOLDIER.... war hero... He only learned of the project in his adulthood. his upbringing must be difficult. So to be able to see the otherside of the coin could be interesting.
Also, the obsession with the man's chest is rather hilarious, lol. I figured he was covered for censorship/decencey's sake. Shirtless men in anime and manga more often than not usually don't have nipples so I always just figured he fell into that trope.
Very interesting! But even more so very well constructed and written. I can't put my finger on it but I sense an artistic/creative advancement here.
"Ehrgeiz" can be translated as "Ambition"
Also, the Z in Ehrgeiz is pronounced as ts, not s
It’s cool that nobuo also composed for smash bros brawls theme
Whoa! I did not know that Sephiroth is voiced by various Superman actors!? 🤯
Of course sephiroth best ff villain (opinion). But do we not have that same wrathful feeling when Seymour tried to wed our beloved yuna?? (Fact)
I loved Ehrgeiz. My favorite fighter was Django who I always hoped would appear in another game somewhere since he looked a lot like petrified Seto. I really enjoyed the RPG mode too which I always felt was very underrated.
That 100% critical hit may be a slight reference to Frog's Masamune from Chrono Trigger. Though it doesn't 100% critical in CT it does have a pretty high crit rate.
How the heck did I not know that Lance Bass has voiced Sephiroth????

Why wouldnt Sephiroth have nipples? His parents are Hojo/Lucrecia, both of which are humans.
Hear me out.
In the end, the Jenova cells took over, and the villain is the consciousness of Genova. Therefore sephie isn't the villain you hype up.
He was literally an entity made up to trick you for a large portion of the game, not even the real sephies
We should also take note that, Cody Christian, who voiced Cloud and Tyler Hoechlin were casts of Teen Wolf.

I cannot find quotes for these online (maybe because I don’t know Japanese and cannot search Japanese pages), but 2 facts (or pseudo facts) I heard:
1) Sephiroth, although not at full power and using Kadaj as a host, was much stronger in ACC than in FF7.
2) Sephiroth uses his sword with his left hand, since he’s a lefty. But if Sephiroth wants to be serious, like in ACC, he will use his sword with his right hand.
