Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII ended up being the final part of the initial Compilation of Final Fantasy VII and when it arrived on the PSP it was well regarded. I remember getting a PSP just for this game alone and it was completely worth it, it's the only game that's ever made me cry at the ending without fail no matter how many times I've played it 😆

Man, I wished Crisis Core would receive a proper remaster rather than the upcoming 'Ever Crisis' mobile game, but at least Before Crisis is finally being localized worldwide of sorts.

The Loveless fact is absolutely nuts. I've 100%'d CC more times than I care to admit and I've never even noticed that Apocalypse has words in the rune.

Back when this game came out I too started quoting "Loveless" like Genesis. A one time bully of mine knew where it was from and we bounded over a shared love of FF games.

Even though I cleared Crisis Core and FF7, I am today years old to know that Emerald weapon makes an appearance in the Crisis Core.
It was probably Sephiroths plan all along to put 'Activating Combat Mode' in there, to drive us all insane!

I can't believe out of all the FF game's that's been remade and remastered so far, Crisis Core hasn't been touched ONCE! ONCE! And it's a prequel to arguably one of the best RPGs of all time! And no remastered!? JESUS! As much as I am happy FFVIII FINALLY got the remastered treatment, THANK FREAKING LORD! It's time for Crisis Core to get it's chance now! I love this game SO MUCH!
In a way, I'm happy they've waited this long. Technology has only gotten better, so if they ever do remake it, it's going to look amazing and will have more time before it begins to look dated. However, they're doing a compilation game for Before Crisis, Crisis Core and Final Fantasy 7 for mobile and they may write it off as that being the "remake". I hope not, but also as as they've retconned the ending of Crisis Core for FF7R, it might not make sense to remake CC when its plot has been so heavily changed.
Umm... no, Final Fantasy VII Remake is a Reimagining and it made fun of Zack's story and importance.
After playing FFVIIR, I don't want them touching Crisis Core, to be honest.
I actually don’t want this to get remastered or remade. I want this to stay on the PSP and be exclusive to the PSP even though the PSP is dead.
I'm curious to know the reactions to the Crisis Core Remaster now that it has come to pass. Especially since it's just a straight-up remaster and not a remake.
Zack is clearly my favorite character in final fantasy as a whole. Im excited to see what the ff7 remake has in store for all the characters.
Zack's characterization was done really well given that we already knew what was going to happen. But honestly, the weakest part was Genesis and pushing Loveless as a core subplot. Though there is a theory that Loveless will be as involved in the Remake so I hope they do a better job this time around.
Genesis is the worst part of the entire compilation, bar none.
I personally think Genesis and his obsession with Loveless is Nomura saying to the fans, "See this? This is you."
What with all of our theorizing and endless rereading/rewatching/replaying the games to try to eke out some hidden meanings.
I always have a glimpse of hope that this masterpiece of a game will get remade or remastered.

Got a psp just for this game. After playing every FF mainline game and their corresponding prequel/sequels, I still think Crisis Core is my favorite FF
I remember noticing the changes to the Minerva statue back when I first played the game as I’d gotten a Japanese copy for my birthday and later an English one when it was released. Also the Emerald Weapon gave me a borderline jump scare when I first saw it as I’d just fought it recently at the time when I was a kid.
Have u played FF7R intergrade yet? There is something that I want to discuss with someone. Do u notice a flipping big ass robot in Shinra Tower. Might be designed by Scarlet (unfinished yet)

The section where you talked about uniforms settled an argument (in my favour) I was having with my brother about what 2nd class SOLDIERs wear so thank you for that.
The compilation taught me more about the world of FF7 than I really wanted to know. Crisis Core was cool when I first played it though.

Genesis rhapsodus is clearly a reference to the two leading bands of the 80s. Genesis and Queen.
Jumped straight into this!!!! Another great video guys!!! I only knew about the emerald weapon Easter egg so yet again learnt a lot of new stuff!!! I loved crisis core I remember getting my haircut like Genesis when I was a teen! I know right! But yeah I loved the lore building that crisis core brought to ffVII its not my favourite game in the series but it still takes me back to a time as a teen playing my PSP without a care in the world!!!
Probably one of the few games where a “supporting” character is more loved than the protagonist of the main series. Zack is very loved especially in Japan.
I just love the fact that Zack is alive in the remake when he tried to visit Aerith in the church again only to find her gone. There's a good chance he'll be playable in part 2.
No matter how many Plotholes and bad writing Crisis Core may have, Zack alone carries this game to be one of the greatest i've ever played.

This was one of my favorite games as a kid I first saw Zack in Kingdom Hearts BBS and wanted to learn more about him after buying the game it soon became the best game i ever played and the 2nd most played behind FF Dissidia Duodecim i had like a few thousand hours in that playing litterally every day from middle school up to the day i graduated high school
Here's a fun fact.im still replaying the game after countless play throughs and never gets old
A random fact about me and this game. Since its release, I went through a total of 5 copies of this game.
1st: Suffered scratches
2nd: I played to failure
3rd: I left on a plane and only realized after I was already out of the airport(it was in my PSP too...)
4th: Was a Russian copy a friend sent me. I left it with my sister.
5th: My current JPN copy I got while staying at Roppongi in Tokyo a few summers back.
I can't stress enough how much I love this game and wasn't the biggest fan of how they went back to it in the Remake. I wish this game had a remaster but iirc, due to Gackt's involvement, that's probably not going to be possible...
This was actually the first final fantasy game I’d ever played. I got really attached to Zack so the end hit really hard. It was also one of the first games I had played where a major character died too

I totally missed Emerald Weapon, very cool find, I also either missed or forgot about the line about always wearing pink and how that line connected to her wearing pink instead of white. Ugh my feels. :(
Crisis Core had a lot of problems with it's new characters and plot but it was really sweet to see what Sephiroth was like before he went insane and Zack ended up becoming my favorite FF protagonist.

How convenient! Just last night my friends and I were laughing about how bad at making games Tabata was which ended with us remembering that he did finish Crisis Core and we all love that game.
Crisis Core is the reason I wanted a PSP. I remember seeing the game bundled with the PSP around June or so. I convinced my mum to buy it for my birthday, and she did... but my birthday wasn't until September, so she stored it away in her wardrobe until my birthday. That's fair though, it was very expensive and she bought it on a whim.

I never knew they put so much detail in crisis core because of how everything is connected to the characters like the promises between aerith and zack. I never managed to play this game so some parts was a surprise to me haha keep up making this kinds of videos guys :)
Glad to see Loveless being expanded. Makes me wonder about it possibly being a subtle nod to the Opera scene in FF6 as well as just being a reference in general to Shakespeare I believe.

I wish Square Enix would put out a HD remaster of this on the Switch. This and Dissidia 012. Honestly the Switch just feels like the perfect place for HD remasters of PSP games. They'd have to do some work to them, but not the same amount of work that would be expected for a PS5/Xbox Series release.

I've heard there's been some legal issues involving the j-pop star (Gackt) they used for the voice and likeness of Genesis.
I think it’s more copyright issues with the end theme tbh. Genesis has been seen in other games occasionally such as FFRK (including his CG art on banners and other places), so I don’t think it’s Gackt or his likeness preventing it from being remade. Also, the end theme version of Why is not available on the albums as they are on Spotify and other places, so that might be what’s actually complicating things imo.
Seeing Dirge of Cerberus done well would make my life complete
I loved the atmosphere of Dirge, but damn it needs a full overhaul beacase that gameplay is terrible... Having a cool looking double jump is great, but if you can't jump over ankle high objects it's a bit of a design flaw.
Though at least they improved it slightly from the Japanese version, that's just beyond horrible to play.
Uhm... Have you not heard about the Ever Crisis? They announced it in February? They will make episodic mobile games from Before Crisis, Crisis Core, Oiginal FF7, Advent Children and Dirge of Cerberus. With chibi character and probably no voice acting....

Crisis core got me into Final Fantasy, I remember picking it up in the pre-owned section at my local game store for $30, thought why not fell in love with the series, after playing 7 proper as an adult with actual understanding of genetics, you realise how important Hojo is.
He states Jenovas cell's are used to help create the soldier first class fighters, so few of them actually survive it, I think it was taken from the trial of grasses from the Witcher Books which came out way before the games, I think they liked the concept and went with it.
In the final act of crisis core it emphasizes Cloud having open wounds, Jenova, Sephiroth and Zacks blood all entered him.
This fractured his mind, then there is an entire sub plot of restoring Cloud's mind in 7 proper.
Cloud was never a clone like the largely accepted theory say's.
Cloud went through the most brutal soldier creation they could think of.
However because the theory is widely accepted with little proof thanks to something Sephiroth says, I think the remakes are making the Clone theory canon.
He only has a connection because he has Sephiroths blood running through his viens, he even has Zacks who constantly gives him advice.
Jenovas just increase his physical strength.
What I think happened they never intended for people to think Cloud was a clone, Dolly the sheep just made international news when 7 was released.
So people in the schoolyard had cloning on their minds, Sephiroth states him and Cloud are the same, people just ran with it.
Hojo even states Cloud shouldn't exist, he tells you how it works, people ignored it, crisis core even shows it, people still stuck with the clone theory.

Crisis Core was one of the first three PSP games I got.
One complaint I have about Crisis Core. The One Winged Angel moniker was supposed to be for Sephiroth, which made him unique. When Angeal got one, I was still like "alright, I guess that's fine", then it was Genesis, and the final freakin' straw was when Hollander got that stupid batwing on his shoulder. It was like "come on guys, this is getting ridiculous."
I've played every FF title ever released, in the United States that is. I feel like I've missed out on so much extra content!
little known fact, the loveless poster in the original ff7 is an homage to the band my bloody valentines album loveless. It even says my bloody valentine on the loveless billboard in the opening cinematic
Aerith's pink dress really hits me deep now that i realized the meaning. I really hope in the remake she would fulfill the promise and meet Zack (no matter which timeline(?) He came from) Instead of letting the fate be set in stone and follow the original

FF CC is my first FF game that I played and because of this I got hooked to other series too! Zack for lifestream!
Did you know? Zacks death was retconned just to subvert your expectations and all you had to do is kill some ghosts, killing all stakes in the process now that people can just randomly come back to life.
I bought the PSP for this game and Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep. Never bought any other games for the consol at the time. Never regretted buying the consol solely for those 2 games....
I just want to say even if it's 9 days I freaking knew that the apocalypse move of Zack that there was something written in it but I really don't know what was written in there but I never knew that it would be connected to the final chapter of the loveless act. By the thank you for making this video because it really brings back my memories of playing this game
having played Crisis Core before FF7, it was..interesting.
As much as I love Crisis Core, the levelling system and the DMW in general always frustrated me. It was literally a slot machine and the only way to level was to beat enemies to get XP, and then get 777 in the DMW to use the XP to gain a level. I ended up playing through the entire game three times and while I had a buttload of XP, I had only gotten to level 56 because it was just so rare to actually get 777 for the level up. Hopefully, if they ever decide to revisit Crisis Core in either a remake or a remaster, they fix this issue.
I can remember that I read somewhere it before. The game has a hidden XP, and when you hit the needed XP to level up, the DMW will roll to 777.

@@adelseis Looking back at a walkthrough, I may have been mistaken. I could have sworn there was a yellow XP bar when you went into the DMW, but I guess I was wrong.

Can you do Lore video's about the locations in Final Fantasy, Esthar is my favourite final fantasy city and i think Esthar could have a standalone open world style game like Cyberpunk but actually good and with FF battles and Hitman espionage..
I think Esthar had quite alot of lore but its been so long since i played FFVIII.
There's so many locations it would make a great series imo :)
As great as this was, this just makes me wish this channel would do deep dives in to the entire Xeno series.
There's an absolute metric f*ck ton of "reading between the lines" type info on that series.
You've probably already seen it, but try Resonant Arc/ Dark Pixel's 20+ hour long deep dive on Xenogears. I think it's still ongoing and they're talking about everything.
@@12ealDealOfficial I've actually been playing along with their podcast. It's a great series they have going, especially their proficiency in Japanese that adds more to why a lot of the dialogue is the way it is.
On the subject of Dark Sector, it's been very confusing to ke why they don't cover Xenosaga and/or Xenoblade Chronicles 2.
I wish G and A got more screentime. I wouldn't not watch an expanded episodic series about their adventures. Seph gets enough tho
One part I always find interesting in Crisis Core, is how much Kunsel seems to know even though he’s just a SOLDIER 2nd class. He knows more than most other characters other than the Turks, and even pieced Zack being the escaped sample before Cissnei. I hope we get to find out how he knows so much since he was name dropped in the Remake.
Also glad he was a good friend of Zack instead of someone going after him. If Kunsel was an enemy, he would be dangerous with how much he knows.

I got a copy from eBay earlier this year. It's as good as I remember from the first time I played it.
Always felt that the reason why Zack wears Blue instead of the Purple 2nd Class was an internal ranking in the 2nd Class Soldiers. With Purple being Soldiers who were not due for a promotion and the Blue being those that were being considered. As to bring them forward and make it known to the Soldier that they are going to be important figures in the future if they were to be truely promoted. Thus why they were to wear a different colour and allowed to go about without their helms and such.
1st Class Soldiers were the Faces of Soldier, thus the 2nd Class Potentials were to get used to the fact that the populous were to know who they are at a glance and see them as more than just a Soldier...
I really want a remaster on modern consoles, there's no way I could ever get hold of a PSP and the game.

@@forgottenmoon985 it's not the same, and also my computer sucks at emulation, it struggles with 2D GBA games.
Glad to have soft modded my Vita so I could play a number of PSP exclusives again on it (using Adrenaline). The graphics are slightly worse off because the Vita has a bigger screen/different resolution, but not enough that it ruins the experience.
The vita resolution is literally double that of the psp so it should be an easy resize. Are there any sort of settings to adjust graphical fidelity in adrenaline ?
@@geoffreychauvin1474 well, I can disable bilinear filtering and achieve a less blurry result that is sharper, but just a little more pixelated. The blur effect from bilinear filtering seems to round things out (not as pixelated). I can choose from different resolutions or use a custom resolution (which I do, since the other options won't fill out the entire screen; I drag it to fill the whole screen). Other games look better depending on the style of graphics.
I can choose no adjustment or original resolution on PS1 games, but not on PSP games. Only issue there is you're playing on a square in the center of your screen that's comparatively small.
Overall, no real complaint. Vita graphics are in no way a deal breaker on the games I've played on it.
I use an emulator on my phone and a rom to play it. I need to dig out my old psp, see if it works, and order crisis core if I can.

You could try running it on a PC with PPSSPP. Doesn't require very high end hardware, personally looking forward to running PSP games on the Steam Deck when it's out.

Nope. Not the reason. The character model was Gackt. Nomura fell in love with Gackt and started stalking him. Gackt got a restraining order that included no remake of the game. While Ever Crisis is going to have a remake of Crisis Core, the character model will be changed. It had nothing to do with the voice actor.
