Can you help me with the squelch issue and the display issue
the 800 MHz band is where a lot of the action is these days in places that have switched to various digital systems, you'll find the first resonders often using p25 phase 1 and 2, also dmr has become used frequently here with amature and profesional users... its gotten so complicated since the 90s when I first got into it and trunking was a relatively new thing (believe me it was a nightmare at the time programing a uniden 235xlt, specfically to setup following trunking frequencies)
Nice review. My Radio Shack Pro26 stopped working, so I'm in the market for a new handheld. Nice to see this radio has a BNC antenna connector and from what I can tell the audio sounds great. (My only complaint about the Pro26 is the small speaker.) Does this radio include the military uhf/vhf bands? 225.00-384.00 frequencies? Is this radio still available on the market?
There is a newer model, the SR30C at Amazon amzn.to/3jbjkYn , adds 200 more channels but has same frequency ranges as this model. Speaker may have changed. The BC125AT is the one you want with the Military Aircraft Band, at Amazon: amzn.to/2S12UGi .

Would you be able to tell me whether this model you are doing the demo on would be the same for the model I was recommended, the Uniden Bearcat 125XLT and do you have a video for that model number, I can watch, please? I am a complete novice and newbie to plane spotting and would love a radio scanner to listen to ATC traffic and pilots, Thank you kind regards, Michelle xx
you search for stations then add them in to memory. then you scan the saved memories. you can do a customized search as well, here is a video explaining it: ua-cam.com/video/VIHMN28WV4g/v-deo.html
Weird.. my scanner that I have this exact same model, I tried plugging it in and using it with no batteries and it comes on and works but as soon as someone talks it shuts off immediately signifying there is not enough power.. also I got rechargeable batteries and put them in and started charging it and it has been going for roughly 5 hours or so and still shows the charg and battery icon on there, the book says it should be a blank screen when charged.. how long does it usually take? FYI these are brand new batteries so maybe they require a longer charge with first use?
Hi i have this exact scanner, for some reason I'm not getting any sound from it, not even a keypad beep, volume is up & squelch is down (no sound from low squelch either) can you help? Oh no tone when turned on or off also. I know it does work i just think I've changed something that I'm struggling to change back again.
I accidentally locked out some of the banks. How do I unlock it? Banks 5 6&8 are locked and I can't figure out how to unlock it. Please let me know how to get those banks running again.
I bought this scanner recently. I am quite disappointed. The reception with the stock antenna is really bad. Aside from the airband, I receive almost nothing else. The Baofeng UV-5R on the stock antenna has much better reception. I paid 130 dollars for the UBC75XLT. Should I invest into a better antenna or I should return it? Will it not overload on bigger antennas?

You have to have stored frequencies on that channel so they can be scanned. Press Scan then press the bank you wish to scan your saved channels. If your wanting to search for active frequencies then doing a Custom Search would be ideal: ua-cam.com/video/VIHMN28WV4g/v-deo.html
Hi, nice video. I also have a unit in BC 75XLT police handheld radio scanner. I love it. For the ease-of-use, and it’s compact size. I’ve had it for a little bit over a year,, In fact, I believe, two years since I had the scanner, and I love it. It took me a while, being a blind person, to figure out the button layout, and I was able to get my scanner up and running with some of my favorite frequencies. Yes, I know about the transportation services for schools, and other services, such as taxis. I really think that is pretty funny and how the school buses complain about either the kids are not doing what they supposed to do, or so one got left, or someone or, something got missed placed, etc. as a bonus, I put Rayovac rechargeable nickel metal hydride batteries in the scanner. And so far, it’s been a good experience with those batteries. I use a wall adapter rather than a computer, because a computer, charging devices will be quite slow. The only thing I wish, with all Uniden scanners, is that for some reason, when you have the scanner on, they will not charge. They will only power the scanner, when the device is active. They will only charge when they are off. Which is a bummer, because, I might want to listen to frequencies, and charge my scanner at the same time. I know that Whistler scanners can charge while the scanner is on. Otherwise, I don’t have any complaints about the scanner. Good video, and thanks for a good in-depth review.😂
Thank you Lamarcus, I had mine running last night when an ice storm hit. The men and women in blue were quite busy, along with the EMTs and towing crews.
So there is searching for active frequencies and then there is scanning your saved channels. If you scanning your saved channels you can tap the bank number to make it active or not. If your searching for active frequencies you can limit your search by using a Custom Search setup, which I go over in this video: ua-cam.com/video/VIHMN28WV4g/v-deo.html

@@todderbert Does it required downloading program via PC to operate?
@@self-reliancefarm6393 No. The program is nice to save your found channels.
Like your video, is there a way to turn off the buttons beeping without turning volume down
We are stuck with the beep. The model above BC125AT has the ability to turn it off.
Thought so, thanks for the reply
can you talk with that scanner or it is only to listening to
Hey do theses work in Canada? i was told they dont
They do, but may not pick up police signals.
Hello from the UK! Brit here needing help. I couldn't find a decent tutorial on the Uniden Bearcat 125XLT here in the UK. Your excellent video was recommended for me by youtube. Would you be able to tell me whether this model you are doing the demo on would
be the same for the model I was recommended, the Uniden Bearcat 125XLT and do you have a video for that model number, I can watch, please? I am a complete novice and newbie to plane spotting and would love a radio scanner to listen to ATC traffic and pilots, Thank you kind regards, Michelle xx
They are similar. the 125 allows naming, and has the military air band.
Thank you for your advice. I am going to order one xx 🙂
Are these digital because I heard you cannot use regular scanners any more because police and fire switched to digital frequencies?
I can still pick up fire in my area, my local PDs went digital encryption.
Thank You Tod, Great Video
Great rundown presentation on the Uniden, Thanks
I got a Twayrdio rh770 antennae, would this work on this scanner
Yes it should.
Is there a NOAA/Ham section.
Yes there is.
ua-cam.com/video/5_UyM6HcUz8/v-deo.html
hey buddy. tks for the video.:) can you tell us if its works with airband? regards
Yes it does.
Thats os a Great News!! Because it is not so extensível. Do you know any website where i can by it second hand?
Do you have to program it or can i just start scaning ?
you search for stations then add them in to memory. then you scan the saved memories. you can do a customized search as well, here is a video explaining it: ua-cam.com/video/VIHMN28WV4g/v-deo.html
@@todderbert oohh thank you sir
Why does mine say "All Lockout" when I push scan and how do I change it
Weird.. my scanner that I have this exact same model, I tried plugging it in and using it with no batteries and it comes on and works but as soon as someone talks it shuts off immediately signifying there is not enough power.. also I got rechargeable batteries and put them in and started charging it and it has been going for roughly 5 hours or so and still shows the charg and battery icon on there, the book says it should be a blank screen when charged.. how long does it usually take? FYI these are brand new batteries so maybe they require a longer charge with first use?
I use 2500mah batteries and it takes eight hours.
Hi i have this exact scanner, for some reason I'm not getting any sound from it, not even a keypad beep, volume is up & squelch is down (no sound from low squelch either) can you help? Oh no tone when turned on or off also. I know it does work i just think I've changed something that I'm struggling to change back again.
try headphones, but I'm guessing you will have the same result. Make squelch open. I don't recall this radio having a mute audio feature.
How do you unlock it😊
I accidentally locked out some of the banks. How do I unlock it? Banks 5 6&8 are locked and I can't figure out how to unlock it. Please let me know how to get those banks running again.
When I push scan the screen says lockout. I can't get it off how do I do it?
Do you have channels saved yet? It will say this till you search for frequencies to put into saved channels for scanning.
Great video! Where do find the computer program to download into 75xlt ? Thanks
info.uniden.com/UnidenMan4/BC75XLT
Very good and simple to understand. Thank you!
Where can I purchase a charging lead from, UK 🇬🇧
Probably Amazon, just needs to be USB-A to USB Mini.
The design looks similar to the BC125AT, but the screen looks is nothing like it, the font is changed and stuff and it's older
I got my Tecsun PL 398BT during Christmas and I was FREAKING OUT, I will do bandscans on AM FM SW.
Very cool Brian! Have fun! Will watch for sure!
@@todderbert i am still struggling to program my scanner the bc75xlt I'm bout to take it back its still not letting me get any police scan from Chicago or Wisconsin well not anywhere for that matter thank you but I'm kinda slow lol
@@diamondgirlperry6472 You will find mainly fire companies. Police have all gone to digital encrypted modes.
@@todderbert what does that mean I won't hear the police on this scanner I am confused now lol
@@diamondgirlperry6472 Depending on where you live, some P.D.s have switched from Analog to Digital Encryption. When I mad this video my local P.D. was still on Analog and it was great. Now they switched to encryption and I can not hear them anymore. I do pick up first responders, F.D.s, Bus Drivers, Local FRS & DMRS users, Ham Radio Operators, RailRoad, and Air Traffic out of O'Hare Intl.
Very good video on the scanner. You sound like you come from Milwaukee. The BC75XLT to real nice but for only a few dollars more I decided to go with the BC125XT scanner?
Think I saw this in Wal-Mart.
Me too they do have it
I having a problem programing mine I got yesterday & How do I only scan bank 1 ?
I am a little confused about scanning just 1 bank ??? I hit scan and it scans all of my banks????
Please HELP THANKS
So there is searching for active frequencies and then there is scanning your saved channels. If you scanning your saved channels you can tap the bank number to make it active or not. If your searching for active frequencies you can limit your search by using a Custom Search setup, which I go over in this video: ua-cam.com/video/VIHMN28WV4g/v-deo.html
Is it digital ?
Analog only.
My bc75xlt is not picking up narrow band any ideas why ?
check the manual, I believe there are parts of the band where it does not receive Narrow.
Software download?
It would’ve been nice for you to start off with how to turn the back light on so I can see what I’m doing
ok, sitting by a strong light will help as well.
@@todderbert I only have partial site so sitting by a strong light wouldn’t help
Can I ask a dumb question ,The freq. I program in for my area have 3 & 4 Zeros at the of all of them. And each one has 2 & 3 Zeros that can't be programed in so I'd like to know With not all the zeros is that going to throw all the freq. off ? I'd like to Thank anyone who can send any Info. my way. Thank You...
No its fine
Great video, very clear!
I want one so bad. I have a Baofeng as a scanner for now, but I want a Uniden
Bob Ross of scanners.
Haaaaapy little frequencies.... Floating through the air...
Damn your lucky to have analog police channels. Most places or on P25
yeah, in the last year they moved to P25. I only pick up fire calls now.
Does it do trunk freq. Your new one use a lot less batteries then my realistic,of couse mine is at least 20 years old ,mine looks like new,but I dont no how good it will be now days ,mine cost more then your unit I like its smaller.and yours I am sure much better then mine.
It is an entry level model with no trunking features. I will be looking into a DMR Tier II Scanner so I can listen to my local PD dispatches. They appear to be unencrypted still.
Agree completely
It doesn't get the police channels anymore
The antenna is not difficult to remove. You have to push down on it and twist counterclockwise and pull up to remove it. Definitely do not use pliers on the antenna as you'll destroy the connectors.
There is something defective with mine. It is impossible to do this procedure by hand. I have other scanners, and it is simple to remove a BNC.
Great Review
Thank you Anthony. It is my first portable scanner, and I am enjoying it. I will move up to better digital mode ones in the future..but right now I'm good.
@@todderbert Good first choice Todd, nice design and features..
Thanks, the price was right and I get quite a few analog transmissions from local PD and FDs.
Hey Todderbert.!
Just wanted to let you know that is not really that hard to get the antenna off of this scanner.!
Just grab the base of the antenna with your fingers and push downward and turn counter-clockwise until it stops and then you can pull it off...
😎👍📻
For some reason mine is defective. Other BNC connectors I have work fine, this one gives me trouble.
Andrew, i need a cheap Air-band radio here in Bangladesh. LiveATC does not provide coverage here and i am a plane-spotter so i need a radio that is cheap and ready to use, i never ever used a radio so I don’t know how to operate them so can you please recommend me a simple and cheap one under 60 dollar?. I also have to import them, they aren’t available in my country. So, the price might get even higher, so recommend me a cheap but reliable one.
I can't get any voice on my radio
Turn it on Spanky!
