I’m new to the scanning world, and I picked this same scanner up at Walmart. I love this thing! It’s relatively easy to operate, and I think it’s a great scanner for beginners! Upgraded to a HYS BNC Gooseneck antenna & got way better range out of it.
I have Uniden radios. You don't press 1+0 to get to bank 10. Actually it's just 0. If you press 1+0 you are locking out bank 1. That's why in this video bank 1 was locked and to be pressed again to get 1 back on.
Do you think this would definitely pick up my local police, fire and rescue? I was told they had switched frequencies and I hafta have digital and triple trunking
@@marcustaylor6458 You would have to check for your area but most emergency services are switching or have already switched to encrypted digital signals.
@@marcustaylor6458 Now you can actually download police scanner app for your phone. iphone or android. Once you download you can select which emergency service you want to hear. You can listen to radio from all OVER THE us. I have it on my phone and it works great. i pick up county/city PD, fire dept/emergency.
I've enjoyed mine but for about $20.00 more you can get the 125 AT that comes with Rechargeable batteries and charging cable + you can program in the Alpha names of the frequencies which makes it easier to know who you are monitoring especially if you are like me and can pick up several miles of chatter from police \emergency ect. If you want longer runtime batteries get the AA lithium batteries but please use the ion charger and do not charge them inside your radio because the charging output is calibrated for Ni cad batteries.
This was so helpful, I just got one of these so I can listen to maritime traffic while watching the ships come in. I didn't know you could pick Nascar also 🤠
Good informative video thank you. I'm torn between buying the 75 xlt or the 125xlt. It's strange the UK police have used Airwave radios for about 18 years. Digital all encrypted comms and a different frequency selected every time the PTT is press from any radio. All public services here slowly moving over to this system but still interesting analogue stuff about.
I still find loads of analog and I love this radio. I have it on every day in my hobby room listening to the 2 m ham channels. It’s a great radio 📻 hope you enjoy!
You missed the voice channel frequency ? - luckily I can help - try 467.5625 Mzh :-) - Seriously - a suggestion. How does performance in: 1. Scan speed (of programmed frequencies) 2. Reception compare to a 50 USD Baofeng UV-5R ? The Baofeng is my cheap bring along, when I don’t want to bring my extremely expensive SDS-100 along.
In Norway today they have turn off all the Fm band, and turn in to the old bad digital sounding Dab+ and all the official department have gone decrypted, that we can lissen to now is onely some Air band and some of the old Ham Radio guys.
I am new to this sport, is it normal for my device to hiccup? The sound bleeps every 2 seconds cutting out signals. I can't understand what they're saying, it's annoying. I have the uniden 75 like this one.
@@BoyAndAScanner hey, I have another question, if you don't mind. I just figured out my bc75xlt is a 300 channel scanner. What's the difference between a 300 or 500 channel scanner. I should have bought the 500 channel 125 model. Also, how many watts does the 75 run? Also, is this unit a uhf line of sight radio or is it considered a HAM Radio? Sorry to ask so many questions. Thank you, have a nice day.
So this would pick up my local police, fire, and rescue? I know they switched to a different frequency..so said to get digital triple trunking or I want pick up anything?
@@BoyAndAScanner How exactly would this pickup digital though? I have the UBC125XLT which is basically a upgrade where I can program names for the freq etc. but all the newer trunked systems wouldnt be able to listen into correct?
Does it scan digital? You say it doesn’t in the video but in another comment you say it does. I went to radio reference and my local PD says mode p25 and im not sure what that means (as you might be able to tell im new)

I use it daily actually. 🙂 I have it hooked up to my base antenna, it’s a great daily scanner. Thanks for watching 🙂✌️
Boy And A Scanner What do you think about the BCD325P2 ?
Thanks I never thought you could do that with the power bank! I bought a magnetic wideband antenna and used a pie pan as ground plane 😊
Yes such a a good quality video well done.
I just ordered the sr30c and I can not wait 😊

Hey 👋 actually that doesn't sound normal. Does it cut off or beep?
@@BoyAndAScanner it would keep cutting the sound off every 2 seconds. But since i fixed it, it doesn't do it anymore.

Does this radio pick up digital frequencies
No it doesn’t
It’s not hard to get it on it’s hard to get antenna off.
How do you squelch this scanner

It’ll pick up digital yes and conventional is great with this antenna 👍👍
