I’m an accountant and I’ve searched deeply and questioned does the work that I do really matter. Or rather, how can I present what I do in such a way that it’s valued beyond it just being a commodity. I do agree that not having the answer to this has hindered my motivation to put out content. I want what I present to be meaningful and impactful. Anyway, I have some things to think about heading into the new year. I am very excited. Thanks for this video and reminder. Thank you so much for your continued value and gems. Well wishes to you and all in the new year!!
Thanks for sharing. From my experience working with many accountants, I believe it is important. We have a video the team is working on that I think will resonate with you. Have a happy new year!
I wanted to write you off Chris. The chains, the glasses, to me my first reaction was “fake guru”! But in reality I see you are authentic, intelligent and generous with your knowledge. 👊🏽 Respect.
Leaving aside the content, which, as usual, is A+, I am pleasantly surprised to see that this "authenticity" that The Futur team keeps talking about is present in the courses they offer. It's unbelievable... you see that when you offer a very high value product, people pay to listen to you even if there is a lot of critical but beneficial feedback like : "does anybody do not do good work who's so new into their field or pretending right now? Then no one will raise their hand but I'm sure there's one or two people" 🤩😄🙃
The funniest story for me is that once I became debt-free in 2018, it was better than when I made the most money I ever made in 2019-2022. I started buying stuff that made me lose my freedom to have to pay for it, meaning I have to work harder. More hours, more fast food, and more travel. I'll be debt-free again in March, and I cannot wait! The other thing I did was change my magazine from trying to fit "algorithms" to just doing what I love. It became less stressful and, in my opinion (not consumers), became more fun and real. Instead of looking for money as before, I just ask people how can I help make a memory of being published possible for them and it works
Chris- you have been an angel for me and my brand- writing a book now with the best publisher in the world!! Would love to host you on my podcast someday :)

Hey Chris. I've been digging through the archives, and wanted to ask you this question. What are the differences between the process and the result? Sometimes, I've heard you say 'I don't care how you do it. I just want it done.' I also know that you have a past series called 'The Process.' How do I know which one is more important to prioritize?
Great question! This is something I’ve wrestled with over the years too. The truth is, both process and result matter, but their importance depends on the context. When I say, “I don’t care how you do it. I just want it done,” it’s usually about outcomes that are time-sensitive or results-driven. In those moments, the end result is what moves the needle, especially if you’re working with a team or a client. On the other hand, ‘The Process’ is all about the journey-understanding the steps, refining your craft, and learning from the work itself. Prioritizing the process is essential when you’re building long-term skills or solving a problem where the how matters just as much as the what. So, how do you choose? Ask yourself: Is this about delivering value now, or growing and refining over time? There’s a balance, and the magic happens when you learn to navigate both.
@@thefutur Process and 'just get it done' aren't mutually exclusive. A sense of the importance of process is something that takes time to understand and develop. In a crunch a good actual process or grasp of how important processes are can be the difference between things falling to pieces or getting done. Process is the one of the best ways to 'just get it done'.
Sorry I’m confused. Elon Musk and the other guys that you mentioned, have more followers than their companies. People are interested in who they are, what they think, and what they have planned for the future. So does that mean that we should use our funds to build a personal brand/ story telling, or to market for the company that we are trying to bring awareness to? Because I thought you were highlighting that the wave of personal brands isn’t really authentic and honest. And that we should focus on solving real problems for people and showing interest in others. That will increase your value and how much people are willing to pay you
I believe he talks about personal brands being unauthentic not as a moral statement but as a result of bad strategy - basically having a personal brand that's "me me me". Taking his examples, they don't talk only about their work and company, they aren't like "buy a tesla car and save the world" but talk about creativity, courage, art, a better future... that's what brings people to them.

Hi there. I struggle with the same issue. Right now I'm trying to "package" my way of doing - with the work arounds - as a valid process. I believe that's a way to get an unique personal brand, not trying to fit my stuff into what's already expected. I'm discovering that involves some overcoming of personal beliefes.
