i like the part of board game club where they explain the game before they go into the gameplay section and then the first thing they do in the gameplay section is explain the rules of the game. not joking, not being ironic - it’s the exact amount of game explaining i need to follow a game like this

I love it too. At first I didn't like it but I have come to really appreciate it
I'm a very visual person and I learn through examples and demonstrations. The first explanation turns into an incomprehensible word salad in my head whenever they're playing a complicated game. The explanation as they go completely clarifies everything that has confused me before. I love it. I wish all plans could be explained this way.
I never really thought about it but I now that I think about it; I have learned a lot about the games by them doing the 2-bit explaining
Adam: "Sully's gonna forgive me immediately. Once he looks at me he'll fall in love all over again."
Sully: looks at Adam and immediately forgives him next round
Adam: "Why does everyone always cheer against me?" Also Adam: *Whistles as he reveals the sabotage objective.* :)
The way Adam played this fully convince me Adam is preparing to play Monopoly.
Secretly, he really wants to.

Moonrakers is a very thinky game, and Adam did a great job of explaining it and making it digestible.
He did an equally amazing job of shooting himself in the foot right off the bat and removing all trust in him in what is a negotiation game. Legend.
And he still came in second, even with the foot shooting.
@@sonan333 That's cause the other 2 weren't very smart. They should have said he could only join for all half coins, and taking all hazards. Nothing more, nothing less. And if he said no, well there are 2 other people around willing to help.
I have no idea why any of them allowed Adam to join back into the fold. It wasn't smart, and he got to second place. He should have been in last and forced to grovel and beg with heavy penalties to get any kinda reward, or be forced to try and do the stuff on his own. Laurie was the only one who actually played correctly and the best possible way.

The way Sully started to unravel as Laurie pulled ahead... You just know he was having flashbacks of Western Legends & Wild Bill Hiccup.

Sullivan is so right and the best part is Lorrie set this system up forever ago. I’ve been going back in the archive and before in earlier games Adam and others would poke him and mess with him and every single time he went absolutely nuclear. Tanked the game for both parties and made sure no one messed with him again not just for the game but for every game after that. so now he can just sit and be chill while the others squabble😂

My 67-year-old mom loves Dominion like no other. She’s one of those players that takes ten minutes a turn just from all the combos and pyramids she ends making, and Dad and I have never beaten her in 12 years.

I've never seen someone so justifiably homicidal towards Adam as Holly in this game. I kept wanting to tell her through the magic of video and time travel, "No, Holly, don't murder him... while the cameras are on; wait until they're off so there's no evidence." 😂
Super fun gameplay!
One quick rules note tho! When you play a shield you don't need to choose between counting it towards a contract and blocking a hazard, it does both! Just like all the other cards. With Reactors you don't have to choose between counting it towards the contract and getting 2+ actions, you get both!

Every Thanksgiving week, my family gets together for an event called Snoodfest to just play board games and hang out for a week. That being said that I am thankful for Board Game Club this year for these episodes because I am introducing 6 games to people that were all inspired by these episodes! So thank you No Rolls Barred, you have kept me entertained and suggested some killer games! Easily my favorite channel of 2022!

It’s like deck building munchkin where Laurie plays as the elf and jumps ahead through niceness and adams the one guy who randomly cursed other people because he wants to play monopoly instead
Oh GOD... as much as I love the happily whistling reveal of the saboteur card by Adam it's amazing how much that man shot himself in the foot with that. That's so risky. I LOVE it.
Also, Yes Adam it was funny. But seeing you desperate for forgiveness afterwards was also very funny sooo.... Net win from my point of view, but a big loss for you in general. xD
Laurie really deserved to win, his play was exemplary.
I just wish we the game had gone on for a little longer, so that we could enjoy the results of Sully's shopping spree.
I think he might've won by "cheating" though since the card that gets him his second action requires him to discard a damage card which I didn't see him do, unless I missed something. Don't think he did it on purpose if he missed that requirement.

Fun fact, if you're watching on PC and time seek using the number keys, if you hit "6" its Sullivan saying "6"
I was super excited to see you all playing this hahaha! Moonrakers is an awesome game. One little rule note though, when negotiations are happening you cannot say numbers of what cards are in your hand. So you can say I can help with thrusters, but you cannot say I have two thrusters and one shield I can help with, etc.
@@arandombard1197 You can say exact numbers if you want. The rule book says it's up to the players whether they say numbers or not. They have missed the rule that shield negate hazards and count towards missions with 1 card. So no need to play a shield to negate a hazard and then another shield towards the mission...unless they rectify it later in the vid.

will just add hazards rolled dont add to the amount of shields needed for a mission.
Also Laurie's swarm mk1 has to discard a 1 damage card for 2 actions, he doesn't just have 2 actions.
He also by the looks of things never had 3 Henko ship parts so couldn't have scored that obj
For anyone wondering why there’s no listing currently on their website for the game. They are currently sold out, they are restocking in March.
Not even 5 minutes in and there's already 3 James Bond references made - excellent.
Still not used to having to wait until 2 am instead of 1 am for these, but I am insane enough to probably watch all of this before going to sleep. (....this was before I realized the video is 2 hours long lol)

Absolutely loved this video, was a blast! I've watched another Moonrakers gameplay video and didn't come away from it with much of a feel for the rules. You folks made it SO much easier to follow, even got me to buy a copy for myself!

Oooh, Moonrakers, I have this one from when I backed the kickstarter. Awesome game as you can see and the metal tokens just feel so right when earning or spending them. Wish I could have afforded the metal ship tokens as well, but the plastic ones are very well detailed and it's nice having the different shapes to go with the colors.

Laughing so hard that I spit coffee all over my keyboard. It went out my nose. So funny it hurt. Sully/Adam "conflict" for the win.
The way Laurie dominated with that Lee van Cribb card reminds me of a time I played a big game of DC Deckbuilding with a bunch of friends. I was able to build my deck to cycle through it all every turn, and by the fifth round I had picked up four super villain cards. We started a new game soon after. 🤣🤣🤣

It's funny to me how so many people think the shields have to be split between hazards and mission but never even consider the possibility that damage/reactors would have to be split.

I came here from Survive Atlantis after this video was constantly brought and I was not disappointed by Adam, that monster.

I never fully understand the rules of the game when Adam explains them, but I know regardless I'll have a lovely time watching.....
This looked really fun, the gameplay loop and negotiation are fantastic in a fun deckbuilder that makes you search your hand for paths of 'playouts' and offer/take gambles on what you might draw with thrusters and crew which is brilliant and thematic. But the endgame looks kinda silly - you don't include anyone who's close to winning on deals because you don't want to give them the money or prestige to be able to do a solo contract, and as that winning player you basically just have to wait for a mission you can do solo to flop off the deck, or take the boring base missions to get secret obj cards that are also random. Feels like a bit of a crapshoot? Looks like it would be really fun once or twice but after that I feel like those flaws would be so glaring.
I think that more advanced strategy involves making yourself stronger before joining the battle. Kind of what Laurie did, but maybe a round more of powering up.

With deck building i always go for near infinite deck build so i know i almost always can use everything in my deck. So powerfull

As a Yank that's new to UK entertainment, the abruptness and intensity that a laugh or uproar will emerge out of a quiet moment is jarring. I'm really enjoying watching these games being played.

Laurie won anyway, but he should have rolled multiple hazard dice every time there was more than one hazard die he needed to roll, instead of subtracting one hazard die, because the cloaking shield negated a hazard die. So he could negate a two hazard die in favor of a blank or a one hazard die. But like I said, he won anyway.
I was wondering about this, in addition to a few other things (like someone else mentioned, the shields should count for both negation and contracts, just like everything else).
We need to know from Adam if all those bits this past year were worth playing Monopoly 🤣

the black hole may seem brutal, but consider... thrusters and reactors build on each other, they work with each other, they NEED each other.
however, one cannot possibly hope to explore it alone. I think it might ACTUALLY be impossible

Normally I don't like deck building games but the one I quite like is Zenoshift. It's still a pretty good co-op game for it's age but man is it brutal.
It's always weird hearing my name used, especially this frequently. I almost never hear "Lee" outside of family and friends talking to/about me.
This game really looks like a space Dominion with Munchkin help/win mechanics.
