I paused during the explanation to look something up, so forgive me if you mention it later, but I think it's an adorable anecdote about this game. All elements on the cards in this game are real except for Jodium and Sydnium. The creator wanted one card for each letter of the alphabet, but no element symbols start with J or Q. So instead, he named them after his own daughters, Jodie and Sydney. The adorable part is that the symbol for Sydnium is Qt... he literally made a part of the game designed to call his daughter a cutie 🥰 Also, fun nerdy fact (well, fun for nerds): ununoctium, the Uuo card, is a temporary descriptive name. The element 118 was given an official name Oganesson in 2016, so technically, to get a U, the next edition of the game should move up to element 119, ununennium, Uue.
another (albeit less adorable) solution for the J would have been Iodine, as the German word is Jod. the K for Potassium also comes from the German Kalium so it wouldn't be unusual.
52:40 To be fair "who am I doing this for?why am I here? How did I end up here? Classically trained actor... I've worked so hard and now I'm here playing this fckin space game" is a verbatim transcript of a phrase that every British actor appearing in star wars has asked themselves at some point in their lives.
We've had chaotic Doctors, but this... it would take five times as long to release a new episode because the directors would have to keep reminding him to stick to the script and stop chasing silly bits all the time 😂
at 48:38, Dom misunderstands his power, you turn a MULTIPOINT TRACTOR/REPULSOR into a STANDARD TRACTOR/REPULSOR THEN, you multiply by 2 the effect, so he would have gone 4 into the outer gate.
a computer version would solve issues like this, and thanks for posting, I came looking for a post like this when the card was used, because I noted the odd phrasing when he charged it, and figured he would get it wrong.

I can not get over James’ mega mixing skills!!!! That little rift (courtesy of dons never ending talents of course) is such a mint little dit. As it’s coming up to Christmas, could I please please please ask for the team to consider putting together a video of just all of the music remixes you have done through the previous videos. Please??? They are so good!
Perfect timing for this to release just as I finished watching the new Jay Foreman video, and then one of the first lines in the video is "similar to 6 Nimmt!", Yup this is my evening sorted 😅
Oh hell yeah. We need this! I don’t think it would be too complicated for the editors as is either. But it would be extra cool to get two “live” maps of the subs’ locations in the corners of the screen.
Love the chaotic energy around the table this episode! Adam seems to already give a hint of what's to come in the rules explanation! :D Sully as the Doctor would be damn good casting. Although, everyone at this table is just two steps removed from the Doctor, considering Tilly was in an episode.
1:16:20 Laurie's card should have acted before Carley's as Germanium is higher than Hydrogen in the alphabetical order This game is too chaotic so don't know how that would have affected the end result (or if it would've)
Yeah I noticed too, but I'm pretty sure it doesn't change the outcome which is why they didn't go back and redo it. But yeah I was screaming in my head during that time
oh lordy, i was NOT expecting that callback to James' remix alongside Sully's next movie poster! hit me like a ton of bricks haha fun silly game, love the inclusion of RoboJon, that Patreon Mysterium game was amazing
@@blakksheep736 Adam made a resolution at the beginning of the year to win at least 22 episodes of Board Game Club. He has only won 20 games on Board Game Club, which come out every week. He has 4 weeks left till the end of the year, meaning 4 episodes left, to try and get 2 more wins. If he doesn’t, he will record himself playing 5 straight sessions of Monopoly.
I played this for the first time with one of the designers at GenCon. It was a three player game, and I played a fun game I called "Party in the Singularity" where for 3 straight turns I kept the developer in the singularity. It was my first time playing, but I was reading this man like a book. The best part was because it was a three player game, the third player couldn't actually win. He got way out ahead and ran out of mass to slingshot off of and just drifted back towards us.
Dom is like Seth, he just committed hard and eventually got himself over and they had to turn him face. buries Chopper Pete during Cthulu and we still cheer
Dunno if anyone else called out how at 1:14:41 he grabs the piece he had just moved before, and should have had the more outer gate-ward jump to the same spot instead. Means that the second debris was one space off for however long. Not that it matters, just a sneaky error.
48:14 - I don't believe that card was used correctly. 35:50 - It turns a card that affects everyone into a card that affects only you with a numerical value of twice the value printed on the card. Cavitation: This is a word, it refers to the formation of bubbles or 'cavities' in fluid; this typically creates a low pressure area (hence why it pulls everyone toward you). though how you can create low pressure in the vacuum of space is beyond me.
Sullivan on 40:01 reminds me of Crazy Dave without the pot and in a different shirt from Plants vs Zombies (Especially from Crazy Dave's music video but without jewelery) Cool remix and poster! Dom and Sully are my favorites from NRB!
36:05 - For Dom: “Cavitation is a phenomenon in which the static pressure of a liquid reduces to below the liquid's vapour pressure, leading to the formation of small vapor-filled cavities in the liquid. When subjected to higher pressure, these cavities, called "bubbles" or "voids", collapse and can generate shock waves that may damage machinery. These shock waves are strong when they are very close to the imploded bubble, but rapidly weaken as they propagate away from the implosion.”
Cavitation is when little bubbles form around stuff that's moving really fast through a fluid. Propellers cause cavitation. Trying to develop a screw that minimizes cavitation was one of the main concerns of submarine engineers for many years.
Correction for Adam's statement at 2:28: There is a LOT of gravity in space. It keeps the Moon (and satellites) circling the Earth, it keeps the Earth close to the Sun, and it keeps us al swirling round the supermassive black hole at the center of our galaxy. Space is full of gravity. There are a few (moving) places where opposing gravity forces cancel each other (Lagrange points), and large voids between galaxy clusters where you can be so far away from -anything- that gravity is negligible, but anywhere else has gravity.
The creators of this game did a really good job of making movement along a curve as convoluted as possible. I'm not sure it's what they went for, but they did it!
"We are in a strange part of space with no actual gravity....which actually thinking about it, is space." I wonder if Adam thinks, that the Moon's rotation around Earth or Earth's rotation around the Sun is governed by strings....? :)

Laurie's win was hard-earned. He got set back so much. But it reminds me of one of those TV episodes where the protagonist and antagonist compete in a competition and then at the end of the episode a random throw-away character who we don't know wins (not that Laurie is a throwaway character, but we really didn't think he was in the running)
Cavitation is when multiple pressure changes in water cause small cavities to form. Those cavities then implode, causing explosions. The Pistol Shrimp punches through water fast enough to create cavitation. The heat from the explosions is more than enough to kill fish.

48:12 Even though this card was read several times as a "hard to understand" card, it isn't difficult at all if you are familiar with the basic card types. Even if you don't know the basic card types, it's not rocket science (despite the game) to figure out that "standard" is probably the opposite of "multi-point." A multi-point card becomes a standard (you could say single-point) card with double the value. Therefore, converting the 2-power *multi-point* repulsor into a 4-power *multi-point* repulsor was impossible and incorrect.

another (albeit less adorable) solution for the J would have been Iodine, as the German word is Jod. the K for Potassium also comes from the German Kalium so it wouldn't be unusual.
The Dutch translation of Iodine is Jodium, so it is a real element. Just in another language.
I can verify the anecdote.
Good note on Ununoctium. We'll have to note that for the next printing.
