- On this week's Overboard, we're playing HEAT: PEDAL TO THE METAL, a board game about 1960s-style Grand Prix racing. Alongside Vox's Byrd Pinkerton, a huge Formula 1 fan herself, we're going head to head on racetracks in Italy and Great Britain, hitting apexes and blasting down the straights toward victory. For all the newly minted F1 fans out there, Heat is a great way to bring your car passion to the table.

On my first playthrough I made the same mistake as Pat, thinking the heat penalty was the number of spaces you went over the line by rather than the total number of spaces you moved that turn.
Isn’t heat all the total minus slipstream? I think slipstream is the only thing that doesn’t count right?
@@sphinx9517 Yes, and there's an error at 15:16 he moves for 3 over a curve with a speed of 2, then slipstreams over the line and ignores the base movement value ("it's for free"). He should've added 1 Heat to discard pile because he technically crossed the 2 line with a value of 3.

At least a couple of weeks ago, there were several UK retailers that had it. I ordered one and got it a few days ago. I had one back-ordered from a place in Canada that I cancelled when I saw it in stock. Worth a shot.
Straight onto the Board Game Geek wishlist. This looks awesome. I've been a fan of Formula D for many years, but this looks like a simpler, faster-moving, and easier to teach version of that.
This game seems so fun, I'd honestly love to just see another overboard episode where you just play more of this

you can play it on BGA and let the computer do the heavy lifting!
I actually prefer the "predecessor" to this. Flamme rouge is simpler, more straightforward, quicker, cheaper and fits my particular group better. While this is fun, it demands a little bit more focus than FR. So in the end, it's a matter of taste of how you like your racing game.

Oh heck yeah, another Polygon Let's Play! These are always some of my favorite vids, love watching yall play new and interesting games, and has gotten me interested in several video games! Delightful video, delightful people, and this game seemed a little tough to pick up at first, but really cool!

I know the designers IRL, and they're both super nice. Been play testing some of the stuff that they're working on, and they're great designers.

Couldn't Simone have used slipstream to get in first place after crossing the finish line, or is there no so slipstream once you cross it because Christina technically crossed first?
You're not allowed to use slipstream to cross the finish line or once you're past it

Kept trying to check my playback settings, but I think the intro is just Clayton talking very fast. I appreciate that it is thematic, but i found it much harder to follow
