I really really really would love someone to deep dive into an unsolved serial case, the New Bedford Highway Killer. I don’t know if they even have anything as far as DNA profiles anymore or if they are actively doing anything with the case, but it could be a LISK type scenario. Especially since he has an address listed about half an hour from the crime spree at the time and would’ve been in his early 20s at the time. If it’s NOT LISK, it’s someone much like him.

The State only has to show the minimum and that's all they do. They definitely have the evidence that will show he's guilty. In my opinion his lawyers know they have the evidence obviously. I think there's definitely a connection to someone else to because he had to the girls were gonna be there at that time.

Fantastic discussion!! I love hearing all sides of a case discussed intelligently. It's one of the things that drew me to DD and keeps me coming back. There's no shame in exploring a theory.. getting to a dead end, relooking at the evidence, and even being wrong. We literally have no skin in the game or impact on the trial. We have the greatest justice system on the planet, but we can't take it for granted. I've said it many times and I'll say it again. I've learned what the presumption of innocence means from ya'll, and it has opened up a whole world for me. I'm more compassionate and open minded. I didn't know I needed to work on that but I am and it's impacted me and my life in the best ways. I'm no blowing smoke up your ass but can't thank you enough for sharing your knowledge.

I couldn’t agree more. Bob has opened my eyes to what defense lawyers do. Support the Constitution. No prosecution should be brought without certainty. And even then the other side is due a defense. Too many wrongful convictions.

It's almost impossible to imagine RL not being involved to some degree. Just doesn't compute. I think at the VERY least he was hanging out with a perp that day, who later threw on his dented hat before heading to the trails. If RL wasn't directly involved, he still knew what happened that day and who was involved.

For the DEVIANT folks, PLEASE cover the West Mesa Bone Collector.
I’ve been following the case for years and it’s so much like LISK before they arrested Rex: 2009 remains were first found in New Mexico when someone was walking their dog, which led to uncovering the remains of multiple people all buried next to each other and linked to sex work (9 women, 2 girls, and one baby). The case needs so much more coverage and the victims and their families need justice.

@szematowicz thank you!!! I also want to add that I’m a satellite engineer and I’ve found that it’s rare to find true crime cases where satellite imagery provides detectives with clues on what might have happened - mostly because the image resolution (both spatially and temporally) for satellites isn’t good enough, especially at that time frame in the early 2010s (predating the rise of Planet Labs because federal mandates limit NASA/NOAA/USGS satellite resolution to ten-meters for one pixel in an image).
In this case, satellites have helped provide timeline information and vehicle tire tracks which has always stood out to me. I haven’t heard of any other cases that have done so - so much so that, along with the spooky name, strange tips, and the halted/ignored investigation from the police, this case has always stood out to me. I just wanted to share that interesting tidbit. Again, thanks

Watching this from Britain where I am a retired Solicitor (Lawyer) & Prosecutor. Judge Cannone has done a fantastic job of allowing Karen Read to present her case & have a fair trial. This is in stark contrast to Judge Gull who appears to be doing everything to prevent Richard Allen from getting one.

She wasn't as bad as I thought she was going to be. In pre trial hearings she was terrible and I didn't like her sighing and heavy breathing during the trial but maybe that was her mic placement, I'm someone who frequently takes deep breaths and I often get asked what I'm sighing for so I could forgive her for that. It annoyed me that she babied Lally asking him if he wanted to object.
But I did think she'd be worse.
Gull is going to be terrible, there is no way she is going to recuse herself though. I wouldn't wish ill on her in any way, but could she not get something that could keep her off work in October? Like a boil on her backside or something so she can't sit on her throne all day

What worries me is it's not just one set of attorney's that say Allen is not guiltily it's two separate sets of attorney's. The court didn't like what the first set of attorney's was saying so they axe them and the second set say's the same thing. If there was a third set would they have the same opinion?

It’s the entire trial - ban certain words/ names and third party defenses even though evidence points right to other people. Good ole Nick already has a list that can be added to as the state finds out what the defense uncovers as exculpatory evidence for RA.
