Really appreciate you talking about the family-no one really does and you are right-you don’t know WHAT you will do if a family member is arrested UNTIL it happens. It’s horrible-guilt, anxiety, shame, embarrassment, worry, hopeless, etc. and it’s a merry go round, nonstop from one emotion to another. Then factor in how or should you help them and on and on….. I thought the lawyer was pretty clear: he has not seen or received any charge documents from NY and he's dealing with what's in front of him, one step at a time. Yes, he could google this or that but what the lawyer said seemed clear enough to me - what he's officially received is, at this time, limited to charges in PA. I respect his refusal to speculate. I taught a Masters class in 2011 about "ObamaCare " and wrote some 200 pages on the American health care system, including fieldwork where I interviewed people across the country. Compared to European countries aside from the UK, which has a nationalized system similar to Canada, European countries have a combination of public and private health care, meaning public research hospitals and private clinics, and mostly private health practitioners. France, for instance, has the American Hospital in Paris, which is a private tax-free foundation. Overall, insurance doesn't exceed $150/ month. I was appalled to get testimony from middle-class people across the USA telling me their insurance policy before deductibles would cost at least $700/month. Even when I was no longer living in the USA, I kept getting emails for years reminding me to sign up to this health care plan - maybe for my son, who was in prep school on his father's plan...
