I'm an old follower of Ranveer.
I remember him from Living Foods channel used to come on TV. He went to that exact same sandesh shop once along with chitta dar chicken stew. I remembered glimpse of that episode.

When I was a student at Bethune College, which is very near to Girish Ch. sweet shop, I used to pack and take sweets with me every time I visited home. Even today if I get the chance i try to pack some sweets from there. The sondesh there is amazing!🥰🥰

I will be visiting Kolkata again this time. Last time I was there I did not get to try these type of food, had traditional bengali food in kasba area, sweets in kc das, raasta bar, olypub, kathi rolls, zamzam biryani(best), arsalan-park st(disappointed) though.
Can anyone suggest more such places as i will be for a week in kolkata in aug and i am a fan of biryani, shawarma, beers.

Misconception #1 about Bengali cuisine: Not always use mastered oil to cook. We use refined oil as well, specially for deep frying anything. For frying fish, yes we use mastered oil, and we generally don't deep fry the fish to make fish curry.
Misconception number 2 about Bengali cuisine they was a time when we actually use to deep fry things into Gava ghee and not white oil traditionally. With the modernisation of the society and the globalisation of the food habit and the strategic and cunning marketing of the Global market especially run by the USA and UK brainwashed community and our country mostly the country men into the belief that ghee is harmful for our health and we should switch to using cooking oil white oil and so did we do. Originally and traditionally there were no use or even existings of white oil in our recipes we all this used key very don't use mustard oil.
