預けるの3種類の整理
1 check in 空港やホテルで何かを預ける。
2 leave something さまざまな場所で、人や物を預ける(check inより幅広く使う。)
3 drop off どこかの場所に人(ペットも入る？)を預ける。 ということでしょうか？ 長くなりました。失礼いたしました。

預けると言い換えることができるだけで、預けるという意味ではないような。
"Check in" であれば「預ける」より「確認する」と言った方が、
"leave something" であれば「預ける」より「どこかに、誰かに置き（預け）去る」 、
"drop off"であれば「預ける」より「落とす」という感じでそのまま覚える方が良くない？日本語に訳しても意味通じるし。そう考えれば一々場面を覚える必要ないし、応用も効く。
日本語で言う 預ける は "entrust"がニュアンス的に近いんじゃないかなと思う。（今回のフレーズは直接行動を表すだけで、お願いする気持ちなどは含まれていないことから）
Leaveは「忘れてきた」のときにも使うと思うので、「預ける」との使い分けはあるのでしょうか？文脈から判断するしかないのでしょうか？

というと、ホテルに荷物を預けたのか、ホテルに荷物を忘れてきてしまったのか、どう判断するんでしょう？

baggageには日本で言うBag(カバン)みたいな意味合いになるのでしょうか？

英語学習者って英語を喋れもせんのに英検1級取ったり、トイック満点取ったりするけど、実際英検2級レベルの単語力で日常会話には十分なんだよね。
難しい単語より、知ってる単語の使い方を勉強したり、スムーズに出てくる様に練習する事が大切。
